PCGamesN Tuesday, November 30, 2021 6:48 PM Dead Cells has been among the best efforts to combine the exploration of Metroidvanias with the replayability of roguelike games, and the developers have continued supporting it with a combination of free updates and paid DLC for years since its exit from Early Access. The devs aren't finished, either, as they've just detailed a new DLC pack and confirmed that another year of updates is coming. The Queen and the Sea is the next DLC pack for Dead Cells, and is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2022 at the usual price of $4.99 / £4.49 / €4.99. It'll bring a new ending to the game, concluding "the path started with The Bad Seed and Fatal Falls", and it'll feature two new biomes with the Infested Shipwreck and the Lighthouse, which will be in parallel to High Peak Castle and the Throne Room. The devs at Motion Twin say that the DLC will help fund their next project and continued Dead Cells updates. After the DLC launches, they'll be "releasing more free stuff! And we'll continue to do that for at least another year. There's already a good chunk of content planned and being worked on right now with some fresh ideas in play, so you shouldn't be getting bored with us anytime soon." |
PCGamesN Tuesday, November 30, 2021 6:01 PM Minecraft 1.18 is finally here, and that means it's time to start exploring some deep caves and figuring out where the diamonds are with the new ore distribution. Luckily, the devs have provided some helpful charts and videos to get you pointed in the right direction. Previously, most types of Minecraft ore would generate evenly regardless of the y coordinate, so if you were mining within a given ore's height range, you had an equal chance of finding it. Now most ore has a sort of 'triangular' distribution pattern, meaning that you're most likely to mine successfully toward the center of the height range. As an example, diamonds generate in that triangular pattern between y-144 and y16. Since the Minecraft world ends at y-64, you won't be able to reach those juicy diamonds spawning below the bedrock. That means, simply, that you'll find more diamonds the deeper you go, as the lowest levels get you closest to the centre of the distribution pattern. PCGamesN Tuesday, November 30, 2021 5:18 PM After one last delay, the Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker release date finally lands this week - at least for early access. We've got precise details on the timing for the launch of Endwalker and patch 6.0, as well as the maintenance that'll precede it. So if you're looking forward to the Endwalker release time, here's what you need to know. Maintenance for Endwalker begins on December 2 at 1am PST / 4am EST / 9am GMT, and servers will remain down for the next 24 hours. (Online services connected to FFXIV will also be down at various points during maintenance - look below for full details on those.) Servers will return and Endwalker will launch into early access on December 3 at 1am PST / 4am EST / 9am GMT. Early access is open to anyone who pre-ordered the expansion - you just have to register a code to get in. (Details on that process are on the official site.) If you want to wait for the official launch of Endwalker, that's scheduled for Tuesday, December 7. RELATED LINKS: FFXIV Shadowbringers review, FFXIV Gunbreaker job guide, FFXIV Dancer job guide |
PCGamesN Tuesday, November 30, 2021 5:03 PM It's time for another bug hunt: season two of Aliens: Fireteam Elite will begin in December, and the update will include a raft of free content for the sci-fi co-op game. All colonial marines will see free content in the form of a new game mode, new weapons, new challenge cards, and plenty more when the season kicks off December 14. Season two in Fireteam Elite is called Point Defence, which coincidentally is the name of the new game mode arriving with the update. Point defence is a variation on horde mode, where you and your team will have to defend three key locations during several waves of enemy attack. As these points take damage, you'll need to repair them as well, which means someone may have to be fixing things instead of shooting at any given moment as hissing hordes of xenomorphs descend on the area. As you play Point Defense, you'll earn fabrication points that can be used to buy consumables that temporarily buff you and your team. The mode also offers 20 rewards to unlock through playing it at different difficulty levels. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, November 30, 2021 6:18 PM Halo Infinite surprise-launched its multiplayer a couple of weeks ago. People seem to like it a lot, grindy and unrewarding battle pass aside. If you, like me, are more interested in the game for its singleplayer, then have a gander below for the launch trailer put together ahead of the campaign's December 8th release. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Tuesday, November 30, 2021 5:28 PM I don't much envy Bethesda. All game development seems like a bunfight with the impossible, but following in the footsteps of Skyrim is surely cursed. Starfield, the team's sci-fi open-world game, needs to be the same and different and better than Skyrim, a game that has been consistently popular for ten years. In the latest, teasing, behind-the-scenes Into The Starfield video, the development team discuss some of the values that remain the same between Starfield and Bethesda's other games. It maybe starts with the cups. |

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, November 30, 2021 7:15 PM When the original Alien film came out in 1979, few likely anticipated that it would spawn a massive, multimedia franchise. Regardless of whether or not Alien needed to have so many sequels and spinoff material, the franchise remains here to stay, and this includes the myriad video games based on the property. One of these games, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, already saw a release on August 24 of this year, but now it will arrive on Xbox Game Pass for PC as well. Subscribers can expect to play Aliens: Fireteam Elite on December 14, the same date that its Season 2: Point Defense update drops. For those who need a refresher on what Aliens: Fireteam Elite has to offer, it functions as a co-op, third-person shooter that sees a squad of marines fighting against waves of Xenomorphs. Players can team up and shoot "through four unique campaigns that introduce new storylines to the 'Alien' universe." As players do so, they can customize their characters by picking among six ... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Tuesday, November 30, 2021 6:30 PM Crawling to the Steam store later this December is Clid the Snail, a top-down shooter about the world's grumpiest, laziest, yet deadliest snail. The only way a snail could be dangerous is if you arm it with a gun, and that looks to be the case with Clid. Granted, it's sort of hard to tell that Clid is actually a snail. And it looks like Clid has two feet to stand on, rather than crawling on its belly like all the other snails. Still, I wouldn't want that gun pointed on me. You'll follow Clid, a humanoid snail, as he explores a dark fantasy world to exterminate the slug plague. An arsenal of badass weapons, combined with your abilities as a snail, and no slug or whatever can possibly stand in your way. You aren't the only bug-like creature who'll join you, however. Belu is a faithful and talkative firefly, and they'll accompany you on your journey as you move to eradicate the plague that's ravaging the land. Creepy crawly Clid th... |
