Kotaku Monday, July 21, 2025 7:30 AM ![]() Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has made some comments on the sales issues of Star Wars Outlaws. The big boss claims that Outlaws' middling performance last year was, in large part, because the whole Star Wars franchise was in "choppy waters." |
PCGamesN Monday, July 21, 2025 9:53 AM When is the Soulframe release date? The upcoming fantasy MMORPG from the creators behind Warframe has been on our minds since it was first announced in 2022. More recently, developer Digital Extremes has revealed story details and gameplay trailers that give us an idea of what to expect from Soulframe's beautiful open world that establishes its themes of climate change and environmental destruction. Soulframe certainly looks and feels very different from its sci-fi sister, Warframe, instead, it takes cues from our favorite fantasy games. However, there are plenty of parallels to delight long-time Warframe fans and new players alike once the MMORPG arrives. Until then, here's everything we know so far, including all the latest news surrounding the Soulframe release date and the upcoming Preludes playtests. PCGamesN Monday, July 21, 2025 9:37 AM Does Dune Awakening have crossplay? We know that players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will eventually be able to immerse themselves in the Arrakean desert, but will we PC folk be able to play with our console brethren? Dune Awakening has had to get creative with Frank Herbert's spice-fueled odyssey, ducking around the canon currently being adapted by Legendary Pictures. With Paul Atreides out of the picture, the Arrakis you'll explore will look rather different from what any of the source material. Can you enjoy the adventure game with pals on other platforms when the console launch rolls around, and will you be able to explore with your character, whether on PC or console, via a Dune Awakening cross-progression system? PCGamesN Monday, July 21, 2025 9:31 AM For a game that's over a decade old, Ark Survival Evolved has proven to be an enduring open-world survival crafter. This is in part because of the low Ark Survival Evolved system requirements, which are inviting for gamers with entry-level PCs and laptops, even as of the latest Ark SE updates and expansions. Compared to its sequel, Ark Survival Evolved is arguably the more popular Ark game, and it still sits on our best survival games list despite the release of Ark Survival Ascended. You won't even need the best gaming PC from our buying guides to get Ark SE to run, although you might want to aim for more modern hardware if you plan on installing some of the larger and more demanding Ark Survival Evolved mods. PCGamesN Monday, July 21, 2025 8:20 AM Ready or Not has had a weird time of it. The tac shooter's console launch should've been a moment for celebration, though it's been muddied and mired in controversy after developer Void Interactive removed and reworked some extreme material to pass certification. Despite the massive backlash on Steam, RoN's console launch has already been a huge success, rocketing past its first major sale milestone just days after dropping. PCGamesN Monday, July 21, 2025 9:33 AM With Shadow of the Erdtree now long established, it's safe to say that the Elden Ring system requirements are stable as no further DLC is on the cards. As of 2025, you don't actually need a particularly powerful gaming PC or laptop to get the game running, even if you were to aggro every enemy in Stormveil Castle or Leyndell. Overall, the game runs incredibly well on just about any modern rig, and, if you have the best graphics card from our buying guide, Elden Ring can support a maximum resolution of native 4K with HDR. Unfortunately, you will run up against the 60fps frame rate cap no matter your setup, but you can circumvent this cap through mods that aren't difficult to install. Even if you don't go the modding route, the 60fps cap is hardly a hindrance to enjoying one of the best PC games, and one of the most beautiful, provided you don't ragequit mid boss fight. PCGamesN Monday, July 21, 2025 7:07 AM Long-running RTS games like Age of Empires 2 are notoriously well-optimized. Picking up set build paths and strategies is crucial, even as a total newbie, or else you'll quickly fall behind the tempo of the lobby. When every second counts, so too does every morsel of food and splinter of wood you can gather early on. This typically includes having your villagers dance around a boar or two, which can quickly descend into chaos, and a spree of murdered townsfolk, if you have a tough time kiting the peeved off pigs. Fortunately, a new update is empowering your collective action, making the risky maneuver a thing of the past. MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Best RTS games, Best strategy games, Best 4X games |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, July 21, 2025 5:38 AM ![]() Turtle Rock's Evolve was, for me, an almost-brilliant asymmetrical shooter straining to extract itself from the jaws of a live service kaiju maddened by a sludgy diet of unlocks and micro-transactions. It was a huge round of hide-and-seek featuring one, very large and fast, upgradeable alien monster and four hunters equipped with jet packs, trackers, forcefield nets and assorted demolition gear. I had a grand old time at launch as the Wraith, a godawful sneaklizard with warping capabilities, like a xenomorph moonlighting as Corvo Attano. But such thrills were sabotaged by the grindiness of the early game and by an infuriating deluge of paid DLC. Publishers 2K Games delisted it in 2018, after attempting to reboot Evolve as a free-to-play game. The beast clings onto a little life care of a community Discord for existing owners. Even given the reaction to Evolve's nickel-and-diming, it seems unlikely a sequel would have stripped out the live service progression elements and reverted to something like the menu-light horror movie sandbox approach of the developer's previous Left 4 Dead. After all, Turtle Rock went onto make Back 4 Blood, a zombie blaster marinated in grindogubbins. Still, I'd have liked to see them try it. And look, they almost did. |

Target will change its Price Match Guarantee policy, adjusting it so it will not match deals at other stores like Amazon, Best Buy, Meijer, Walmart, and other retailers. While the official site hasn't changed yet, statements to outlets like Bloomberg and a notice shared on the subreddit for the store by user Jawwaad127 confirmed it takes effect on July 28, 2025.
On the Target subreddit, the photo of the statement claimed the move to stop the Price Match Guarantee from applying to stores like Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart is designed "to reflect guest feedback." Prior to cut-off date, someone could bring in an official ad or price on another store's website, and show it to an employee. It would then be matched. So someone wouldn't need to order online and could get the item there instead.
The official notice also claimed "most price matches happen within Target." It clarified that if someone goes to the official store app or website and sees a different, lower price, then the in-store item will be sold for that. Bloomberg's report involving a company spokesperson had the employee make the same claim. So there will still be a sort of price matching, but won't offer the same sorts of deals shoppers previously enjoyed.
While Target is being more restrictive, there is one store that sells games and electronics and isn't. Best Buy also offers a price match guarantee that involves competitor stores. The caveat there is that it only applies to "qualified competitors" like Amazon, Apple, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe's, Microcenter, Target, and Walmart. Home Depot and Lowe's also offer price matching.
Target will change its price match guarantee policy on July 28, 2025.

The original Bustafellows ended up being an interesting blend of mystery and romance, so much so that it felt like it had a broader range of appeal than a typical otome title. The sequel continues that trend. Rather than simply being a fan disc, like we've seen with dating sim visual novels in the past, this is a full additional outing that feels more akin to an adventure game sequel that builds even further on the formula with new elements and characters. Of course, that comes with a caveat. While Bustafellows Season 2 is a lot of fun, that is only true if you finished the first game.
As a refresher, Bustafellows Season 2 once again is a thriller filled with crime and intrigue. There's an element of fantasy to it too, since journalist heroine Teuta (you can rename her) can jump into the past to change things and, after saving the life of Limbo the lawyer, worked with him and Helvetica the surgeon, Mozu the coroner, Scarecrow the hacker, and Shu the sniper to deal with investigations in the previous game. While the group is still in New Sieg, with Teuta now in a relationship with one of these men, this time the major investigations in routes and the epilogue get into things like drugs, human trafficking, and murder.
First, I want to start with a pet peeve. Bustafellows Season 2 is a great otome game and follow-up to the first game, but it expects exact knowledge of the original to enjoy. If you had a favorite love interest, you should be fine. However, if it's been four years since you played, then you might not remember things. Specifically, you may not remember the name of your cat that would lead you down a route in this installment where you continue your relationship with the man you picked. To make things easier on you, since I definitely had to stumble through it, here are the answers to get to each route.
Once you do make a selection, you're locked into a route with that man. Which is freeing! Since you are committed after the first game, the choices are more about making natural selections that suit the kind of story you want to tell. There are good and bad endings for everyone, as well as an epilogue to unlock. Fortunately, there's also a flowchart function so if you do think you made a choice that is leading you to a conclusion you don't want, you can pop back and make different selections in the visual novel.

What I appreciated is that there is more romance here this time around. Our heroine is already committed to someone. We see how they balance each other out, what their lives are like now that they are in a relationship, and how their lives and the seedy situations they get into affect them as a couple. I really enjoyed most of the routes, even though Mozu, Scarecrow, and Shu were my favorites. All the voice actors are fantastic, and the character portraits and CGs do a great job of bringing situations to life.
However, this doesn't mean Bustafellows Season 2 shies away from the dark situations and crime drama elements of the original game. Things can sometimes be as gritty as before. Bad endings? They can be really sad. If you're negatively affected or triggered by things like murder, drug abuse, talk about human trafficking, or even abuse in general, you are going to have a bad time. I do think there are some ways in which Bustafellows Season 2 could have been an even better and stronger otome game. There are some routes where the pacing doesn't feel as strong as others. I especially felt this way about Limbo, which is a shame since he was one of my favorites the first time around. In some stories, it seems like characters who would normally make smart decisions maybe don't do so for the sake of making a dramatic and exciting thing happen. (Specifically, this is a Mozu situation.) Each of the routes are a bit shorter than I expected, which isn't bad, but after the original Bustafellows being so strong and meaty, I hoped a bit for more.
Bustafellows Season 2 is truly a game for anyone who loved the original otome adventure, and it still doesn't shy away from pairing romance with the kinds of thrilling stories we'd find in crime dramas. The execution is gorgeous, so the character design is wonderful, portraits look great, and CGs are striking. Teuta is still generally a great heroine, and the continuing romances can feel really fulfilling now that everyone is established. In general, it's a good way to spend some evenings if you already adore these dudes.
Bustafellows Season 2 debuts on the Switch and PC on July 17, 2025, and a demo is available on both platforms.

Donkey Kong Bananza has been out for a few days now, and everyone who owns a Nintendo Switch 2 seems to be getting their hands on it.
Though looking at message boards and social media, I have noticed a mixed bag of opinions. Even when looking at the comments of my recent review of the game (where I gave it a 9/10, citing performance issues and more as my reasons not to give it a perfect score), some people seem indifferent towards it and don't appear to be having as much fun as they expected.
I've also seen a lot of people claim that playing the game is making them feel sick, with a small minority having motion sickness when playing the game. But outside of that, how have you been finding the game so far, reader?
I've been enjoying it and recently finished the post-game story, and have stopped playing towards 100% completion so I have something to play during some upcoming flights to Gamescom and Evo I have in August. As much as I want to continue playing it, I need something to do to pass the several hours of flights and layovers I'll need to contend with.
And while I have enjoyed a large portion of the game, I must admit that for the first few hours. I wasn't sold on the game. Mainly due to the easy boss fights you come across pretty early on, and how much backtracking you need to do at times with Void Kong. Obviously, the big ending reveal saved the show for a lot of people, but we won't be talking about that for the sake of not spoiling the game for anyone who is still playing through it.
And on that note, if you are still playing through the game, how are you finding it? Were there any parts you liked but also loathed? I want to hear your thoughts in the comments below and share your opinions, because I'm aware the game truly isn't for everyone.

College Football 26 offers different ways for you to breach the opposition's defense, and mastering the concepts will allow you to score more touchdowns to snatch more wins.
EA Sports has made a few tweaks from College Football 25, and so far, I have loved them. The ball control you get to enjoy in this year's game is certainly more. Set's quickly check out all the options available in your offensive arsenal that you can perform with an athlete carrying the ball.

All College Football 26 ball carrier moves explained
When it comes to ball carrier moves, it's essential to understand that all tricks have situational requirements. This is the first important aspect to keep in mind.

How to spin with the ball in College Football 26
A spin is the easiest way to beat your opponents. Perform it by pressing the B/Circle button on your Xbox/PlayStation controller. You'll also need to control the LS in the direction you want to exit after performing the move. You can also spin either way, so always try to spin away from opponents.
You can master the move by observing the defenders, as it's best to perform the move as they're trying to charge in for a tackle, and have already committed.
How to Stiff Arm in College Football 26
A stiff arm can be pulled off with the help of the A/X button on your Xbox/PlayStation controller. Just like the spin, you'll have to wait for the defender to close in on a tackle. A stiff arm allows you to reduce the impact of an incoming tackle and enables your carrier to retain balance during their sprint.
How to Truck in College Football 26
Trucking might seem similar to pulling a stiff arm, but it's a lot more complex. It's performed by flicking the RS forward as the defender is trying to charge into a tackle. If timed correctly, your ball carrier will knock the defender over and continue his run. You'll also need a player with a high Trucking stat to perform the move successfully.
How to Juke in College Football 26
Juking is like a side step, where you move the RS to either your left or right, based on where you want your player to move. It has to be performed before the defender has moved into a tackle charge for a better chance of success.
How to Stop and Go in College Football 26
The Hesi Juke is a more advanced form of the basic Juke, and it's performed by dragging the RS down while moving with the ball. Unlike the standard Juke, it causes your ball carrier to slant backwards, and it best succeeds if you're about to get tackled from the side. So, in simple terms, perform the standard Juke when you're being tackled from the front, and the Hesi variation for tackles from the side.
How to Hurdle in College Football 26
You can jump over an incoming defender with the help of Hurdle by jumping over him. To do so, press the Y/Triangle button on your Xbox/PlayStation controller. It's a slightly complex move that only works if the defender doesn't have a second teammate closing in.
There are three additional moves you can perform with the ball carrier. These aren't concepts associated directly with beating the incoming tackles.

The runtime for tomorrow's July 22 Pokémon Presents showcase looks to have dropped online, with the show expected to last 24 minutes and show off a lot of upcoming Pokémon updates and games, though most of the information surrounding the direct hasn't been confirmed yet.
The leak reportedly comes from the official South Korea YouTube channel, which unexpectedly uploaded the video placeholder ahead of time, showing a 24-minute run time. That would make it one of the longer Pokémon Presents in a while. And makes us wonder what'll be shown off at the show.
With so much Pokémon goodness, we wanted to put forward what we want to see in tomorrow's Pokémon Presents, as well as our general expectations on how we expect the show to go.
Pokémon Legends Z-A will almost certainly take up a lot of the presentation and will show off (we hope) some new gameplay and maybe a couple of new Mega Pokémon the game has in store, or new Pokémon in general. With the release only a few months away and a demo being at Gamescom end of August, we'd hope to see more and maybe get some hints of the story.
We also expect a lot of the start of the presentation to be focused on updates to most of Pokémon's live service games, such as Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon GO, Pokémon Unite, and more. Showcasing already announced stuff or new content coming soon, maybe in a quickfire round like we have seen in previous Pokémon Presents.
Furthermore, we imagine we will finally get new information on Pokémon Champions, which is coming out on Switch and Mobile. We might even get a release date. The game seems to be the new format for competitive Pokémon battling, and we wouldn't be surprised if it becomes the official game for the Pokémon VGC circuit after the 2026 World Championships due to its unique battles allowing Mega Evolution, Gigantamax, and more in a singular game.
I imagine we also get one big new game revealed, and while I want to hope and pray for something Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, I feel like Pokémon Company might try and tease something related to Gen 10, even if it's just a couple of seconds, with a bigger reveal than planned next year for Pokémon's 30th anniversary.
But that is our prediction. What do you expect to happen? Let us know in the comments below.

A few days after launch, speedrunners are already working their way through the recent Nintendo Switch 2 release of Donkey Kong Bananza, beating the game in around one hour and 45 minutes.
What makes the time already astounding is that this is a few days after launch, before any major skips or tricks have been found, with most of the run currently being down to technical movement and skill over anything groundbreaking—apart from when you get to the Forbidden Layer.
Most of the speedrun revolves around ignoring every single Banana even at the starting area, and to my surprise, when it comes to getting the Banaza powerups. You can simply leave the tutorial sections and not take part in any of them, which saves a boatload of time.
In fact, most of the speedruns appear to be rushing towards the boss of each area, skipping any missions possible, and then finding a way to get each of the Elder's bisks as quickly as possible. It's a really technical run at the moment, but I feel it can still go lower.
The biggest surprise was seeing that speedrunners skip the Zebra powerup entirely and instead make use of weird tech with the Ostrich transformation to glide and traverse further than they should be able to, using punches in the air to extend their glide. Coupled with the Snake transformation and precise movement, you can get through the Forbidden Layer without needing to pay any gold to move forward.
It's pretty incredible to watch, and I don't really want to spoil anything else from the speedruns. But I implore you to watch what the community has been able to find in the first few days of release, and I look forward to seeing where the speedrun ends up in a few weeks and months down the line.
Sub one hour, anyone?
