Abrams Books started bringing back classic 1980s mangas in omnibus form, and City Hunter is among them. It's 40 years old now, but still remains popular due to continuing adaptations like the live-action movie on Netflix. Given this compilation consists of the first three volumes of City Hunter, it's really best served as an introduction to exactly who Ryo Saeba is and what he's capable of, as we're seeing him fully established over multiple cases and situations.
Editor's Note: There will be some mild spoilers for the first City Hunter manga omnibus in the article below.
Four things are true about Ryo Saeba in the City Hunter manga and other adaptations, and they are that he is an incredibly skilled marksman, a Sweeper with a strong sense of justice, quite immature, and a something of a pervert. This is a flawed individual who still means well and is willing to investigate and execute missions. And what I love about many of the early missions in the manga is that it takes each of these isolated cases, shows his behaviors in each one, and shows how all of these facets can be true and not take away from what he's capable of doing to help people in the city who have no one else they can turn to.
![]()
The first few "cases" help exemplify this. The first involves a boxer who was killed by a rival while his doctor girlfriend was nearby. Our introduction to Ryo Saeba in City Hunter is him shouting angrily at a bookie because said boxer, who he bet on, died and his bet got moved to the replacement. It is immature, since he's wasting money gambling, and selfish, since he's focused on his own wants and needs. His initial response, when observing the client and hearing about the situation, is to be focused entirely on how hot she is. He even cops a feel when he first meets her. However, he's then wise enough to trace the new opponent for the offender as part of his investigation. When he does perform the hit and vengeance, he does so with a special shot during the match, to make it seem like the new opponent was strong enough to knock him out in one hit, in public, and refuses the payment from the grieving, dying girlfriend. So right away, we see all the complexities to him.
It carries over into his second assignment. A high school student is victim of a murderer, and her sister hires Ryo Saeba in the second chapter of the first City Hunter omnibus volume to potentially bring him to justice. When he hears about the case, he's upset because the teenager didn't get to grow up to become a beautiful woman, he meets the client at a strip club bar, and he again is lewd toward her. He then notes said location is where he gets many tips for cases, due to the nature of it, and gropes her. It's as they're talking, however, that he gets a signal that his intervention is needed. A kidnapped teenage runaway and the possible suspect for the case he's on is there. Ryo manages to kill him, save the girl, and handle the case, even though it means he put himself in danger. But, in so doing, he also saved innocent bystanders outside the bar and made an incredibly astute and skilled calculation.
I don't want to get into too many more examples, since it starts getting into spoilers and all, but every case in the first City Hunter omnibus manga really does a fantastic job of showing exactly how complex Ryo Saeba is. He can be a jerk! He can be gross! He's definitely obnoxious. However, he's also an incredibly skilled marksman, possesses street smarts, and knows how to approach situations in ways that protect people and prevent dangerous individuals from hurting and killing others. It really highlights all angles of his character.
Volume 1 of the City Hunter omnibus manga is available now, and the second one will appear on January 13, 2026.

Abrams Books brought back Tsukasa Hojo's Cat's Eye manga as a new omnibus series under its Kana label and, even though it's coming up on 45 years, it's one of this situations where you'd never realize it as a new reader. The themes involving strong women, a devoted family, a justified quest to retrieve a legacy, and a cat-and-mouse game with police and hidden identities, feel so relevant. It's all still so clever, and the sisters Rui, Hitomi, and Ai Kisugi are worth rooting for.
Editor's Note: There are minor spoilers for the first Cat's Eye manga omnibus volume below.
Given Cat's Eye is getting a new anime adaptation, folks might be familiar with the series. As a quick refresher, sisters Rui, Hitomi, and Ai are on a mission. Their father Michael Heinz fled Germany ahead of WWII with his massive art collection and came to Japan where he married and raised a family. However, he was forced to abandon them for their safety and flee to the US, and everything he made was scattered. The three hope to find out where he is, and get some sense of peace, by getting everything back. The eldest Rui plans things, Hitomi tends to primarily acts as the actual thief, and the high school prodigy Ai creates devices and gear Hitomi would need on each job. They alert their intentions to steal an item with a calling card before each job as Cat's Eye. But by day, the three own and work at a cafe… also called Cat's Eye. And Hitomi is dating Toshio Utsumi, essentially the lead detective on the Cat's Eye thief case.
There… might be a little suspension of belief needed here. Calling your cafe Cat's Eye when you're also a burglary ring known as Cat's Eye and involved with the investigator is… a bit much.
![]()
Still, it does work, even though it feels a little gimmicky when you first hear the concept. The three sisters all come across as capable women. Hitomi is the most visible, as we see her on missions, dating Toshio, and in some especially poignant heists like one that involves stealing a painting her father did of her without her sisters' approval and pretending to be Mitsuko Asatani to help pull off a heist that would otherwise expose her double life to her boyfriend. But we do see Rui and Ai also step up in segments as assistants and backup in these early stories.
Also, after the introductory chapter, the fact that Hitomi is taking Toshio really makes sense. We can tell she does genuinely care for him. She willingly gives him an "edge" so he doesn't retire from the force due to failing to catch Cat's Eye so many times. But we also see how that insight into department business and tactics as his girlfriend is a huge asset to the sisters.
Even the artistic direction is fantastic. Hitomi, Rui, and Ai all dress sensibly for these missions, while still looking incredibly cool. The characters all look fantastic, with distinctive designs. There are a lot of details in every scene, especially when actual heists are happening. The action segments even feel well thought out, so show the sense of motion and athleticism Hitomi and her sisters possess.
The first Cat's Eye manga omnibus is really a great example of why this series endured over 40 years. There's a timeless nature to it. The heroines all come across as being very smart individuals, while also caring about each other and even Toshio. The motivations behind the thefts make sense. It all ends up being quite thrilling to read too, since there's almost a "monster of the week" sort of format with a new piece of art and approach each time. It's a great series to revisit.
Volume 1 of the Cat's Eye omnibus manga is available now, and the second one will appear on January 13, 2026.

CloverPit's gameplay loop depends largely on luck, i.e., the odds of your getting something great with each pull.
However, the "Luck" stat in the game isn't so clear, as it's never stated what it's supposed to be increasing or improving. Luckily (pun intended), we've got the answer, so here's everything you need to know about Luck in CloverPit.
CloverPit Luck, explained
![]()
The Luck stat in CloverPit boosts the odds of patterns you'll encounter. The higher your luck, the greater the odds of a particular pattern appearing in a pull. Luck does not determine what symbol will be in the pattern, but only gives you greater odds of encountering better patterns. For example, if your Luck is 15, you'll have exceedingly great chances to see a Jackpot, but it doesn't guarantee it'll be made up of 7s (which is the most valuable symbol).
So, Luck only gives you chances of encountering better patterns, but does not guarantee how many of those will appear, nor does it help you get better symbols more often. This last is reserved for appearance buffs, which are given via Red Button Charms, Phone Upgrades, and other Lucky Charms that grant guaranteed chances of seeing certain symbols in each pull.
The best strategy to go for is combining more Luck with appearance buffs, ensuring you're getting great patterns with even better symbols.

CloverPit is the latest indie smash hit, combining roguelite elements with gambling, much like Balatro did.
It also has a large assortment of items and charms that improve your odds of winning and seeing the cash flow from the slot machine. This includes the Corpse pieces, mysterious items attached to the machine itself whose purpose is never stated.
So, here's everything you need to know about the Corpse in CloverPit.
CloverPit Corpse, explained
![]()
Corpse parts in CloverPit are unique items that are equipped to the slot machine itself, rather than being counted among your charms. They appear in empty drawers every time you get a 666 on a spin, with a cap of one Corpse per round. If your drawers are full at the time, you won't get them.
Each equipped Corpse increases your total debt by five percent, which makes the game a lot more difficult. Additionally, Corpse parts work together with the Skull item, which, as opposed to Corpse, is purchased from the store. The Skull also attaches to the slot machine and adds a free random charm to your empty drawers for each Corpse you have equipped, making the extra debt a great trade-off.
You can also start the run with up to four Corpse pieces, depending on if you've had a charm in a drawer at the end of the previous run. Four charms in four drawers will grant four Corpses.
Having a full body with you, i.e. four Corpses and the Skull, will eventually let you unlock the Skeleton Key, allowing you to leave the room you're trapped in, winning you the game and granting one of its endings. You will have to have all four drawers unlocked, though, since the Skeleton Key replaces the Drawer Key reward.

FC 26's Web app (and Companion app) experience can be highly frustrating. That's where tools like Paletools can be handy despite the risk they carry.
The Web app has barely seen any significant upgrades over the last few years. It might be functional, but it lacks advanced features for Ultimate Team users. Many such functions can be enabled with third-party extensions like Paletools. However, these tools also carry risk, and this guide will help you understand Paletools better.
Table of contents
What is Paletools in FC 26?
Paletools is a browser-based extension that adds extra features to FC 26's Web app. For example, you can use the app to automatically solve a new SBC with cards already available in your club. You can also view your cards and their ongoing market price from within the app before putting them up for sale.
The app also has advanced features that make you more competitive when buying new cards. Most of the limitations of the native Web app are removed when you use Paletools. All the features are also free, making it perfect (on paper) for those who love menu grind.
That said, there's a sense of risk as well.
Is Paletools safe to use in FC 26?
Paletools is a third-party extension, and some of its features directly violate EA Sports' terms and conditions. As useful as Paletools is, using it continuously can be risky. Last year, there were instances when players had their accounts banned for using the extension. While that could have happened due to the use of the market sniper bot, it's best to avoid using such extensions, irrespective of how convenient they might be.

Having a successful run in Megabonk depends on multiple factors, and your Tomes will often decide how long the runs will be.
In simple words, Tomes are different modifiers that you can equip in your run. These modifiers either improve your stats or improve your weapons. Tomes have different in-game effects; you can only equip a limited number on a run.
As a result, you'll want to equip Tomes that are more effective in the current meta.

Complete Megabonk Tomes tier list
Unlike items and characters, grading Tomes is harder. Their usage often depends on your active build, but I have still used four different tiers to separate all available options.

The main room in CloverPit doesn't have many items, and you'll notice the big key located by the machine you use to repay your debt.
This key is locked, and the game says so when you try to obtain it. This guide will help you explain what you must do to get the key in CloverPit and how you can use it.
Table of contents
How to obtain the key in CloverPit
The key is awarded to you for defeating the game. Of course, there's no victory in CloverPit in the traditional sense, and the aim is to go as deep as possible. However, the first win condition is to complete four debt repayments.
This is precisely what you have to do to unlock the key.
While the task is tricky, you should be able to unlock the key once you repay a debt amounting to 12,500.
![]()
Once you've completed it, you'll be rewarded with the big key. You can only get one key from a run, even if you continue.
What to do with the key in CloverPit
Four drawers are available near the slots, which remain locked at first. You can use the key to unlock a drawer. These drawers are used to keep Lucky Charms and other items. You need one key to unlock a drawer. Unlocking all of them will require you to win at least a certain number of times, so be prepared to grind.
