I don't think I'd be exaggerating if I said anyone who loved any kind of video game, comic, manga, or piece of fiction would also at some point fantasize or dream about what it would be like to be a part of that work or genre. How would you handle it? Would you survive and thrive in that world? Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint by singNsong, Yen Press' latest novel, shows exactly how that type of scenario would play out. As a result, I felt like it makes it even easier to connect with the hero Dokja Kim and idea of getting so caught up in a story that it would eventually pay off in real life.
Editor's Note: There will be some very minor spoilers for the first volume of the Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint novel.
Dokja Kim read a web novel called Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse. He got through all 3,149 chapters and was astonished at how it ended, as it closed out with a message saying that if someone read that story, they would make it through. He'd kept up with it since high school, but seemed to be the only one since it had 1.9 average views and 1.08 average comments. (Naturally, he commented.) He even recommended it. The author reached out to thank him personally, said the work would soon become paid, but offered Dokja a "gift" as thanks.
![]()
Then one day, when Dokja is on the subway riding home from work and talking with a coworker named Sangah Yu, he gets a message from the Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse author that said paid content starts in five minutes and included an attached file. It's then that the "world's" free trial ended, and Planetary System 8612 became a paid experience. A goblin boarded the train and said everyone needed to "pay" after enjoying their "free ride." And Dokja know what would happen because he read that web novel. And, as the first main scenario involving "killing one or more living creatures" progresses, we see him understand the author sent him a text file for the story, he's gained a speed reading perk, and gains the ability to do things like see character profiles for people he interacts with to know who they are and where he stands with them.
In execution, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint feels like it incorporates a lot of different fantasy genre elements from the last five to ten years from Asian media in a way that makes it feel compelling and fresh, even though you can also see how other concepts might have inspired singNsong. While this is taking place in our real-world setting, the incorporation of these more fantastic and otherworldly element makes this feel like an isekai story in a way. In particular, the ones in which our protagonists are fortunate enough to "reincarnate" in a way that puts them at an advantage. Dokja has that, but it's because he read a web novel. While it can feel similar, it's different enough to be compelling.
It's also offering a more perfectly channeled "what if we were in our favorite world" experience. Dokja is going through what we as readers, players, and viewers likely experienced at one point in our lives. This means as we go through the experience singNsong sets up, we get an idea of how we'd fare. Because things don't go exactly as Dokja read or expected. Which is how things would happen in the unlikely instance our own daydreams would become real. Seeing his responses based on knowledge from the book, and then likening it to how we might react in similar situations, is fascinating.
What I also appreciate about Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is that while Dokja is our hero and the character we're connecting with, he isn't the hero. As he points out throughout the story, Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse established Joonghyuk Yoo as the web novel's hero. So we get this interesting approach where-in we can still get the sort of "self-insert" experience as a result, even though Dokja is clearly leading the story and making major differences throughout.
Also, as a quick aside, Hye Young Im did a wonderful job translating the Omniscent Reader's Viewpoint novel. It remains compelling and is a great read.
The Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint novel uses its premise to offer a different approach to an isekai and perhaps even self-insert sort of story, allowing us to read through the experience of someone getting to "live" through their favorite story. The execution setting up Dokja as a hero and his situation works well, especially in this first volume. It builds connections. SingNsong's narrative decision to still portray the web novel's "established" hero as a lead even still allows us to more deeply connect with Dokja as being "like us." It's a strong and well-translated start.
Volume 1 of Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is available now through Yen Press, and volume 2 in the series debuts on Nov 18, 2025.

Creator ArcDestiny announced on Reddit that they created a mod for Haru Urara, the runaway hit character from Cygames' Umamusume: Pretty Derby, into Zenless Zone Zero. This is a cosmetic mod that replaces the existing S-Rank Agent Jufufu, so someone would need to have acquired that 2.0 character from the gacha in order to see and use the character in-game. The files are available via GameBanana. [Thanks, Jose8898!]
Since this is purely a cosmetic mod, there are no extensive character changes to include elements of the skills Haru Urara is known for in Umamusume: Pretty Derby in Zenless Zone Zero. She's functionally identical to Jufufu. However, she does wear her three-star unique racing outfit from the game.
There is also a video shared on the Umamusume: Pretty Derby subreddit briefly showing the Haru Urara Zenless Zone Zero mod in action. It starts with the Agent screen in the menu, which shows the cosmetic mod and the horsegirl performing Jufufu's animations. After that, there's footage showing her performing the EX Special Attack: Tiger Seven Forms Alt - Mountain-Descending Savage Tiger.
Here's the Reddit post showing in-game footage:
Since the Umamusume: Pretty Derby global launch, this character proved so popular that the influence spread to the real-life horse. When people learned they could pay to send food to her, it caused the website that made that possible to crash.
Umamusume: Pretty Derby is available for the PC and mobile devices. Zenless Zone Zero is on the PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices.

Grounded 2 is all set to go live in the last week of July, as players will be able to enjoy the upcoming adventure at Brookhollow in early access.
The upcoming launch won't be a full release but a preview of sorts, although the game will be available on both PC and consoles. Let's quickly take a look at when you can enjoy your new adventure and any information currently available about the full launch.
Table of contents
When will Grounded 2 release?
The early access goes live on July 29 for both PC and console users. You can use the following countdown to stay up to date with the release time.
The countdown is based on the following schedule.
The release timings are identical for both PC and consoles. This also means that there won't be any regional launch, and we can't use the New Zealand trick. When possible, the trick allows us to change the timings of our consoles and start playing a game early.
If you're an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate user, you should be able to start playing the game at the same time.
All Grounded 2 platforms
Typically, early access versions are released on PC. In the case of Grounded 2, console users will be able to join the adventure from day one. Here are all the available platforms for the early access/preview version.
For subscribers, the game will be added to both the PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate.
Grounded 2 full release countdown
As of writing, there's no information about the full launch, and it should depend on how the preview version develops over time in terms of new updates and features. Once we have confirmation, we will add the updated countdown to this section.

BitLife is continuing its summer celebrations with its Beach Vibes Only challenge. During the challenge, you'll learn what it's like to become a lifeguard, travel to South America, and go on tropical vacations. It's time to sit back, relax, and enjoy an easier event.
Table of contents
BitLife Beach Vibes Only challenge guide
BitLife's Beach Vibes Only challenge has five objectives to complete:
You won't need any special career packs or expansions for this challenge. Instead, you'll learn how to ride a bike, emigrate to another country, and pursue a lifeguard job.
Be born in California
The first task of this challenge is to be born in California. You can do this by selecting the United States as your country and cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Sacramento as your starting place. Your name and gender are entirely up to you.
![]()
You also don't need any specific stat requirements for this challenge. For now, age up your character and avoid committing any crimes, as you'll need a clean record for later tasks.
Ride a bike
You have two options for completing this next objective. As you age up, there's a chance your character's parents will gift you a bicycle. If this happens, you can find it through your Assets menu and ride it, knocking out the task instantly. Otherwise, wait until your character turns 18 before purchasing one through a bike shop.
![]()
Most bicycles cost between a few hundred to several thousands, depending on their type and condition. The choice is up to you, as their value won't impact the challenge. However, purchasing one in poor condition puts you at a higher risk of encountering an accident while riding it, so I recommend buying a new one.
Emigrate to Aruba
Once you're ready to move to another country, head into Activities, Emigrate, and look through the list until you find Aruba. If it doesn't appear right away, close and reopen the menu until you spot it.
![]()
Several possible outcomes are possible. If you use the Golden Passport, you can emigrate immediately without any issues. They can also deny your request if you have low health, no money, or a criminal record. Otherwise, you shouldn't have any problems emigrating.
Become a lifeguard
After arriving in Aruba, it's time to find a job. Head to Occupation, Part-Time Jobs, and scroll through until you find Lifeguard. It'll appear with an "SOS" emoji beside its name. If you don't spot it right away, age up or close and reopen the BitLife app before retrying.
![]()
You won't need any previous job experience or education for this role. However, having low health or a criminal record can cause the interviewers to deny you, so watch your stats beforehand.
Go on vacation to the Maldives
The last task of BitLife's Beach Vibes Only challenge is to take a vacation to the Maldives. To do this, head into Activities, Vacation, and pick the Maldives as your destination. If it doesn't appear, age up or close and reopen the BitLife app like you did with the previous task.
Once you take a trip to the Maldives, you'll complete the challenge, rewarding you with a mystery cosmetic to use in future playthroughs.

Battlefield 6 is just around the corner, potentially revitalizing the ailing franchise and helping it reclaim its lost glory. Though, to do that, it'll have to be as amazing as possible, surpassing even the best entries into this long-standing series.
I haven't been this hyped for a BF game in a long, long while, so there's a lot of wishful thinking on my end. So, here is what I would love to see included in Battlefield 6.
Bigger, better, more awesome explosions
![]()
The one thing that made all of my hours in Battlefield 1 worthwhile is the explosion sound design. Whenever you're being shelled by artillery or bombarded by airplanes, you feel as if the explosions are going off right then and there. Hiding in a trench while everything around me is being blown to Kingdom Come is simply a feeling that never gets old, and I would absolutely love if EA included well-designed, impactful, and horrifying explosions in BF6.
Improved ballistics and feedback
![]()
Another thing about older Battlefields that was awesome but completely absent from 2042 is proper weapon and explosion feedback. In Battlefield 1, each shot of the gun feels visceral, and each explosion as realistic as they get. Even older BF titles, as far back as Bad Company 2, had a lot of good ballistic feedback and environmental destruction that made each match incredibly immersive.
In 2042, and to some degree in BF1 and V, I felt as if my ballistics weren't doing the damage they're supposed to. Destructibility is the name of the game in a realistic, all-out war game that Battlefield 6 aspires to be, and it simply cannot become one without it. We need every weapon and piece of equipment to blow buildings sky-high, take off people's limbs, and create the type of destruction and mayhem that makes immersive military shooters as fun as they are.
The return of classes and generic soldiers

Playing older Battlefield games, in spite of server sizes, always felt organized, as if every single player understood their role and assignment. Of course, you'll get matched with so many randoms that there are bound to be people picking whatever and doing whatever, but overall, a sense of organization remains.
This contributes to the game's battlefield simulation vibes, where Medics know their job, Assaults understand their assignment, and Snipers are bitchy campers at all times. All players get to operate within the confines of their own class, contributing to the team immensely by simply performing their duties.
Battlefield thus becomes a combination of arcade and milsim, which, with generic soldiers and no skins or characters (heroes), completely elevates it to another degree.
To achieve that same milsim vibe while still remaining arcady overall, Battlefield 6 needs to go for the grittier, more grounded, more warlike vibes of Battlefield 1 and prior, where players pick classes and do not control heroes like in 2042.
Map and location variety
![]()
While Battlefield shines the most on sprawling open maps, I would love to see a lot more variety in its levels than we have had in previous titles. Since it's going for modern warfare themes, we'll need a lot more urban environments, uneven mountainous regions, and maps featuring semi-trench warfare, as that's what we're seeing develop in current wars, such as in Ukraine.
This will add a lot of replayability to the game overall, with game modes like Breakthrough (Operations) able to make use of shifting environments to make each sector either open or closed, like we've seen in some previous BF titles.
If all maps end up being massive open spaces, it'll feel too arcade for my taste and be far removed from how warfare looks in modern times, which is more similar to WW1 than one'd imagine.
A proper single-player mode
![]()
It's been a long while since I've played a nitty-gritty single-player campaign in a first-person shooter. Ever since MW2019, we haven't received literally any good, realistic shooter campaigns, Black Ops' recent attempts notwithstanding.
The game's trailer showed a lot of promise for a potential single-player mode, and I sincerely hope DICE pulls something good off, since I'm starved for it.

Abiotic Factor puts you in the shoes of a feeble ol' Black Mesa scientist, right as the experiment had gone wrong. Taking a lot of inspiration from the original Half-Life, this indie survival game is one of the best you can get, and is finally out of Early Access hell.
Developed by Deep Field Games, Abiotic Factor released its 1.0 update on July 22 and is climbing the Steam indie ladder steadily, drawing in players old and new. I've played a lot of the game back when it was still in early development stages, and while it was already super interesting then, it's come a long way since.

Abiotic Factor puts you in the shoes of a Black Mesa-like scientist during a Resonance Cascade-like incident, which saw otherworldly creatures come and invade our own floating space rock to exploit its resources. While not directly set in the Half-Life universe, the similarities are striking, and the developers have not been shy about admitting the source of their inspiration.
On its own, however, Abiotic Factor remains one of the most unique survival crafting experiences out there. You and your friends are stuck in a massive underground research facility and must survive through an alien invasion by doing the usual survival-crafting list of tasks, such as setting up a base, finding food and water, crafting better and better gear, and so on.
You explore a lot of this facility, meet hostile robots and otherworldly creatures, get hunted during the night, and try your best to leave.
When I first played, there weren't many levels outside of the facility itself, but with 1.0, it now sports a wide range of levels and locations, all of which you must traverse while completing challenging missions. Its 1.0 update also added a ton of additional content, so if there was ever a time to get it, it's now.
It's addictive, fun, and has an unforgettable style, mixing into its own formula a lot of Half-Life ingredients that make it all the more familiar. And you cannot tell me you've never wondered what it'd be to play as a feeble Black Mesa scientist that isn't the godlike Gordon Freeman.

Just this year alone, we'll be getting quite a few Soulslikes. Coming from both recognizable and new studios, the age-old formula continues kicking, perhaps more than it ever has. But, instead of getting excited, I'm as tired as I ever was of the same old regurgitated design.
The Soulslike fatigue
![]()
The Soulslike fatigue should become an official psychological term meant to describe the appearance of the "it's all so tiresome" mentality in people who just can't keep up with so many games in the genre. Just in 2025, we've received Elden Ring: Nightreign, a new major DLC for Lies of P, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and will see Phantom Blade: Zero probably soon. On top of this, countless indie games following the Soulslike design philosophy will have arrived by this point, with more to come by the end of the year and onwards.
I mean, don't get me wrong, the Soulslike genre is probably one of my favorites, and if it wasn't good, we'd not have all these studios gunning for it. It sells well, usually plays well, and is overall a fun experience.
But having so many titles come out, costing so much and taking up so much gaming space, is alienating players from the genre. Just like MOBAs were cropping up left and right around the time League of Legends came out, we're seeing Soulslikes drop all around us like there's no tomorrow. It is reminiscent of the battle royale craze, or even the "Vampire Survivors-like" trend, where every single development studio believed they had to have these modes or else their game would be "left out" of the market.
Seeing Soulslikes at just about every corner is tiring. What made it special is now merely a fact of life, and since most of these new titles do not feature much in the ways of uniqueness, it's just generating a lot of fatigue for the core formula.
We need a new trend, and we need it fast
![]()
Trends shape gaming in this day and age, unfortunately. Whatever's popular with the kids these days is what will be developed and created the most, with a few studios making exceptions and considering games as art rather than as products.
In a highly corporatized environment, one where studios and developers don't even need to be corporate per se, trends open up the floodgates for whatever new genre or design philosophy is popular.
Friendslop games, as they are jokingly called, completely overtook the indie gaming market, with every other game being a striking copy of Lethal Company or adjacent to it. It's just what happens whenever anything hits the front pages of social media.
What we need is for someone to come in with some evolutionary formula that is neither friendslop nor Soulslike, but something new and unique that others will follow for a while. There is no escaping trend-chasing; it's a fact of life like anything else.
And, if it must be so, I just want to see something other than Dark Souls #18674 popping up at every State of Play, Xbox Showcase, Game Awards, and other events.

Killing Floor 3's customization options hit their peak with the skills system that you can unlock for all builds, and doing so will help you to play better.
All Perks in the game come with three separate types of skills to unlock. You can earn Proficiency points to do so, but they are limited in quantity. In simple words, you can't have unlimited skills for any Perk, so it becomes essential to invest appropriately.
Table of contents
Best Killing Floor 3 skills
All six builds improve significantly when you use the correct skills.
![]()
Medic
The role of a Medic is simple: heal your allies and dish out as much supporting damage as possible.
Commando
The Commando is a jack-of-all-trades character, but you'll get the biggest benefits by improving the amount of damage he can do.
Firebug
The Firebug has plenty of ways to deal heat damage to enemies.
Ninja
The Ninja Perk is really interesting due to its reliance on melee damage, but it has some amazing skills to make up for the lack of guns.
Sharpshooter
The Sharpshooter, when played right, can dish out devastating amounts of damage.
Engineer
The Engineer is a hybrid Perk that can play as both a support and a DPS.
While the skills above are among the best possible options for the respective Perks, you can follow your own choices. Ultimately, every Perk is best played according to your playstyle, and it's essential to have fun as well.

Killing Floor 3 has a pretty robust crafting system in place for the players to explore, and you can make different mods to customize the guns in your armory.
Every Perk has signature weapons to use, and they can be upgraded with the help of mods. However, the mods require resources to craft them in the first place. The easiest way to get crafting materials is from zeds. However, every zed drops only specific types of this, so let's take a look at how to obtain all of them.
Table of contents
How to get all crafting materials in Killing Floor 3?
Crafting materials drop randomly; killing a zed doesn't guarantee a drop. The only exception to this rule, in my observation, is boss enemies like Chimeras, Impalers, and Queen Crawlers. You will always obtain Ichor from defeating them, but the quantity can vary.
How to craft mods in Killing Floor 3?
Once you have enough crafting materials in your inventory, go to the Armory.
![]()
That's how easy it is to craft different items in Killing Floor 3. You can also apply your created mods and save the customized loadouts to use them in a round. Do note that mods raise the acquisition cost of that gun, so you should balance any new additions.
