Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, February 6, 2026 11:55 AM Square Enix have announced Paranormasight: The Mermaid's Curse, a summery sequel to horror mystery visual novel Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo. The original game earned itself a double thumbs-up from former RPS reviews editor Rachel Watts, shortly before she vanished while gathering blood-stained stones one moonlit night. (I am just joshing with you – Rachel is alive and well over at Thinky Games. Remember, there's no such thing as ghosts and there definitely isn't one hovering behind you right now.) The Mermaid's Curse should be good, then. It trades the first game's gloomy streets for the coast of Japan, where young pearl diver Yuza Minakuchi discovers another version of himself at the bottom of the ocean. I routinely discover other versions of myself at the bottom of a bottle of Tuppersmith's Old Peculiar, but nobody's making any dang visual novels about me. Anyway, here's a trailer. |

Hatsune Miku x Kuromi plush toys are now available in Japan, continuing the crossover between the Sanrio mascot and Snow Miku variant of the Vocaloid. FuRyu announced two different kinds of stuffed animals and dolls, and Taito confirmed both are in its online crane games. This follows the Hatsune Miku Cinnamoroll collaboration that resulted in things like figures and plush.
These fall into two different types of FuRyu plush collections. The four smaller Hatsune Miku and Kuromi toys are part of the Mochipiko line. The single large stuffed doll is one of FuRyu's Kyurumaru toys.
The smaller Mochipiko ones are part of a set of four that include two versions of the Vocaloid and two versions of the mascot. Those are each about three and a half inches tall (nine centimeters). Both of the Miku designs are wearing the same purple and black dress with black hats like Kuromis, though the facial expressions are different. The two Kuromi plush feature different color hoods, with one being black and the other purple, and wear outfits that match Miku's.
As for the Kyurumaru plush, that features a nine inch plush (23cm). It is the most detailed of the options available. This version of Snow Miku wears a black and purple Gothic Lolita style dress with pink skull on it. Her hair also has black streaks in it. Over her right pigtail is a small Kuromi, and her left pigtail has a hair accessory that resembles' Kuromi's ears.
Here's how all the items look:
These follow the Good Smile Company official figure of the two together. That also featured Snow Miku. However, the outfit for that item isn't in the Gothic Lolita style.
The FuRyu Hatsune Miku Kuromi plush toys based on the Snow Miku design and Sanrio mascot are now available as arcade prizes in Japan, and we don't know if or when those stuffed animals and dolls could appear worldwide.

Stern Pinball announced that it will be working with The Pokemon Company to release actual Pokemon Pinball cabinets. A reveal date hasn't been set yet. However, there is a trailer teasing the table and a placeholder site live now. It is apparently coming "soon," so perhaps a reveal could appear around the series' 30th anniversary on February 27, 2026. It is unknown how similar this could end up being to the original game.
At the moment, there are very few details about the cabinet available. Since the teaser trailer featured a lot of yellow in it, it is likely Pikachu will be featured in some way. The company did noted that three variants will be available. The basic model is a Pro one that will cost $6,999. The second tier up is Premium for $9,699. Finally, there will also be only 750 Limited Edition versions that will cost $12,999. The announcement site lets people sign up for information.
Here's the official teaser trailer for the upcoming table.
While this would be the first big Pokemon Pinball cabinet, there were spin-off games that already featured this premise. The first appeared on the Game Boy Color. It featured a mechanic in which the pinball would be a Poke Ball. As you'd play through the tables, you'd collect the original 151 characters. A sequel showed up on the GBA with similar mechanics. While neither are part of Nintendo Switch Online yet, they did appear on past Virtual Consoles.
The Stern Pokemon Pinball cabinet is in development, and there's no release date for it yet.

Bandai Namco's MegaHouse announced another round of sales for the Lucrea Hatsune Miku Gundam Wing Zero Endless Waltz (EW) figure. It's a move made in response to demand for the crossover item. This second pre-order is now live in Japan. It still costs ¥27,500 (~$186). People who order from this batch will still see them in June 2026, which is when the first round is also expected to appear. Stores like Crunchyroll are still selling it outside of Japan, but it hasn't joined the other Miku Gundam figures on Amazon yet.
For this figure, Hatsune Miku is dressed in a uniform like the ones seen in the Gundam Wing Endless Waltz anime, and she has wings like the ones seen on XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero on her back. It's a static figure with no extra accessories or posing parts. So what you see is what you get with the 10 inch (270mm) figure.
As a reminder, here are some of the official photos showing how she looks:
There have been many Hatsune Miku Gundam items as part of this crossover. Keychains appeared, and Bandai Namco offered them in its Gashapon capsule machines outside Japan too. Other figures showed up, both in stores and as prizes in Japanese arcades. The Premium Bandai storefront also sold gunpla model kits with color schemes based on the Vocaloid worldwide, but those sold out when pre-orders opened.
The Hatsune Miku x Gundam Wing Endless Waltz (EW) figure will debut in Japan in June 2026.

Blade and Silver Wolf are taking part on behalf of the Stellaron Hunters.
Some of the various banners and freebies that will be available after 4.0 starts appeared. First, the Phase 1 banners at launch will feature the new five-star Yao Guang and returning Black Swan, Evernight, and Hysilens. The Phase 2 at the halfway point will have the new Sparxie one and returning Cerydra, Rappa, and Sparkle. 10 limited banner pulls will be given away in a Gift of Odyssey login event and an additional 10 will be provided right away as a Gift Arcadia, with both able to be used on any of those phases' banners. Everyone can get the Ruan Mei Plumblossom Letter outfit for free during this version, and when you first log in you can choose to get Acheron, Aventurine, Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae, Jing Yuan, Jingliu, Kafka, or Sparkle for free.

A special island will also open and be based on the HoYoVerse game.

With the exception of Bangboo, all three belong to the Angels of Delusion faction, which has an idol group-like theme. HoYoVerse revealed them in the TGA 2025 trailer back in December 2025. Goods that you'll be able to get at the GiGO store include acrylic stands, tapestries, and keychains. Some of the merchandise, like the acrylic keychains, also features chibified versions of the characters.

In the same announcement, Sakurai also noted how he still could feel the late cat snuggling against his feet. The scar on the hand that resulted from a bite a long time ago is also still present when Sakurai wrote the tweet.

The original Mewgenics teaser trailer, which featured that whole catchy theme song about rubbing cats on cats came out 13 years ago in August 2013. 13 years! Frankly, I wondered if it'd be vaporware after that time spent in development hell, even though Edmund McMillen confirmed in 2020 that wheels were in motion. It took time, but Mewgenics is here now and it's a strategic roguelike gem that I love more than The Binding of Isaac. The final game is so satisfying, and I genuinely think the development team isn't exaggerating when they say its campaign could last over 200 hours.
Mewgenics' concept is rather simple. You take cats and send them off on grand journeys to different areas where they'll face all sorts of foes, grow as individuals, and bring back food, equipment, and cash. When they return home, you take the survivors and bring them inside to breed new cats, hopefully passing on helpful mutations and abilities. Or, maybe you send them off to terrible people to do things like upgrade shop stocks, gain bigger houses or storage spaces, or gain access to other perks. As you get stronger generations via encouraging breeding with certain characters, you advance through acts that offer more challenges and fresh horrors.
Like The Binding of Isaac, Mewgenics features a similar sort of tone, and the sense of humor also feels like what you'd expect from past McMillen games. It can get dark! It'll border on (or go past) what you might consider offensive. (For example, an abused child is one of the shopkeepers you'll meet not long after the first act begins.) Enemies will be grotesque, and we'll see foes that are things like fetuses. I feel like if you're familiar with the developer's work, you sort of know what to expect. I will say that sometimes it did surprise me in positive ways, such as when I got my first nonbinary cat CoryBob. (They'll feature a question mark instead of the traditional gender marker.) For the sake of accessibility, there is an option to turn off explicit kitten-making, in case that makes you uncomfortable. But know going in that this title goes places.
While the humor will be hit or miss from person to person, I feel like everyone will appreciate and adore the Mewgenics gameplay loop. You start at your home. Each cat can go on a run once, and you can send out a group of four at a time. (Note that while in the midst of an adventure that number could go lower or even higher depending on if you pick up minor minions, strays, and certain abilities.) Once you select four cats you'll send out, you choose which tags, which represent traditional types of RPG classes, they'll wear. This will alter their starting stats, passive skill, and shift their default attack.
Once you're in a run, you'll move along nodes on a map in a neighborhood, with an option to shift to a harder path in each area for greater challenges and rewards. Each road involves opportunities to experience some random event that likely will be affected by one of your cat's stats, a chance to get a piece of equipment or item, and shop ahead of enemy encounters, a mid-boss fight, and a boss. Once you hit the end of an area, you'll get an option to return home and end the run or continue onward. However, if you wipe out, then you'll only be able to either choose to save the food or money you collected on that journey up until your group's demise.
When you enter an enemy or boss square, you'll find your team on a square map grid facing off against the foes that make that region their home. Turn order will be represented in the upper right corner. Each of your allies can use a basic attack once (unless there's a skill that allows you to do so more than once) and move once, and the amount of MP might allow you to also use a skill or two. There's no undo, so make sure you're certain when you take action. Each round involves everyone going once. Exhaustion sets in if you stretch things out, which negative affects cats' performances. Classes like mages, rangers, and thieves will be your ranged units, with mages being your means of getting AOE attacks. Melee ones include ones like fighters and clerics, with the latter being the way you heal in fights without using restorative items. If your characters fall in a fight, the corpse will reflect how many additional hits it could take until it would be gone forever. As long as it doesn't go below that number, it will revive and return for the next fight.
There are so many things about combat that Mewgenics gets right and makes the roguelike strategy game feel satisfying. For example, a ranger character can get active abilities that summon things like Tom Toms or deploy charm traps, and a passive could provide boosts to those summons. A cleric's passive could provide improved healing when you heal an ally or add a regen effect that also affects allies. A mage could see specific elemental boosts, encouraging you to focus on acquiring spells for that type. These can encourage you to prioritize certain skill acquisitions or actions as you play, perhaps allowing you to go further with a party because of the moveset bonuses.
The boss fights in Mewgenics are often awesome as well, and the fact that you can sometimes plan for the mid-bosses or final boss in an area due to knowing who might be the opponents is helpful. One boss in the initial act one alleyways area involves a rat tossing bombs. As long as you take out those bombs before they all explode, you can face the fight barely taking any damage, but that means making sure you're mobile and have foes with ranged attacks. One sewer major opponent involves a slime that divides up into smaller and smaller slimes as you beat its forms, so makes with AOE attacks or rangers that laid traps can be handy. The downside is once you get into the second act, there can be some really challenging foes, and some of the later bosses could wipe a whole unprepared party. By that point you'll hopefully have stockpiled and a wide range of cats waiting at home so you can rebuild, but it can really test you.
However, there are also a few things that keep Mewgenics from feeling perfect. The in-battle map is one. There are many situations where it can be difficult to see where enemies, items you can pick up, or hazards may be due to positions of other stage elements. Since we can't rotate or jump to an overhead perspective, it becomes impossible to see. I hate it. Field of vision is also an issue, with some characters like mages being unable to see two spaces in front of them if a fallen corpse is in between them and their new target. Which feels problematic when that opponent is downed or perhaps even quite tiny. Likewise, size can make managing cats in the field or at home a bit troublesome.
Once you decide to end a run either by choice or falling in a fight, you return home and can make fresh decisions based on the spoils of war. You can choose which newly acquired equipment you can keep for future runs. Items will get worn after use, so it isn't like you can keep some things forever. Food will be added to reserves, determining how many days you can go without heading out on a run again. (Each cat needs one food per day.) The stores will restock, giving you a chance to buy things like more food, tags, and furniture to make your home more comfortable and conducive to cat-breeding. Most importantly, you can choose to donate cats and kittens you don't want or need to the various people around town in the name of larger homes, more storage, more shop stock, and other bonuses that will help you make more progress or perform better, with each of those NPCs having certain types of animals they want. And, once you make your preparations and have a fresh party of four who would be ready for a new run, you head back out again.
And, well, you'll be doing that a lot. Mewgenics ended up being a massive game. There are a lot of classes to eventually unlock. There are more enemy types than I expected, each with optimal ways of managing them. Stage hazards appear, and accounting for certain types of terrain and effects can aid in survival. Loads of equipment comes up, as well as quest items that it's also quite possible to lose if a run fails. (I hate when that happens.) Plenty of different events can come up at question mark squares. You can find a lot of different pieces of furniture to adjust the stats of your home to make it more conducive to cat breeding or certain behaviors. There's always a good reason to go on another run. Especially since you need to diversify to pick up more beneficial mutations and discourage inbreeding so you don't pick up negative traits for a family line.
In the time I've spent playing Mewgenics, it's consumed my free time. I'll think about which cats I want to breed and what kinds of party combinations I'd like to try. I consider how I'll approach new minibosses and bosses I've encountered. I'll think about how to deal with certain events or which unlocks I should prioritize. It's the sort of strategic roguelike that encourages fresh approaches and experimentation, and the wealth of opportunities means every run can feel like a new story.
Mewgenics will appear on PCs on February 10, 2026.

Nioh 3 is now out globally on PC and consoles, and there are plenty of quests to complete.
At the centre lies the main campaign with a beautiful story. The main campaign will serve you plenty of challenging enemies to take down as you reach towards the climax. However, there are plenty of side quests to complete along the way.
This guide will provide you with every quest that we have discovered in Nioh 3 so far.
Table of contents
All main quests in Nioh 3
The main campaign of Nioh 3 is divided into seven Acts. All but the first one are directly attached to Japanese historical eras.
Prologue
Act 1: Warring States (1572 CE)
Act 2: Heian (1190 CE)
Act 3: Antiquity (247 CE)
Act 4: Return to Edo (1622 CE)
Act 5: Bakumatsu (1864 CE)
Act 6: Final Battle of Edo (1622 CE)
All side quests in Nioh 3
Side quests are optional campaigns that you can complete to gain extra rewards and character levels. Completing side quests is pretty necessary since leveling up makes it easier to complete the main campaign.
Act 1: Warring States (1572 CE)
Act 2: Heian (1190 CE)
Act 5: Bakumatsu (1864 CE)
There are no side quests in certain Acts. Additionally, you can also try out the Battle Scroll System for a few missions that can be activated from the shrine.

I'm spending a lot of time waiting for some big 2026 games lately, and that means I'm browsing social media and checking out discussions just like the rest of you.
The wait for Marvel's Wolverine has been a long one already, but with its release window targeting this fall, we've still got a long way to go. And as such, gamers are looking for any smidgen of a clue as to when we might learn more about the violent mutant's adventures.
Yesterday, however, Insomniac Games spurred on a conversation itself. I'm not sure whether it was intentional or not, either. But, it involves a social media post and one very key word in it.
"'Claws'? What's that, some kind of fancy lawyer lingo?" the studio teased along with an innocuous gif of Logan looking menacing. And when it comes to the word "lawyer" in Marvel, it will always bring people to think about the Man Without Fear, Matt Murdock, AKA Daredevil (and She-Hulk, too).
Naturally, eager Marvel fans are taking this random Thursday post as some sort of teaser that Daredevil will appear in the game. And it's certainly possible, because Wolverine takes place in the same Insomniac universe as its Spider-Man games, and you can find Matt Murdock's law office within Manhattan if you choose to seek it out.
But do I buy this theory just yet? No. It is a pretty random caption on a very random social media post, and maybe it was posted to drum up discussion and get people excited. If Daredevil is to be in the game, though, why would they spoil it in something like this? But also, in what world is "claws" lawyer lingo?
I think it's entirely possible that the next PlayStation State of Play (rumored to take place next week) could feature Marvel's Wolverine. Having Murdock cameo in the trailer, along with some other surprise faces, could drive up the hype even more. I suppose we could know more soon enough, but I think this may be a case of people being excited for anything to look forward to out of the next PS5 Marvel adventure.
The most recent trailer for Marvel's Wolverine featured some familiar faces for X-Men fans, like Mystique and Omega Red, along with Sentinels. Could Daredevil be joining them out of Hell's Kitchen somehow? If he does, I don't even want to know about it until I can play the game later this year.
Either way, I'm excited to see what Insomniac has cooked up in the near future.

Coin doesn't spawn in abundance, but there are other ways to get your money up in YAPYAP so you can buy and experiment with wands in no time.
Here's everything you need to know about your stash in YAPYAP.
How to stash items in YAPYAP
Unlike Lethal Company and R.E.P.O. that restricts you to a three-slot inventory, YAPYAP offers a way to move items into your stash. The only downside is you cannot get these back until you extract. Outside of Coins and Wands, anything you pick up can be placed directly into the stash, where it vanishes and teleports back to the home base.
You must first pick the item up as if you're going to equip it, leave it in your right hand, and move it into the stash from here (refer to the button display at the bottom-right corner of the screen for controller and keyboard layout). Your inventory should consists of Wands you can switch to and cast spells during puzzles, to ward off monsters, or help cause chaos to fulfil contracts. You can also carry potions that spawn inside the cauldron room (usually for healing), or carry ingredients you've found to then drop inside the cauldron and brew your own potion. Ingredients can be used without brewing, but there are rarer items to find and sell them on for some Coin.
YAPYAP stash location
Instead of bringing items back by hand like Lethal Company, or seeing them spawn inside the R.E.P.O. truck if you lost them mid-round; your YAPYAP stash collects in the wizard hut at the home base. Every time you move something into the stash it moves directly in the bottom level of the hut. Take the stairwell directly below the Ponder Orb to find your stash that spawns at the center of this room.
What is the stash for?
You can them pick up three of these items to fill your inventory and bring them to the merchant that speaks like the Fire Keeper in Dark Souls 3 and acts like any ordinary RPG merchant. While she looks like a boss fight waiting to happen, this NPC offers the only way to buy and sell items. Equip whatever item you wish to sell and interact with her to sell the item from your stash for Coin.

There are quite a few dangerous bosses wandering around the island in Fortnite. Each one has unique loot you can earn, with Human Bill possessing some of the best items you can get your hands on.
Since all bosses have very powerful items you can earn for besting them in battle, tracking them down can be rather tricky. Whether you want to fight him to claim his loot or need to take him out for a quest, here's where to find Human Bill in Fortnite.
Table of contents
Where to find Human Bill in Fortnite
Unfortunately, Human Bill doesn't have one fixed spawn location in Fortnite. Instead, he randomly rotates between different spots in all matches. There are a limited number of locations where bosses can spawn around the island, but there's no way to know exactly where any boss will appear in each round.
While some key elements are marked on the map to help you pinpoint their locations, like hot air balloons and balloon stations, boss locations are not viewable on the overall map. Once you're within a certain radius of one, they'll be marked with a skull wearing a crown icon, but you have to be decently close for it to appear, which means it can't really be used to help you find them.
Human Bill location in Fortnite
Here are all of the locations where we've run into the Human Bill boss while playing Fortnite. There may be some additional spawn locations for him, so if we uncover any other ones in the future, we'll add them here. For now, though, these are the best spots to check for him.
Overall, I've run into Human Bill most frequently at Latte Landing, Humble Hills, and east of Sus Studios. At Latte Landing, he stands around the open middle area right in the center. At Humble Hills, he can either be found relaxing near the large pool or up on the hill nearby, close to the Battlewood sign. East of Sus Studios, he can be found in the parking lot right in front of a restaurant. This experience varies for all players, though, since boss locations are completely random in every match, so you may have the best luck running into him elsewhere.
Another possible spawn location for Human Bill that we didn't list above is beneath Lethal Labs, as this one seems to be glitched and inaccessible. You may sometimes spot the boss Medallion icon while near this area, but there's no way to actually reach it or check which boss is there, so it could be Human Bill, or Bigfoot, or another boss entirely. Regardless, there's no way to interact with the boss at this spot until it's fixed, so it's not a spot that's worth checking.
Human Bill boss loot in Fortnite
If you manage to defeat Human Bill in battle, you get to claim his Mythic Arc-Lightning Gun and boss Medallion. His Medallion kit increases your stamina and vitality while also granting you the low gravity effect for a short time after it's been activated. He'll also drop some other random loot for you to grab, like gold bars, Shockwave Grenades, and some bonus weapons.
Emote near or as Human Bill in Fortnite
To complete the emote near or as Human Bill quest, you must either locate Human Bill and perform an emote close to him, or defeat and transform into Human Bill so you can then emote as him. When you eliminate a boss this season, you then take on their appearance, which means you can emote as Human Bill if you best him in combat.
It's generally best to beat Human Bill in battle, then emote as him for this quest. If you just try to emote near him without taking him out first, he'll likely attack you, as all bosses have an awareness bar that builds when you stand next to them. Once the question mark above their head is full, they'll attack you with everything they've got, so be very careful about standing around near them.
If you're not sure what to do after locating Human Bill, consider working on important tasks around the island next. Some good ones to focus on are hitting Bigfoot or Human Bill to tag them for Carina's favor, asking The Order how to free her from her cell, and spreading the newspapers about Kingston's new movie.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined has changed certain features from how they worked in the old title, and Vocations are easier to level up.
Different requirements for these Vocations vary with the character in question. Each character has a specific Vocation they begin with, which depends on their personalities. However, you can unlock more options on your adventures. You can also change the vocation of a specific character.
This guide will provide you with the complete information about all Vocation requirements in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined.
Table of contents
Complete list of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Vocation requirements
Every Vocation in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined has specific requirements. You can obtain them by completing the Alltrades Abbey content and then equipping them. Once you gain access to Moonlighting, you'll be able to change the Vocations outside of combat.
All Vocations have their own stat nerfs and buffs, along with special abilities. The ideal setup is to combine them in such a way that one negates the weakness of the other. It's also important to level up Vocations as efficiently as possible.
How to level up Vocations in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined
There are two main ways to gain Vocation Points.
You can go to the in-game settings and raise the Vocation Points you get from winning fights. You can raise it from just one to seven Vocation Points. This is mandatory if you're aiming to raise plenty of Vocation Points to level up the abilities faster. Another option is to defeat high-tier enemies, but the method is inefficient.
Instead, raise the Vocation Points you gain from winning fights, and start contests in a low-level town. That way, you get more points significantly quicker as you win every fight, and gain Vocation Points.
