Among the trio of new hardware devices Valve just announced for 2026 – which also include the Steam Frame VR headset and a redesigned Steam Controller – the new Steam Machine is probably the most surprising. Mainly because the original Steam Machines, a series of partner-built SteamOS mini-PCs, sank like rectangular stones upon launching in 2015.

Designed and built entirely in-house, the new model is a very different proposition, though it's not so much the updated hardware that has Valve believing it's time to give the Steam Machine another chance. According to engineers Yazan Aldehayyat and Pierre-Loup Griffais, the biggest problem faced by those doomed Machines was one that the Steam Deck's Proton software has solved: a lack of SteamOS-compatible games.

Wall World 2 isn't as easy to explain as its predecessor. Yes, it is still a roguelike in which you split your time between piloting a robotic spider up and down a giant wall in search of weak spots from which you can mine deep into the cliff face, digging up minerals to spend upgrading your mecha-arachnid's weapons, enhancing its ability to fight off periodic waves of pustule-covered aliens, until you either kill the biggest pustule-covered alien or die in the attempt. But now it's become a much more complex game, embellishing both its mining and combat halves and thinning the divide between them.

This is going to take a little explaining, with a lot of changes falling into the plus and minus columns, so here's an easy improvement to tide you over. You can now name your robospider; mine is called Nigel.

Ah, it's gotten a bit worse. Bethesda are planning to release two patches to Fallout 4 in order to rectify issues with its anniversary edition, meaning that the potential's there for more havoc to be played with mods. Though, outside of fixes for issues with the revamped Creations menu, it looks like a lot of the contents of these patches may end up being console-specific fixes, so there's a chance any extra PC disruption's relatively minimal.

I'd certainly hope it's less of a palaver than the update's initial arrival, which many modders have been quick to get on top of and push updates for their works.

The final episode of swish and salacious Telltale-style caped tellydrama Dispatch released yesterday. It's been a surprise hit - according to the gabbling labcoats at GameDiscoverCo, AdHoc's superhero workplace comedy is approaching two million sales. Reasons given for this range from the appealing but uninvestigated - there's a Galactus-sized untapped audience for narrative single player games, and all the publishers are absolute spanners for doubling down on live service projects instead - to the boring - people are still keen on superheroes, especially sociopathic and disgusting superheroes that cut against archetypes from the more pompous Marvel films, and Dispatch is simply a very well-made game.

Good games sell? What a gauche, back-of-napkin excuse for industry analysis. There must be a more arcane and clever-sounding explanation for Dispatch's meteoric fortunes. Ah yes, here we go: speaking to GameDiscoverCo, AdHoc's CEO and exec producer Michael Choung has suggested that it's partly down to the weekly episodic release schedule.

Gintama Smartphone Battle Chronicle

Sega has announced that it will launch a new Gintama mobile game with the title Gintama Smartphone Battle Chronicle. The company has also opened pre-registrations for the upcoming iOS and Android game via the newly opened official website.

Battle Chronicle will appear as a mobile RPG. Sega noted in the press release that the game will let players re-experience famous scenes from the Gintama show.

Based on the screenshots Sega has shared, players will be able to obtain characters like Gintoki and Shinpachi via gacha banners and use the provided stamina to access story and battle stages while providing equipment to the recruited characters.

Sega is also holding a pre-registration campaign for Battle Chronicle. If it surpasses 300,000 registrants, the company will gift an SSR Gintoki character and crystals worth 60 gacha pulls in total to all players at launch.

Other companies have also been releasing merchandise based on the Gintama franchise. In March 2025, Zoff unveiled glasses inspired by Gintama characters, while Sanrio revealed crossover merchandise that paired its mascots like Hello Kitty with Gintoki and other characters.

Gintama Smartphone Battle Chronicle will be available for iOS and Android devices in Japan. Sega has yet to inform the new mobile game's actual launch date as of the initial reveal.

Review: Life Sim Winter Burrow Makes Us Tiny Mice in a Cold World

Did you grow up with cute animal movies like The Secret of NIMH and Watership Down that pulled no punches when it came to serious subjects? Do you also like games that offers comforting routines and life sim elements? Well, Winter Burrow ticks all of those boxes by presenting us with a life sim about a young mouse who's all alone in the world and trying to survive. While some pacing and design elements do get a little frustrating if you're aware of how these types of titles go, it's adorable, a little bit dark, and encourages "one more day" sorts of gameplay sessions.

You're a tiny mouse. You grew up in a burrow in the woods. Life was harsh and meant facing the elements to survive, but your family was together! Your parents headed with you to the city in search of a better life. However, that led to the two of them working themselves to death. With urban life unaffordable and you all alone, you return to the now dilapidated burrow to attempt to see if surviving in the woods alone might be better after all.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlQo0Buvv-4

As the name suggests, it's the coldest season of the year in Winter Burrow, so your first priority when getting situated in this life sim is getting the mouse's burrow in the tree livable. Your four stats constantly displayed in the lower left corner are your mouse's health, hunger, temperature, and stamina. Health can go down if you are attacked by enemies like beetles, you start starving, or you let your temperature get down to zero when outside too long. (Ice will form at the edges of the screen like on a windowpane when this happens, and a reddish tint can signal disaster.) Stamina goes down when you run or use tools like an axe, pickaxe, or shovel. Your goal is to venture out each day in occasional spurts to gather materials and accomplish certain goals.

This means collecting materials and ingredients. In the initial area, you'll find twigs that could be combined with mushrooms to make a snack, kill beetles to make a roast out of their meat, or find beechnuts that could be turned into a beechnut biscuit. The food you chop from logs could be turned into planks for furniture. Cutting down grass and finding tufts of fur can become cloth for clothing and shoes. Useful furniture, like beds or storage boxes, can be placed. Other materials can be used to repair parts of the burrow like the stove, workbench, sitting area, and basement mushroom garden. It's essentially a situation in which you pick away at certain tasks to gain clothing and tools that make it easier for your to head into additional areas and accomplish more so you aren't just surviving, but thriving.

While I do appreciate that some aspects of Winter Burrow are designed to emphasize the survival elements of this life sim, it feels in desperate need of some quality of life additions or pacing patches. For example, unlike many crafting and life sims, you don't get all your basic tools right away. You'll spend quite a bit of time getting by with only an axe, needing to wait on a shovel and pickaxe. Likewise, it takes quite a bit of time to get more backpack space, as initially you only have the five spaces in your hotbar and then four slots in your bag. Key items like a, well, key? That also takes up a slot in your very limited bag. When watering mushrooms in the cellar "garden," there's no visual indication which plot was watered. I get that the limitations are designed to make you think critically about how much you can accomplish before the cold gets to your character or light runs out. But at the same time, we get access to warming drinks that would make it possible to explore into other regions of the map way before we get access to a bag that is large enough to actually make that kind of gathering mission worthwhile.

I also happened upon some things that might be bugs? When you do get access to the shovel, it will note its attack as being 10. But when I tried to use it to attack a beetle instead of the axe… it did no damage? (Fortunately, it didn't encourage aggro from the beetles in the area around the burrow, so I didn't put the mouse in danger.) Mushrooms are supposed to also drop the spores you can use to plant in your basement, but once I unlocked it I only got one additional spores drop after about four hours.

While those elements can get a little cumbersome, the tone in Winter Burrow is impeccable. It can go from calm and serene to darkly depressing in an instant. Like the aforementioned animals in Watership Down and The Secret of NIMH, life is absolutely not easy for the mice and creatures in the forest. We start with two deaths and a dilapidated home, then often see hope snatched away with the fear of more death and despair. At the same time, it's compelling in a way that makes you want to keep pushing forward in the hope things will get better for this little rodent with your help. Especially since it all looks so charming and cute.

While Winter Burrow doesn't shy away from the darker sides of survival games, it's also a charming and calming anthropomorphic mouse life sim. Yes, trying to get by in a big, cold world when you're a teeny, tiny mouse with very little is tough! But if you take your time, plot out a reliable routine, and keep pushing forward, you might be okay.

Winter Burrow is available for the Switch and PC

Call of Duty Black Ops 7 players are already running into issues of Packet Bursts while trying to enjoy the different modes, and there are a few solutions to try out.

Having Packet Bursts on the opening day isn't uncommon, and it has occurred with older Call of Duty titles. Packets Bursts typically happen due to issues with your internet and servers in general; however, there are a few extra settings to tweak to reduce the problems at hand.

Best solutions to prevent Packet Bursts in Black Ops 7

Here are a few settings to tweak if you're getting Packet Bursts (despite having no problems with your internet).

On-Demand Texture streaming feature in Black Ops 7
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Disable On-Demand Texture Streaming: While you can't turn it off entirely, you can set it to minimal. When set to optimized, it will download surface textures while you're playing the egame actively. Not only is the high-quality texture going to affect your setup graphically, but it will also consume your internet bandwidth. You can change this setting from Graphics.
  • Disable Dismemberment and Gore Effects: I might love dismembering zombies and enemies while spraying them with bullets, but it's going to increase the information being fed to the servers. If you're getting network issues, I will keep this feature turned off even if it reduces the immersive feel of Black Ops 7.

Disabling gore in Black Ops 7
Screenshot by Destructoid

  • Lower VRAM: You can reduce the VRAM Scale Target from your settings to reduce the amount of VRAM being used by Black Ops 7. Having more VRAM allows the game to perform better, but it will cause lag if it's consuming more space than required and conflicts with other operational apps.

Finally, make sure to check your internet if you're still getting Packet Bursts while trying to enjoy a session. Additionally, wait a bit for the game to download and pre-load all the shaders across the three modes. Promo image for Black Ops 7

Black Ops 7 is now live for PC and console players, and you can enhance your experience by changing the graphics if you're on the former.

PC users, as always, will be able to make more tweaks and customizations to maximize their hardware. Playing with settings that feel smooth on your PC is essential. Minimal stutters and lags will be key to hitting those elusive kill streaks.

Best tips and tricks for smooth graphics in Black Ops 7

You'll need to check some basics to get the best performance out of your hardware.

  • Update the graphics: The first thing you should do is check if your graphics drivers are updated to the latest version. If not, auto-download the newest version and install it before playing the full version.
  • Cap the FPS: Unless you have a superior graphics card, it might be better to cap the FPS to 90/60 (depending on your system). This will ensure no frame drops during a crucial moment in the battle.
  • Download the shaders: While they can load and install while you're live in a game, it's better to wait. The shaders don't take long (depending on your settings), and the performance will improve once the download and installation process is complete.

Best Black Ops 7 graphics settings

My hardware consists of a Ryzen 5600G, 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, and 12 GB of Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics. These are the current graphics I am using, and the performance so far has been pretty smooth.

BO7 multiplayer camos

It's time once again to get the squad together to farm lobbies for extravagant gun camos. It's Call of Duty season, baby!

Black Ops 7's robust multiplayer offering includes dozens of weapons, new and remastered maps, and mercifully, a reduction in skill-based matchmaking. This may make the camo grind easier than ever, but there's still a lot to be done to unlock all four Mastery camos this year.

Here's all the info you need on all of BO7's multiplayer camos and how to get them.

All BO7 multiplayer Military camos

There are nine Military camos to grind through before unlocking the good stuff. The challenges are the same or very similar per every gun in the game. For example, ARs and SMGs are headshots while melee weapons are just kills, and shotguns are point blank kills.

  • Underbrush: 5 Headshots
  • Woodland: 10 Headshots
  • Slate Digital: 20 Headshots
  • Redwood: 30 Headshots
  • Poison: 40 Headshots
  • Toxic: 50 Headshots
  • Mountain: 60 Headshots
  • Stalker: 70 Headshots
  • Ruby Snake: 80 Headshots

All BO7 multiplayer Mastery camos

The four major Mastery camos in BO7 multiplayer are Shattered Gold, Arclight, Tempest, and Singularity. The challenges to unlock each of these are the same for every gun, and they only become available after all Military and Special camos are unlocked for that gun:

  • Shattered Gold: Get 3 kills without dying 10 times
  • Arclight: Get 10 double kills
  • Tempest: Get 5 kills without dying 3 times
  • Singularity: Unlock Tempest on 30 weapons

BO7 Zombies camos and operators

The undead just do not stay dead, do they? But at least they bring loot! Call of Duty's Zombies mode is back in Black Ops 7, and there's a whole lot of camos to earn in it.

Starting with Ashes of the Damned, BO7's first round-based Zombies map, new content for the co-op mode will be added throughout the year. But on day one, there's a ton of stuff to unlock and earn, including four Mastery camos and several others for the game's 30-plus weapons.

Here's everything there is to know about BO7's Zombies camos and how to unlock them.

All BO7 Zombies camos

Every weapon has the same nine Military camos that can be unlocked, and the challenges for them are the same or similar across all weapons (for example, for shotguns, they are Point Blank kills instead of Critical Kills like for assault rifles or SMGs). Here's an example of what you need to do:

  • Char: 100 Critical Kills
  • Tundra: 200 Critical Kills
  • Flood Digital: 300 Critical Kills
  • Cedar: 400 Critical Kills
  • Marshland: 500 Critical Kills
  • Mire: 600 Critical Kills
  • Ravine: 700 Critical Kills
  • Skulk: 800 Critical Kills
  • Emerald Snake: 1,000 Critical Kills

All BO7 Zombies Mastery camos

Each mode in BO7 has Mastery camos. The four major Mastery camos for BO7 Zombies are Golden Dragon, Bloodstone, Doomsteel, and Infestation. The challenges to unlock each of these are the same for every gun:

  • Golden Dragon: Get 10 kills rapidly 15 times
  • Bloodstone: Get 20 or more consecutive kills without taking damage 5 times
  • Doomsteel: Kill 10 Elite Zombies
  • Infestation: Unlock Doomsteel on 30 weapons

BO7 Endgame fighters

New year, new Call of Duty, same old stuff, right? Not exactly.

For the first time ever in CoD, Black Ops 7 has a whole wealth of new weapon camos to earn via the game's campaign. Not only that, but once the campaign missions are done, the brand new 32 player co-op PvE mode Endgame unlocks and the real camo grind can begin.

Here's all the info you need on all of the camos in BO7's co-op campaign and Endgame mode, including four new Mastery camos.

Unlocking the first nine Military camos is your first step in Endgame/campaign, and all of the challenges are tied to critical kills (headshots/weakpoints) or other similar challenges, like point blank kills for shotguns:

  • Foliage: 10 Critical Kills
  • Desert: 25 Critical Kills
  • City Digital: 50 Critical Kills
  • Pine: 75 Critical Kills
  • Forest: 100 Critical Kills
  • Sludge: 125 Critical Kills
  • Plateau: 150 Critical Kills
  • Nocturne: 200 Critical Kills
  • Topaz Snake: 250 Critical Kills

All BO7 co-op campaign Mastery camos

The four major Mastery camos in BO7's campaign are Molten Gold, Moonstone, Chroma Flux, and Genesis. The challenges to unlock each of these are the same for every gun and they only unlock once you have all Military and Special camos for a particular gun:

  • Molten Gold: Eliminate 20 Special enemies
  • Moonstone: Eliminate 100 Zone 3 or Zone 4 enemies
  • Chroma Flux: Eliminate 10 Elite enemies
  • Genesis: Unlock Chroma Flux on 30 weapons

BO7 campaign Lucky Cat

During the seventh mission of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's campaign, Fracture, the team gets stuck inside of a resort in Japan.

In reality, it's a hallucination brought on by the trauma from a mission gone awry in 50/50's past. Either way, you're stuck because there's a keypad code you need, and 50/50 can't quite remember it. Luckily for you, I am a sleuth as well as a CoD player.

Here's what you need to know for BO7 co-op campaign mission Fracture's keypad code solution.

'Press Forward - Find the keypad code' solution in BO7 campaign

The solution to the keypad code "puzzle" on Fracture is right in front of you...or behind you. First, hack the terminal in the room opposite of where the keypad is by rotating and connecting the modules as you've done numerous times throughout the campaign before this.

Once the hacking puzzle is complete, look behind the counter of the hotel resort lobby and you will see all sorts of red numbers flashing on the screen. "The numbers, Mason, what do they mean?!" Sound familiar?

50/50 will do you the courtesy of repeating the first two numbers over and over again as 4-2. When looking at the screen, there's only one set that begins with 4-2. For me, the code I input to open the door was 4-2-8-3, as you can see in the image below, and it worked fine.

The keypad code looks like it wants you to enter in eight numbers, but the four I put in work just fine. This code may differ for each individual player or playthrough, as Black Ops games have done in the past. So first, try 4-2-8-3, otherwise, look at the numbers on the screen behind the hotel counter and enter those in, whatever can be found bundled with 4-2.

If it's not 4-2-8-3, just enter in whatever the screen shows for you and then input it on the keypad to continue the mission.

BO7 M15 Mod 0 Violet Network camo

The world of Call of Duty weapon camos has never been richer than in Black Ops 7.

On top of Military, Special, and Mastery camos for multiplayer, Zombies, co-op campaign, and even Warzone, there's also specific weapon camos to be earned through Weapon Prestige levels, and they're actually some of the best in the game. Some are animated while others are throwbacks to Black Ops 2 classic camos, but they will not be easy to obtain.

Here's all there is to know about all of the Weapon Prestige camos found in BO7.

BO7 Weapon Prestige camos

When you reach max level with a weapon, you can choose to enter Prestige mode for it to reset your progress and begin ranking it up from the beginning. Doing so can reward some awesome stuff, like exclusive weapon camos. You can Prestige over and over again with each weapon all the way up to Prestige 250, which will unlock a unique animated weapon camo.

There are three universal Weapon Prestige Mastery camos that each weapon gets when finishing certain thresholds within Weapon Prestige:

  • Cobalt Circuit: Reach Prestige Master level 100
  • Vermilion Cypher: Reach Prestige Master level 150
  • Violet Network: Reach Prestige Master level 200

Additionally, each weapon has three unique camos for reaching Prestige 1, Prestige 2, and Max Prestige. These are universal camos that can then be applied to any weapon in the game.

There are also quite a few returning camos from Black Ops 2 that are part of Prestige Camos, such as Cyborg, Cherry Blossom, Bacon, and many others. To find them on our list, press CTRL+F to search for the specific camo you're looking for.

Stella Montis map in ARC Raiders

Update 1.2.0 patch notes are now available for all ARC Raiders, and there's a substantial amount of changes in this version.

Update 1.2.0 marks the start of The North Line update, which is the first significant content drop in ARC Raiders since its global launch. While the Stella Montis map headlines the patch, there are plenty of nerfs and buffs to go through.

This guide will give you a quick overview of all the major changes.

Complete ARC Raiders Update 1.2.0 patch notes

Here are the main highlights of the new match.

  • Stella Montis is available as the fifth map. You'll have to work together with the community to unlock the map.
  • New set of Stella Montis exclusive quests.
  • Two new enemies in the form of the Shredder and Matriarch.
  • New Explosives
  • Two new play styles

While all these additions will be excellent for fans to enjoy, there are plenty of gameplay changes.

  • Reduced character movement latency on server to improve the "desync" problem where it looks like you get damaged even after behind cover.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from completing quests involving multiple objectives or item collections within a single round.
  • Fixed various achievements not working correctly. Players will need to redo some achievements with only one objective item (e.g. "Destroy the Queen") while achievements with multiple objectives will only need parts of them completed again.
  • Reduced delay between shooting at ARC and seeing impact effects on the target.
  • Fixed various locations where players could fall through the terrain.

Here are some of the critical balance changes you can witness in ARC Raiders after downloading the update.

  • Wolfpack value increased from 3,000 to 5,000 Coins.
  • ARC motion Core and ARC Circuitry are now available at Refiner level 2.
  • Value of Launcher ammo increased from 100 to 200 Coins.
  • Reduced XP per damage for Bastion, Bombardier, Rocketeer, and Leaper.
  • Increased XP from looting ARC Parts from Rocketeer Thrusters and Leaper Leg.

Additionally, Update 1.2.0 also includes plenty of bug fixes, which include solutions for those suffering from desync. Hopefully, the gameplay and balance updates will be the icing on the cake as we get busy with Stella Montis. You can read the complete patch notes from the official Embark website.

A new ESRB rating for Red Dead Redemption hints at potential PS5 and Switch 2 versions. Unlike previous ports, this might be a remaster, including an Xbox Series version and possibly improved features.
