Huh. It turns out Quantic Dream, makers of such decision-heavy dramas as Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human, haven't just been tinkering with their long-teased Star Wars: Eclipse. They're also taking a sharp turn into competitive multiplayer, announcing Spellcasters Chronicles: a 3v3, third-person, free-to-play MOBA full of aerial magefights and big stompy demon lads. Huh.

It's hard to imagine a starker departure from the studio's previous work, or a riskier one. The modern Multiplayer Online Battle Arena isn't so much a genre as a graveyard, with League of Legends and Dota 2 ambling around and occasionally sharing a knowing look between the headstones. Still, Spellcasters Chronicles seems determined to try, offering shorter, punchier matches and bigger maelstroms of hero-shooter spectacle.

The lawyers in Sony and Tencent's ongoing legal fracas over alleged Horizon homework-copier Light of Motiram continue to dish out the words. Letters, phrases, and sentences are being flung to and fro with reckless abandon. Sony are the latest corp to take a swing, not only calling Tencent's defense "nonsense", but accusing the Chinese conglomerate of playing shell company hide-and-seek.

If you need to catch up on the tale of this copyright clash, it began in July, when Sony brought about legal action accusing Tencent-published post-apocalyptic open worlder Light of Motiram of being a "slavish clone" of their Horizon series. Tencent battled back, filing a motion to dismiss the case last month. "Sony's effort is not aimed at fighting off piracy, plagiarism, or any genuine threat to intellectual property," Tencent claimed at the time. "It is an improper attempt to fence off a well-trodden corner of popular culture and declare it Sony's exclusive domain."

Digimon Story: Time Stranger Survey Asks for Opinions

Bandai Namco put out the call on social media for people's opinions and thoughts on Digimon Story: Time Stranger, as it shared a survey on the latest JRPG in the series. It is available until October 30, 2025. If you finish, you get a wallpaper based on this entry. The company also released a Terriermon Assistant video going over details from the title, complete with English subtitles if you turn on closed captions.

There are 27 questions total in the Digimon Story: Time Stranger survey, and many are asking opinions on exactly what you'd expect. It first asks if someone owns the game, how they got it, and when they got it. It also asked which edition and platform someone went with. From there, it gets into asking if someone played the demo first, started or finished the full title, as well as how long was spent playing so far. Bandai Namco also asked which difficulty level someone chose, how much they enjoyed it, and asked about satisfaction with things like scenario, the amount of content, the lineup of Digimon, the DigiFarm, and the battle system. It also asked if someone would recommend the game to others.

From there, Bandai Namco asked about a few specific things. One question asked why someone played Digimon Story: Time Stranger and offered a list of options and space to leave a more detailed opinion. The survey also asked if people like Digimon as a whole and if they experienced other media based on the series. It asked what led to someone's exposure to the line in the first place, as well as which games were played in the past.

Here's the full "Digimon Story: Time Stranger Details That You Didn't Notice" video hosted by Terriermon. English is the only official closed captions translation option. It basically goes over the smaller details about Digimon appearances and other gameplay and story elements as the character takes a quiz.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger is available for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Rest in Peace Tomonobu Itagaki

The final message from Tomonobu Itagaki has been published on his Facebook account. This heavily suggests that the creator of the Dead or Alive game series has already died.

Here is our translation of Tomonobu Itagaki's final message:

Bequeathed Statement

My light of life is about to run out.

If this letter has been posted, it means that time has finally come. I am no longer in this world.
(I entrust this final post to an important person)

My life consisted of successive battles. I kept on winning.
I caused a lot of inconveniences.

I'm proud of myself for fighting to the end while following my own belief.
I have no regrets.

However, to all my fans, I'm full of inexcusable feelings as I cannot deliver a new game. I'm sorry.

That's the way it is.
So it goes.

Tomonobu Itagaki

Tomonobu Itagaki was born on April 1, 1967, so he would be 58 years old at the time of death. He was best known for his tenure at Tecmo, which ran from 1992 until 2008. He founded and led Team Ninja in the company, and released the fighting game Dead or Alive as its first title for arcades in October 1996. The same team would also later reboot the 2D action game series Ninja Ryukenden to Ninja Gaiden as a 3D action game for Xbox in 2004.

Team Ninja has also published a statement about Tomonobu Itagaki's death on its social media account:

https://twitter.com/TeamNINJAStudio/status/1978756897231798606

After leaving Team Ninja and Tecmo in 2008, Itagaki joined Valhalla Game Studios. The latter company eventually released Devil's Third for Wii U in 2015. Itagaki stepped down as Valhalla's representative director in 2017, and the company was eventually absorbed by Soleil in 2021.

In 2021, Tomonobu Itagaki also revealed that he was establishing a new studio named Itagaki Games. Although he aspired to make more games in the studio, he could not release a new game at the time of his death, as written in his final letter.

How to Unlock the Furfrou Salon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Furfrou can appear in different in forms in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, which all depend on the possible trim you get for it, but the Furfrou Trimmer isn't available immediately. From what I've seen, you first need to unlock the Wild Zone that contains the Pokemon. Then, once you do, a side mission will appear nearby it that unlocks the feature.

Where is the Furfrou Salon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A?

You won't be able to even see an option for the Furfrou Salon in the game until side mission 47 appears on the Lumiose City map. From what I found, this doesn't open up until Wild Zone 11 is available. This happens as you progress the story.

Once the mission is available, you'll find it in this section of Jaune Sector 6, not far from Justice Dojo and the Northwest most corner of Wild Zone 11.

A woman named Mirte will be standing there with her Scyther. You need to have a Pokemon that knows the move Slash use that attack on the Substitute doll near her so Scyther can learn the move for trimming Furfrous. (If you picked Totodile, it knows it.)

After you do, Mirte and her Furfrou Salon will open for business and trims in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Unfortunately, this won't add an icon to the map showing where the Furfrou trimmer is for new trim forms at all times in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, even after you use her services. It will cost 500 for a cut, with Heart, Star, and Diamond initially available. Additional form options are unlocked via subsequent side missions like Side Mission 62: Becoming a Pro Furfrou Trimmer. Have a Pokemon with Razor Leaf on hand for that one!

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is available for the Switch and Switch 2.

Totodile Is the Best Pokemon Legends: Z-A Starter Pokemon

Pokemon Legends: Z-A kicks off with us very quickly getting an opportunity to permanently become best friends with one of Urbain's three Pokemon as our starter, with Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile as the three possible options. Listen. All three are good. All three can be viable. However, if you're looking for one to pick over the other two, I'm going to say Totodile every time.

It doesn't come down to movesets or typing. All three of the Pokemon Legends: Z-A starter Pokemon can be really helpful or the best fit for certain situations, and this isn't the sort of game where you really need to be concerned about countering certain types of opponents early on. Rather, I think Totodile is the one to pick in Pokemon Legends: Z-A because it takes a while before other really good "water" type characters show up.

Fire type? Within the first thirty minutes you'll catch a Fletchling during the tutorial and Pansears are frequently found hiding in trees growing on Lumiose City's streets. Grass type? Flabebes, Budews, and Bellsprouts are super common, and I saw more Pansages in trees than Pansears. When it comes to early water types, you're pretty much limited to Magikarps or Binacles after reaching your second Wild Zone, and I found Panpours were a little less common than the other two when exploring.

It's good for a practical reason too. One of the types of obstacles you'll need to remove from city streets to access different areas are piles of purple toxins. Totodile learns Water Gun not long after the tutorial, making it an helpful ally when traversing the city. It also is handy getting the ice-type Ice Fang move from it so early, since one of the only other options for an early ice attack is to get the Ice Punch TM from Mable research.

Of course, all of this is also somewhat moot. Within a few hours of playing, Mable will summon you to her research to pick one of the three Kanto starters for free. So you can choose a Bulbasaur, Charizard, or Squirtle. And if you're taking on side quests early on, you'll get a free Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie too within the first five hours too.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is available for the Switch and Switch 2.

Litwick as seen in the Pokédex in Pokémon Legends ZA

Litwick is restricted to the Sewers area in Pokémon Legends ZA. While some missions give you temporary access to that location, like finding the Revitalizing Twig in the Fennekin mission and clearing story quests, the sewers are only fully open after you complete a late-game quest.

Here's the step-by-step guide to unlocking the Litwick area and capturing it in ZA.

You can find and capture Litwick at night in the sewers of the Bleu Sector 3, located south of Wild Zone 5 and north of Wild Zone 12.

You unlock the sewers for good after completing Side Mission 57: The Camerupt Entrepreneur, which you can start near Zone 5 in the late game. While you can visit the sewer in other moments of ZA's main story, the entrance to that area after you complete the story quest will be blocked, so the only way to get permanent access is by completing this specific Side Mission.

Once you gain access, you'll need to have a Pokémon with a water-type move in your party so you can use it to remove the purple goop from the sewer entrance. Once you're in, look for Litwick in the open areas of the sewer, but be mindful that it's a rare spawn. If you don't find it, leave the sewers and enter again to reset the Pokémon in the area and hopefully get a Litwick on your second try.

With Litwick in your party, you can level it up to evolve it into Lampent. Then, buy a Dusk Stone in the Stone Emporium and use it on Lampent to evolve it into Chandelure. Finally, you can exchange 360 mega Shards to get a Chandelurite and gain access to Mega Chandelure in ZA.

LMR27 in Battlefield 6

Battlefield 6 has now been out for some time, allowing us to assess just what works the best in DICE's latest and (maybe) greatest shooter.

The game comes with dozens of weapons, ranging from low-caliber handguns to full-blown bazookas. However, not everything is quite good, or even viable, leading us to concoct this list of truly the best weapons in Battlefield 6. So, here's all you need to know.

Table of contents

M87A1

M87A1 shotgun in Battlefield 6.
An unstoppable force. Screenshot by Destructoid

Probably the best gun overall in the entire game, the M87A1 is the Assault class' specialist gadget, coming with it from level one. It's a one-shot kill from various ranges and retains its effectiveness even when used from far away. Though a shotgun, it maintains a high rate of fire, an obscene amount of damage, and reliability unlike anything else in the game.

It's so strong that just about everyone is rocking it, no matter their class, given that BF6's queue system is open and allows anyone to choose any weapon.

M2010 ESR

The M2010 sniper rifle in Battlefield 6.
Available early, kept forever. Screenshot by Destructoid

The Recon's starting weapon, the M2010 ESR offers everything you'd ever need in a sniper rifle. I recommended it as the most optimal gun for Recon overall, given that it's immediately available and so effective across a variety of scenarios. It works best at long range and can take out enemies from any distance so long as the shot is well-placed. With a range finder, it becomes super easy to use as well, while a bipod just streamlines the experience to the utmost.

It's quick, it's agile, and more than lethal, so make sure you stick with it as either a beginner or an advanced Recon.

PSR

The PSR .50 caliber sniper rifle in Battlefield 6.
No shooter is complete without a .50 cal. Screenshot by Destructoid

The .50 cal equivalent of the game, the PSR is a true beast of a weapon. An anti-materiel rifle, sporting a massive caliber and long-range capabilities, this sniper is the cream of the crop in terms of raw power. Whereas the M2010 might leave enemies wounded after a somewhat poorly-placed shot, the PSR is almost guaranteed to kill in the chest as well as the head, allowing for much more consistent sniping.

It's a huge, bulky piece of weaponry, so you'll be sacrificing some of that nimbleness to get extra stopping power, but that's a worthy price.

PW7A2

The PW7A2 weapon modelled after the MP7 in Battlefield 6.
MP7 is a staple of the genre. Screenshot by Destructoid

Dubbed by many as the most broken weapon in the game aside from the M87A1, the PW7A2, modeled after the real-life MP7 found in so many other shooters, is truly a beast of a gun. With an incredible rate of fire, light weight allowing for great running speed, and more than enough base damage, the PW7A2 can and will take down any opponent quickly and with relative ease.

It's an SMG, so it's primarily tied to the Engineer class, and rivaled only by the PW5A3, i.e., the MP5.

PW5A3

The MP5 in Battlefield 6.
But the MP5 is its icon. Screenshot by Destructoid

Speaking of which, the PW5A3 is, from my perspective, equal to the PW7A2 both in versatility, mobility, and overall effectiveness. It's available quite early in your Engineering adventures, so you'll have it fully kitted out and upgraded by the time the base PW7A2 becomes available. This gives it somewhat of an advantage as the grind can start right away, with the upgraded PW5A3 being in no way worse than the PW7A2, as it too has a blazingly fast ROF.

L110

The L110 light machine-gun in Battlefield 6.
The many L110 presets are fantastic choices overall. Screenshot by Destructoid

LMGs need to get an honorable mention here, as I didn't want to close the list off without picking at least one. And what better option than the one available to you as soon as you fire up the game? The L110 holds almost the top spot in terms of rate of fire, and its raw power and penetration are more than enough to satisfy any Support out there.

With this gun and its immense 100-round mag (upgradable to 200, believe it or not), you'll be able to pressure down opponents for quite a while, racking up tons of those juicy suppression assists along the way. Additionally, you'll be able to break most barriers and smaller walls, opening up sneaky enemies that might have been hiding behind them. It's an overall great weapon and there from the start, but LMGs in general are all good, so it's a matter of preference at the end of the day.

Shiny Mareep is shown on a rooftop

One of the fan-favorite elements of the Pokémon franchise is the elusive Shiny Pokémon, a rare occurrence where a Pokémon takes on a different color scheme. Often, the chance of encountering one is around 1/4000, so Trainers everywhere are always looking for the best ways to find them.

Thankfully, Shiny Pokémon return in Pokémon Legends Z-A, and there are already a couple of ways to increase your chances of finding a sparkling little sidekick in the wild. It should be noted, however, that this is a preliminary guide, and details and methods might change as we get more time with the game after release. So, here are the best Shiny Hunting methods in Pokémon Legends Z-A so far.

How to find Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Legends Z-A

A menu in Pokémon Legends Z-A shows Wild Area 3 in Rouge Plaza
Screenshot by Destructoid

In Pokémon Legends Z-A, Shiny Pokémon can just be encountered while wandering anywhere in the world where Pokémon spawn.

The standard rate for Shiny Pokémon is just over 1/4000, though this is not yet confirmed to be the same rate in Pokémon Legends Z-A. However, entering open areas can spawn up to ten Pokémon at once, or more. Right now, one of the best methods is just to enter, exit, and re-enter any area containing a Pokémon you hope to Shiny hunt.

A Trainer explores a rooftop in Pokémon Legends Z-A while an Alpha Fletchling flies nearby
Screenshot by Destructoid

One area in particular where this works very well is the rooftop found within Rouge Park's Wild Zone. If you climb up to the rooftop, from there, you can hold down on the D-Pad to quickly move between the rooftop and the ground, constantly respawning Pokémon until a Shiny appears.

What this does is reset the spawns in the area, but if a Shiny Pokémon spawns, it won't despawn until you either defeat it or watch it flee. So it'll sit there and wait for you, no matter how far along in the game you go. Such is the power of autosaving.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZHI7649im0

You can also use the same method to reload areas by fast traveling to them to get Shiny Pokémon to spawn and do it multiple times until one eventually pops up.

Can you lose Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Legends Z-A?

Shiny Mareep is shown on a rooftop
Screenshot by Destructoid

Importantly, in Pokémon Legends Z-A, Shiny Pokémon stay in the area they spawn until you encounter them, even if you leave that area and return. This means the only way to lose a Shiny Pokémon is to encounter it and fail to catch it.

While there is no way to disable Auto-Save in ZA, as the game always keeps Shiny Pokémon where they spawn, you can use the above method to quickly move between areas, and you can eventually have multiple Shiny Pokémon waiting for you. It might take some time, but it is possible.

Does Pokémon Legends Z-A have the Shiny jingle from Legends Arceus?

Yes, if a Shiny Pokémon appears in Pokémon Legends Z-A, an accompanying jingle also plays just like in Legends: Arceus, the Pokémon has visible sparkles surrounding it just like in Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee, and when you select it, the Shiny icon will appear next to its name.

How to get the Shiny Charm in Pokémon Legends Z-A

The Shiny Charm returns in Pokémon Legends Z-A, though this time it's not a case of just completing the Pokédex. To get the Shiny Charm in Legends ZA, you must complete Mable's Pokédex requests all the way up to Level 50. This increases the Shiny rate and also rolls the Shiny chance twice, bringing the odds down from 1 in 4096 to 1 in 1024. Thanks to Serebii for the information.

A duck from Escape from Duckov and makeshift ducks behind it.

This year has truly been one of indies. We've had countless remarkable games produced by independent studios, usually consisting of small teams or even single developers.

A lot of these games, in true indie fashion, are weird, quirky, and innovative, providing new perspectives and experiences, or turning established genres into something refreshing. Escape from Duckov is part of this last group, taking the extraction shooter genre, and giving it a recognizable Team Soda spin, turning it into a cartoonish but nonetheless fun experience, which is as strange as it can be.

There's a lot to find in this game, but I can't say it isn't without its faults.

A fresh approach to an existing genre

co

Escape from Duckov, as its name suggests, is a game heavily inspired by Escape from Tarkov and other extraction shooters, with that loot-extract-loot again loop at its core. However, though many extraction shooters are largely militaristic, gritty, and realistic, Duckov takes a more lighthearted approach, placing you in a world of humanoid ducks who fight for valuable tech and resources.

You take control of a custom-made duck character, and are tasked with looting and extracting from the game's maps, bringing those resources and valuables back to your base, where you'll spend them and build from the ground up. Dying out in the wild means losing all your loot, though it can be recovered by looting your own corpse in a subsequent run.

Its combat and gameplay are from a top-down, somewhat isometric perspective, with your vision limited to a cone in front of you. This means enemies can still flank you and come from behind, and you won't see them despite the aerial view. The shooting is meaty, responsive, and oddly satisfying, with many first-person shooters today having way less feedback than this meme-infused game.

You also have to be mindful of wounds, energy levels, and hydration, though these extra survival elements don't matter all too much given how easily they're remedied by overabundant healing, food, and drinks. It does add an extra layer and depth to the game, so that's fine.

Duckov gives you a bunch of quests to do in each of the game's maps, usually meant to give you a better sense of progression and a fun way to unlock various new techs and buildable structures. It also adds a general goal to each of your runs, making every venture out into the world meaningful and planned, rather than just a random gathering of resources.

The game starts with a smaller map where you'll spend your first few hours gathering the tools needed to upgrade yourself to a respectable level, enabling you to use better guns and defenses. The bigger, more expansive map costs in-game money to reach and is way more challenging and treacherous, almost as difficult as it is large. Dying in that map means you'll have to pay the ferryman again, making each defeat on it a costly venture.

The maps are also quite dynamic, with enemies engaging each other, wild animals attacking the player and NPCs, fishing mechanics, and obstacles that can be permanently cleared, opening up new ways to traverse from and to the bunker.

Duckov is that it's a single-player game. Extraction shooters are, by and large, multiplayer experiences, or at least co-op, and Duckov's decision to keep it personal works to some degree, but will cause tedium quickly.

Grind, grind, grind

Loot screen in Escape from Duckov.
Grinding for loot is fun, but repeating the same route over and over is quite tedious. Screenshot by Destructoid

And that brings me to the biggest point of contention with this game: it gets boring very fast. Without a multiplayer component, the constant back-and-forth ventures into the overworld quickly outstay their welcome.

Looting is fun, and so is the combat, but I just didn't find it interesting after the few dozen extractions. Searching for an obscure item needed for a quest and not finding it after spending hours out in the map is just not fun, and it did take its toll eventually.

Access to the larger map is so costly that it takes a while to earn back the money to venture into it again, and given how dangerous the enemies on it are, you'll probably be grinding away for hours on end on the smaller map just to be able to go in and reclaim your lost loot.

What's more, dynamic events can make the game even more challenging, with periodic storms and elite robot squads emerging at night, forcing you to extract or skip time in the game. It's not that big of a deal to wait something out, but it does add a layer of tedium to the experience, itself already a grind-fest.

If there were less grind in this game, the base management and extraction vibes would be off the charts. As it is, though, I can't say it was all too fun after a while, which is a shame considering the many qualities the game has.

Duckov has mod support out of the box, so I can see the community patching up any issue with the game, which is, of course, no excuse for the base experience.

It's different, it's strange, and outright weird. I don't even know who the audience for this game is supposed to be. But, at the end of the day, it's an indie innovation, which I welcome with open arms, and hope to see Team Soda do more with its unique style.

Wearing RGB twitch drops by RGB computer in disney dreamlight valley

Twitch Drops are a nice way to obtain some special items you otherwise can't find around your village in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This process can be a bit tricky to get used to, though, so you may need some help figuring out how to get them.

All rewards featured in Twitch Drop campaigns for DDV aren't available at Scrooge McDuck's shop or otherwise obtainable around the valley, so grabbing them while you can is crucial if you're interested in these items. If you're struggling to work through this process, here are all Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitch Drops and how to get them.

How to unlock Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitch Drops

DDV link accounts twitch drops page

You can get DDV Twitch Drops by linking your Twitch and DDV accounts and watching certain streamers for the specified amount of time for each reward. The setup process can be a bit tricky if you're unfamiliar with it, so here's a full breakdown of how to start earning your drops.

  • Visit the official DDV Twitch Drops page.
  • Click the "Log in" button to sign in to your Twitch account on this page.
  • Click the "Log in" button to sign in to your DDV account on this page.
  • Head over to Twitch and tune into any participating creators' stream.

While most Twitch Drops can be unlocked by watching any streamer in the right category, these ones are only available by tuning into certain streamers. This makes them a lot tougher to unlock, as your options are quite limited.

All Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitch Drop creators

For the active Twitch Drop campaign, there are only seven creators you can watch to unlock rewards. All of the officially partnered creators are as follows.

  • Consolecaito
  • DrGluon
  • HylianDescent
  • LittleBigWhale
  • Simfinity_nina
  • Teegstah
  • Ultia

The official DDV Twitch Drops page highlights which creators are live, so it's a great spot to check when you're trying to get started on earning these items. Since the number of creators is limited, it's best to start watching as early as possible, as you've only got a few days to earn all items.

All active Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitch Drops

From Oct. 15 to 19, there are four Twitch Drops you can claim in DDV.

  • Gamer Baseball Cap – Watch for 15 minutes.
  • Dreamlight Gaming Chair – Watch for 30 minutes.
  • Gamer Basketball Sneakers – Watch for 45 minutes.
  • Dreamlight Valley's Savior Jacket – Watch for 60 minutes.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Twitch Drops not working

If your Twitch Drops aren't working, start by trying to log out and back into Twitch. If this doesn't fix it, head back to the official DDV Twitch Drops page and unlink your accounts. Then, relink them and check again. Drops weren't working for me at all until I redid the connection process entirely.

After this, the progress bar finally moved on Twitch, so this fix should hopefully work for you, too. It also sometimes seems to stop for a while, then suddenly have a big jump to catch up, as I went from being stuck at around 20 percent to suddenly having 50 percent, so give it a bit of patience, too.

Additional drops will likely arrive in the future, so as they do, we'll update all key details here. If you're unsure what to do next after you're done claiming these items, you might want to review the 2026 DDV roadmap, learn all Wishblossom Ranch characters, solve the Haunted Well puzzle, and tackle all Trick-or-Treat event duties.

Teasers for upcoming updates including the player with a dog by a dinner table, a player dressed as meg from hercules, and a player petting a raccoon in a forest in disney dreamlight valley

There are already over 50 characters who call the valley home in Disney Dreamlight Valley, with more arriving consistently every month or so. The village is already quite vast, but DDV sees new updates fairly frequently, with plenty more planned to arrive in 2026.

Knowing who is on their way can be helpful if you're looking to set up a spot for them to live ahead of time. It's also nice to know what there is to look forward to, so you can see whether your favorite characters are arriving in the village anytime soon. If you're eager to learn about what's coming next, here's the roadmap for all planned Disney Dreamlight Valley updates in 2026 so far.

All planned Disney Dreamlight Valley updates for 2026

There are three confirmed DDV updates for the first half of 2026 so far. We'll get more details about them as they draw closer to release, and a fresh roadmap will be launched once we're mostly through everything this one entails. Here's a full breakdown of everything we know about the updates arriving in 2026.

Early 2026 Lady and the Tramp update in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The first big DDV update of 2026 is themed around Lady and the Tramp. The teaser for it says, "Bond over spaghetti and meatballs" alongside a picture of the Lady and the Tramp table we currently have in the valley.

In the 2025 showcase stream, the devs said we'll get to meet a "lovable canine couple with a craving for spaghetti and meatballs" in this update, so it sounds like we're getting both Lady and the Tramp in this one. This update is arriving early on in the year, likely in January or February.

Spring 2026 Pocahontas update in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The second planned update for 2026 is Pocahontas themed. The teaser for this one says, "Discover the beauty of nature alongside a free-spirited adventurer." Pocahontas's signature necklace is sitting on the ground next to a raccoon and some swirling leaves, highlighting that she's the star of this update.

She's the only confirmed character, and there aren't many others from her film who feel like a good fit for the valley, so it's likely we'll only see her in this update. We might also see a new Realm in this update.

With Pocahontas's arrival in 2026, we'll officially have all the Disney princesses except for Raya. This update is debuting sometime in Spring 2026, likely March or April, depending on when the first update arrives.

Summer 2026 Hercules update in Disney Dreamlight Valley

We've already got Hades in the valley with The Storybook Vale DLC, but the world of Hercules is expanding with the Summer 2026 update. This update is certain to include the titular protagonist himself and likely at least one other character.

The teaser for this one says we'll "embark on a mythological adventure," which likely means that it comes with a new Realm to explore. The image featured here is a statue of Phil the satyr next to Hercules' signature sandals. In the 2025 showcase stream, the devs also mentioned stepping "into a world of myths" to "discover real courage, strength, and perseverance."

We usually get a maximum of two new characters in updates, so it's likely we'll see either Megara or Phil join the valley as the second update character. Meg is a bit more of a main character, so I suspect she'll be the one to arrive with Hercules, but it's not confirmed yet.

All upcoming characters in Disney Dreamlight Valley

As of the time of writing, there are at least nine confirmed characters arriving in the valley throughout the end of 2025 and into 2026. None of the villagers for 2026 has been officially confirmed, but the clues we've gotten can only point to a few individuals, so we do at least have a general idea of what to expect. As any further details emerge teasing who is arriving next, we'll add them here.

  • November 2025 – Tigger, Snow White, Tinker Bell, and Cruella (Wishblossom Ranch DLC)
  • December 2025 – Cinderella
  • Early 2026 – Lady and the Tramp
  • Spring 2026 – Pocahontas
  • Summer 2026 – Likely Hercules and Meg, but possibly Phil too or instead of Meg

Before we get to the 2026 updates, there's still lots of content to look forward to for the rest of 2025. First up, there's the release of Wishblossom Ranch in November, a DLC packed with new characters to meet, horses to befriend, areas to explore, and much more. Then, in December, Cinderella arrives with the free The Winter Ball update.

The Blue Canari Plush in Pokémon Legends ZA

Using the many Colorful Screws you get in Pokémon Legends ZA is a challenge in itself. Not only does the game not give you any hint of where to take these items, but the place where you can trade them is easy to miss.

Trading these items is worth the hassle, though. You can use the Colorful Screws to buy Canari Plush, which gives you extra catch rate, experience, and other bonuses depending on the color you pick. Once you buy a Canary Plush, its bonus is automatically active.

Here's where to trade your Colorful Screws for Canari Plush in ZA.

You can trade Colorful Screws in front of Racine Construction, southeast of Lumiose City and east of Wild Zone 17, by talking to the construction worker with a yellow scarf in front of a large closed gate. When you approach him, you'll see him saying, "Trade your Colorful Screws for Canari Plush here."

There are five types of Canari Plush in ZA that you can buy with screws. You can upgrade each of them up to level three, and the higher the level, the more screws you need to spend. You have to hand over 16 Colorful Screws to buy and upgrade a single Canari Plush to level 3, and a total of 80 screws to max out every plush.

Hawlucha standing in its Pokédex entry in Legends ZA

Capturing Hawlucha in Pokémon Legends ZA is complicated. The Pokémon is a rare spawn that will force you to go to a specific area south of Lumiose and look for it over and over, until it pops up. Its Pokédex entry says it lives in high places, so it's a hint that you have to look for it on rooftops.

Here's where you can find Hawlucha in ZA, if you're lucky.

Hawlucha location in Pokémon Legends ZA

You can look for Hawlucha and find it on top of Lumiose's buildings. You can climb the one south of the map, where we spotted one, by taking a Hololift you unlock in Side Quest 23. Even though we found Hawlucha at night, its Pokédex entry doesn't specify it's a night Pokémon, so you might still find it during the day. The one we found was Lv. 28.

There's no trick to make Hawlucha spawn more often. Leave the area and enter it again if you don't see it at first, which should force all nearby Pokémon to spawn again and give you another chance of spotting one.

While Hawlucha can theoretically be spotted on the top of any building in Lumiose, we've found its spawn to be more consistent on a building north of Wild Zone 1. If you can't access that area yet but really want to give a shot at finding Hawlucha anyway, try spotting it on other rooftops since this area isn't an exclusive spawn spot.

If you haven't completed that side quest but have the Roto-Float from Mission 18, you can float between rooftops to look for Hawlucha more efficiently as well. Spotting it is a game of chance and patience, so be prepared to enter and exit these spawn areas a lot.

With a Hawlucha in your party, you can use the Hawluchanite you get from the story to transform it into the mighty Mega Hawlucha.

Totodile with the player characters in Legends Z-A

Trading online in Pokémon Legends: ZA requires you to enter a Link Code in the Link Play menu that's the same as the one someone else is using at that time. If you don't have a friend to talk with and agree on a trade code, you can still find other players to exchange Pokémon with using a universal one, especially for 'mon that evolve by trading.

For ZA, here's a list of universal trade codes you can use to try and find people to evolve your Pokémon with, or maybe to just unlock that Pokémon's entry in your Pokédex with a touch trade.

Link Trade menu in Pokémon Legends: ZA
The trade options in ZA. Screenshot by Destructoid.

Here are Destructoid's Legends ZA trade codes you can use for trade evolutions.

Pokémon you offer Trade Code Pokémon you should get Held Item
Kadabra 0063-0063 Kadabra -
Haunter 0066-0066 Haunter -
Spritzee 0096-0096 Spritzee Sachet
Swirlix 0098-0098 Swirlix Whipped Dream
Machoke 0126-0126 Machoke -
Slowbro 0139-0139 Slowbro King's Rock
Scyther 0176-0176 Scyther Metal Coat
Phantump 0182-0182 Phantump -
Onix 0197-0197 Onix Metal Coat
Pumpkaboo 0204-0204 Pumpkaboo -

For all the trade codes above to work, you should offer the right Pokémon when pairing with another trainer. The idea is that once you offer your Pokémon that evolves via trade, you will not get them back and will, instead, get that same Pokémon from someone else, which will transform when the trade is done.

For example:

  • John pairs with Anne using the Link Code 0176-0176.
  • John offers Scyther holding a Metal Coat, and Anne does the same. Both parties agree on the trade.
  • Anne's Scyther evolves into Scizor when John receives it. John keeps Anne's Scizor.
  • The same goes for Anna, who now sees John's Scyther evolve into Scizor and keeps it.

If you want to evolve your Pokémon using trade codes and get it back, avoid these universal codes. Find someone you trust to trade with and use a unique code instead, so you can pair for a return trade after the Pokémon evolves.

When trading Pokémon that evolve using a held item, remember to check the offered Pokémon to ensure they are holding the right item. You can usually do that before you accept the trade via the Summary option. Cancel the trade if the item isn't there.

These codes will only work if enough people are using them at the same time. If you enter the code and find no partners, try again in a few minutes because there might not be enough people using that code yet.

Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile in Lumiose City

If you have been confused and wondering where you can get some Mints in Pokémon Legends Z-A, this guide will help you with your troubles.

While the game does a decent job at highlighting the source for most resources, that's not the case for Mints. They're available from vendors in ZA, but their location isn't marked on the map. Here's how you can find them.

Pokémon Legends Z-A Mints vendor locations

If you're just getting started in Pokémon Legends Z-A, you don't need to bother much about finding Mints. These are more advanced items that you'll need later. If you're at that stage and wondering how to acquire the item, read on.

Mints are sold in Legends Z-A by a couple of vendors, and they can be found at the same location. To reach the correct spot, take the main route that goes northwest from the center of your map. Take the second right turn, and then go straight.

Take the next right turn to enter a narrow alley, where you'll find several vendors. A couple of them will offer you different Mints. However, these are pretty expensive, and some of them need a lot of Pokecoins. Hence, only buy them if you really have a need.

Mints Vendor in Legends ZA

The location is also close to the Wild Zone 3 spot, but blocked by a building. If you're looking to catch Pokémon in that spot, you'll have to travel back a fair bit and catch the path that leads you to the zone. You can find other vendors selling important items like Berries at the location where you can buy Mints.

Mints are required if you're looking to change the nature of any Pokémon. In my experience, they won't be extremely important unless you want to min-max and build the perfect member for your Ranked Battles. Season 1 for Ranked is now live and offers plenty of rewards to aid your in-game grind.

Canari in Legends ZA

Pokémon Legends Z-A isn't all about battling trainers with your party, as you'll have to crack Canari's Quiz Whiz Contest before getting a chance to fight her.

The quiz is pretty simple, and the task lasts across three rounds. You'll come across specific questions revolving around Canari and what interests her. If Naveen's help doesn't prove to be enough, this guide will help you ace the quiz without any problems.

How to begin the Canari Quiz Whiz Contest in Pokémon Legends Z-A

To begin your quest, head to the Electrical Substation and find Naveen. He will tell you about Canari and her quiz questions. Enter the Electrical Substation, and the password to this is "Let's go, DYN4MO!". The first round of the quiz involves three questions.

How to solve Canari Quiz Whiz Contest in Pokémon Legends Z-A

Each of the questions has two options: True or False. If you believe the answer to a question is true, stand in the green square. If you believe the correct answer is false, stand in the red square.

Here are the three questions along with their correct answers.

  • True or false? I'm crazy good at falling-block puzzle games.

    • True

  • True or false? Macarons are my favourite food.

    • False

  • True or false? Electric-type Pokémon are my fave!

    • True

The next task is to find Eelektross' favorite dessert and bring it to Canari. For this, you'll need the Super Lumiose Galette, which can be obtained from Cafe Gallant. You'll have to get the item back to Canari at the Electrical Substation. However, you'll have to battle Mani of DYN4MO before completing the quest.

Mani has three Pokémon, and all of them are of the Electric type. To defeat him easily, use any Ground-type since they have the highest effectiveness among all types.

The next part involves another set of questions. Thankfully, Naveen will give you the answer for the quest, which is "Your Grandpa". When you provide the correct answer, Canai will agree to battle you at Racine Construction.
