PCGamesN Saturday, January 22, 2022 10:05 AM If there's one thing the original Doom games aren't short on, it's fantastic mods that completely change the experience. New Doom mod Siren is a creepy new survival horror take in the style of System Shock, F.E.A.R., Prey, and Aliens - and there's a new demo to try out now. While id Software tried its hand at a Doom survival horror game with Doom 3 nearly 20 years ago, the more recent games like the fantastic Doom Eternal have put more emphasis on action over creepiness. This leaves room for modders to make their own horror takes on Doom, something they regularly deliver on. Siren is a new mod made by creator Dithered Output and has been in development for at least two years - and the latest 0.6 build is playable right now in a new demo. The modder says that they aimed to create "an experience closer to an Aliens game but with the variety and gameplay benefits the roster of Doom monsters brings". |
PCGamesN Saturday, January 22, 2022 7:57 AM It's been over ten years since the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and yet it seems like Bethesda still only has the eagerly awaited The Elder Scrolls VI in pre-production - and it might not start full production on the RPG sequel until Starfield is released later this year. While Skyrim continues to receive tons of awesome mods and even got a new Anniversary edition to celebrate the game's tenth anniversary, what fans really want is The Elder Scrolls VI - the next RPG in Bethesda's long-running open-world fantasy series, which hasn't even had its title or location revealed yet. Unfortunately, fans may have to prepare for an even longer wait, as it seems that Elder Scrolls VI is still only in pre-production at Bethesda Game Studios - a position it was already in when it was announced nearly four years ago. This is according to an employee's LinkedIn profile that was updated this month, which states that Bethesda is in "pre-production on the highly-anticipated The Elder Scrolls VI". PCGamesN Saturday, January 22, 2022 6:24 AM While there's still a little while to go before it kicks off, Halo Infinite Season 2 will apparently allow players to earn in-store Credits to spend as part of the Battle Pass - much like other major online multiplayer games with ongoing seasons, such as Fortnite. When Halo developer 343 Industries unveiled all the various rewards for the Season 1 Battle Pass for Halo Infinite, players were a little disappointed with what was on offer - including with the absence of any earnable Credits. 343 has been busy implementing changes to the Battle Pass, such as pushing towards progression-based XP - and more are coming soon, it seems. While Halo Infinite's Season 2 won't arrive until May - along with possibly the much-missed campaign co-op - head of design Jerry Hook has taken to Twitter to report that "thanks to your continued feedback, we are happy to confirm Credits will be earnable in Season 2's Battle Pass." So, anyone who gets the next Battle Pass will be able to earn Halo Credits "as part of your Halo Infinite progression" to spend in the game's store. Siliconera Saturday, January 22, 2022 8:00 AM Final Fantasy series creator Hironobu Sakaguchi is selling handmade items in FFXIV. Sakaguchi said that his new brand of merchandise will be sold under the "sakaGUCCI" brand. The first line of products, three Stuffed Chocobo in the Gridania market, sold for 50,000 Gil each. Sakaguchi also revealed that his character now has level 90 Weaving, and he is considering selling other crafted items directly to players. https://twitter.com/auuo/status/1484355312777711623 Hironobu Sakaguchi originally began playing the FFXIV last year. He has since been actively documenting his activities on his Twitter account. Sakaguchi explained that the Stuffed Chocobo are selling at a premium price because he is actually quite tight on money at the moment. Notably, as Sakaguchi crafted the items himself, the items appear to have his character's signature on them. As items will keep their signature on them even after trading, items crafted by the series creator could prove to be quite collectible. Sakaguchi has also sold a limited run of ten sakaGUCCI Winter Sweaters to prospective buyers. Sakaguchi decided to sell the items at the base material cost, plus any tips that the buyer wished to give. He asked buyers not to re-sell the items on the marketplace. He plans to also sell silver-colored Southern Seas shirts from 12 a.m. Japan Time on January 23, 2022. Final Fantasy XIV is immediately available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
