The world of King Arthur and the famous knights is one seldom explored in the gaming space, so to say I was excited to jump in would be an understatement. While the game does suffer from the leftover woes of Early Access, it's a fantastic entry into the tactical RPG genre.

Final Fantasy XIV recently introduced a new 5v5 player-vs-player mode called Crystalline Conflict. And while for the most part it seems to be going just fine, and folks are happy with it, the team behind the game aren't as happy with some people's behaviour in the mode, and so have taken the time to address the issues…

BAFTA nominees and winners talk about their incredible indie games

W.A.S.D is sadly behind us - for now - but if you've been watching this space in the past few days, you already know we're bringing all the talks from the event to you in digital form thanks to the preservational magic of YouTube. Today, that includes a chat with a group of developers behind some of the excellent games nominated for this year's BAFTA Games Awards.

Host Richard Scott-Jones, editor of PCGamesN, is joined by developers including producer Siim-Kosmos Sinamäe and voice director Jim Ashilevi from ZA/UM, the studio behind the excellent Disco Elysium, which got its 'The Final Cut' update in 2021, earning the narrative-heavy RPG an evolving game nomination at this year's BAFTAs.

The guests also include Daniel Mullins of the appropriately-named Daniel Mullins Games, the developer behind the mind-bending Pony Island, The Hex, and Inscryption. Inscryption proved a breakout hit in 2021, and won the BAFTA Games Award for game design.

Overwatch 2 gets record viewers after Twitch Drop beta keys

Overwatch 2 reached over 1.4 million concurrent Twitch viewers today as fans look for guaranteed access to the newly-launched test via Twitch Drop beta keys. That's around triple Overwatch's previous concurrent viewer record, and a pretty strong indicator of how much interest the new beta is garnering.

The Overwatch 2 beta went live on April 26, and as Dot Esports reported then, it quickly reached a concurrent viewer peak of 469,000, which was already above the previous record of 439,152 set back in 2018, early on in the Overwatch League. (Twitch's directory does not currently distinguish between Overwatch 1 and 2.) This record came before Blizzard even enabled Twitch Drops.

The Twitch Drop campaign kicked off today, April 27, and led to the new 1.4 million concurrent viewer record. Twitch Drops are still going until 6pm PDT / 9pm EDT / 2am BST - but if you're reading this, it's already too late to view the required four hours to receive beta access. Blizzard has announced that more keys will be distributed during the Overwatch League opening weekend broadcast starting May 5, and says more invitations may go out to players who've signed up via the official site later on in the test.

This Total Warhammer 3 mod lets you paint Daniel any colour

If you opt to lead Chaos Undivided in Total War: Warhammer III, you get to meet the daemon prince who is now lovingly known by the player community as Daniel. Unique amongst the strategy game series' legendary lords, Daniel is fully customisable - well, almost fully. While you can unlock new arms, legs, horns, tails, and other various bits and bobs for Daniel, you can't control his skin tone… until now, that is. Thanks to the power of mods, now you can paint Daniel any colour you like.

The Daniel Painter mod by Marthenil gives you a nice palette of daemonic colours to use on your prince of chaos. While the colour selection is fairly basic, it covers the standard range with several shades per colour. If you're feeling a bit Nurgly, you can go with a sickly yellow or bilious green hue, while the Khorne-likers will probably stick with the more classic daemon candyapple red.

You can pick both primary and secondary colours for your daemon prince, too: the primary colour works pretty much like a base coat, with the secondary colour acting like a wash on top, that fills in all the nooks and crannies in the prince's model.

Minecraft player makes a working car without mods

Minecraft is a sandbox game filled with many wonders. There are plenty of incredible things to stumble across that are native to the game, but many of the most impressive Minecraft builds come from people in the community. For example, you can use Command Blocks to unlock new levels of creativity by building cars or making a perfect circle.

Mysticat is one such person who accomplishes said feats of creativity. The Minecraft YouTuber mainly specialises in making the impossible possible using Command Blocks. This includes making circles in the game, something that sounds like it would be easy to anyone who hasn't played the game but is unfeasible otherwise. This time around though, they've created a working car.

Mysticat explains how to do this in the video (below), and while it's technically possible using Redstone, it's not as effective. If you've ever wondered about Command Blocks, this is a good video to watch. They go through how the car works, which command to use, and a few valuable nuggets of information regarding the whole process.

Minecraft update: snapshot 22w17a adds musical goat horns

It's Wednesday, and you know that means: it's time for Minecraft snapshot 22w17a to arrive, with a brand new item in the goat horn, which will give you a brand-new way to make some noise. The snapshot also adds even more to the Warden's strength, but it does give an incentive for doing battle with the monster.

As of this snapshot, goat horns will drop anywhere a goat rams a hard block like a tree, log, stone, packed ice, or ore. You can use the horn to play a loud sound that can be heard from a great distance, and each will play a different sound based on which goat it came from. There are a total of eight different horn variants, four of which you can only get from screaming goats.

You'll also find a more powerful Warden now, as the creature's ranged attack will now deal 30 damage (up from 10) and will bypass your shields and armour - and that attack now only has a two second cooldown, down from five seconds. You will, however, now get a single sculk catalyst if you take a Warden down.

How game development can be more sustainable

The first-ever W.A.S.D. lasted but a few all-too-short days, but the discussions by the speakers and panels at the event held lessons that are well worth preserving. That's why we're uploading all the talks from W.A.S.D. to our YouTube channel, including a presentation on sustainability in the games industry by Dr. Tomas Rawlings, studio director at Auroch Digital.

As Rawlings points out, climate change is an existential threat to human life as we know it, and while we all love a nice post-apocalyptic game like Fallout now and again, these aren't settings we'd actually like to live in 24/7. "When you think about post-apocalyptic, and let's prep for the apocalypse, the best way - by a long way - is not to have it," Rawlings says.

For players, Rawlings says it's important to get involved with sustainability focused events and support games with environmentally responsible studios and themes. Developers can invest in renewable resources and cut down on data-intensive processes. Everyone, he says, ought to work for change on the political level by supporting leaders who prioritise climate change policies and sustainability.

Elder Scrolls Arena Steam Daggerfall Wolfenstein Enemy Territory FeatAs Bethesda promised, its proprietary launcher is shutting down and the games found on it are making their way to Steam. The company has begun to migrate its Fallout 76 players over to Steam starting today. And as of yesterday, some of its best classic games have made the jump. Namely, two of the original games in The Elder Scrolls saga, Arena and Daggerfall, are available now on Steam, along with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. I would say that most fans of The Elder Scrolls likely didn't begin with Arena. The 1994 open-world RPG was released back when DOS ruled the PC gaming world. It's old enough that marketers thought the best way to attract a new fanbase was to show as much skin as possible on the box art. I don't believe that worked. The game was good enough to warrant many sequels, and it's hard not to find a person who hasn't played The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, either on PC, console, or a toaster.   Regardless, The Elder Scrolls: Arena and its s...

Aka Pc Steam FeatIn this hectic age, we can all use a chance to recline. Many games offer us the opportunity for a simpler life, cultivating farms and chatting with neighbors. Aka, coming to PC via Steam later this year, brings one such experience. However, it wouldn't be fair to say it merely apes popular chill games like Stardew Valley. There seems to be a bit more lurking beneath the surface. Also, you can take a nap on a gigantic capybara. That alone should grab your attention. If a game let's you sleep on t he back of a massive capybara, it's worthy of note in my book. Capybaras are famous for being on of the most chill animals on the planet. And in Aka, you can get some much-needed shuteye on one that's as big as a small house. That feature alone may catapult Aka into the annals of the most relaxing PC games on all of Steam when it launches late this year. It probably helps that you play as a small, red panda.   The primary gameplay loop in Aka revolves around explora...
