The Norscans now give birth to squadrons of porters when they pillage stuff. The Trolls have discovered imperialism, the High Elves have devised a patronage system, and the Dark Elves have learned how to prioritise. This news comes a few months after ex-Skyblivion level and world designer Dee Keyes called the 2025 release goal the mod's team set in 2023 "pointless and unachievable". Keyes also accused Skyblivion project lead Kyle 'Rebelzize' Rebel and implementation lead Heavy Burns of rushing the project out the door and mismanaging communication within the team, subsequently sharing more of his perspective on the project in a video interview with RPS sister site Eurogamer. In a response to Keyes' original claims, Heavy Burns asserted that "many of the statements in his post are either misrepresented or just untrue". |

Final Fantasy XI Director and Producer Yoji Fujito shared details about the 2025 December Version Update, and it will add Ultima and Omega-inspired Limbus Monsters and a Gobbie Mystery Box Festival Dial during the FFXI Starlight Celebration. Both additions will become regular fixtures, though the dial will only show up during events.
Only initial details about how the Gobbie Mystery Box Festival Dial will work in FFXI appeared, as well as the confirmation that the Starlight Celebration will mark its first appearance. As we go through the MMORPG, we'll be able to get #FES Dial Key items. Those can then be taken to a Goblin just like other Dial Keys. When redeemed, you can get various rewards in return. Fujito also noted that all Dial Keys will will be traded in at once, rather than one at a time, as a new quality of life feature in the update.
With Limbus, there are going to be the Ultima and Omega-inspired encounters and new items as a result in FFXI. The exact names weren't mentioned, and we don't know how they will differ from the existing opponents. They will show up in December 2025. The new equipment can be made with the treasure chest rewards from facing them.
The full update also went over some addition additions. Dynamis - Divergence will change based on player feedback. AOE damage will be rebalanced, specifically when it comes to opponents surrounding the main target. There will be safer starting locations after the first wave. Boss HP will be more clear. Also, in January 2026 EXP loss in shared areas will be removed. The December 2025 Ambuscade will also get Soulflayers in Volume 1 and Flans in Volume 2.
Final Fantasy XI is available for PCs, and the December 2025 update will arrive soon. The Jeuno, Back in the Spotlight Kam'lanaut event is also live until December 9, 2025.

Taito and Square Enix announced the next piece of merchandise heading to Japanese arcades, and it will be a The Great White Tsuchinoko plush based on the FFXIV Heavensturn New Year's event. This will show up at the end of December 2025, perhaps just ahead of New Year's Eve and day. Only one store that ships worldwide is taking orders, and that is Aitai Kuji. It is selling it for ¥4,500 (~$29).
The Great White Tsuchinoko appeared as a minion reward in the 2025 FFXIV Heavensturn celebration. It is designed to resemble both The Great Serpent of Ronka and Japanese New Year kagami mochi rice cakes with an orange on top. This plush will be almost 10 inches tall (25cm). It will be posed with the character sitting up, so the pose will look even more like kagami mochi. The preview image for it also shows someone pulling at the surface, to highlight it will be stretchy like mochi.
Here's the first photo of it:
This is the second recent item from the game to appear in arcades. Taito revealed a piggy bank that resembles a Fat Cat in November 2025.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the FFXIV Great White Tsuchinoko plush will show up in arcades in Japan at the end of December 2025.

Sanrio and Thirdverse are preparing a Hello Kitty Skyland VR game for Meta Quest 2, 3, and 3S headsets. Rather than a 1.0 launch on December 22, 2025, it will debut in early access. Additional elements will be added to it as time go by. The product page isn't live as of time of writing, but will be available to wishlist. It will be free-to-play.
At launch, only a handful of elements from the full Hello Kitty VR game will be present. There will be one minigame to play, which is called Sky Dash. That will feature picking Sanrio mascots and running through what looks like an obstacle course in the sky. A lobby will also be available to explore. Players will get to make avatars and customize them, with costumes based on the company's icons available. This will be a game with in-app purchases, but Sanrio and Thirdverse didn't note if costumes and other elements will be among the add-ons we can buy.
Here's the first Hello Kitty Skyland trailer, which focuses on the hub area, Sky Dash, and avatar customization on a Meta Quest 2 or 3.
There are also a handful of initial screenshots, which show avatars interacting and the Sky Dash course.
Hello Kitt Sky Dash will be available in early access on the Meta Quest 2 and 3 starting on December 22, 2025.

McDonald's Japan is advertising its new Three-Cheese Beef Stew Pie with a parody of the song "Cirno's Perfect Math Class" by IOSYS from Touhou Project. You can watch the McDonald's video via its official X (formerly Twitter) account and YouTube.
Like previous parody songs, the lyrics have been changed to reflect the menu item in question. Cirno advertises the three types of cheese that are in the pie (cheddar, gouda, and Camembert). Instead of yelling "baka, baka" ("idiot, idiot") during the chorus, the lyrics go "burger, burger," which sounds very similar in Japanese. Other Touhou Project characters who make appearances in the video include Yakumo and Marisa.
You can watch the video below via the McDonald's Japan YouTube channel:
The original Cirno's Perfect Math Class music video, which IOSYS uploaded 15 years ago, has accumulated 13 million views on YouTube. It is an arrangement of her boss theme from Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. You can watch that below to compare the two.
This is not the first time that McDonald's has used an arrangement of a Touhou Project track for an advertising campaign. In 2024, it released a version of "Marisa Stole The Precious Thing" to promote its Samurai Mac Triple Thick Beef Burger.
The Three-Cheese Beef Stew Pie is available at McDonald's Japan for a limited time. The pie itself (without a combo or anything) costs 240 JPY ($1.55).

The Japanese version of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer appeared a few weeks after the English one, and it revealed Maaya Sakamoto will be the Rosalina voice actor and Daiki Yamashita will play Bowser Jr. They join returning cast members like Mamoru Miyano (Mario) and Arisu Shida (Princess Peach). The film debuts in Japan on April 24, 2026.
Both Maaya Sakamoto and Daiki Yamashita are well known as voice actors ahead of their appearances as Rosalina and Bowser Jr in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. She's a voice actress and singer, with some of her most notable parts being Aerith in FFVII, Aigis in Persona 3 (including Reload), Lightning in FFXIII, Mari in Evangelion, Rem in Trigun, Echidna in Re:Zero, and Akito in Fruits Basket. Meanwhile, we can hear him as Deku in My Hero Academia, Sakamichi in Yowamushi Pedal, and Mafuyu in Sakamoto Days.
Here's the version of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer with Japanese voice acting and, while we get to hear Daiki Yamashita as Bowser Jr, we don't get to hear Maaya Sakamoto as Rosalina yet.
As a reminder, we already knew the cast for the English version of the movie. All actors from the original installment will return for the film, with Brie Larson joining as Rosalina and Benny Safdie showing up as Bowser Jr.
The original Super Mario Movie is available now physically and digitally, and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will appear in theaters in the US on April 3, 2026 and in Japan on April 24, 2026.

More Desktop Mate DLC is here and coming, with the immediately available items being two versions of Reimu from the Touhou Project series and the upcoming ones being two VOCALOMAKETS Vocaloids. The $14.99 Hakurei Reimu and $7.49 Yukkuri Reimu add-ons are live now, and Kizuna Akari and Yuzuki Yukari will launch on December 9, 2025.
In the case of the Touhou Project Desktop Mate additions, both DLC feature versions of the same character. They can be purchased alone or in a $20.23 bundle together. Yukkuri Reimu is less expensive due to, well, her being just a head. That includes Nonoko's design and a new 3D model. The Hakurei Reimu option is more detailed, both due to the fact that she includes new voiced lines by Sumire Uesaka and actions that involve her shrine maiden duties. It also features a custom wallpaper inspired by the series from Nonoko.
Here's the trailer showing them off:
And you can see the official screenshots of both below.
As for the Vocaloids Kizuna Akari and Yuzuki Yukari, we know some details about that. Those will feature VOCALOMAKETS audio for their voiced lines. Characters will have special actions. Juu Ayakura will also work on their models.
Here's how those will look:

Ever since Destiny 2's Star Wars "homage" DLC Renegades was announced, I was confused by what to think about it. But after a few hours, it became abundantly clear that is was all very wink-wink, nudge-nudge stuff.
Just about everything within the story of Renegades is Star Wars-flavored, as you would expect from the partnership between Bungie and Lucasfilm. There's a lawless frontier, good vs. evil, a weapon of mass destruction, and lightsabers. It's all been told before in different ways, but now through the lens of the Destiny franchise.
And you know what? For the most part, I really dig it.
Death Star? Check. Jedi and Sith? Yep. Lightsabers? Of course! A dingy marketplace and cantina that's Destiny's version of a wretched hive of scum and villainy? You got it. Walking tanks similar to the AT-AT? Bingo. And wouldn't you know it, someone even loses a hand.
It's even got a villain who's more Kylo Ren than Adam Driver, but to my pleasant surprise, it's all still very Destiny and fits well within the parameters of the franchise. New areas are inspired by the sci-fi stuff of legend. Mars looks like Tattooine with its own Taken-flavored "sarlacc pit," Venus is very Return of the Jedi Dagobah, and Europa stands in for the icy planet of Hoth.
The Cabal "Imperion" in their white armor are meant to evoke Stormtroopers, their "Death Star" (which seemingly came out of nowhere, but that's explained via the campaign), and the blaster weaponry are all examples of a DLC that's Star Wars, but at the same time, not.
In the end, it's a pretty cool product. Using the Destiny version of a lightsaber (Praxic Blade) by way of the franchise's version of the Jedi (Praxic Order) to deal with what can be described as Destiny's Sith (Dredgens) just kind of fits. And that's probably because, like a lot of sci-fi stories, Destiny was already taking several cues from Star Wars originally.
But it's not all good news, and I've got a bad feeling about this! Almost every mission of the campaign takes place in the format of the Lawless Frontier activity where you deploy into an area, complete some objectives, and then exfil. Only a couple of the missions have Destiny 2's trademark setpieces and action sequences, with a handful of cutscenes along the way. The rest of the exposition is through radio dialogue and several annoying trips back to social spaces for your next objective.
There's easter eggs everywhere if you look for them, like this wreckage that's meant to evoke memories of pod racing in the image below. It's a fun egg hunt for Star Wars fans who enjoy Destiny, and vice versa. And it's all told within the confines of a Destiny 2 story that advances the plot forward after the events of The Edge of Fate's big revelations.
Will Renegades save Destiny 2? I don't know, but probably not. It's still got many of the same issues as far as keeping players coming back, but for now, this DLC is something that I can look to and say I had some good fun with.
It remains to be seen if I or others will be back for next weekly reset, but I'm taking this campaign as a minor victory for now.
The post Destiny 2: Renegades is a mixed bag that's unmistakably Star Wars, but it's all pretty tongue-in-cheek appeared first on Destructoid. |

These are arguably some of the best options you can include in this evolution. They don't need to be combined in any of the older evolutions. Since the overall only increases by one, these evolved cards should be eligible for a new evolution in the near future. I only learned about Horses, a unique-looking horror title featuring naked men wearing horse masks, when it made the news for getting a Steam ban. It's just been banned from the Epic Store, too, which had me finding out whether the real reason was spooky or just plain dumb.
So, the reasoning behind the bans on both storefronts was mature content... of the non-specified type. Maybe because it features things too scary or sexy to even write about? Epic didn't go beyond stating that Horses violates their policies for "Inappropriate" and "Hateful or Abusive Content." Well, Horses shows butt-naked, forcefully anthropomorphized horses, among other possibly sexy or just straight-up terrifying elements, but it's not a pornographic game, nor does it feature any sort of pro-hate stance. It's just puzzling that such a game would get banned like this, but it gets even sillier.
It's especially strange for Steam, a storefront with way too many sex games. At first, the ban seems more reasonable when coming from Epic. This is the company mostly known for Fortnite, a game whose cute aesthetics almost make you forget it's about 100 kids shooting each other until death.
Still, Horses earned an IARC certificate of PEGI 18 and ESRB M, nothing above that, and both Epic and Steam are still overruling it. So, Epic considers Horses "mature content", and that the company explains that it just doesn't sell that kind of stuff, unless, well, let's just use their official statement because there's no way I could make it funnier if I wanted: "Products with AO ratings cannot be distributed on the Epic Games Store (the only exception is for products in cases where an AO rating was applied solely due to the usage of blockchain or NFT technology)."
Santa Ragione, the indie developer studio behind Horses, is aware of how ridiculous this all sounds, so they have a regularly updated explainer of the entire debacle that you can read.
The team only learned of the ban roughly 24 hours before the game's launch. I'm yet to play Horses, but, if most accounts from respected video game outlets that have tried it are to be believed, it's a damn good game, and far from something that should be forbidden. Santa Ragione has since appealed Epic's verdict, but the appeal has been denied.
You can now get Horses on GOG and Itch.io.

Destiny 2 got a bona fide lightsaber in Renegades. The Praxic Blade is one of the most exciting Exotics in the game, and you get it in the latter half of the expansion's main quest. Getting it, however, is just the beginning of your journey.
The Praxic Blade, like any good lightsaber, boasts a slew of customization options, both for gameplay and for cosmetics. While yes, some of them are indeed in the Eververse, the lion's share as of launch is unlocked through regular gameplay.
Here's how you get the Praxic Blade in Destiny 2 Renegades and how you can use it.
When do you get the Praxic Blade (Lightsaber) in Destiny 2 Renegades?
The Praxic Blade drops from the Fire and Ice mission, which is step 33 of the Renegades campaign. The game asks you to "Visit the Praxic Temple with Aunor," giving you your own version of the Jedi training. Completing Fire and Ice grants you the Praxic Blade with one colored crystal (blue or green), as well as the starting versions of each trait.
After getting your lightsaber and completing the campaign, Aunor will lead you into the Praxic's Path quest, essentially a tutorial on how to improve your Praxic Blade. This teaches you how to unlock more upgrades for your lightsaber and grants you an extra colored crystal (blue or green, depending on which one you didn't get at first).
What does the Praxic Blade do in Destiny 2 Renegades?
The Praxic Blade has a slew of unique traits. The more Exotic of them are:
Like Wolfsbane, however, you can also unlock a litany of upgrades that touch on the weapon's stats, tie it into subclass verbs, and even apply catalysts to your lightsaber.

I'm sometimes still asked for my student ID, even though I'm officially on the steadier side of 30. Spotify knows all my secrets, though: It found the suspiciously wrinkled portrait in the attic, and stared straight into my soul, guesstimating my listening age as 57 in my 2025 Wrapped.
Supposedly, I racked up 353 different genres this year, too. I've always had eclectic tastes with a penchant for the weird and the wonderful, so neither this stat nor the visage of an elderly man is entirely out of place—and if I had to guess, the dollop of classical music included in my top songs in the year is certainly playing a part in this chronological aberration.
I'll give you some of my top suggestions for the year below, but first, I'd still like to take some umbrage in this silly little stat. After all, surely there's more than enough video game music on the playlist to grant me at least a soft cap of 45 years?
First, the ambitious but flawed Knights in Tight Spaces has a wicked soundtrack, courtesy of nervous_testpilot of Frozen Synapse fame. As for so many others, Blue Prince was one of my standout game experiences of the year, and the song in the OST that plays when you open the door to Room 46—Ovinn Nevarei—is glorious.
The Spotify algorithm has also blessed me with a song from the as-of-yet-unreleased VICE Undercover's soundtrack, which comes with obvious Miami Vice inspirations that it proudly wears on its sleeve; I ended up infatuated with one of the remixes for The King of Miami. For an even deeper cut, there's the version of Feel Good Inc. that is made entirely of Stronghold Crusader's sound assets, alongside bits of the Stellaris and GTA 5 soundtracks. Couple these with some choice selections from The Tetris Effect and the Unreal Tournament remix album of Alexander Brandon and Michiel van den Bos, surely we can settle on 40 years at most?
No? Alright.
Enterprising musical sleuths will find a few more games-related entries on my top songs playlist for the year, but I'd like to leave you with some different recommendations instead to wrap this up. Vangelis' The City is a joyously perfect musical distillation of a big-town atmosphere, John Rutter's classical works offer a Mozart-like easy entry into the world of beautiful choral arrangements, Alpine Universe offers a fascinatingly unique take on the mix of electronic and classical music, and if you have never heard of Sparks and Yello before, you are missing out. As for a bit of internet humor, Tom Cardy's 3 Hours With A Close-Up Magician was a surprisingly good background song for endless chess binge sessions.
You know what, now I'm starting to see why one of my colleagues wondered whether the digits in that age guess should be flipped…

As a dimension-hopping exterminator extraordinaire, your tools of the trade end up a bit eclectic. Have you tried killing spiders with a minigun? How about we get weirder with some black magic? Here are all the potion recipe locations in Kill It With Fire 2, and what they do
To craft recipes, you need to locate the cauldron in the second level of Kill It With Fire 2. It's around the corner from where you start in Artois Manor: A room lined with shelves storing ingredients such as butterfly wings, beetles, and bones. This is where you can brew and unlock potions and drinks in the game. Ingredients for the potions are located throughout the manor, ranging from the cauldron room to the kitchen and beyond.
Creating all four potions will allow you to complete the 'Potion Master' side quest, opening up a cabinet door in the manor's upstairs bathroom.

All potion recipe locations in Kill It With Fire 2
There are four potion recipes to find in Kill It With Fire 2. The first one is a gimme, while three others are hidden throughout other dimensions. Let's find them all and celebrate the dark arts, together.
Potion Recipe 1: Spider Potion
You will find the first potion recipe in the cauldron room of Artois Manor. One wall in the room contains instructions on a blackboard detailing how to use the cauldron, while another blackboard reveals the Spider Potion recipe. Adjust the fire accordingly while tossing in the ingredients, and follow up with a stir of the ladle to the left of the cauldron. The Spider Potion is a necessary potion to create, as it helps you complete objectives in every dimension.
Spider Potion effect: Drinking the potion temporarily turns you into a tiny spider with a leap move on a cooldown. Use it to enter places your larger body can't, such as holes in the wall.
Potion Recipe 2: Rad Cola
The second recipe in Kill It With Fire 2 is located in the second level, Downtown Arachnitopia. On the third island, head to the central park area and tear into the rectangular, light-gray building in front of the green grass to find the recipe for Rad Cola.
You may have some trouble locating all the ingredients for the potion. The bones are on the shelf in the cauldron room (you'll need to know the difference between a tibia and a femur), but the salt and pepper are in the kitchen on the counter to the right of the stove:
For the "ashes of a loved one" (grim), grab the urn off the fireplace mantle underneath a picture of ol' gam gam in the parlor:
Rad Cola effect: Temporarily turns you radioactive, which makes it so dead spiders are resurrected as zombie spiders. This is a good potion to use if you still need to complete the 'Undead Reckoning' objective on the HSF Vindicator ship.
Potion Recipe 3: Energy Drink
The Energy Drink recipe is found in the third dimension, HEM Foods & Furniture. You'll find the whiteboard next to the door between the Home Goods section and the Warehouse. But the recipe is incomplete. To unlock it, you need to complete the objective 'Reverse Engineered Recipe'. In other words, you have to run around the Home Goods section and locate seven hidden Energy Drinks.
They're only in the Home Goods section, scattered around appliances and hidden between boxes. Look in the corner across from the whiteboard, up on the ceiling light, and under the 'Wet Floor' sign. If you have the radar upgraded to reveal hidden items, this should be a breeze.
Once you found all the drinks, the whiteboard will be complete:
Every ingredient you need, save for one, is located in the cauldron room. You can find the pineapple on top of the refrigerator in the Artois Manor kitchen:
Energy Drink effect: The Energy Drink gives you a 15-second speed boost. There is no limit on its use.
Potion Recipe 4: 1N-V15
The fourth potion, 1N-V15, is a tough one to track down, but you'll find it in the HSF Vindicator. You first need to have 35 Compound X and the Sniper Rifle. Unlock the 'Captain's Quarters' in the 'Command Wing' of the ship and meander over to the window.
Zooming with the Sniper Rifle into the void reveals... a floating whiteboard with the recipe. Honestly, I'm impressed I even found this one. I was just looking through the window on a whim and saw it out there.
The recipe is hard to see, so I have it fully written out below:
Recipe: Solution 1N-V15
Don't freak out! The 'black cats' needed for the recipes are actually just statues. You need three: The first one is to the left of the cauldron itself; the second is to the left of the fireplace in the parlor; and the third statue is on a table in the attic.
Solution 1N-V15 effect: The potion turns you temporarily invisible, allowing you to get the drop on spider threats.
There may be more hidden recipes to find, so keep experimenting.
Potion Recipe 5: Snake Oil
The recipe can be found at Rancho Saguaro - Final Chamber of Mine quest. Destroy the wall and head inside to find walls with strange markings. Here's how you can prepare the Snake Oil potion.
All five plushies can be found in the basement.
