Oh Costco sheet cake, you bake me so happy.
At $100 USD, in my humble opinion it'd be a bargain considering it's:
- homemade fresh with top-quality ingredients
- big enough for almost 100 people to get their nibbles on
- got a similar taste to high-end, gourmet cakes from fancy-pants bakeries
- WAY BETTER than the large, dry and unappetizing cakes other grocery store big
box bakers price at an absurd 50 bucks.
Those bonkers bakers at my favorite wholesale foods store charge less than half
the expected price for this decadent baked good: just $39 as of writing (and yes
like everything, that price has increased in recent years).
Still, it's an excellent value purchase whom most who try the product agree is
a no-brainer for such a sweet, rich, moist, soft and spongy cake topped with
smooth, creamy, buttery whipped frosting so good even frosting snobs think is
tasty!
RANDOM ASIDE: Costco's smaller and best-selling "half-sheet cake" cakes
measure in at 12″ x 16″ and feed 48 guests each a 2"x2" square with a
cost of $24.99.
Hell, I've been known to arrive at a party, see there's something seriously
missing, and leave to "dessert" the host: buying one of these sugary babies
at Costco before returning to the party with my giant conversation piece of cake
boxed gift. You better believe I'm opening that gift for the party boy/girl:
an easy win-win and history in the baking, the stories we'll tell about that
party!
Slice, slice, baby.
The vanilla cake is popular: think vanilla buttercream frosting and cheesecake
mousse filling. Sometimes it'll have whipped cream icing.
And the intense chocolate experience of the chocolate cake with chocolate
frosting and chocolate mousse filling is also well liked.
But if you can just get one flavor, IMHO the Costco standard chocolate sheet
cake changed to have the cream cheese icing is the way to go.
You won't often find it in the "take it home with you today" options pre-made
at the bakery. But if you see it, buy it.. Trust me on this. If that cake rose
up and said, "You want a piece of me, cake eater?" I wouldn't be
surprised-- because the combo of flavors is almost enough to cause first-time
eaters to hallucinate.
Not long ago I walked into the Costco bakery and asked if there were any
pre-made "blank" cakes with chocolate cake topped with the cream cheese
icing.
The gentleman said no, that wasn't one of the standard cakes they make and
keep fresh in the store every day-- but there were some custom-ordered cakes of
that kind in the back that hadn't been picked up from the day before.
'What do you want the cake to say?' he asked.
- "Congratulations"?
- "Happy birthday"?
- "Happy anniversary"?
'Really, you don't understand,' I told him.
'I'm here for the best cake in 3 counties.
I don't care what it says written in the frosting.
It could say "Thanks for picking up the dogshit from my lawn, neighbor"
And I'm still walking out with it if it's my favorite flavor.
I'm buying this just for me.
There's no special occasion'.
Of course, if you buy a Costco sheet cake in advance you can mix and match
vanilla with chocolate, cream cheese icing or whipped cream icing or buttercream
frosting. This and that. Half and half. Whatever. Just drop your written order
request in their cake box and it'll be done.
But if you just show up with a hankering for sheet cake, the good folks at your
local Costco probably won't have exactly what you want for a cake to buy and
take away right now. Or they may have the flavor you want but it's got a
random message written on it that has nothing to do with you or your real or
imagined party occasion: "Happy retirement " sounds good,
don't it?
They'll have what they have and you can cake it or leave it (so to speak).

What is a contract manufacturer?
While we have an inventory of tens of millions of loose cubic zirconia stones,
we don't stock many ready-made finished jewelry items we can readily pack and
ship for customers that want something tomorrow. Just not our business model.
Instead, we manufacture each piece of finished jewelry (ring, wedding set, band,
earrings, pendant etc) as they are ordered, from scratch, and according to the
customer's specification (ie: carat size and stone shape dimensions, finger
ring size, earring backing etc). This is called "contract manufacturing".
This may seem like a bad thing, but believe it or not, it's for your benefit.
You actually save money buying made-to-order contract-manufactured finished
jewelry from our company, as opposed to ordering something that is "in stock" to
be shipped out to you the same week or day. That's because, unlike many online
sellers,, we have minimal inventory carrying costs-- and have relatively smaller
business overhead costs overall compared to most jewelry companies.
What we save as a result of doing business this way, we pass on to our customer.
Sure, our manufacturing time may be a couple of weeks or three (see the product
details page for the piece you're interested in for exact estimates), but the
quality and savings are worth the wait, don't you agree?
We know, though, that sometimes a customer won't want to wait.
Just like sometimes I want cake in my belly today and not tomorrow...
When it comes to earrings, we know that sometimes you want to buy today and get
