Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Sunday, October 19, 2025 6:00 AM ![]() Sundays are for landing on a mysterious planet. At first, the surface seems barren, a dusty sheet of paper stretching towards the grey horizon. Does anything live here? Could anything live here? Is there anything here which can inform how I'm supposed to feel about it all? The emptiness is a feeling, but one can only deploy the world bleak so many times before starting to read it as ble-ack just to try and avoid dying of boredom. Then, the ground around you opens up. A great dark space into which you slide. Everything goes cold, dark, and wet. Suddenly, you're back among the stars in a flurry of movement. Adrian Edmondson's planet-sized head stares at you, licking its lips to get rid of leftover spittle. Well, there's two of you in the bleakness now. |

Legends Z-A has three Legendary Pokémon in the form of Zygarde, Xerneas, and Yveltal, and adding all three to your collection is going to take a significant amount of time.
Zygarde, incidentally, will appear during the main campaign, unlike Xerneas and Yveltal. However, you'll need to complete the main story, and then your pursuit for the Legendaries begins.

How to catch Xerneas in Pokémon Legends Z-A
Once you beat the campaign, you will wake up in the hotel and learn about Infinite Royale. Your first battle will be against Zach (your first Battle Royale fight). Once you defeat him, return to the HHotel, and you'll get to encounter The One That Gives and The One That Takes quests.
The One That Gives
The first part of the task involves defeating three Alphas that appear in the wild. Go to the Pokémon Research Center and speak with Mable, who will inform you about what needs to be done.
![]()
After defeating all three Alphas, head to Wild Zone 11. You'll find a marker on the other side of the river, and you'll find a Level 75 Xerneas at the location. Use Poison and Steel types to have a natural advantage. If you fail to catch Xerneas, you'll need to begin the encounter from the start.

How to catch Yveltal in Pokémon Legends Z-A
The second main quest involving a Legendary Pokémon is The One That Takes, where you'll meet Grisham and Griselle. Go with them to Quasartico Inc. and speak with Vinnie. You'll have to fight the Mega Evolved forms of Victreebell, Hawlucha, and Tyranitar.
The One That Takes
The three Mega Evolutions you face are pretty strong, and you won't have any allies. If you can't dodge well, you can blackout after taking multiple hits. This will force you to restart the battle from the start. Once you clear all three Megas, you'll encounter Yveltal on the rooftop of Galerie de la Lune in the northern part of Lumiose City.
![]()
Being a Dark/Flying type, Yveltal is susceptible to Electric and Ice. You can also use Fairy-types that typically will do well against it. Like Xerneas, make sure to catch Yveltal to avoid starting the quest from the beginning and fighting it again.
How to catch Zygarde in Pokémon Legends Z-A
Once you have caught both Xerneas and Yveltal, return to Hotel Z. Lysandre will approach you, whom you'll have to beat. Here's his Pokémon squad in order of their appearance.
Once you defeat Lysandre, head over to Wild Zone 20 (right in the center of Lumiose City). Zygarde will spawn over there, and this is one of the hardest battles you can encounter.
![]()
First, defeat Zygarde when it is in its Dog form and at 10% power. Next, defeat it in its Serpent form when it is at 50% power. Finally, defeat Zygarde in its Robot form, when it's at full power. If you take a hit from its move, you'll black out. This will force the battle to begin from the start.
Once you defeat Zygarde, you'll also get the Zygardite stone. This stone allows you to Mega Evolve Zygarde during the course of a battle. You can also use the Zygarde Cube (given to you by Lysandre) to switch between the Dog and Serpent form.

The Galarica Cuff and the Galarica Wreath are two key evolution items in Pokémon Legends Z-A if you're aiming to power up your party fast.
Both of these evolution items are available from Side Missions, and will take you a fair bit of time to unlock. Once done, you can then use these items to apply in evolutions, and this guide will help you to obtain and use them both in Legends ZA.

How to obtain the Galarica Cuff in Pokémon Legends ZA
The Galarica Cuff can be obtained from Side Mission 75. Titled Some Unusual Pokémon, this quest involves you battling Touri at Vert Sector 9's battlefield. Touri will ask if you want to battle her, and she has some unusual Pokémon to show.
Touri will be using Slowbro and Slowking, but with a twist. Both her Pokémon are of the Galarian forms. Once you manage to defeat both her Pokémon, you can then win the Galarica Cuff.

How to obtain Galarica Wreath in Pokémon Legends ZA
The Galarica Wreath is obtained in the same fashion as the Galarica Cuff. Battle it out with Touri and defeat her Pokémon to collect your reward.
How to use the Galarica Cuff and Galarica Wreath in Pokémon Legends Z-A
Both the Galarica Cuff and Galarica Wreath are used similarly.
Ultimately, both Galarian Slowbro and Galarian Slowking are pretty strong choices, and there's no wrong choice. If you want to get the evolution done quickly, make sure to add Soothe Bell to your Galarian Slowpoke.

Goomy is one of the rarer Pokémon to catch in Legends Z-A, and knowing how to catch it will be beneficial if you're looking to complete your Pokedex.
While most Pokémon have specific spawn locations, aka Wild Zones, Goomy appears to be a roaming one. However, it has a particular area, and this guide will help you catch and evolve Goomy in Legends ZA.
Table of contents
How to catch Goomy in Pokémon Legends Z-A
To obtain Goomy, you'll have to reach the sewers in Lumiose City. For doing so, you'll have to wait until clearing Side Mission 57 (The Camerupt Entrepreneur). This task is also the easiest way of finding Goomy, although you'll have to stop following the objective. Instead, go to the room on the extreme left, and you should be able to find a Goomy over there.
Alternatively, you can also find Goomy near the Pokémon Center at Bleu Sector 5, near the cafe at that spot. Just be in the marked position on the screenshot below, and go straight. You can find a Goomy spawning over there.
![]()
Come back, and then take a turn left (from where Bleu Sector 5 is written on the map). Head straight, and melt the ice that you'll find there. You'll then come across a Goomy, and possibly, a Sliggoo. Remember that Goomy can only spawn when it's raining.
How to evolve Goomy to Goodra in Pokémon Legends Z-A
Once you have found Goomy, you'll have to raise its Friendship Level. Goomy will first evolve into Sliggoo, which will then evolve into Goodra. The process of evolving Sliggoo to Goodra is the same as evolving Goomy to it.
When you're evolving Goomy, you'll need to wait for Rainy weather. You can't evolve and get Goodra if the weather is clear. The weather of Lumiose City changes randomly, so always be on the lookout for when the rains arrive. If you want to quicken up the rate at which your Friendship Level rises with Goomy, try to equip it with the Soothe Bell.
