The inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom aren't big on speeches. They'll write long-ass letters, sure, but when it comes to speaking out loud most of them will restrict themselves to the odd soundbyte or celebratory quip. Except, that is, for Wario.

You will have seen a lot of Reggie Fils-Aime news lately. The man has a book out, telling stories about the notoriously secretive video game industry, so that's to be expected. Much of it is insightful, some of it emotional, some of it even a little puzzling. One section, though, simply has me upset.

Prince of Persia: The Sands Of Time is an absolute classic, and while the original—first released in 2003—is still very enjoyable, the modern remake that's currently in development will hopefully be an improvement. If, that is, the thing can ever find its way out of development hell.

Tomorrow is May 4th, aka Star Wars Day. You see, May 4th sounds kind of like "may the force," which is part of the franchise's famous phrase "May the Force be with you." Yeah, it's kinda dumb, but as is now something of an annual tradition, a bunch of digital storefronts have old and new Star Wars games on sale to…

Perfect Tides is the rare game that sneaks up on you, the kind of game you don't even see coming, yet turns out to be incredible.      How relaxing games meet our need to unwind

The inaugural W.A.S.D is in the books, folks. While you can't relive the experience of being at the London show, you can undoubtedly benefit from all the industry wisdom shared. We're uploading each talk from the PCGamesN Theatre to our YouTube channel. If you're looking to unwind with some insight into how relaxing games work, one of the newer uploads may be just what you're looking for.

PCGamesN editor Rich spoke to Mooneye CEO Tobias Graff, ustwo lead artist Chris Cox, and Auroch Digital junior business development associate Jess Rutland. Leaning on their collective experience of creating chill games, the trio spoke about their work and gaming's unique ability to meet our need to unwind.

You may recognise Mooneye as the developer of the atmospheric exploration game Lost Ember, which allows you to discover the fate of an ancient world through the eyes of a myriad of animals. Ustwo is hot off the heels of an open-world game called Alba: A Wildlife Adventure that's all about conserving wildlife. We hear that Monument Valley is quite the treat on mobile, too. Finally, Auroch Digital is working on a delightful beer brewing simulator called Brewmaster. You may have also come across other delightful games like Mars Horizon on your gaming pilgrimages.

Halo Infinite Season 2 starts now, with a new battle pass

The Halo Infinite Season 2 release date has finally arrived, which means it's time to dig into the new Lone Wolves battle pass and new game modes. Season 2 adds new maps, new game modes, new events, and new narrative and themed events to the free-to-play game.

Season 2 features two Lone Wolves narrative events, both of which last for two weeks. The first is called Interference, and runs May 3-15. The second, Alpha Pack, runs July 19 - August 1. During both events, you'll be able to complete event challenges by playing the new Last Spartan Standing mode on Breaker, the new Big Team Battle map.

Outside of the special events, however, there's another 100-tier premium battle pass. If you purchase the premium pass, there are around 180 rewards to collect as you rank it up - but there are free rewards along the way for players who opt not to buy. Season 2 will also feature a new Fracture event called Entrenched, which will offer multiple opportunities to knock out additional event challenges and earn another set of cosmetic items.

Sure, WipeOut was cool, but F-Zero was my favourite of the classic anti-grav racers. it's a good thing therefore that Redout, the modern claimant to the floating throne, feels more like F-Zero to play. Even better that its sequel is coming later this month - May 26th, as per the trailer below.

Loot River is a tetrogueimo - that is, a mashup of Tetris and Rogue, in my opinion. As a swordwielding pixel adventurer, you slash through proc gen dungeons in which the platform you're standing on can often be slid around. This lets you manipulate the hordes of monsters trying to kill you. It's out now.

Theatrical 3D platformer Balan Wonderworld released last year to dismal reviews, despite familiar names like former Sonic Team head Yuji Naka at the helm. Last week Naka took to Twitter to air his displeasure at Square Enix's treatment of him and the game, concluding by saying that he believes "Square Enix and Arzest are companies that do not care about games and game fans."

Last month's news that original creator Ron Gilbert is making a new Monkey Island is the surprise of the year so far. For Gilbert, his involvement has apparently brought a lot of comments, and an expectation that whatever he's making will line up with comments he's made over the past twenty years.

Not so, says Gilbert. On the subject of his previous comments, he says "None of these are promises or anything I owe anybody."

Steam sale Going Rogue Legacy 2In many ways, the persistent popularity of the rogue-lite genre feels like an anomaly. With notable exceptions, gaming has trended towards more welcoming experiences that do not punish players too harshly whenever they die. On the other hand, rogue-lites pride themselves on their oftentimes steep difficulty, which sends players all the way back to the beginning after a single death. While some undeniably find this aggravating, many others find surpassing these overwhelming foods incredibly thrilling and rewarding, which at least partially explains why rogue-lites continue to find success. So it only makes sense that Steam currently has an entire sale devoted to the genre, which goes by the name Going Rogue. I say that, but in reality, rogue-lites only represent a portion of the discounted games on offer despite what the name of the sale implies. It certainly features some noteworthy rogue-lite games, including Dead Cells and the recently released Rogue Legacy 2. However, the sale als...
