PCGamesN Monday, September 1, 2025 12:59 PM The Lego games all have a special place in my heart. There's something so relaxing about jumping into a brick-based adventure in a familiar setting. This goes doubly for Lego The Lord of the Rings, which combines my favorite book with the comedy action of a Lego caper. However, I haven't played the game in years. It's one that I've been meaning to go back to, but never get the chance. I downloaded it on my Steam Deck when I got that, but the game simply wouldn't run. That's just changed, though, as the game's latest update has made it Deck Verified. |

PCGamesN Monday, September 1, 2025 12:31 PM One unlucky gamer has reported that their ASRock motherboard has fried not one, but two AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D gaming CPUs. According to the report, despite already claiming a replacement CPU from AMD for the first burned-out 9800X3D, the gamer has now seen a second one fail using the same ASRock board. Worryingly, it looks like this gamer was also running the recent ASRock motherboard BIOS update that the company believed fixed this issue. The 9800X3D is our favorite choice for gamers right now, topping our best gaming CPU list, but if you're using it with an ASRock motherboard, you'll want to make sure it's up-to-date with the latest BIOS updates first. PCGamesN Monday, September 1, 2025 11:44 AM Microsoft has responded to reports that a recent Windows 11 security update has caused gaming SSDs to fail. According to the company, a "thorough investigation" left the company in no doubt that its recent KB5063878 security update isn't the cause behind these mysterious drive failures. Despite those earlier Windows 11 SSD failure reports, Microsoft hasn't been able to replicate the issue on its own Windows 11 PCs. That leaves plenty of unanswered questions, especially with regards to identifying the cause behind the issue. While plenty of drives have so far not been listed as affected, such as Samsung 990 Pro and WD Black SN7100 that you can find on our best gaming SSD guide, there's still cause for concern until the reason for the problem is resolved. PCGamesN Monday, September 1, 2025 11:33 AM I'm a sucker for a game with a unique style and interesting art direction. I don't care if it's an MMO I've never played before or a deckbuilding FPS life sim. If it looks good, I'm in. Mortal Sin drew my attention during its early access period because it did just that. It eschewed the modern triple-A trend of chasing hyper-realism in lieu of doing something interesting with its art. It just so happened that the dungeon crawling gameplay was more than a match for the stellar aesthetic. Now it has released v1.0, and more players than ever are jumping in to bash some demons. PCGamesN Monday, September 1, 2025 10:10 AM Japanese horror has long been held in regard for its use of spirituality, agonizing tension-building, and social subversion to inspire abject dread in its audience. The original 1998 version of The Ring, Ryu Murakami's Audition, and pretty much anything ever produced by Junji Ito are all cases in point. Whereas western horror had a penchant for slashers, Japan was always the master of atmosphere. Nowadays, the distinction between the two isn't so clear, as inspiration has continually cross-pollinated, more so from east to west. Silent Hill has traditionally straddled the two spheres, blending the visceral with the implicit. Silent Hill f can be considered a modest departure from this formula, as NeoBards drags the iconic series away from its western trappings, and back to Japan with plenty of kicking and screaming involved. Speaking to PCGamesN at Gamescom, series producer Motoi Okamoto and game director Ai-Yang explain why it's bringing Silent Hill home. MORE FROM PCGAMESN: New PC games, Best PC games, Free PC games |

The studio had been working on an online multiplayer sci-fi action game, with contributions from a number of ex-BioWare and Bethesda staff including Fallout 76 design lead Mark Tucker and senior producer Scott Malone. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 1, 2025 11:31 AM ![]() No videogame fantasy setting will ever disquiet me as much as an empty business park at night under blue and yellow floodlights. A business park, or the access road down the side of a corrugated steel warehouse, where the alcoves cast by the LEDs look like a procession of hooded figures beneath the fixed, unblinking blackness of the sky. I can't actually be present in that scene, mind. I don't belong there. No being does, not even the people who come by day to fill the striped lines with cars or raise the shutters on the loading bays. Instead, I have to be travelling past very fast. Preferably, I will be looking out the window of a train that shows the place for only a few seconds. I will feel as though I've glimpsed another planet's scrolling surface in a mirror. Except this isn't right. I will never find the words for it. Nothing written above is adequate. Balls. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 1, 2025 10:58 AM ![]() Remember when, back in the day, you made the trek through the ashlands to Red Mountain? Within, you encountered an unforgettable foe. "Come, Nerevar. Friend or traitor, come. Come and look upon the Heart, and Akulakhan. And bring Wraithguard... I have need of it", they said. "Heed my words. I am Malenia. Blade of Miquella. And I have never known defeat." Okay, so maybe not, but it's a nice image with which to open the news that a modder's managed to port the entirety of Morrowind's landmass into Elden Ring. It's still very much a work-in-progress, as you might expect given its version of Vvardenfell's populated by copies of the same random woman and goats, but it certainly makes for a surreal watch. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 1, 2025 9:14 AM ![]() Escape from Tarkov is finally emerging from an early access period that will have lasted nearly a decade, when its full release on November 15th rolls around, and you'll soon be able to grab it on Steam. Yep, it's taken yeaaaaarrrssss. Tarkov's initial alpha release came on August 4th, 2016, just a few days before No Man's Sky arrived for the first time, and just after a little game called Stardew Valley dropped. Think about what you were doing back then. I was a teenager, still far from the job-having husk I've since morphed into. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 1, 2025 7:43 AM ![]() Stardew Valley will get at least one more significant game update, says Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, mere months after stating that he doesn't "want to just be the Stardew Valley guy." It'll be called update 1.7, and the trimness of the numbering implies that it'll be a large one. For context, Stardew Valley update 1.6 brought eight player PC co-op, new crops, a lot more NPC dialogue, a mastery system, new pets, and the ability to give those pets hats (which caused a few problems). |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 1, 2025 7:02 AM ![]() Team Cherry have confirmed release times and price points for Hollow Knight: Silksong. It'll cost $19.99, €19.99 and ¥2300 at launch on Thursday 4th September, with pricing for other regions such as the UK to follow. As an indication, the above pricepoints equate to around £17, but I wouldn't be surprised if they charged £19.99 for it, purely for the sake of symmetry. It's traditional among games journalists to illustrate pricepoints in terms of high street chain cups of coffee. But this is Silksong, a game anticipated as fervently as the ancient Mayans once anticipated the coming of an eclipse, so I will resort to more ornate means of comparison: Silksong will cost you 4200000th as much as a B-52 Stratofortress. It will cost you three-sixteenths of your soul on a rainy Friday, or two-sixteenths if the sun is out. It will cost you considerably less than they could probably charge for it. I'm not saying we should be grateful, mind, but we can breathe a sigh of a relief that this isn't being published by EA, Take-Two or Microsoft. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Monday, September 1, 2025 6:44 AM ![]() Update: Developer Dee Keyes has confirmed to RPS that they're no longer part of the Skyblivion team. "My departure and choice to write my statement came when I'd discovered that another one of our longtime volunteers, KettleWitch, had left over the same issues," they continued. They claim KettleWitch's effort to voice concerns about the communication on the project and the team's ability to hit the announced release date goal was met with "no real concern" and that when the modder subsequently left the Skyblivion team "no announcement was made to the team and we weren't even made aware that one of our old guard had left." "This was the push for me to finally leave since it seemed like any attempt for me to do the same would just be met with the same apathy," Keyes said. "I know to [Skyblivion project lead] Rebelzize this has come out of nowhere, but there were more than enough warning signs that were ignored. If our leaving shocks them into listening to the rest of the developers' feelings then some good will have come from it. "I'd also like to stress [that] my desire for the project delaying isn't so that we can keep adding feature creeps, but just to get the minimum viable product done without breaking our backs over it. It's a sad day in the industry when even passion projects are rushed and induce crunch." Original story continues below: A long-standing member of unofficial Oblivion remake Skyblivion's development team has claimed the project is being "rushed out the door", and that its previously stated 2025 release goal is "pointless and unachievable". These claims were made by modder Dee Keyes in a Twitter post put up over the same weekend that the Skyrim mod showed off its opening fifteen minutes as part of Elder Scrolls modding showcase Creation Mod Con. Keyes is currently listed as a world designer on the team page of Skyblivion's website, having previously served as level design department lead, and has appeared in the likes of this dev diary posted to project lead Kyle 'Rebelzize' Rebel's YouTube channel in 2021. |

Auto-trade is live in Path of Exile 2, which is part of the third major update of the game's early access, and it allows you to mediate the purchase and sale of different items.
The latest addition, already announced in advance, is perfect for those approaching the endgame (of what's available in the current build). It saves you from micromanaging your purchases and sales, but you'll have to clear a fair bit of early-game content to use the system.
Table of contents
How to enable Auto-trade in Path of Exile 2?
You must appoint Ange as a Merchant NPC to enable this unique system. You'll have to complete the Hostile Takeover quest to do that task. Completing this quest allows you to get Ange as the Merchant NPC, who then acts as your mediator for establishing and completing all automatic trades.

How to use Auto-trade in Path of Exile 2?
Before the update arrived, we had to trade using the Premium tabs. The Premium tabs have now been converted to Merchant tabs (if you owned them before the update and acquired them via microtransactions). You can also purchase more Merchant tabs from the shop via microtransactions.
First, select an item or items that you want to sell. Go to Ange, which will allow you to trade items or exchange currency. Choose the items you wish to trade, and then place the goods in her inventory. Next, set the price you expect to receive from your items, and Ange will automatically list them on the servers.
Now wait for the sale to complete, and you'll get a notification when it does. Return to Ange, and you'll get your currency from her. You'll need at least one Merchant tab to use the system (this includes any Premium tabs that have been converted).
Purchasing the items remains similar, as you scout them on the website. Instead of Whisper, you'll get a Secure Item option. Click on it, and you'll be taken to the seller's hideout. Pay the correct amount, and complete the trade to add the item to your tab.

I have reason to believe Silksong's launch will be close to the top five of all time in Steam peak players. I'm not saying this just because of sheer wishlist estimates, but because of past releases of the same scale that fell between the one and two million concurrents range.
You could argue that the most obvious way to estimate Silksong player numbers on launch day, Sept. 4, is to look at wishlist numbers. However, Steam doesn't reveal wishlist counts, just followers. You could trust third-party websites that estimate Silksong is close to 5 million wishlists, but even if that's close to reality, it doesn't mean everyone who's wishlisted the game will buy and play it as soon as possible. That's why I believe it's easier to look at other games that were just as hyped as Silksong and how they performed after release. All numbers in this story are based on SteamDB's peak charts.
Looking at followers alone, we could argue Silksong's peak will be between 700,000 and 1 million players. That's the all-time high of other highly anticipated single-player titles with similar followers, like Cyberpunk 2077 (1 million), Elden Ring (953,000), and Baldur's Gate 3 (875,000).
However, Silksong will cost $19.99, significantly less than the price range of all these other games, which range between $39.99 and $59.99. So, I believe Silksong has better potential to convert wishlists into early purchases because of price alone. If that happens, I'm sure Silksong will easily break past 1 million concurrent players.
Any game's peak audience, including Silksong's, is partly influenced by the country where most of its player base lives. While Steam Charts and SteamDB don't show player counts per region, we can estimate by how many reviews a game has in each language. The more Chinese reviews a game has, for example, the more players from China it should have.
Two of the three games that broke the 2 million all-time Steam players have a high number of Chinese reviews: PUBG and Black Myth: Wukong. Hollow Knight's Chinese to English review ratio is closer to that of Palworld, the third game that broke the 2 million barrier. Assuming the audience of Silksong will be roughly the same as Hollow Knight's, and considering that Silksong will be on Game Pass on launch day just like Palworld, I believe Silksong has the potential to get close to 2 million concurrent players.
But unlike Palworld, Silksong is exclusively a single-player game. We won't see friends inviting each other like we saw in Palworld. Multiplayer helps boost the number of concurrent players, so Silksong not having it could result in fewer concurrent players than Palworld.
All the games I've mentioned are on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, just like Silksong will be. But Silksong is the only one on the list that will also be on the Nintendo Switch, a console that is already the perfect fit for Hollow Knight. It's reasonable to expect people who played Hollow Knight on the Switch will also play Silksong there, making it one more console for Silksong's playerbase to dilute into and reduce its Steam peak.
Silksong's price and wishlist estimates are why I think it will have more than 1 million concurrent Steam players. The regions where Silksong is popular, the fact that it's a single-player game, and its release on all big platforms aside from PC are why I think it won't get past 2 million.
My guess is that Silksong will probably have its all-time peak between Sept. 5 and 7, the weekend of its release. That's when people who started the game early on Sept. 4 will still be playing, while those who were too busy will use the weekend to kick things off.
All these estimates are just speculation, of course, because I'm an analytics nerd and it's fun. In the end, as long as you believe you'll have fun with Silksong, you should get the game and play it whenever you want, regardless of how many people are doing the same.

City builders have always been a fun time, but the real peak for me was way back in the day with Sim City 2000. My word, I sunk endless hours into that game. Mostly just starting new games, because I couldn't keep my city profitable at first, but still, a fun time.
Not too long ago, I spent some hours with Cities: Skylines and its sequel, and it was fun enough. But honestly, it quickly became more of a traffic planner than a city builder. Traffic jams everywhere, all the time.
I also found myself with a consistent lack of educated employees, despite eventually constructing educational buildings on just about every block out of sheer frustration. These businesses with missing employees would eventually close down, and leave me to hunt for these condemned buildings and bulldoze them to create space for new businesses.
This and many other issues quickly sucked the fun out of the Cities franchise for me. Maybe city builders are best left in the past.
Then I found Tropico 6 in the PlayStation Plus catalog. I remember watching my older brother play previous titles in the series, and I thought they looked boring. But I had this sudden itch to play a city builder on console (or else I could always boot up Manor Lords on the PC). So I downloaded Tropico 6, and I don't regret it one bit.
Am I just getting old, or is this a city builder worth its salt?
Tropico 6 is actually a really good city builder
![]()
Having never played a Tropico game, I always thought of them as meme games. Simple, silly games not meant for serious gamers (says the guy with almost 150 hours in Stardew Valley). But upon booting up Tropico 6 for the first time, I was a little overwhelmed by the tutorial. There was a lot to remember.
Now, being overwhelmed by a tutorial is usually a sign of bad game design, but city builders are different. You want to feel overwhelmed in the beginning, because that means you're facing a game with some complexity. And while more simplistic city builders are fun enough, they lack the staying power of more complex titles.
Little did I know that I would discover one of the most fluid and complex city builders I'd ever played.
It doesn't have quite as many moving parts as something like Cities: Skylines II, but Tropico 6 brings a different flavor to the table. The kind where you can play however you want, and there are countless possibilities.
Do you want to be a benevolent leader who cares for the needs of the people and strives for prosperity? A tad vanilla, but to each their own. Do you prefer to build a prison island where the inmates are your main source of income? Go right ahead. You can be an authoritarian dictator who hosts "fair" elections by adjusting the polls and arresting your opposition.
And that's just off the top of my head. There are endless blends between these playstyles, and probably a whole lot more that I haven't even thought of yet. For now, I'm having loads of fun with the game, pushing the limits and seeing just how far I can go before an all-out coup destroys my rule.
While I work towards building a one-million-dollar Swiss bank account, I highly suggest you check out Tropico 6 if you haven't yet, especially if you've never played the series before. It's currently on the PlayStation Plus catalog for free, so give it a go while you can.
However, if you're a fan of the series, the communities I've visited seem to think the latest entry in the series actually falls a bit short. I'm curious as to what you think. Drop a vote on the poll below, and leave me your thoughts on the series—or other great city builders you've recently played—in the comments down below, and let's get a discussion going.

The Hostile Takeover quest is one of the main additions in Path of Exile 2 that you can unlock after gaining access to Act 4, and this guide will help you complete all the steps.
If you're a new player, expect to spend significant time clearing the first three acts. Once you reach Act 4, speak with Ange in Kingsmarch. This unlocks the Hostile Takeover quest for you. The entire quest can be divided into four key parts, which are straightforward.
Table of contents
How to complete Hostile Takeover in Path of Exile 2?
As you reach Kingsmarch in Path of Exile 2, locate Ange and speak with her to begin the quest automatically.
Defeat Diamora, Song of Death
Your first task is to travel to Whakapanu Island and search for the entrance to Singing Caverns. The caverns are located on the opposite side of the island. Here, you'll find Diamora, Song of Death. Diamora isn't the hardest of enemies you'll encounter, but you'll have to dodge some of her attacks. This will create chances for you to land your combos (doesn't matter what build you're going for) and complete this part of the quest.
![]()
Return to Ange
Once Diamora is taken care of, return to Kingsmarch and speak to Ange. She will then give you the next part of your quest.
Clear enemies in Shoreline Hideout
This part of the task is relatively simple once you have traveled to Shoreline Hideout. The enemies aren't very lethal, but they hunt you in squads. Focus on them separately, keep your distance (if you have melee builds), and dispatch them one at a time.
Go to Hideout
Once Shoreline Hideout is cleared, return to Ange using your Hideout option. Once the previous step is done, speaking with Ange concludes the quest, and she becomes a new Merchant NPC.
Path of Exile 2 Hostile Takeover rewards
There are two major rewards of this quest. You unlock the Shoreline Hideout and get to add Ange as a Merchant NPC, which unlocks Auto-trading.

The LEGO Pokémon collection coming out in 2026 features an expensive set, according to unofficial leaks. This rumored Pokémon set would have 6,838 pieces at a price point of $649.99, which is $150 more than buying an actual Pokémon game, Legends: Z-A, bundled with the Nintendo Switch 2 for $499.99.
This expensive LEGO Pokémon set hasn't been revealed by official sources, but the lack of information didn't stop fans from speculating why the set has more than 6,800 pieces. Fans from the Lego Leak subreddit guess it could be anything from a specific Pokémon's Mega Evolution, an evolution form central to Legends: Z-A, to a set with minifigures for all the original 151 Pokémon. I tremble in fear just thinking about what scalpers would do to the LEGO stock if the minifigures theory turned out to be right.
The price of this massive LEGO Pokémon set isn't confirmed either. The numbers come from an alleged leak shared in that same Lego Leaks subreddit, a source that's generally trusted by LEGO collectors who want early information on upcoming sets. If this 6,800-piece behemoth really costs $649.99, it will be the fifth most-expensive set in the LEGO Store today, just behind the 9,090-piece LEGO Titanic and slightly ahead of the 10,001-piece Eiffel Tower.
Two smaller LEGO Pokémon sets are reported to be released alongside the large one. The cheapest of all would be $59.99 and feature 587 pieces, while the medium would be $199.99 and come with 2,050 pieces. What Pokémon or characters these rumored sets will come with is still a mystery.
The potentially high price point of the LEGO Pokémon collection shows how niche it could be. While collectors will surely kill to get their hands on these sets, regular Pokémon fans like myself will probably keep the price comparison with the Switch 2 and Legends: Z-A bundle in mind.
I can't wait to see what LEGO sets are coming out in this Pokémon partnership, but I'll probably save my money for the actual Pokémon games.

The new Museum update brings another way you can get various boosts based on which minerals you display in the Museum. Different minerals give different effects and the effects increase based on rarity, modifiers and size. Here are all Prospecting Museum effects and boosts.
Table of contents
Prospecting Museum Boost Guide
![]()
Essentially, Prospecting Museum effects give you a boost (All effects detailed below) when you display a mineral. You have to pay shards to display a mineral. The multiplier of the boost becomes greater based on mineral rarity and weight/size. Also, you can get extra boosts from minerals if they have a modifier. So I highly recommend displaying your heaviest mineral with the rarest modifier you can find. Here are all modifier effects before we dive into individual mineral effects:
The values for each modifier Museum boost effect depend on the rarity of your mineral. It's 0.01x for Commons, Uncommons and Rares, 0.02x for Epics, 0.03x for Legendaries, 0.05x for Mythics and 0.1x for Exotics. Now let's dive into all individual Mineral Museum effects below.
Common Ore Museum Effect
The base Museum boost for Common minerals can go up to 0.05x. Note that these are just base boost without modifiers for all rarities. The modifier Museum boosts are above. Here are all of them:
Uncommon Ore Museum Effect
The base Museum effect for Uncommon minerals/ores can go up to 0.08x. Here are all of them:
Rare Ore Museum Effect
The base Museum effect for Rare minerals/ores can go up to 0.13x. Here are all of them:
Epic Ore Museum Effect
The base Museum effect for Epic minerals/ores can go up to 0.2x. Here are all of them:
Legendary Ore Museum Effect
The base Museum effect for Legendary minerals/ores can go up to 0.3x. Here are all of them:
Mythic Ore Museum Effect
The base Museum effect for Legendary minerals/ores is different based on individual minerals and some even give multiple boosts so I'll list them specifically below. They go from 0.25x up to 1x. Flarebloom even decreases something. Here are all effects:
Exotic Ore Museum Effect
Similar to Legendary Museum effects, the Exotic base Museum boosts increase or decrease multiple stats. They go from 0.5x to 1.5x. Here are all the effects below along with the multiplier details:
That's it for my guide on all Prospecting Museum effects and boosts. Check out our Enchants tier list and guide for more Prospecting guides.
Prospecting Museum Effects FAQ
What determines the boost effect value for Prospecting Museum boosts? Higher rarity minerals have greater boosts and also the higher the weight of your mineral, the greater the Museum boost. Does it cost anything to display a Mineral in the Museum? Yes, displaying a mineral costs shards. Do mineral mutations/modifiers affect Museum effects? Yes, each modifier has an additional unique Museum effect that it applies to the mineral (You can check all modifier Museum effects in the first section). What is the modifier Museum effect boost value? Modifier Museum effects can give you boosts of 0.01x up to 0.1x depending on Mineral Rarity. Are there negative Museum effects? Yes, the Flareboom and Cryogenic Artifact Museum effects both have a downside in addition to the boost. You can check out the precise details for both in their respective sections above.

VC is the most crucial currency to obtain in NBA 2K26, and it can be hard to get at first.
If you haven't opted for the premium version of the game, you'll begin with a handful of VC that you'll burn through quickly. However, VC is required for almost any critical aspect of the game. In MyCareer, VC is needed to level your build quicker (the grind can become monotonous otherwise). In MyTeam, VC is used to open packs and improve your squad.
Thankfully, there are a few key ways to earn more VC in the game (aside from opening your wallet).
How do you earn VC for free in NBA 2K26?
One easy way to obtain VC in NBA 2K26 is from the Season Passes. The Season 1 pass is currently live, and it offers 40 different levels of rewards. Those who opt for the premium upgrade will get at least 30,000 extra VC over the course of the season. However, that's going to cost you more money. If you don't want to spend more after what you have already spent on the game, here are key notes to remember.
In a nutshell, this is all you can do to get VCs.
Also, NBA 2K occasionally hands out codes that reward VCs. These codes are extremely rare and have limited redemption. If you're quick enough with them, you can land extra VC. However, it's luck-based, so I haven't accounted for them. You can't do them infinitely, unlike the methods mentioned here.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is only a few days away, and Team Cherry has released a slew of new details, including its eye-widening price, which defies all price rises in the industry this year and then some.
The game is set to launch at just $20, which feels like a steal for a massive game like this, and even if you can't afford it, it'll be available day one on Xbox Game Pass on Sept. 4, as well. But that isn't the only detail Team Cherry has revealed.
The indie studio has also revealed the exact time players will be able to jump in and play, with the game launching at 9am CT, so anyone waking up in the States will be able to download and play on Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and more devices pretty early. At the same time, other European countries will need to wait until after work hours to get started and finally give it a try.
This has led me to ask the obvious. Will you be picking this one up? It is clearly one of the most highly anticipated games coming and an easy Game of the Year contender from the get-go. But I'm curious how many will pick it up amidst all the hype, and after how many years it has been in the pipeline.
It feels like a lot of people will get it due to the low cost. Still, I'm also curious how many people are only here for the memes and the hype over actually playing it, and will instead wait to watch more skilled players upload YouTube videos or write articles like here on good old Destructoid explaining the ending and showcasing different guides.
So which party do you fall into? Let us know! And leave a comment to share your views, too!

As with other supposed leaks I have covered in the past for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, I want to state the usual disclaimer first. Nothing is real until the devs confirm it. Take everything you see with a pinch of salt, and nothing is confirmed. These articles are primarily intended to poke fun at or have fun with the numerous leaks that appear every day.
However, after the Mega Starmie leaks that continue to appear online from supposed leakers, the most recent one I have seen shared online by social media sites and content creators alike is giving me big Patrick Star vibes—and for all the wrong reasons.
I mean, see for yourself.
The most recent 'leak' showcased a Starmie with long legs like it's an anthropomorphic starfish that seems like something more out of SpongeBob SquarePants than Pokémon, with two long legs and a wavy body that looks so dumb, I can see why a lot of trainers think it's real, considering the direction Mega Pokémon have been going lately (looking at you, Mega Victreebell).
If this model is real, I cannot unsee the Patrick Star in fishnet meme of its long legs. You know the one, it's a well-known meme of the famous Starfish with long legs from the SpongeBob SquarePants movie. And I'm not alone in thinking this either.
And I use 'leak' here because, for those familiar with new Pokémon games, there is always a swamp of fake leaks that appear before a game's launch that seemingly look to prey on the hype of a very gullible Pokémon audience. Which is why I keep having to remind fans to believe things only when you see it in-game on October 16, or we get an official reveal video later down the line.
For now, I'm looking forward to seeing what new Mega Pokémon grace us and, if we are lucky, maybe a new Pokémon evolution, regional form, or something that isn't a Mega Pokémon at all... please?
