Aside from a couple of minor exceptions, the rewards on offer in the free-to-play game's new pass are almost identical to that of season one. The season two battle pass offers new Bloodsworn weapon and armour cosmetics to players who pay the $4.99 USD / £4.49 GBP to access the premium 'empowered' rewards, as well as two new chat emoji. Otherwise, however, the rewards are almost beat-for-beat the same on both the free and premium tracks. Even the two cosmetics and two emotes are in the same slots as previously, so it comes across a bit like a quick copy-and-paste job. There is actually one other notable difference that players are picking up on. Where the season one battle pass offered four legendary crests - two in the free tier and two in the premium tier - the season two pass swaps out one of those free legendary crests for a lower-value rare crest. That's before you consider that these aren't even the more valuable eternal legendary crests, just the regular ones that drop bound, untradeable gems. Fair warning, of course, that this post gets into some pretty heavy late-game spoiler territory for Vampire Survivors, so read on at your own risk! You have been warned. The most interesting aspects of the new 0.8.0 update begin with the game's fifth stage, Capella Magna, which now features a new, temporary form. In this, the usual items are removed from the map by a special 'golden hand' reaper who spawns at the beginning of the stage. Surviving until the 30 minute mark causes a unique event where all the reapers merge together, Megazord-style, to form a super-reaper called 'The Ender.' Once you have defeated the Ender, Capella Magna returns to its normal state for future runs. The update offers a range of boosts to rewards from casino work, along with discounts to penthouse renovations and a range of other gear added as part of the multiplayer game's casino updates. This update is also scheduled to run a little longer than the usual week. From July 7 - 18, players in GTA Online will get triple the usual in-game cash and reputation point rewards for completing casino freemode missions. Players can start these when acting as a VIP/CEO of an organisation or as an MC president. In addition, there are double the usual cash and reputation payouts for overtime shootout, open wheel races, and the Gerald's last play missions assigned by the Los Santos dealer. If you're looking for a new set of wheels, you can earn the GTA Online Prize Ride, two-door coupé the Zion Classic, for finishing in the top five in car meet races for three days in a row. We've spent time with the game's opening areas, which set a foundation for what should be another long, sweeping adventure. Combat will feel similar to players of earlier Xenoblade games. The Xenoblade Chronicles 3 version is all about combos that trigger Break, Topple and Daze statuses. Attacks have special effects if you attack from certain directions, and a handy arrow on the UI lets you know your current angle designation. The early tutorial sequences of a JRPG can be something of a slog, as the game's long running time means a couple of hours getting you settled isn't entirely unreasonable. Still, Xenoblade 3 breaks down elements and rolls them out in bits! This helps with a battle interface that otherwise might overwhelm.
Key story fights won't let you use it, but the game's auto-battle functionality is quite nice when it's available. It does a great job of coordinating your skills for combos and correct attack angles. There were a couple of instances when it didn't work as intended — stay away from cliffs, maybe — and sometimes we disabled it to grab items mid-battle. But generally? It's nice to have. It's still satisfying in the early areas to optimize your team configuration. Auto-battle also makes the game great for "podcast play," working toward grinding levels and such while doing other things. Setting the game apart, at least in its early hours, is a darker tone. Instead of the happy-go-lucky Rex and his gramps, you're introduced to the main cast of angsty pseudo-teens and their bleak war-filled existence. People in this world live ten year lifespans as part of a combat faction, forced to slay others to essentially steal their life force. It's honestly wild that anyone in this world would be as well-adjusted as these six.
They're quickly cast out for various plot reasons, and forced to work together to survive. And at this point... weirdly, the game starts to lighten up a bit? It's hard to say how things will play out. Still, it feels like you'll be able to enjoy exploration and building your team with a bit more levity, before heading back in to the darker reality of main story sequences. While we've only seen hints in the game's early hours, Xenoblade Chronicles 3's modular class system appears to be a big focus. Early in the second chapter, a scripted sequence forces you to try swapping up classes, at least for a bit. That feels like a concerted effort to keep you from just settling into the initial canon roles. The game also switches you between lead characters, further instilling its desire to get you experimenting with the systems. We'll have to play more to see how this plays out, though.
Mostly, the early parts of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 confirm what fans probably wanted: this is a familiar, robust adventure. It's a comfort for those who use games like this as long-term companions, and it iterates just enough to keep things interesting. Whether it holds together for its full duration? God of War: Ragnarok now has a definite release date. The sequel to 2018's God of War is set for a November 9, 2022 launch date, according to Sony. This confirms earlier rumors published in Bloomberg. God of War: Ragnarok would have launched originally in 2021. Santa Monica Studio chose to delay the game due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, developer Santa Monica Studio promoted the impending release with a new cinematic trailer, titled Father and Son. Atreus is now a young man, indicating some time has passed since the pair's previous outing. During a fight, Kratos falls into a snowy valley, and fends off enemies with his shield. After Atreus catches up, the pair gets ready to face a giant, mountain-sized wolf. The wolf is likely Fenrir, in keeping with the series' recent Norse inspiration. Alongside the news of the release date, Santa Monica Studio unveiled deluxe editions and preorder bonuses for God of War: Ragnarok.
The launch edition of God of War: Ragnarok includes two snow-themed outfits for the father-son pair: the Kratos Risen Snow Armor and a cosmetic Atreus Risen Snow Tunic. The Digital Deluxe edition of the game adds a digital soundtrack, digital mini-artbook, and a theme and avatar set for the PS4. Additionally, Kratos and Atreus can don the Darkdale outfits. They can also wield Darkdale handles for the axe and Blades of Chaos. The physical Collector's Edition comes with a Steelbook display case, 2-inch carvings of Vanir twins, a dwarven dice set, a Knowledge Keeper's Shrine box, and a 16-inch replica of Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor. Finally, the Jotnar edition takes the Collector's edition and adds a Falcon, Bear, and Wolf pin set, a Legendary Draupnir Ring, a cloth map, a 7-inch vinyl record containing music by composer Bear McCreary, and upgrades the dice to Brok's dice set. According to local news reports, Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of the Yu-Gi-Oh manga, has died. He was sixty years old. A passing boat found his body off the coast of Nago in Okinawa prefecture on the morning of July 6, 2022, and alerted the Japanese Coast Guard. He was wearing snorkeling equipment at the time. His identity was confirmed on July 7, 2022. Police and the Japanese Coast Guard are still investigating the exact circumstances of Takahashi's death. His debut manga, Tokiou no Taka (Fighting Hawk), published in 1990. His breakout work was the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, which went to print in 1996. The series told the tale of Yugi Muto, a kind young man who solves the ancient Millennium Puzzle. The act causes him to become the host of the spirit contained within the puzzle, a former Pharaoh from ancient Egypt. This ghost came to be known as "Dark Yugi" or "Yami Yugi", and showed himself whenever Yugi and his friends were threatened by those with darkness in their hearts. Together they also played dangerous "Shadow Games", risking their lives and souls to help Dark Yugi recover his memories and challenge various trials. The Yu-Gi-Oh! manga inspired the creation of a trading card game based on the series, which became the most famous incarnation of the franchise. It continues to this day, with various manga, anime, and video game spin-offs in operation. Kazuki Takahashi received recognition for his work, including the 2015 Inkpot Award from Comic-Con International. Besides the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, he also also created works like The Comiq, a celebration of Weekly Shonen Jump. His latest work was Marvel's Secret Reverse, a one-shot comic featuring Marvel superheroes Iron Man and Spider-Man. The Yu-Gi-Oh manga is published in English by Viz Media, and the card game is managed by Bandai Namco.
