PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 1:13 PM The first-ever W.A.S.D show has been and gone, but the delightful industry insight that was shared during the event won't be lost if you were unable to attend. We're uploading all of the excellent panel discussions from the PCGamesN Theatre to our YouTube channel for those of you who missed out, and the latest is all about the return to physical events and what communities can do to create safe spaces. The talk was chaired by Game Dev London's Ahmed El-Badawi, and he was joined by Kat Welsford from Games Industry Gathering and Save Point Industry Gathering, Jade Leamcharaskul from POC in Play and Game Dev London, and Tom Bradstreet from Into Games. With the pandemic slowly coming to an end, physical events like W.A.S.D. are going to become more and more common again - but after several years where everyone was confined to a digital-only realm with entirely online meetings, the return to a physical age can be quite a daunting idea. The panel discusses how communities can mitigate this, and create safe spaces for everyone in this post-pandemic future. RELATED LINKS: Best indie games, What is W.A.S.D.?, Upcoming PC games |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 1:10 PM With Tales of the Borderlands 2 now officially in the works, what better way to celebrate than crafting your very own Borderlands gaming PC setup? From peripherals to a custom case, and a swanky CPU cooler to a painted Oculus Rift S, Reddit user Skindred77 has done just that, dipping the entire rig Claptrap's signature yellow and white. Every piece of the puzzle boasts fantastic details, whether it's the Hyperion logo on the Razer Basilisk wireless gaming mouse, a custom-printed Claptrap escape key on the RK84 wireless gaming keyboard, or the VR headset that sits on the top of the system to look like the cycloptic mascot. It's not the beefiest PC under the hood, but packs enough of a punch to run any of the Borderlands games beyond their recommended specs. An AMD Ryzen 5 3600 gaming CPU sits at the heart of the system on top of an MSI B450i Gaming AC motherboard and chilled by a Darkflash Aigo AIO cooler that sports the Vault Hunter logo. An EVGA GTX 1660 Super graphics card handles the visuals, alongside 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and 1TB hard drive. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 12:37 PM If you play a bunch of competitive FPS games like Call of Duty: Warzone or Valorant, arming yourself with a high-refresh rate display can seriously improve your experience. While 144Hz is a good start, the best gaming monitors of today boast panels capable of 240Hz and higher. One such example is the Alienware AW2720HF, which you can pick up today with a hefty 30% discount. While the Alienware AW2720HF would normally cost somewhere in the region of $429.99, you'll find it over on Best Busy with $130 (30%) shaved off the price tag, bringing it down to a much more enticing $299.99. Dell has spared no expense in pushing the Alienware AW2720HF up to 240Hz, packing both FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility for a tear-free gaming experience. Its 1080p IPS panel is a cut above cheaper TN alternatives, too, with greater colour accuracy and gamut that allow a game's visuals to truly pop. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 12:19 PM The Vampire Survivors 0.5.2 patch notes are here, unassumedly promising new Arcana power-ups, items, weapons, and more for later this week - but the roguelike game's teaser trailer reveals a new playable secret character in the form of a guitar-shredding bat-man. According to developer Poncle, Vampire Survivors update 0.5.2 will hit this weekend on either May 7 or 8 and will bring with it a number of welcome additions. These include three between weapons and evolutions, one new item, another rank for the Banish stat, and a new relic or "minor gameplay option". There's also a bug fix for the Celestial Dusting fire rate being affected by the vampire game's fps. There is also a suspicious mention in the patch notes of "a coffin in Gallo Tower". The notes are usually quite neutral and often don't give away anything, and usually hide such fun additions as swarms of killer cats and a dog that farts flowers. However, the teaser trailer for the update shows a flying bat-person who fights while shredding their guitar - who also fires drills in a straight line. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 12:19 PM Want to know where you can find all the Rogue Legacy 2 Scars? After you beat the first boss, or Estuary as they're known in the indie game, you get access to special challenges that unlock trophies, and Souls that you can use to buy powerful, permanent bonuses. However, to access these challenges in the first place, you need to find the corresponding Scar, which looks like a floating red rune, in specific areas of each biome. Once you find any of the 16 Rogue Legacy Scars, enter the building to the right of the hub area to find Erebus instead of getting on Charon's boat. Talk to him and select a challenge to get started. You'll have unlimited tries to complete the challenge, so don't worry about losing your character if they die here. You'll earn the aforementioned Souls when you complete any Scar challenge, which you can spend at the Soul Shop. You can reach the shop by climbing up to the gap in the ceiling using the objects on the right side of the room where Erebus is. Once you reach the shop, speak to the two hooded figures you find there. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 11:49 AM If you're hoping to play Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong come its imminent release date, you'll need to make sure your gaming PC is capable of meeting the Vampire: The Masquerade system requirements. Thankfully, it won't take much to get your teeth stuck into this story-driven romp set in the World of Darkness universe. You won't need the best graphics card to surmount the Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong system requirements, far from it. Developer Big Bad Wolf recommends equipping your rig with a GPU as powerful as an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070, which should be easy enough for most people. The easiest and perhaps cheapest way you'll be able to improve your Swansong experience is via the best SSD for gaming you can get your hands on. We don't yet know how much space the game will take up, but the last thing you want ruining the pace of your vampiric ventures are unsightly load times. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 11:40 AM The best wireless gaming headsets conveniently cut the cord, and they can add an extra level of freedom to your gaming desk experience. While untethering your cans used to come with a bunch of caveats, many options now boast levels of fidelity that'll please audiophiles and casual gamers alike. Sure, you could argue that you don't need a wireless gaming headset when you spend most of your time perched next to your gaming PC, but there's something comforting about ditching the constraints of USB and aux cables. Not only does it mean you can keep chatting to your discord friends when AFK, but it helps your gaming headset double as a portal to your Spotify music library. It also means you don't necessarily have to fork out for the best computer speakers, as you'll essentially have a pair wrapped around your ears. Picking the best wireless headset from Razer, Logitech, Corsair, and SteelSeries can make all the difference - reducing clutter, and improving sound quality. With the recent progressions in wireless technology, latency is no longer an issue worth considering, either. This guide highlights the top performers, so you can hear every footstep in Rainbow Six: Siege, every music event in Fortnite, and the beautiful tones of your teammates. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 11:28 AM Ex-343 Industries developer Blaze Lightcap says that recent Halo Infinite Season 2 changes including nerfs to sliding and the removal of several trick jump spots make him "sad" about the direction the FPS game's balance is heading in. The patch notes include a nerf to 'ramp boosting' - a technique used by players to gain extra momentum by landing into a slide on a downhill slope, which allows them to cross large distances quickly. A series of "collision fixes on all previously released multiplayer maps" has removed the ability to stand on small props and thin ledges. These collision spots are often used by players to perform 'trick jumps' that allow them to traverse maps in clever ways - something that has been a long-running part of the series, with players creating clips and montages of their favourite trick jumps. Another player, Ligh1s, demonstrated that an open window could no longer be passed through even after grappling up to it directly. The developer notes for the patch explain that they are considering if "the environment clearly communicates to the player their traversal options in a consistent and readable manner," suggesting that they are wary of tricks that might be considered more 'hidden' techniques. This approach, however, is in contrast to comments made during the development of Halo 2 Anniversary, where the 343 team considered it important to preserve trick jump spots from the original game. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 11:16 AM So you want to know about Overwatch 2 roles? The sequel to Blizzards' 6v6 hero shooter is coming, and there are going to be changes. The main one is that Overwatch 2 is now a 5v5 FPS game, and it will continue using the role lock mechanic introduced into the first Overwatch back in 2019. This means that the Overwatch 2 roles structure is going to shift, keeping two slots for both DPS and support, but only allow for one tank. Game director Aaron Keller talked about the change last year, stating "we have always tried to make our combat easy to read and very understandable… [but] sometimes it's hard to track what 11 other players are doing on the battlefield. Removing two of those simplifies everything, and it allows players to understand everything that's happening around them, and to be able to make better choices because of it." If you're new to the different Overwatch 2 roles, you might want to know how the roles workin this upcoming multiplayer game. Stay a while, young (over)watcher, and listen to everything there is to know about Overwatch 2 roles. RELATED LINKS: Overwatch 2 heroes, Overwatch 2 release date, Overwatch 2 talents |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 11:13 AM Excited to learn more about the Lost Ark Glaivier class? This brand-new advanced class for the Martial Artist excels at close to mid range encounters, featuring two combat stances that reward careful planning. Flurry stance, also known as the blue stance, revolves around fast, mobile attacks with high chances of dealing critical hits, while the red Focus stance emphasises power and range. Knowing when to switch between stances is what makes the Lost Ark Glaivier difficult to master. The Glaivier's identity skill increases your movement speed, critical damage, and attack when you swap stances after the identity gauge fills to a certain point. You can forgo this bonus and the Focus skills completely with one of the Glaivier's Class Engravings, but the stat boosts make it worth balancing both stances. Whatever you choose, getting the most out of the Glaivier involves chaining combos, pulling off back attacks, and retreating to safety with their agile skills. It's a difficult class to master, but once you get the hang of the switching and skill orders, it's one of the most rewarding in the MMO game so far. Here are the best Lost Ark Glaivier builds for PvP and PvE. RELATED LINKS: Best MMOS and MMORPGs on PC, Upcoming PC games, Best fantasy games on PC |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 11:09 AM Want to know how to get Fortnite Omni Chips? It's an all-out war in the popular battle royale game, as the Imagined Order invades the otherwise calm island. One of the early unlocks in this season's Fortnite battle pass is the Omni sword, a customisable harvesting tool that costs seven battle stars. So, where can you find Fortnite Omni Chips? As soon as you unlock the new sword, you get four Omni Chips to spend immediately and can earn more by completing season challenges. You use these chips to unlock new styles, and each individual style costs anywhere from four to six chips. However, after unlocking the Omni Sword, you'll also get quests that require you to find more chips at specific locations on the new Fortnite map. Finding these chips is easier said than done, especially when everyone's running around using the new Fortnite sprint mechanics. To help you collect these chips as painlessly as possible and help you to unlock all of the Omni Sword styles, we have put together some maps showing all the Fortnite Omni Chip locations for each week, including the nine Omni Chips you can get in week 7 of Chapter 3 Season 2. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 10:50 AM With the release of its 13th Gen Core 'Raptor Lake' CPUs just on the horizon, Intel is busy working on the final design and manufacturing processor for its 14th Gen Core 'Meteor Lake' processors. While the company previously announced that it would build these next-gen chips using its in-house Intel 4 process, a report from DigiTimes suggests team blue may instead make use of TSMC's 5nm node instead. Twitter user chiakokhua provides an overview of the DigiTimes article, which alleges that Intel may need to switch to TSMC for its Meteor Lake CPUs because their in-house production methods needs more 'preparation time'". This change would apparently lead to both the compute and graphics tile of 13th Gen Core chips to be manufactured on TSMC 5mn, despite the graphics tile previously being slated to use the company's more advanced 3nm node. Should this come to pass, it would mean that both AMD Ryzen Zen 4 and Intel Core Meteor Lake processors would be built on the same process. However, it's impossible to tell which of the two will come out on top with the best gaming CPUs, given that both companies take very different approaches in their chip design. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 10:42 AM The Nvidia RTX 4090 - which might actually release as the RTX 5090 - looks to be a strong best graphics card contender, and it could shake up the gaming PC scene as we know it. While the green team is still focussing on its GeForce RTX 3000 series, the prospect of playing the latest Steam games on a GPU twice as fast as the RTX 3090 is undeniably exciting. The idea of an RTX 4090 GPU might feel like a pipedream at the moment, as GPU and CPU shortages are still hampering rig upgrades across the globe. Thankfully, Nvidia looks set to ride the out of stock storm head-on, as it has already spent $10 billion securing RTX 4000 components. Availability is one thing, but increased demand has also led to rocketing GPU prices, and crypto mining enthusiasts are willing to pay a pretty penny. If you're planning on picking up a next-gen GPU, you'll want to learn as much as you can about Nvidia's next flagship graphics card. Since we're a helpful bunch, we've been keeping our ear to the ground to pick up any RTX 4090 price, release date, and spec information that's rumbling around the rumour mill. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 10:39 AM That's no moon, that's a Sifu Obi-Wan Kenobi mod! It's May the 4th so it's the perfect time to play some Star Wars games but if you've already finished with LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, this new Sifu mod turns the martial arts game into the ultimate Obi-Wan experience. This will be a day long remembered. If you're hyped for his Disney Plus show after the Obi-Wan Kenobi trailer dropped earlier this Star Wars day, if you're anything like me you'll immediately rush to the nearest game - but outside of great LEGO games, Star Wars Battlefront II, and the possibility of a Fortnite Obi-Wan skin, ol' Ben Kenobi isn't actually playable in that many games. Now, with this Sifu mod from user Halfmillz, you can play as Clone Wars cartoon-style Obi-Wan in Sloclap's kung fu action-adventure game. You'll need to add a separate mod for lightsabers - including one to turn off uncivilised weapon degradation - then you can *vrmm vrrmmm* your way through the (Coruscant?) underworld. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 10:50 AM The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT will likely rank among the best graphics cards, and the flagship RDNA 3 GPU is set to compete with Nvidia's next-gen frontrunner, the RTX 4090. While both the RTX 4000 series and the new Intel Arc Alchemist graphics range will also occupy the gaming PC battlefield this year, the red team's contender may still come out swinging, especially if you're planning on upgrading your AMD Radeon RX 6900 build. The prospect of a new enthusiast-grade Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card is exciting, but ongoing component shortages continue to make PC gaming expensive as a hobby. Despite this, industry data suggests that both Nvidia and AMD GPUs are getting cheaper, meaning we could see a return to normal pricing by the time top tier RDNA 3 cards enter the fold. It's set to be an exciting year for gaming PC tech, but wading through an endless sea of leaks and predictions isn't to everyone's taste. So, to help make the next-gen graphics card situation clearer, we've gathered everything we know about the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT, including its potential release date, price, specs, and benchmarks. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 9:33 AM New release Loot River is now on Game Pass, and aims to stand out from the roguelike pile with a unique block shifting mechanic that resembles an unlikely Bloodborne and Tetris mash up. The top-down dungeon crawling game sees players explore a series of procedurally generated labyrinths made up of small chunks of land, which can be slid around the screen to reshape the environment and traverse the landscape. Of course there is plenty of the titular loot to discover along the way too - as players with Game Pass can now experience, with the game arriving on Microsoft's subscription service. Loot River, created by Slovakian developer Straka Studio and published by the Superhot Presents fund, promises frantic action with a rather distinct Tetris-inspired twist thanks to its shifting environments. By sliding the chunks around the screen, players can outmanoeuvre enemy groups and deftly jump in and out of combat. Most of the fighting on show is melee-focused, although the trailer does feature some rather deadly-looking ranged attacks as well. The game's launch trailer showcases several such moves in action, with certain stretches requiring careful sequential movement of several blocks to progress in a manner reminiscent of traffic jam inspired sliding block puzzle Rush Hour - only featuring a number of hostile creatures out for your blood as you slide the landscape around. Another sequence shows the player rushing to slide their way across a lake as they are chased by a horde of shadowy claws stretching out from one side of the screen. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 9:10 AM During its Q1 2022 earnings call, AMD unveiled a roadmap for its AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs built on the company's latest Zen 4 microarchitecture. In addition to reaffirming the launch window of its desktop chips for gaming PCs, team red announced a new line of processors for the best gaming laptops due to arrive in 2023, codenamed 'Dragon Range'. These new AMD Ryzen chips appear to be very similar to their desktop counterparts, boasting the same PCIe Gen 5 connectivity and support for DDR5 gaming RAM. However, these mobile processors will have a lower 55W TDP, compared to 65W on the larger CPUs (something that's likely a bid to better manage thermals within a laptop form factor). Despite this slight reduction in power, AMD is confident that its Dragon Range processors will be the best gaming CPUs on the market, describing them as "the number one choice for mobile gaming dominance." The manufacturer was mum on specifics, but claims that these chips will have the "highest core, thread, and cache ever for a mobile gaming CPU." PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 8:03 AM Some adventure game fans are displeased by the lack of Return to Monkey Island pixel art graphics - in the style of the classic games or creator Ron Gilbert's own Thimbleweed Park - but Gilbert says the team "didn't want to make a retro game" and wanted the art style to be "provocative". Return to Monkey Island was announced last month, bringing back series creators Ron Gilbert and Dave Grossman for an interquel set after the events of Monkey Island 2. In general, the fan response was incredibly positive, but a more recent look at the Return to Monkey Island art style has had some fans upset - especially those hoping it would be pixel art in the style of the first two pirate games. In a new post on his Grumpy Gamer blog, Ron Gilbert addresses the choice in art direction, which is led by LittleBigPlanet designer Rex Crowle. "Monkey Island 1 and 2 weren't pixel art games," Gilbert says. "They were games using state-of-the-art tech and art... If I had stayed and done Monkey Island 3, it wouldn't have looked like Monkey Island 2." |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 6:45 AM If you want the best Nikita AVT loadout in Warzone Pacific, then this is how to build this powerful assault rifle. The Nikita was introduced in Warzone Season 3 and can be unlocked for free at level 31 of the battle pass. It's yet to go through a balance change to help the awkward recoil, but hopefully we'll see some improvements in future updates. The Nikita AVT does however have a solid firing rate, making it one of the best assault rifles in Warzone, although the time-to-kill speed needs some work. Similar to the AS44 and Volk, we've gone for a loadout which turns this rifle into more of an SMG, and kitted it out with attachments to help recoil, making this ideal for close-range combat. The best Warzone Nikita AVT loadout is built with close to medium range encounters in mind with a high fire rate and bullet spread. Although accuracy and long-range shots come at a price, this is the best Nikita loadout in Warzone Pacific if you want an assault rifle that acts like an SMG, providing a bit more stability and accuracy from a powerful weapon with high mobility. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 6:30 AM Lost Ark, the sprawling MMORPG from Smilegate and Amazon Games, has already taken the world of PC gaming by storm since its launch in February, attracting millions of players to the vibrant land of Arkesia. Now, the game's character options are growing with the first post-launch content drop since its Western release. The new Advanced Class, Glaivier, falls under the Martial Artist class. Perfect for players who love to rush head first into battle, this class deals heavy damage with a combination of spears and glaives. Armed with a variety of rapid, devastating attacks, there are plenty of flashy combat options for players who choose this path. The Glaivier specialises in doling out continuous damage and juggling enemies, making her perfect for dealing with single targets or small groups. Her spear is perfect for taking on enemies one at a time, and comes with a variety of skills to help on that front. 4-Headed Dragon is a particularly impressive skill, striking foes eight times before landing a crushing final blow. Starfall Pounce closes the gap between you and your opponent, launching them into the air for some brutal strikes. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 6:13 AM Blizzard's Overwatch team has posted a developer update following the first week of the current Overwatch 2 PvP beta, talking about its intent for Overwatch 2 support buffs and reiterating that the FPS game's beta is still a work in progress. The blog notes that players in the support role currently feel very vulnerable to dives and flanking attacks as a result of the game's shift to a 5v5 team composition featuring one fewer tank player to protect them. The devs say that improving the passive healing ability of support characters going into this beta has seen "supports performing well in the beta, but we know that balance is only one aspect of what makes a hero fun to play." With lots of changes and reworks to tank and damage heroes going into Overwatch 2 as well as the new DPS hero Sojourn, some support players have felt a little left out in the cold. Blizzard says that its long term play is to address this by adding new support heroes to the game, but in the meantime it is experimenting with a series of "new and refreshed abilities for some existing support heroes." Another side effect of this issue is that queue times for tank and damage players have increased as players tend towards playing the more exciting roles, which have seen a greater range of updates. Blizzard plans to enable quick play classic - a mode with no role restrictions - to enable a faster way for players to queue into matches. While a number of players are clamouring for a ranked mode in the beta, Blizzard says that this is still under development and not ready for large scale testing. The team also states that it wants to avoid splitting the player base due to the current beta's limited player count. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 11:36 AM Operation Monarch is coming to Warzone in Season 3, a special limited-time event that features Monsterverse Titans, Godzilla and Kong. The monsters will face off in a new game mode for Quads which includes high value loot zones according to a Raven blog post. Warzone Pacific Season 2 introduced the production of a deadly chemical, Nebula V, which has attracted Godzilla and Kong to Caldera. The Warzone Operation Monarch event was teased on the Call of Duty Twitter, showing new unique weapon skins based on the Titans, with bundles available for Kong, Godzilla, and Mechagodzilla which can be found in this Call of Duty blog post. Although we don't know much about how Godzilla and Kong will act in Operation Monarch or their exact whereabouts in Caldera, there are a few reports which suggest how their powers will work against other players. Here's everything you need to know about Operation Monarch in Warzone season 3. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 6:05 AM On the hunt for the best M1916 loadout in Warzone? It may not be the top marksman rifle in the battle royale game right now, that honour goes to the Kar98k, but the M1916 is still an accurate weapon that can potentially cause severe damage to your foes with the right build. However, even if you use the best M1916 Warzone loadout, it's tricky to overcome its weaknesses. It has low bullet velocity, so its ability to take out enemies from far away is lacking compared to other rifles. Missing a shot can also be fatal as the M1916 has a low fire rate, so you have to keep moving so you're not caught out by enemies retaliating with sniper fire of their own. We prefer the precision, damage output, and one-hit-kill potential that the very best Warzone sniper rifles offer over even the best marksman rifles in the game. However, if you fancy giving one of the newest Warzone guns a chance, our loadout will help you mitigate its weaknesses and bolster its strengths. |
PCGamesN Wednesday, May 4, 2022 6:03 AM Although Microsoft considers Windows 11 the "smoothest" upgrade it's ever handled, adoption is far slower than its predecessor as many prefer to simply update Windows 10. The same is true for April, as just 20% of people use Windows 11 six months after its release, but PC gamers might be warming up to the idea of the new operating system. This isn't miles away from where Windows 10 was at the same point in its lifespan, with around 18% of businesses taking the plunge half a year in, but Windows 11 isn't keeping the same pace. Adduplex reports that the new OS saw a 0.4% month-on-month increase in April, off the back of a considerably worse 0.2% jump in March, meaning it'll likely take far longer to hit the same milestones as its predecessor. People aren't as shy about putting Windows 11 on their gaming PC, however, as the OS has seen steady growth since it launched. It hasn't dipped below a 1.82% month-on-month increase since it first appeared on the Steam Hardware Survey in November, 2021, and April's report sees a further 2.1% leap, placing Windows 11 adoption at just under 19% on Valve's platform. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, May 4, 2022 12:27 PM Last week, you decided that romance is better than de_dust2. I'm a little surprised, considering Dust 2 not only took an early lead but has likely been modded into every game which features romance too. But I accept the decision, and our mission continues. This week, I ask you to pick between a trade-off and something with no negative consequences at all: drawbacks, or a load of lasers. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, May 4, 2022 12:13 PM May is a relatively quiet month when it comes to new PC games. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, of course. The first half of 2022 has been unusually stuffed with great things to play, and I'm sure a lot of us will be thankful for the opportunity to spend some time with the few bits and pieces that were overshadowed by your Elden Rings and your Dying Light 2s earlier in the year. For those looking for something new, however, May still has a lot of interesting stuff to offer those hungry for an indie game or two. Think of me this month as a waiter in a fancy restaurant, offering you a carefully curated selection of bite-sized delights as part of our tasting menu. What we have on offer is both nutritious and delicious, a journey through genres that is sure to excite the palette. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, May 4, 2022 12:00 PM My FixFox journey, not unlike that of the titular little furry protagonist Vix, has been abnormally long and strange. I started playing it, then moved and didn't have a PC for a long time, and it was only recently I finally got my PC back and finished the game last week. It took me around 12 hours of playing the game to travel around a strange cuboid planet using postage stamps to fix hairdryers for robots, but stretched over three months in real life. And reviewing a game this many weeks after release isn't normal procedure either, but I really like FixFox and I want people who might like it to stand a better chance of finding it. I also think a break of several weeks isn't the worst way to experience it, either. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, May 4, 2022 11:32 AM Bungie are bringing Destiny 2's Guardian Games back for their third annual outing, pitting Warlocks, Titans and Hunters against each other in a futuristic shooty Olympics. The free, time-limited event is still all about hoovering up medallions for your chosen class, but there are two new elements called Strike Scoring and Strike Medals to consider this time around. Strike Scoring is based on your time spent in Guardian Games playlists and where you rank, while Strike Medals are won by "pulling off some pretty impressive feats, like taking out a ton of enemies with a fancy little combat jig like Shatter," so Bungie say. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Wednesday, May 4, 2022 9:00 AM I've never been one for playing aggressively in turn-based tactics games. I will hug and skulk between half and full height walls like nobody's business, creeping up the map inch by inch lest one of my precious party members accidentally sets off an entire warren of alien nasties by blundering too far ahead or, heaven forbid, one of them gets nicked by a stray bit of shrapnel. To say I'm overprotective is an understatement. Thankfully, the Grey Knights in Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters are made of sterner stuff. I mean, just look at these brutes. They're enormous. Even the Gears Of War lads would be jealous of the kind of muscle these big robo boys are packing, I'm telling you now. They're by no means invincible, of course, but they can hold their own out of cover, and pick themselves back up again when your best laid plans inevitably start going down the drain. It may not be my most natural style of tactical manoeuvring, but man alive is it liberating. |

Well, the game's development team have taken to Twitter to announce that Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake will be delayed indefinitely, which seems oddly fitting considering the game is about messing with time. It was meant to launch this year, but the game's already been delayed indefinitely once before. |

Siliconera Wednesday, May 4, 2022 1:30 PM There's a new update on Genshin Impact earnings, and it has to do with how much miHoYo earned due to mobile players. Sensor Tower's latest report said it earned $3 billion worldwide. This money comes from people spending money on things like the Genesis Crystals currency and Gnostic Hymn premium battle pass. As a reminder, the game debuted back in September 2020 on Android and Apple iOS devices, as well as the PS4 and PC. Sensor Tower's information doesn't take the PS4, PS5, or PC versions into account. This shows continued growth for the game. For example, one of the first updates noted that within the first two weeks Genshin Impact earned over $100 million.. The mobile versions made $1 billion by March 2021. Sensor Tower also noted it made $2 million from mobile users' purchases within a year of its release. . Most of the money came from people in China playing the game. However, the second and third countries spending the most money on it are Japan and the United States, respectively. Slightly more Apple iOS owners are spending money on it than those with Android devices. In China, 65.7% came from the App Store. 50.5% came from Apple's storefront worldwide. The data from Sensor Tower also went over Genshin Impact's current success on mobile devices in 2022. It noted it brought in $567 million worldwide in Q1 2022. The second most successful game, according to its data, is Lineage W at $272 million during that same period. This comes as Genshin Impact activities temporarily slow down due to pandemic-related issues. MiHoYo announced that the 2.7 update, which was expected to appear after the Ayaka rerun banner ended on May 10, 2022, is delayed. The company didn't note how it will handle the game's schedule going forward. However, it did promise some sort of "compensation" for players to make up for the circumstances. In the past, miHoYo offered Primogems as compensation for bugs and maintenance. Genshin Impact is available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and mobile devices. It will also eventually come to the Nintendo Switch. The post Genshin Impact Mobile Versions Earned Over $3 Billion appeared first on Siliconera. |

Siliconera Wednesday, May 4, 2022 9:00 AM PaRappa, the dog-eared character of legendary rhythm game PaRappa the Rapper, wasn't always a dog. New early test footage uploaded by artist Rodney Alan Greenblat showed that prior to development on the game beginning, PaRappa seemed to be very different sort of Rapper. Greenblat worked with developer NanaOn-Sha on the game, and recently opened a YouTube channel. Over the last week or so, he's uploaded footage digitized from old VHS tapes dating back to the earliest stages of development on the series. The PaRappa the Rapper clip in question is test footage for the opening animation of the game, featuring placeholder voice acting and characters in place of the final product. Check it out below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcgDqDmWE8U The tape was sent to Greenblat in late 1995 by the development team, and features notes at the beginning and end from producer Masaya Matsuura. Matsuura was a key figure at NanaOn-Sha, and had a hand in the development of Parappa, Umjammer Lammy, Major Minor's Majestic March, and Vib-Ribbon. The footage contains a portion of the opening sequence of the game, when PaRappa and his friends P.J. Berri, Katy Kat, and Sunny Funny leave the movie theater and cross over into the restaurant to get some food. Though all the characters in the test footage look different from their final iterations, PaRappa himself is replaced entirely with generic blue character. His design was still being finalized at the time. The clip ends on "PaRappa" ordering water, with a note from Masaya clarifying that the footage was recorded off video output rather than an actual PlayStation dev kit. You can compare the test footage above with the finalized intro sequence, courtesy of a clip from Higher Plain Games below. Go to the 1:15 timestamp for the closest sync point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUEIw4UQcLw PaRappa the Rapper originally debuted on the PlayStation, but was remastered for the PS4 in 2017. During a special event that was celebrating the Shenmue franchise, the creator of the series, Yu Suzuki, mentioned that there are no solid plans for Shenmue IV just yet. Eager Shenmue fans believed that something was brewing due to some mysterious teases from 110 Industries late last year and Suzuki's appearance at the publisher's Tokyo Game Show presentation. The company later shared an image of an upcoming action game called Wanted: Dead and responded to fan comments that suggested that the publisher should team up with Suzuki for a new Shenmue game. Speaking to IGN Japan, Suzuki also said that he has a vision for the hypothetical next Shenmue game and that he would like it to be more approachable for new players. Back in 2020, Suzuki believed that a future game in the series will happen. He said, "With Shenmue 3 I created a game for the fans, but if I hav... |

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Wednesday, May 4, 2022 9:39 AM The work on Overwatch 2 isn't done yet. Blizzard is promising to make even more sweeping changes during Overwatch 2's PvP beta, according to a recent developer post. Overwatch 2, which adds to and expands on the foundation of the original, made significant changes to heroes like Bastion, Sombra, and Orisa, while also adding a new hero. Additionally, new maps and game modes were released, giving players new ways and places to fight and play the game. But before the beta ends, Overwatch 2 will get even more maps and heroes, with additional reworks to game mechanics in the plans. As this is the first PvP beta for Overwatch 2, there wasn't too much released to the public. While we got some significant reworks and general hero changes, as well as Sojourn, much of the game maintained familiarity with the original Overwatch (save for the change from 6v6 to 5v5). However, the developer isn't done with the previews. Blizzard is planning to introduce more content to the b... |
