Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, March 27, 2026 3:55 PM One of the biggest upgrades you can make to a PC setup in my eyes is to switch to an OLED monitor for a much sharper viewing experience. A lot of it is down to the deeper blacks, stronger contrast and excellent colours you can get from modern panels. It is more of a premium upgrade if you've got the cash and the PC needed to drive a high-res and high refresh rate screen, but definitely worth it as someone who made the switch to a 32-inch 4K 240Hz option just like this Samsung Odyssey OLED G8. This screen is down to $849 from Amazon USA in the Spring Sale, marking out a hefty $450 discount on its previous high price - it has been closer to $900 and this exact price in more recent weeks, though. |

Good Smile Company and Square Enix shared release windows for both the Final Fantasy Warrior of Light and Chocobo Nendoroids, with both figures appearing at about the same time. The Chocobo will be in Japan in August 2026 and cost ¥6,500. It'll be $40.99 when it launches in Q1 2027 worldwide. The Warrior of Light shows up in September 2026 in Japan for ¥7,900, and it'll be $48.99 when it appears in North America in Q1 2027. Both have Good Smile Company-exclusive pre-order bonuses if you go through the official storefront.
Compared to other Good Smile Company Nendoroids, the Warrior of Light doesn't come with two many extra features. He has two face plates. One expression looks neutral ,with him looking straight at the viewer, and the other is almost identical to that, but he's looking to his right. He also comes with a sword. If you buy from the company, you get a stand that has the game's logo on it.
Here's how the Warrior of Light Final Fantasy figure looks.
Likewise, the Chocobo doesn't come with many extras. You get two types of eyes you can swap into the face plate. One is a standard pair, and the other looks shocked. If you buy direct through the company, you get a third pair of sad eyes. (The mouth on the face plate can also open for additional posing options.) The character doesn't come with an item like Gysahl Greens, but there is an extra leg part to make it look like the bird is kicking.
You can see the Chocobo Final Fantasy figure below.
As a reminder, Final Fantasy XIV Nendoroids are also planned.
The pre-orders for the Final Fantasy Warrior of Light and Chocobo Nendoroids are open until 2026, with both figures expected worldwide in Q1 2027 ahead of Japanese debuts in Summer 2026.

Koei Tecmo announced the Blue Reflection Quartet, which combines all four games in the series into one package, for the Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and PC. It'll be a digital release in regions other than Japan. Everyone will see it launch worldwide on July 30, 2026.
The trailer and announcement for this first appeared during the 9th anniversary stream for Blue Reflection. You can watch the archive on the official Koei Tecmo YouTube channel. While the trailer starts at around the 47:45 mark in the stream, you can also just watch the trailer video in English here:
This quartet contains the remastered versions of Blue Reflection and Blue Reflection: Second Light. The two new games in this compilation are Blue Reflection: Sun and Blue Reflection Ray. Blue Reflection: Sun is a console remake of the mobile game, and Blue Reflection Ray is a game adaptation of the anime series of the same name. This was a spin-off by J.C. Staff that aired in 2021.
Blue Reflection, published by Koei Tecmo and developed by Gust, first came out in 2017 for the PS4, PS Vita, and PC. They're RPG games that have a day cycle and turn-based combat. The story's split between the characters going through their usual school life and fighting against enemies in another world.
The Blue Reflection quartet compilation will come out on July 30, 2026 for the PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and Windows PC via Steam.

Crimson Desert is a single-player game but you don't have to enjoy your adventures alone. While you can complete all the quests and content on your own, you can do so with your beloved pet. Obtaining your animal companion takes a bit of time when you begin your adventures, and there are two choices to consider.
But first, let's find out how pets work in Crimson Desert.
Update: Added a table for all types of pets and their favorite food items (offers biggest boost to trust).
Table of contents
How pets work in Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert has a trust system that works between your character and animals. The trust mechanic begins at zero and goes up to 100. This system is universal for all pettable animals, which are two in the current version of the game.
The process of getting a pet varies slightly based on your choice.
When you pet a creature, you gain +5 trust. You can gain up to 25 trust with an animal companion in a single day from this method.
Pets are immensely helpful when they're active, as they help bring back the loot you get from defeated enemies. However, they will loot everything they can as there's no filter available in the current build of Crimson Desert. However, it's still beneficial to have them active; otherwise, you'll be spending a lot more time getting different loot.
All pets and their favorite foods in Crimson Desert
The table below has a list of all the pettable animals I have found, along with their favorite food items.
How to add more pets in Crimson Desert
The key to gaining a pet is to take your trust to 100. Once that's achieved, hold the selection button and press the Claim option. This will register the dog/cat as your pet. You can have up to 30 pets for your adventure, but only one can be active at any given moment.
How to use food to gain trust in Crimson Desert
While playing with cats/dogs helps to gain trust, there's a daily cap on that. A better way is to use food items. Feeding also helps to improve your trust with them, but there's a daily cap as well.
Food items have a cap of three per day. In simple words, you can feed a creature at most three times in a given day. If you max out the daily caps, you'll be able to gain a new pet every two days. The only exception to this is Fine Meat, which allows you to gain a new pet in a single day. However, you'll have to spend coins at a vendor to get the item.

Waterfalls are not just beautiful to look at in Crimson Desert, but some of them might even hide some secrets for you to unravel. To find the secrets, you'll need to enter the waterfall as long as there's a path behind the water.
Let's find out how you can detect the waterfalls that have hidden treasures behind them, and how you can explore them safely.
How to get behind waterfalls in Crimson Desert
When you stand close to a waterfall, you won't be able to find what's behind it. The water is extremely dense. If you try to head inside but there's no path, you'll fall and take damage. To find the correct waterfall, you'll have to find a small pillar in front of it.
If there's a pillar in front of the waterfall, it's almost certain that there's a cave inside to explore.
To perform a stab attack, you'll have to press the Shift button and the right mouse button. The same action is performed by pressing R1+Triangle/RB+Y on your PlayStation/Xbox controllers. You have to aim straight, and it's almost certain you'll take damage while trying to pass through the water.
Once you're inside a waterfall, explore every corner and try to look for Treasure Chests. These chests can be extremely rewarding, although what you get depends on your luck. However, I have found plenty of useful items on my adventures. Hence, always try to look carefully outside waterfalls to figure out if there's a cave to explore.

Wayfinder Studios, founded by gaming industry veterans from DICE, Embark, and other studios, is making its debut game called Wyldheart. Announced during today's PAX East, this indie title brings DnD to video games, allowing you and your friends to go out into all sorts of adventures, all at your own pace.
Last week I had the chance to play Wyldheart together with some of the devs from Wayfinder Studios, including former Star Wars Battlefront creative director Dennis Brännvall, who guided me through the game's first dank dungeon and later across its massive overworld and into the first town. It was a very unique experience, albeit one that heavily reminded me of Valheim both in style and presentation, even if the premise is altogether different than that survival-crafting title.
The game features an extensive character creator where you're allowed to pick out of a number of races and then stylize your character in fine details, allowing you to truly make a real person whose role you'll assume for the duration of the campaign. Speaking of which, you can play with up to four players and go through several campaign maps, each sporting hundreds of areas divided into hexes that you can explore and find interesting activities in.
The journey through the world is also just as exciting as engaging with the individual areas themselves, as there's lots of crafting, cooking, resting, and loads of other activities to do.
During a brief conversation with the development team, I was told the game is a "hybrid" of several genres but remains mostly a sandbox RPG with a huge world to be explored, seen, and experienced.
"I would put it as a cooperative Elder Scrolls meets your own private server World of Warcraft," said Dennis Brännvall, Wayfinder Studio founder and the creative director behind Wyldheart. "It's an online RPG, [that can be] played solo or by up to four players simultaneously," he added. "The campaign that you're hosting can hold up to twenty character slots, which means you can technically invite more than four players into your campaign."
Even though there's loads of progression in the game, Wyldheart also has plenty of "catch-up mechanics," as the devs put it, allowing players to jump in and out of campaigns, much like they would do in sessions of DnD.
"It's designed to appeal to PC co-op gamers who would love to play RPGs together but might struggle to find the time for the next 150-hour-long co-op RPG campaign... or maybe all signing up for an MMO, [as it's] also quite daunting to get up to speed on one of those," Brännvall explained.
"We think that Wyldheart sits nicely in that space [we] jokingly refer to as 'RPG friendslop,'" he said.
Wyldheart's hexagonal campaign maps really push you toward exploring on your own, but there are also structured narratives and quests that can help you choose a direction, since the game doesn't really hold your hand much either in the overworld or the areas themselves. A lot of what you do springs out of the world itself, as you'll encounter rumors or get hints towards greater stories that you yourself have to figure out.
In that way, Wayfinder Studios compares its title to board games, and I really think there's something quite unique and interesting to be found here.
Wyldheart will first launch into early access and plans to stay that way for less than a year, initially targeting a PC launch and then subsequently console releases as well.

Destructoid Friday, March 27, 2026 6:34 PM
Former DICE developers, including Star Wars Battlefront 2 creative director Dennis Brännvall, have revealed their new game, Wyldheart, which aims to capture the charm of tabletop DnD and bring its co-operative joy to the world of video games.
Announced today during PAX East, Wyldheart is a co-op fantasy game where up to four players can embark on various journeys together, tackling different campaigns in a free, sandbox environment. Though players can expect a main story that can be completed solo or with friends, you're actually given a load of agency, with each campaign map having around 200 hexes (areas) that can be traveled to at your leisure, including dank crypts, bustling towns, horrifying forests, and everything in between.
The game features numerous fantasy races and character backgrounds, allowing you to craft the character you want to be down to the minutest of details. And even though these backgrounds can help inform your roleplaying, you're actually free to take that character in any direction you like, taking the background as merely a starting point for your own adventure.
Featuring both quests and sandbox environments, Wyldheart aims to let you take control of the narrative and never really holds your hand through the story. A key system enabling this, and which the developers compared to classic World of Warcraft, is the rumor system, letting you eavesdrop on conversations and find clues hinting toward greater adventures. You can then go explore them, save them for later, or just venture out into the world, hoping the adventures will come to you.
While adventuring, there are loads of survival mechanics, fights, and side activities you can engage in, as the devs smash together numerous genres to produce a very unique, interesting experience that rewards an inquisitive mind.
Since up to 20 characters can be played on a single save, you can go beyond just four players, though the four-player party size remains the maximum number at the moment. Not that this can't or will not change down the line.
Wyldheart is being crowdfunded on Kickstarter, so if you're interested in this strange and intriguing concept, you can help the devs make it as good as they can.

Mechanical mounts are one of several traveling options you can find in Crimson Desert, and there are three options available to choose from. These are mechanical exosuits that provide you with protection and combat ability when you travel in them.
If you're tired of riding horses and dragons, let's find out how to gain all the available mechanical mounts.
Table of contents
How to get all the mechanical mounts in Crimson Desert
The unlock condition for the mechanical mounts varies based on the model. There are three of them to be found/made.
Scout Automation
The Scout Automation is extremely useful for those who want to focus on exploration. It doesn't offer much combat potential like the two other models, but mobility won't be a problem. You can craft it after finding its blueprint.
To find the blueprint, you'll need to check a treasure chest inside Marni's Laboratorium Complex to the north of Sanctum of Devotion. Once you obtain the blueprint, head to the Delesyia Workshop. You'll be able to then craft the mount (pending that you have all the required resources).
Golden Star Mech
The Golden Star Mech is arguably the hardest mount to find. It's perfectly suited for those who want to pick something that helps them in combat. To obtain it, you'll need to defeat the Golden Star Mechanical Dragon boss. You'll find the boss in the Delesyia region near the Palace of Urdavah. This content is part of the Chapter 11 quest chain (Foreboding Shadow).
Once the boss is defeated, it will drop a component (key). You can use the key to unlock and pilot the Golden Star Mech. However, the unlock option didn't appear on my end (could just be a bug that might get solved in future updates). You'll face off against this mech in the boss fight.
A.T.A.G
The A.T.A.G is the tank of all mounts, and it offers good combat power along with defensive capabilities at the same time. While you can get it temporarily during Chapter 10, this method is about unlocking it permanently.
Once you reach Chapter 11, you'll be able to craft it permanently. First, accept the New Designs faction quest. Speak with artisan Marek at the Zargan Tankworks in Gorthak Territory to obtain the Small Kuku A.T.A.G. Design. Once you get the Kuku design, you'll get the full blueprint of the A.T.A.G.

GTA 6 is permanently mere months away, but that's ok. There are many games to try out in the meantime, and one of them is GTA 5, or at least a side of it that you don't know of yet. Here are the best GTA 5 mods in 2026.
Table of contents
Map Editor
The GTA 5 map editor is considerably old, but it remains one of the most fun mods ever made for the game due to all the liberty its sandbox bestows upon players.
Map Editor doesn't allow players to remove pre-existing roads or buildings to reshape the city as they see fit, so this isn't exactly SimCity or Cities: Skylines, but the Map Editor mod allows players to add a wide range of existing structures to the city. Like, say, create a skate park atop a tall building, which is likely the coolest thing imaginable. Players will also be able to populate their areas with NPCs of their choosing, which allows them to play out any skirmish that they can come up with.
Liberty City in GTA 5
Nostalgia is a big driver for gamers, and though it's just one mainline entry away, most players haven't visited GTA 4's Liberty City in over 20 years. The Liberty City V remix fixes that by creating a very useful connection between Liberty City and Los Santos, one that allows players to visit the old area for what'll likely be an incredibly nostalgic little drive, walk, or drive-by.
Enable all interiors
Even though GTA 5 lets players enjoy one of the richest and largest play areas in AAA games set in the modern world, it can feel a bit empty because most buildings in the game are inaccessible.
Whereas the enable all interiors mod still doesn't allow players to enter every building, it works for most of them, and it even allows players to customize a lot of said inner areas. If you're looking for a mod that expands your GTA 5 experience inward, look no further.
King Kong mod
One of the coolest ways to play GTA back in the old days was just to insert one (or many) cheat codes and go on an absolute rampage. That was cool, but none of these games ever filled the wish many players had of becoming a Kaiju-level threat to Los Santos. The King Kong script mod fixes that, and then some. Players get to become a big beast, and they also get Kong's signature abilities, climbing buildings, throwing vehicles, and pounding the ground to create mini earthquakes. Ok, that last one probably isn't in any of the movies, but it's a damn great addition.
Mission Creator
You can only play so much GTA until you decide you want to create your own GTA. Especially after GTA 5, a game that gives players a taste of what it would be to plan an elaborate heist, players will naturally want more, and the Mission Creator mod allows them to create their own elaborate heists, or basically any other fun scenario.
Super punch mod
GTA 5 is arguably the best game of the franchise, but it doesn't have all the features that made the previous titles amazing. For one, it doesn't feature super strength abilities that you could get in the previous games via special missions or cheats. The super punch mod fixes that and brings back the ability to One Punch Man their way out of most situations by landing punches that have enemies flying hundreds of feet away to their deaths. This is one of the most satisfying mods out there.
Visual V
Maybe it's the nostalgia speaking, but I still think of GTA 5 as an incredibly gorgeous game. That's not everyone's opinion, though, and I get it. Those who think V already needs a bit of a facelift should look no further than Visual V, the most complex visual overhaul mod for the game, which features new weather effects, clouds, volumetric fog effects, better draw distance lighting, improved lens flares, chromatic aberration removal, and many other small fixes.
GTA 5 goes Just Cause
Ever since its release, GTA 5 has been inspiring many other games of its kind. While none have achieved anywhere near its level of success, some have come up with mechanics that should totally be in GTA games, like the Just Cause series, with its amazing aerial mechanics. The Parachute Thrusters mod does a great job of emulating that, and allows GTA 5 players to get a lot more fun out of aerial gameplay than they'd have even with GTA's classic jetpack.
Gangsta Rats
I wasn't joking when I talked about experiencing GTA 5 from entirely new angles. The Gangsta Rats mod took inspiration from Squirrel with a gun and has players see the world of GTA 5 through the eyes of a rat. Not a mob rat, mind you, but an actual rat with guns.
This one is probably not the most elaborate mod out there, but I guarantee you it's one of the most immediately hilarious mods you can encounter, as well as one of the best for players interested in creating fun non-AI-generated content for social media.

Though Valve has been pouring what seems to be the majority of its resources on developing Deadlock as the ultimate MOBA and hero shooter, it appears the game will also feature a PvE mode as part of its suite of alternative ways to play, a leaker has suggested.
According to Deadlock-oriented leaker Minesweeper, Valve's forthcoming multiplayer title will not force players to only play that same map and mode all the time and supposedly plans to provide numerous alternative game modes, much like other MOBAs and Valve's own games already do. One of these modes is allegedly going to be PvE, letting players defend against enemy waves, collecting money to open chests and gain items until they're powerful enough to do the "Shrine."
This is very reminiscent of Risk of Rain, where players are dropped onto a level loaded with enemies, with the objective of getting items from chests to activate the "Teleporter" that then spawns a boss, whom you have to beat to move onto the next stage.
Whether Deadlock's PvE mode will have several stages and maps is as of yet unknown, and Minesweeper says the mode itself won't be coming to the pre-release build of the game for "many months."
Another leaker, whom Minesweeper is quoting, said that this mode is "somehow connected to the game's lore" and "tied to skins." The former is easy to explain, but I cannot for the life of me understand what skins will have to do with this new PvE mode. A way to unlock unique skins for free? Could be, and it'd be a fun reward system for players who won't want to spend money on what will inevitably be added to the game.
Some time ago, I said that Deadlock should not remain purely a MOBA and that Valve's pouring way too many resources into developing the game's world and overarching narrative that it'd be a crying shame to let it be just a multiplayer shooter. Branching out into other media or providing singleplayer experiences would help Valve finally create its own League of Legends, and if this PvE mode ends up becoming reality, it'll be a great first step towards something beyond the scope of multiplayer battle arenas.
However, take all of this with a grain of salt. Deadlock is a developing game that gets overhauled every few months, so whatever may be in development at the moment could be scratched or fundamentally changed by the time it comes to the pre-release build, let alone the actual launch.
I'm excited to see the direction Valve will take Deadlock in, and hopefully it's one that's rich with content and things to do outside of its already stellar primary game mode.
