Co-operative starship mishap sim Jump Space just received the first major update of its early access phase, bringing both functional capitalism and a surprisingly enjoyable trio of melee weapons. The former takes the shape of newly opened item shops at your home base, giving you a chance to stock up on guns, repair kits, or artifact buffs before shipping out on a mission. And, having thwacked a few bots with the latter, I'm liking how worthy they are of a precious weapon slot, even in a game previously set up entirely for gunplay.

Is it bad that I find the office labyrinth of Pager rather cosy? Is it a sign that I have finally gone full 9-to-5 zombie? Or have I simply been mugged on Memory Lane by a composite of 90s aesthetics and technologies - pebbly Macintosh wallpaper patterns, mock-Bauhaus prints and yes, pagers, though I never owned one of those as a kid.

I even like the background whine of the omnipresent CCTV cameras, which grows abruptly piercing as I walk beneath them. These are very much the wrong emotions for anything that bills itself as influenced by Kafka. If I have accidentally invented the cosy Kafka genre, I am sorry.

Walmart Shares Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sales 2025 Dates

Walmart set the schedule for its 2025 Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. Like Best Buy, its events will start ahead of Thanksgiving and the typical sale periods. This year there will be three events, and they will kick off on November 14, 2025. As expected, the Cyber Monday one will be limited to the official site.

The Black Friday sales at Walmart will be split into two parts, with the first happening November 14-16, 2025, and the second starting ahead of Thanksgiving and running between November 25-30, 2025. The first sales period will be in-store and online. Walmart+ members will get early access online-only at 4pm PT/7pm ET on November 13, 2025. The second half starts as an online-only promotion between November 25-27, 2025, before then becoming in-store and online between November 28-30, 2025. This is due to Walmart itself being closed on Thanksgiving day this year. Again, Walmart+ folks can access the sales earlier via the official website. Their access will start at 4pm PT/7pm ET on November 24, 2025.

As for Walmart Cyber Monday sale, that will only happen on December 1, 2025 for all potential shoppers. It will also only appear on the official online storefront. Walmart+ members will get early access again, and that will start at 4pm PT/7pm ET on November 30, 2025.

The official announcement did include a few teasers for some of the sale items. However, those were limited. It only applied to items that will be part of the November 14-16, 2025 sale. No video games were mentioned too. The only electronic item that showed up in the early announcement list was a $998 98" TCL QLED 4K Google TV. (That normally costs $1,798.)

The first Walmart Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale event starts on November 14-16, 2025, though Walmart+ members get access at 4pm PT/7pm ET on November 13, 2025.

Next Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 DLC Is Kaigaku

The next piece of Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 DLC debuts this week, and it is Kaigaku from the Infinity Castle arc of the manga and anime movie adaptation. The add-on will launch on October 30, 2025, and there's already a teaser trailer for him.

The whole video showing off Kaigaku is about 50 seconds long, and the first 14 are focused on teaser images. From there, we see him fighting against Zenitsu Agatsuma. As the character is known for Thunder Breathing and his speed, we can see that reflected in some of his initial attacks. It also seems like we might see him perform his Sixth Form: Rumble and Flash attack in that footage, which is one of his signature attacks.

Here's how the Kaigaku DLC looks in Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBL0p2OiRXs

Prior to Kaigaku, we saw a free addition to Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2. CyberConnect 2 added Muzan Kibutsuji. Everyone gets access to him, provided they picked up the update. He's available to use in VS Mode now. Other add-ons will include Akaza, Doma, and alts of Tanjiro, Giyu Tomioka, Shinobu Kocho, and Zenitsu.

Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and Kaigaku joins the roster on October 30, 2025.

Mister Donut Pokemon new collab in November 2025 to feature Foongus besides Pikachu

Mister Donut has revealed the new Pokemon collaboration doughnut designs that it will launch in November 2025. The fifth-generation mushroom Pokemon Foongus will be the featured creature besides the franchise mascot Pikachu in this new batch.

The chain had previously teased the new collaboration in late August 2025, as it confirmed it would hold the crossover for the eighth time. Mister Donut has since announced the exact launch date for the new crossover, which will be available on November 5, 2025.

The new batch's catchphrase "Tamageta!" (I'm flabbergasted!) is derived from Foongus' Japanese name Tamagetake, which is a combination of the phrase with Take (Mushroom). The same catchphrase will also apply to the additional doughnuts inspired by Mimikyu and Voltorb.

Here is the full lineup, along with their prices in Japanese yen:

  • Fluffy Pikachu doughnut - ¥334 takeaway / ¥341 dine-in
  • Crunchy Pikachu tail doughnut - ¥259 takeaway / ¥264 dine-in
  • Flabbergasted Foongus doughnut - ¥334 takeaway / ¥341 dine-in
  • Flabbergasted Mimikyu chocolate doughnut - ¥226 takeaway / ¥231 dine-in
  • Flabbergasted Voltorb vanilla doughnut - ¥226 takeaway / ¥231 dine-in

Mister Donut also published an additional webpage where it reveals merchandise sets that will be available simultaneously:

  • Goods Set (¥2,100 takeaway / ¥2,114 dine-in) - Two of the above Pokemon doughnuts, a Chocolate or Strawberry Pon de Lis donut, a Blanket with the Pikachu-Mimikyu or Foongus-Voltorb design, and a paper bag
  • Children Goods Set (¥1,100 takeaway / ¥1,109 dine-in) - One of the above Pokemon doughnuts, a Chocolate or Strawberry Pon de Lis donut, a large strong drinking glass, and a paper bag

The new Pokemon collaboration doughnuts will be available at Mister Donut outlets across Japan from Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

Undusted: Letters from the Past is a PowerWash Simulator like game that combines cleaning up items with stories about why they matter.

Undusted: Letters from the Past is the sort of game that feels like a smaller and more contained take on the PowerWash Simulator series. We're still cleaning things up, hoping to get every possible part looking fresh and tidy. We're attempting to fill up a gauge and ensure we're not missing everything. However, 5minlab's title is offers more insight into each object we scrub, while also presenting us with tasks that probably will only take us 5-15 minutes to complete.

Adora's returned to her childhood home with a task. Following her mom Lily's passing, her aunt asked for a missing necklace back that might be somewhere in the home. It's in the attic. However, Adora hasn't been back there in years. After clearing rust off the house key to even get back inside, she heads to her former home. However, it won't be as easy as just finding the missing jewelry. So she cleans up other memorable and notable items, remembering her past with her parents as she does.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cM9Qrs3i8Lw

Like PowerWash Simulator, Undusted: Letters from the Past focuses on using an array of tools to clean about 99% of dirt off of specific items in order to progress. In this case, commentary comes up as you clean, and you learn more about memories tied to each object as you restore them. You start with a toothbrush, which is used on the key to get rust off. However, eventually you also get a  sponge that can cover wider areas, a vacuum more efficient for dust and certain types of materials, and a rag that's good at polishing. There is the same sort of hint system as similar titles, where you can press a button to enter something of a "dark mode" where only the remaining dirt is highlighted, but you need to reach a certain percentage of cleanliness to unlock that.

What I really like about the execution is the care put into realizing different objects. When you clean the turtle-shaped ocarina, rubbing the sponge over the holes will cause it to play notes. When you turn the snowglobe around, you can hear the water inside sloshing around. It's very atmospheric, even though we're in very contained scenarios cleaning certain items. It's really satisfying, in that it feels like it lends weight and realism to the items we're cleaning.

Another thing I really liked about Undusted: Letters from the Past is the sense of ambiance it builds that we don't get in games like PowerWash Simulator. Sure, in some of its scenarios we got insight into the situation or, if it was a crossover add-on, lore. But this is a full look at the family dynamics and life of Adora and her parents. We watch as she gets explanations as to why Lily behaved as she did and who she was as a person beyond "mom." We see what things meant to Adora and how the experiences tied to them shaped her life. It's very personal in a soothing and touching way.

I'm also quite pleased to report that Undusted: Letters from the Past feels incredibly comfortable when played on a Switch. The control scheme doesn't feel limited to mouse controls. The easy swapping between tools with the d-pad is great. It's easy to hold and adjust the position of objects while simultaneously scrubbing them. It's convenient, and I never once felt like I needed a mouse instead.

However, I also feel like sometimes I enjoyed Undusted: Letters from the Past more than I did games like PowerWash Simulator. It's a shorter experience, to be certain. I could get through most item sessions in five to fifteen minutes. It's easier on the eyes, since I'm not straining to find dirt or get the right perspective to reach that 100% goal. I also felt like it's whimsical in a different way, since we are more directly interacting with the objects and maybe being pleasantly surprised by certain reactions. Some people might find it not as satisfying, since it is shorter for both each session and as a whole, but I liked the pacing a lot.

Undusted: Letters from the Past combines cleaning up interesting and poignant items with stories about why each one matters. It's an incredibly soothing and cozy kind of game, much along the lines of PowerWash Simulator. It's definitely a little more condensed with a more contained focus, which some may or may not appreciate. Still, I loved the pacing, the attention to detail on each small item, and the way we learn about Adora and her family as we restore everything.

Undusted: Letters from the Past is available for the Switch and PC.

The scene of a battle in Battlefield 6

Boy, oh boy, this battlefield sure looks like a warzone.

Battlefield's re-entry into the battle royale genre has officially been confirmed. Battlefield: RedSec is its name, and its Battlefield 6's version of the mode that first began with Firestorm in Battlefield V several years ago. This one has been in testing for months, and it's ready to go as a free-to-play title on PC and console for the gaming masses.

Here's what we know so far about Battlefield: RedSec and when you can download it.

Ahead of season one's launch, EA confirmed that Battlefield: RedSec would be available at 10am CT on Oct. 28 right alongside the new season of BF6. The company did not detail whether or not the mode would be available for pre-load, or if it will be a separate standalone download apart from BF6.

Battlefield: RedSec will likely become available to search on the Steam store, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and EA Play app right around 10am CT on Oct. 28. The countdown below shows how long it is until that time:

[hurrytimer id="1134158"]

For now, it seems as though all there is to do is wait until 10am CT on Oct. 28 for RedSec to become available for download, or for an update to be available for Battlefield 6 that will add it into the game.

Here's the info has been officially revealed about Battlefield RedSec, straight from EA:

  • "The deadliest ring" in BR: The outer circle that closes on the map in Battlefield RedSec will kill players instantly, forcing engagements as it closes and preventing anyone from healing or moving outside of the playable area.
  • Second chances: Between the Support class revives and Mobile Redeploy options, there are multiple tools to keep your squad in the fight.
  • Map: Battlefield is no stranger to epic maps, and this all-new map has been built for the Battle Royale experience. It features a diverse array of tactical Points of Interest, each with distinct layouts and themes that offer unique gameplay opportunities.
  • Vehicles: Players can find common transport vehicles around the map and even unlock powerful armored vehicles to turn the tide of battle. The intent is to offer more ways for players to traverse the map early on in a match and to create interesting combined arms action in the process.
  • Tactical Destruction: Destruction will be everywhere in this mode. From creating pathways through walls to toppling buildings, we look forward to seeing players' ingenuity with destruction and how they use it to defeat their opponents.

Stay tuned for more info about Battlefield RedSec as it becomes available.

Battlefield 6 soldier

Whether you like your shooter games in first-person or third-person, it's a great time to be a gamer. But that often leads to a daunting decision: what do I play with my free time?

The time crunch situation feels dire these days, and it will only get worse in the coming weeks. Tomorrow, Battlefield: RedSec launches as a new battle royale title. Two days later, on Oct. 30, ARC Raiders joins the fray as an extraction shooter. And then just over two weeks after that, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 brings multiplayer and Zombies to the table on Nov. 14.

How the hell does anyone have the time to play all of these games? As a fan of everything, and especially as someone who works in games media, I need to try it all. But there's just not enough time to do it, especially considering they're all time-sinks in different ways.

But what's awesome, though, is that these three massive titles are all different in their own ways and will all be good for a specific mood or player. That's why, to me, it feels like yet another golden age for shooter games is on the way.

Wanna drop in and be the last player standing? Then RedSec is for you. The free-to-play battle royale uses Battlefield 6's weapons and roles, along with a ring circle that kills you upon contact to up the stakes in the genre, building off of player feedback over months of playtesting to offer what may be the next big thing in gaming.

Is BR not your thing, but you still live for the thrill of high risk and high rewards? Then ARC Raiders may be up your alley. The third-person extraction shooter is a stellar PvPvE experience where you can group up with friends or go solo to use proximity chat and find enemies or allies while looting up. But if you die, you lose it all, so measure your movements carefully.

Me? I'm definitely more of a classic multiplayer kind of player. I like to turn off my brain and shoot stuff, and Black Ops 7 is perfect for that, especially with CoD's newly toned-down skill-based matchmaking. Relaxing in a shooter game for me is all about turning on some music, grinding some camo challenges, or even slaying hordes of zombies with a Ray Gun. BO7 offers all of it.

Regardless of what game you gravitate to, they all are battling for your time (and money), and so I will be very interested to see what games dominate the charts for playtime and revenue in the waning days of fall and incoming winter of 2025.

I still don't know what game I'll end up playing the most in the coming weeks, but my situation is unique in that I will go where the work is needed. I'll probably bounce back and forth and try them all each day to see where my heart lies, as well.

But for you, the consumer, which title do you think piques your interest the most? Let us know in the comments below, and get ready for the season of the shooter.

Level 0 shot with hazmat wearer corpse on the floor

We can now safely say that Level The End is far from it in Escape the Backrooms. If you want to get all endings in this co-op adventure, then stock up on Almond Water and get ready for a ton of running. There are endings to achieve, and most don't have a happy conclusion.

Rather surprisingly, the 1.0 update (on Oct. 23, 2025) for Escape the Backrooms full release added a few new monsters, but repeats a fair bit of content we've seen before. 1.0 has new endings and lore that nicely tie into what we've spent hours playing through for every big update.

Escape the Backrooms: Endings guide

There are five endings in Escape the Backrooms. Four of these are brand new, either hidden inside levels you've previously played through in early access or added into content beyond Level 3999.

WRONG DOOR ending

Falling from the sky into the middle of a town
Screenshot by Destructoid

This is the default ending and one we should have all seen before, as it was the only ending available in early access. This is the ending you will get by playing all Backrooms levels available in Story Mode order, and appears in Level 55.1.

There isn't a particular order to get these alternate endings in, as the game kindly brings you to the Bunker that's seemingly out of bounds from any level we've previously visited. It offers direct access to the Hub within the Story Mode via the Bunker elevator, allowing you to jump to any level and hunt for the alternate endings.

Wrong Door sees all our hard work gone as we plummet to the ground. Yes, we've escaped, but the cost is far too dear. The last thing we see is the town below growing nearer and nearer as we fall back down to reality.

EMPTY CITY ending

Looking at the empty city in Level 11
Screenshot by Destructoid

This ending is found in one of the new levels titled Grassrooms. You can enter this secret level by unlocking the M.E.G. door in the Bunker after beating the game at least once. Complete Overgrowth to enter the Grassrooms. All you have to do is finish this level and reach the elevator, taking it down to the 11th floor, where you'll walk out into an empty city, implying you're still in the Backrooms. Liminal space just got a hell of a lot bigger in Level 11.

THE SUBURBS ending

Looking out the window onto Level 94
Screenshot by Destructoid

Return to the Hub and go into Level 1 (Habitable Zone). Head upstairs and find the M.E.G. door, using your ID card to access it. This will take you straight to Level 92233, where you want to climb to floor 94 and jump off, falling to the very bottom to activate The Suburbs ending.

You awake from a hospital bed, peering outside the window in the hopes that you've returned to reality. But the world outside is that of the Level 94. Endless hills, each with a singular yellow house atop, waves of green greet you, and you know that once the sun sets, you'll have to spend every waking minute hiding in terror from the monsters that come out at night.

THE PINK HOUSE ending

Stuck in bed, looking out the bedroom door at an entity slowly approaching
Screenshot by Destructoid

Go to the Hub and back into Level 6 (Lights Out). Use the Lidar machine to beat this level, but don't press onto the next. Instead, use your ID on the M.E.G. door to unlock another pitch black maze. Navigate with the Lidar machine once more, finding the Pink House on the other side. Complete this section by finding 12 teddy bear toys scattered around the map (randomly generated every time).

You're not the first person to end up here. The ending concludes with you as the new resident of the Pink House, where the level's entity watches over you, ensuring you can never leave this place.

FINAL ESCAPE ending

Level 3999 arcade game
Screenshot by Destructoid

The only way to get this ending is to get all four other endings. Then, after waking up for the fourth and final time near the Bucker elevator, press the Level 3999 button inside. This will take you to a secret area of the arcade, where you can approach the mysterious game titled after this level and start playing. Doing so activates this final ending, where Fancy (dev) speaks to us.

This is the best ending in the game as we've actually escaped the Backrooms, getting back to reality unscathed, implying we spent the entire time gaming inside an arcade.

Combat scene in Super Fantasy Kingdom

Super Fantasy Kingdom has a host of different heroes for you to try out, but the crucial question is which one you should unlock first.

When you're just starting, your options will be limited (varies based on Human Kingdom or Undead Kingdom). Then arises the point of prioritizing your unlocks, and this guide will help you understand which heroes you should get first.

Best heroes to unlock early in Super Fantasy Kingdom

The list is heavily based on my preferences and how I play Super Fantasy Kingdom. Your first unlock shouldn't be based on which are the best heroes in the game. Instead, you should aim for getting characters who are fun to play and easy to build.

A kingdom in Super Fantasy Kingdom

  • Alaric is an extremely fun choice as he has decent damage and range. His moves are based around the Bleed status, so you'll have to build accordingly. His only weakness is the lack of defense, but that can be managed with good units. He can also provide heals once built up, and beginners will have no problems learning his kit.
  • Cole: If you like mages but want an alternate to Alaric, invest in Cole. His fireballs can do AoE damage after splashing at enemies. His range is excellent, and he can also one-shot weaker minions. While his synergy with units is limited, he is pretty strong on his own.

As an alternative, I will also recommend Gideon, but only when you're playing as the Undead Kingdom. If you're playing as the Human Kingdom, you'll need to earn 500+ Glory to complete the unlock. Gideon is my favorite all-rounder who can do a bit of everything.

Gideon has decent health, while having nice damage and range on the side. Some of his moves do splash damage that also debuffs enemies, and he fits well with almost any team composition. If you're playing as the Undead Kingdom, Gideon is undoubtedly an excellent choice who is worth the first unlock.

Battlefield 6 vehicles combat

Only one game can survive this battle royale of the battle royale genre itself. Well, not really.

There are many fun BR games out there to play, and EA is set to join the fray with a Battlefield 6 battle royale mode sometime soon. BF6 launched to big player numbers on Oct. 10, 2025, and its free-to-play BR component is not far behind, sure to bring in even more players. But when can we play it?!

Here's what we know about when to expect BF6's battle royale mode to become widely available.

Battlefield 6's battle royale mode is officially launching with season one on Oct. 28 at 10am CT. EA confirmed the news the day before launch.

Here are some details on what's currently being tested in BF6 BR, straight from EA:

  • Squadplay: For this test, each match will feature 100 players, organized into 25 four player squads, fighting to be the last one standing. Communicating with your squad through pings, text, or VOIP aims to boost the experience and enhance their tactical options.
  • Second chances: Between the Support class revives and Mobile Redeploy options, there are multiple tools to keep your squad in the fight.

BF6 BR will also have "the deadliest ring" in the genre, instantly killing players that it comes into contact with, so you'd better haul ass.

"We set out to bring the most dangerous ring in gaming to Battle Royale that instantly kills players upon contact," BF6 devs explained. "With urgent warnings as the fire approaches, soldiers will be pushed into more intense firefights as the game space continues to shrink. There's no jumping in and out of it, no using it for cover, no walking through it - if you get caught in it, you are done. We're excited to see how the ring affects the pace of the game and how it creates spontaneous showdowns."

Battlefield RedSec

After months of playtesting in Battlefield Labs, Battlefield's free-to-play battle royale component is ready for the masses.

Ahead of tomorrow's season one launch in Battlefield 6, EA has announced that the mode, called Battlefield: RedSec, will launch with the new season at 10am CT. Other than some leaked footage of playtests, the mode is largely secretive, so tomorrow will be a new adventure for gamers everywhere.

Info about RedSec (short for Redacted Sector) has been steadily leaking over the past few months, with ModernWarzone spearheading the report that the game would be releasing with season one as a shadow-drop. It's now confirmed, and it's not too late to call in sick to work.

RedSec will feature Battlefield 6 gameplay alongside "the deadliest ring" in BR that will kill players on contact. The mode features its own map along with vehicles, environmental destruction, squad play with role-specific abilities, and more.

Like BF6, RedSec will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It's assumed that it may share some progression and unlockables with the base game, but official details are yet to be announced. Players will not need to own BF6 to play RedSec, though, as the BR mode is a fully free-to-play experience similar to Call of Duty's Warzone.

Buckle up, gamers. A new BR has entered the fray, and it's suddenly less than 24 hours away.

Echo's protagonist being swarmed by clones

With Silent Hill f, Little Nightmares 3, and Bloodlines 2, horror fans got enough to stay entertained and frightened throughout this October. Still, fear of the unknown remains the coolest type of fear, so let's look at some awesome lesser-known horror titles to make this Halloween even better.

Paratopic

A windmill in Paratopic
Screenshot by Destructoid

In Paratatopic, you enter a modern-day town that feels somewhat off, and your mission is to find out what the hell is happening.

Paratopic is as simple-looking and easy to play as its story is cryptic and scary. Anyone who's into horror but not so much into the gameplay mechanics required to avoid or kill hordes of demons should totally try this one out, as it leaves no one behind when it comes to delivering the chills.

If you don't have much time to dedicate to horror games, then Paratopic is a great choice. One playthrough will take no longer than 40 minutes and will leave you scarred deeply touched by the experience.

Fear & Hunger

Image via Miro Haverinen

If there's one genre where the player is likely to fulfill their hero fantasy, that's the RPG genre. But that won't happen in this RPG, as Fear & Hunger's whole schtick seems to be to subvert all of the player's expectations and plunge them into a world of unexpected horror and despair.

Fear & Hunger pulls no punches when it comes to making the player feel lost and powerless, and, by virtue of not belonging in a game genre where you'd normally expect such horrors to inhabit, it earns even more points as a surprising horror gem.

Mouthwashing

Mouthwashing headed to consoles later this year
Screenshot by Destructoid

When you think of space horror, aliens might come to mind. That's not the case here. Knowing that, it is a horror game, so you can bet that the titular Mouthwashing has plenty in store for you. The scariest part, however, is how the true horror here comes from simple human nature at its worst, and Mouthwashing makes a great case for that to be the worst kind of horror one can experience.

It's far from an obscure indie, but it's just so good that more people need to know about it. Once again, this is a title that, aside from two sections, will require absolutely no gameplay reflexes to beat, so the only skill you need to see it through is the will and stomach to beat it.

No I'm not a Human

Looking at amogus guy and little girl in the kitchen
Screenshot by Destructoid

No better way to learn the gist of No I'm not a Human than to think of Among Us, the hit indie multiplayer title, where a group of players has to find the impostors before they murder everyone else. No I'm not a Human ramps things up, and has players managing a refuge home where not one, not two, but everyone can be an impostor on a mission to murder everyone else.

In Among Us, there's the possibility of taking a breather by having fun with the impostor role, but in No I'm not a Human, all players have is the constant fear and dread of wondering whether they're trusting someone, or something, that they shouldn't be.

Echo

En in Echo

Few game thought experiments are scarier than imagining Metal Gear Solid through the POV of a guard. Knowing what you already know, you're well aware that it's only a matter of time until Solid Snake offs you. Echo pulls off a beautifully horrific twist on that idea, as it has the hyper-intelligent and super-capable playable character infiltrate a megastructure, only to realize all guards are like her. This also means that the better you get at the game, the better the guards get. When combined with the spectacularly haunting setting, this easily makes Echo one of the most enthralling lesser-known horror games out there.

Sadly, despite great reviews and player response, ULTRAULTRA, the studio behind Echo, went under due to low sales. Echo will, unfortunately, never give the people behind it the success they deserve, but will hopefully keep on growing in the great gamer subconscious via the echoes of the people who got to experience this amazingly unique title.

A kingdom in Super Fantasy Kingdom

Super Fantasy Kingdom is quickly gathering steam as a new indie launch, and it has its fair share of heroes to obtain.

Every hero inside the game has unique skills, strengths, and weaknesses. Knowing which are better will help you get further on each run. This guide will help you get a brief idea about every hero in Super Fantasy Kingdom and how they fare in the current state of the game.

Complete Super Fantasy Kingdom Heroes tier list

I have used three grades to separate all the heroes present in Super Fantasy Kingdom.

  • S-tier heroes are the best choices you can make.
  • A-tier heroes are strong but have certain limitations.
  • B-tier heroes have niche use-case scenarios, but they can be viable if you understand how they work.

Disclaimer: Thea is yet to be assessed.

S-tier

  • Qhe'la: Just ignore the part that Qhe'la is supposed to be a tank, and you'll be good. She can raise a large number of minions and do massive damage. As long as you don't get swamped by enemies, Qhe'la will be more than good enough. While classified as a tank, she is better used as a support. Watch out for certain bosses due to the random nature of her minions.
  • Selene: Selene in the early game is arguably B-tier at best due to her lack of powerful abilities. Her early game defense is nearly non-existent, and you'll need to help her survive the first day. The longer you spend with her, the better she gets. Once you have built her up, Selene hits hard. Both her damage and crit rates are excellent. Just pair up with some supporting units, and she will help you take down the strongest of bosses.

A-tier

  • Alaric: Alaric is a decent choice for beginners as he offers good damage, great range, and easy-to-understand abilities. While his lack of defense can become a problem in the late game, you can sort that with the correct build. A few upgrades also allow Alaric to heal himself, and you should aim for inflicting as much Bleed as possible.
  • Cole: Another mage who is pretty well-balanced in terms of his kit design. He can inflict burn with his fire-damage-based spells. The splash damage from his fireballs is fun and can do AoE effects. Unfortunately, Cole's strengths taper off as you wander into the later game, and you'll have to then pair him with units that can hide his weaknesses.
  • Gideon: While Gideon isn't sublimely strong in any one department, he is a stable hero to learn the game with. He deals decent damage, has good defense, and some of his abilities also have AoE effects. As a bonus, he also has a good range on his attacks and a good shout against bosses.
  • Rickard: As the starter in Human Kingdom, almost all of us have tried to master him by now. Rickard is actually a decent choice, and his early game performances are fantastic. Unfortunately, he struggles massively in the endgame due to the complex nature of his upgrade paths. His general lack of shields means that you'll have to rely on other shield units. His damage in the late game does improve with the upgrades, and his abilities are easy to understand. Additionally, you get the most time to master him (as you receive him at the very beginning).
  • Sheva: Sheva is one of those characters who does a bit of everything. She can splash damage with her aqua attacks and pull enemies together. Both the base damage and range on her kit are more than decent. Some of her moves also debuff enemies, while she can also heal.

B-tier

  • Cadus: The starter hero of Undead Kingdom is let down by the poor self-defense. His defense is nearly non-existent, but he can do a decent amount of damage. He can also create a small army of minions to help him survive. Both his passives are also decent if you can master them, but the lack of defense will be problematic for most.
  • Grumdil: Grumdil isn't a weak hero, and he could be one of the strongest choices. However, he is arguably the hardest character to use. When you do manage to use him properly, Grumdil dishes out absurd amounts of shock damage. Unfortunately, his attack range is way too low. That said, he is amazing against bosses, but you'll have to understand how he moves and attacks while managing the low range and defense.
  • Mort: Mort, for some reason, has great damage potential but terrible range. His moves also provide debuffs, which is excellent. However, his base range is limited (gets worse on the splash damage). His limitations mean that you'll have to pair him with characters who have great defense. His abilities also fall off against bosses, and he's not worth the headaches in my books.

The Hero in Super Fantasy Kingdom next to a dog

You need to complete the extremely vague achievement "Be Kind" to unlock the Werewolf in Super Fantasy Kingdom. Completing the achievement is actually the easy part, which you can do from Day 1, but getting the Werewolf as a unit can take a little longer.

To "Be Kind" in Super Fantasy Kingdom, click the dog that runs around your kingdom a few times and wait for the next day. Your gesture of kindness is nothing more than to pet the dog a couple of times. If you struggle to find the dog, you can usually find it following your king around.

How to unlock the Werewolf

After you pet the dog, look for the Werewolf on the map to actually obtain it as a unit to recruit or an enemy to fight.

The Werewolf is in the northeast part of your starting kingdom, and it has a question mark over its head. To get to its spot, build roads to the north of your units, then towards the east, until you spot a Port with a fish hung by a hook. The Werewolf is right under it, next to the church where you recruit the Monk. You can see its location marked on the map below.

Just click the Werewolf, then click "Okay" to unlock it. From now on, it may show up either as a character you can recruit to protect your kingdom or as an enemy attacking you.

The Werewolf is an Infantry unit that deals physical damage and resists Plant while being weak to Fire. Its main skill inflicts Bleeding on enemies, which makes them lose 20% of their health over time. When you unlock its passive ability, it gains more damage the more units surround it, so keep that in mind when deploying it in the later stages of the game.

A player's kingdom with a castle, a tavern, and a lumberyard

Sacrificing a unit in Super Fantasy Kingdom is an achievement and one of the requirements to unlock the Lich, a unit you can recruit to fight for you. It's a strong unit worth chasing because of its Fear effect, which causes monsters to run away.

However, you only get the ability to sacrifice units later on in the game, after you've established a prosperous kingdom with a good influx of resources and refinement. That's because you need an Elemental Tower to offer your units to, and you need five Gold Ingots to build it. So, you need enough resources and kingdom space to have a Goldmine and a Smelter, and this can take a few runs to get.

Drag units into the Elemental Tower

The Elemental Tower summons an Elemental. Since Elementals can't level up with food, you must transfer XP from other units to them via sacrifice. To sacrifice a unit in Super Fantasy Kingdom, simply drag and drop any unit into the Elemental Tower. That unit will be consumed, and your Elemental will gain its XP and potentially level up.

You can only sacrifice one unit per day, and four units in total during a single run. After that, your Elemental XP will no longer grow.

Remember that units in Super Fantasy Kingdom are the ones that fight the monsters, so you can't sacrifice workers. To complete this achievement and unlock the Lich, any unit you sacrifice will do it. Your best bet is to sacrifice your weakest unit so that it powers up the Elemental.

You can use the Gold Ingots you'd spend on the Elemental Tower in unit upgrades instead. If you're playing a run to win and not just to unlock the Lich, it's best to evaluate your current units' lineup before sacrificing anyone. Sometimes it's best to upgrade an existing unit rather than sacrifice it.

Walking down the train track in Dimlose with warning signs before entering the dark woods

Welcome To The Dark Place throws you into the deep end, hoping you'll come out the other side a little more clued-up on what's happening around you.

Through paying attention to The Dark Place's six rules, alongside continuous trial and error, you will quickly learn what not to do so you have a fighting chance to exit through the Cloud and leave the darkness behind—for good. But purposely doing things wrong gives you one of the many Welcome To The Dark Place endings, and that's exactly what we want.

If you're wondering just how many endings there are in Welcome To The Dark Place, well, we are too. It wasn't until I randomly got ending 106 that I realized The Dark Place could kill me in hundreds of ways.

So, here are all Welcome To The Dark Place endings we've got so far.

Every Welcome To The Dark Place ending we've got and their unlock requirements

The easiest way to get an ending is to purposely do everything you're not supposed to. Ignore The Dark Place's six rules and choose the option that'll most likely kill you. Most endings are game-over screens, which reset your progress back to the moment you fell from the Cloud and crash-landed into The Dark Place.

But key and main endings will feature a pixelated cutscene and offer intriguing new lore at the main menu, right before you head into a new playthrough. This can point you to an untaken path or provide a bit more info on a location you might have visited before. So be sure you pay attention. We recommend gathering these endings when you're not in the middle of collecting the parts needed to fix the Dragon at the Cement Tower.

This article is a work in progress and will be updated as we find more endings.

Borderlands 4 is exactly what you'd expect, and that's mostly a good thing. It's loud, crude, and absolutely overflowing with guns, loot, and over-the-top explosions. Gearbox has doubled down on what makes the series click while fine-tuning the gunplay and adding a greater sense of freedom through its expanded movement system. It's not perfect; some […]
