pokemon tcg the best perfect order cards

Lumiose City, the setting of Pokemon Legends Z-A, is the focus of the latest Pokemon Trading Card Game set. We've seen a few new Megas recently, of course! But this expansion actually gets a lot more into the world and characters of Z-A. What, then, are the best Perfect Order cards? We'll get into that too!

The coolest Pokemon TCG Perfect Order cards

Mega Zygarde ex is the obvious centerpiece of the set, both in flash and substance. It's big, and the energy costs make it sort of unwieldy, but you'd probably feel pretty powerful if you got it up and going! Its three-energy attack deals 200 damage and makes it a bit more resistant to damage, and its five-energy attack flips a coin for each opponent and deals 150 to them on a heads.

It's also fun to see more Z-A characters. Jacinthe, Tarragon and Naveen get their own cards, and for a franchise (and, frankly, genre) that has often struggled with representation, we'll note that these characters getting a bit more time is welcome. You can also spend some time in the city and eat a galette!

The most interesting Perfect Order cards

This definitely falls into "interesting" because it feels way too unwieldy to be meta-relevant, but there's a combo in this set that feels great to pull off. Combining Vivillon and Decidueye ex — yeah, two stage twos — gets you a lot! You can use Vivillon's ability to shuffle your opponent's hand and have them draw to four cards, and then Decidueye's ability makes it ignore energy costs if the opponent has exactly four cards. Which means it gets a no-cost 240-damage attack that also discards an energy.

A new stall candidate joins the fray in the form of Turtonator. Its Shell Spikes ability makes an opponent discard an energy if it's damaged. Dewgong lets you move Water energy to your Active as much as you'd like, which could be handy with unpredictability or transferring energy from a beaten-up ally. This might be a fun combo with Lapras ex and its Hydro Turn attack, which does more damage with more energy and forces its own retreat at the end.

The most meta-relevant Pokemon TCG Perfect Order cards

Never before has this one been so clear! It's Meowth ex. Like Lumineon V and Tapu Lele GX before it, it's a utility play, with a Last-Ditch Catch ability that lets you search for a Supporter when you put it on your bench. And they seem to be setting up this sort of ability for the long haul! "Last-Ditch" is now a sort of keyword, limiting abilities like it to one per turn. This may stop some legendary one-turn wins, but also? The game could use some balancing, so we welcome the attempt.

In addition, we've got a few new Special Energy to use! Growing Grass Energy gives a Pokemon of the type an extra 20 HP. Rocky Fighting Energy prevents status effects from attacks. Telepathic Psychic Energy lets you search for Basics as a bonus when you attach it. These all seem like nice bonuses, and will probably make it into decks as long as they don't have abilities that need energy cards to be basic.

We'll also mention Aromatisse, with the ability to pull two Psychic energy from your deck every turn and accelerate strategies, and Barbaracle, which similarly accelerates by attaching an extra Fighting energy each turn.

look at that li'l shinx

The cutest Perfect Order cards

This set has a few good ones! Our favorite might be Shinx, with an upbeat thick-lined illustration from artist Saboteri. An earnest Clefairy and calmer Dedenne are close runners-up. Seel looks like it's having a good time, and we're endeared to Snorlax doing its best to fit in the frame.

The Illustration Rares also have a few standouts, like Rowlet and two alternative takes on those Dedenne and Clefairy. It's honestly nice that Perfect Order only clocks in at 88 normal cards and 124 total, after the whopper that was Ascended Heroes, but it does mean fewer of these full-art chase cards to admire.

The latest Pokemon Trading Card Game set, Mega Evolution: Perfect Order, will launch March 27, 2026. For more on the game, check out our Pokemon TCG archive.

One of the quests in Crimson Desert, aka Ben's Request, requires you to kill livestock, and it's not as simple as you might imagine. Unlike wild animals that you can simply attack with your weapons, livestock is treated as stolen goods, so the process to kill them will be different.

To begin the activity, there are several steps to complete, which start with finding the correct tool.

How to kill livestock in Crimson Desert

The process of slaughtering livestock begins with you stealing one. To do that, you'll need a Mask. You can buy the mask from a market vendor named Grimrak. You'll find the vendor near the lower cliffs, south of Hernand Church. Masks can also drop from defeated bandits.

While Grimrak will sell you the mask, there's another NPC named Edmond. He will buy stolen livestock from you.

Steal livestock

Once you've equipped the mask, approach a farm animal. Wait until the Steal prompt appears, and you can then pick up the animal. The moment you do this, a Theft alert meter will appear around you. Don't get spotted by an NPC, as this will put a bounty on you.

If any NPC does not spot you, the meter will disappear on its own.

Kill the livestock

Once the area is clear, drop the animal. However, you won't be able to get a kill option. Instead, use a bow and arrow to shoot at it. Once the animal is dead, you'll be able to get its meat and materials. You can also use a melee weapon to do the same task. The process is pretty much the same.

What do you get from killing livestock in Crimson Desert

Ben's Request in Crimson Desert

Killing livestock isn't necessary, as you can sell a stolen one in the Black Market. That will get you more money, but you can kill them to get meat. This will prevent you from having to buy any meat from the vendor, which is required to feed your pets. Additionally, meat is also required for its healing abilities when you've taken damage in combat.

If you're specifically looking to complete Ben's Request, you'll need to steal a sheep and then slaughter it. There's no alternative way to complete the quest, so keep that in mind.

Anaconda Corp team reveal art from Screamer, with a futuristic car parked alongside a battleship

Can't say I didn't roll my eyes reading the Steam page blurb for Screamer: "High-octane action and anime aesthetics collide in this arcade racing game, featuring fighting mechanics and a storyline that hits hard." But the name—boy, that rings a bell.

Even racing game enthusiasts might not appreciate just how long Milestone has been in the business. The Italian game developer's story goes all the way back to 1994, making it the same age as me. And now they are returning to their roots, at least as far as the franchise of choice is concerned.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wrw05Bxoa9A

We're both still going strong, Milestone and I. They are primarily known for the annual MotoGP releases these days, but they've kept themselves busy with an additional release or two each year alongside those. From the WRC franchise to branded arcade titles like 2021's Hot Wheels Unleashed and its 2023 sequel, they have an impressive portfolio. (I, meanwhile, continue to put out a steady stream of bemused snark, which is almost as good.)

Now, Milestone's oldest franchise is coming back to the fore with an interesting mix of old and new in the form of Screamer, an arcade racer with anime aesthetics and an unusual departure from their previous output. I will definitely be watching with interest, if only because the third entry in the series, 1997's Screamer Rally, is a core memory for me, as one of the very first games I ever played.

They say you never forget your first, but I can't quite recall which game kickstarted my love of the medium—I remember playing the original Prince of Persia, a forgotten puzzle game called Rings of the Magi, and Monolith's horror shooter Blood as some of the earliest games I launched via DOS prompts.

https://youtu.be/oNaXtGTiQUM?si=Q4fQBQMaS0f-ewq-&t=23

Screamer Rally was right alongside those firsts for me, and I actually picked it back up a few years ago for a lark because I could never beat it as a kid. Four leagues of successive difficulties, with extra tracks and faster AI layered atop the existing challenge, and a genuine rally-like control scheme that forced you to drift around corners somewhat precisely. This time, on the more stable side of thirty, I won fairly easily.

With multiple track surfaces, cars with different characteristics, and many options to tinker with your car before the race (hint: the Arizona desert handles very much like snow!), Screamer Rally makes for a pretty good outing for 1997.

As is often the case with old games, it's the soundtrack that stands the test of time best, with its fascinating mix of goa and acid trance inspirations making it a good "holy crap, a deadline is approaching, better lock in but without a knot in the stomach" playlist to put on.

Make no mistake, the new Screamer has nothing to do with the old one. But it brought back some nice memories by its mere existence, and for that, I'm thankful.

Unpackaged Trade Goods are something you'll come across occasionally in Crimson Desert, but the game doesn't explain what you can do with them. If you try to sell them to the ordinary traders, they will refuse to accept them. However, you'll have to dump these items if you want to keep your inventory light.

Thankfully, there are dedicated vendors that will help you deal with the Unpackaged Trade Goods.

All Unpackaged Trade Goods vendor locations in Crimson Desert

To dispose of Unpackaged Trade Goods, you'll need to sell them at Goldleaf Trading Posts. There, you'll find Black Market Traders who will accept the Unpackaged Trade Goods. So far, I have found them in Hernand and in Pailune. I have marked their locations so that you can find them easily.

Hernand

Once you're at these locations, you'll find small shops with gremlins as the vendors. You can sell the Unpackaged Trade Goods to them. I will upload more locations once I find them on the map. When you're exploring the lands, look for small red-colored tent icons on the minimap: these are the Goldlead Trading Post locations where you'll find the Black Market Traders.

How to sell Unpackaged Trade Goods at the Vendor

Interact with the vendor and open the Sell menu. Then, choose the item that you want to sell, and decide its quantity. Confirm the sale, and you'll receive money in return. This will also empty storage inventory spaces that were earlier occupied by the items.

You'll also need the point on the main storyline where you'll have to take out a corrupt Goldleaf merchant. This will allow you to trade the Unpackaged Trade Goods with the Black Market traders. This moment comes in Chapter 3 when you defeat Hornsplitter, and the following scene will introduce you to the first Goldleaf Trading Post.

The Spire of Insight in Crimson Desert.

Crimson Desert's Abyss is a mystical, elevated plane of existence that lies above the corporeal reality below. Though in the heavens, it is invisible to the naked eye, and only those gifted with its touch can ever reach it.

A lot of what you do in the Abyss is mandatory, but the game is also filled with optional Abyss puzzles and quests that let you unlock new fast travel spots and even abilities and skills. The place is usually accessed through various Spires, and the Spire of Insight is an especially puzzling one.

So if you are an avid explorer and came across this impressive building, here's how you can open it and solve the puzzles inside.

How to open and solve the Spire of Insight

Kliff placing a pebble in a bowl at the Spire of Insight in Crimson Desert.
Screenshot by Destructoid

The first time you come across the Spire of Insight, you will notice that it is absolutely covered in thick, thorny roots that block any and all access to it. To clear them, all you need to do is fire up your Blinding Light ability and focus the light onto the brambles, burning them to ash.

Once the roots are gone, you will then be given your first puzzle: unlocking the Spire's door. To do it, pick up one of the pebbles lying on the ground and place it in the bowl sticking out from the door. Doing so will open them and grant you access to the library within.

There are three levels you need to climb to reach the Abyss gate at the top, and each of them requires you to place items in the bowls. The necessary items are drawn on the massive book in front of the bowls, and if you don't want to go out looking for them yourself, here's what you need to do for each level.

- Solution beyond this point -

The first bowl asks you to place a gravestone in it. You can find it immediately to the right of the bowl and book, on a desk beneath the bookshelves.

The second bowl requires a telescope and an ink and quill. Both are located behind you, the first being left on a desk and the other being to the right, through a door in the wall leading into a study. The ink and quill are on the study desk beneath the window.

The third bowl asks you for a sundial, a celestial, and a small map rotator. The first and the last are found on the bookshelves, while the celestial sits on the floor between a couple of bookshelves to the right of the bowl. Next to the celestial, you'll also find an alchemy recipe for gold bars, which are a fantastic source of income.

After the third bowl is filled up, the elevator will take you to the top, where an Abyss Gate grants you access to several connected Abyss puzzles and, therefore, several potential Abyss Artifacts that you need to level up and upgrade skills and abilities.

Kliff watching the lake

Abyss Artifacts allow you to improve the skills of all playable characters in Crimson Desert, but they come in limited amounts. However, the current build seems to have a glitch that allows you to collect as many Abyss Artifacts as required.

While the process is grindy and requires a bit of time (circa five minutes for one), it can be a great way to power up your characters early in the game. While I am unsure when this method will get patched out, it still works as of writing.

Crimson Desert Abyss Artifacts exploit explained

To exploit this glitch, you'll need to be in Chapter 3 and on the The Face Behind the Mask questline. You'll find the Seed of Unease subquest at this step. If you're past this point, there's sadly no other alternative. You gain an Abyss Artifact when you gain experience points. Whenever the experience meter (shown in the bottom left of the screen) fills up, you gain an Abyss Artifact.

Seed of Unease quest in Crimson Desert
Image via Pearl Abyss

You have to track the Reed Devil during the Seed of Unease subquest. On the way, you'll find different totems. When you reach the first one, there will be a few minions along with the Reed Devil. First, defeat the minions, and reduce one-third of the Reed Devil's health to make him retreat.

If you want to complete the objective, you'll need to track the Reed Devil. However, don't do that. Instead, go below the first totem, and you'll find two more totems. When you go near these totems, they will rotate and spawn more minions.

You can keep repeating this process as many times as you want to farm experience points. This will also keep filling up the experience meter, and you'll keep getting more Abyss Artifact.

So if you're yet to reach Chapter 3, be prepared to use this method to get yourself some advanced skill upgrades that otherwise should be available only after you clear the latter chapters.
