PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 2:31 PM The big re-reveal of Ubisoft's open-sea pirate game confirms many new features, including that it's basically Sea of Thieves meets Raft, but PCGamesN can confirm the best yet - Skull and Bones pets, included in ship customisation, such as adorable pirate kitty cats. Players can change a lot of things about their Skull and Bones ship, from practical stuff like weapons and cargo capacity to cosmetic items like furniture and cooler mastheads. Those paying attention to the Skull and Bones gameplay reveal may have noticed an adorable lemur accompanying the player character as they steer the ship, too. There was also a cat, too. These both looked an awful lot like pets to us, so PCGamesN reached out to Ubisoft - which confirms that yes, Skull and Bones will indeed have pirate pets, including lemurs, cats, and more to be revealed at a later date. "Pets are indeed part of the customisation options," an Ubisoft representative told PCGamesN. "Cats will also be available - as for the rest, it's going to be a surprise!" PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 2:31 PM It's been a long time coming, but the first new Skull and Bones gameplay since 2018 has finally revealed just how Ubisoft's live-service pirate game is turning out - and it's far more of a survival game than some may have suspected, with influence from Rare's Sea of Thieves too. PCGamesN got to check out all the new gameplay and details for Skull & Bones, and while it's still recognisable a lot has changed too - hopefully, for the better. The most important difference is that Ubisoft is now leaning heavily on Skull & Bones as a survival game experience. Players start the game washed up on shore with basically nothing except a small boat and a spear to fend off wildlife. Players then stumble into the pirate town of Sainte-Anne, one of the safe "pirate dens" or outposts where players can explore on foot, and is probably the biggest influence from Sea of Thieves. Here, players can talk to various NPCs to get quests and contracts, craft ships and equipment, buy various provisions, socialise with players, and even work on treasure maps. It looks very like the hub island in Rare's pirate game. RELATED LINKS: Skull & Bones release date, Best pirate games, Best open-world games |
PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 2:09 PM It's been a difficult time for fans waiting on a Red Dead Online update, so much so that some even held a funeral for the game to mourn its demise, and a new blog post from Rockstar suggests they may have been right to do so. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 2:03 PM Surprise, me hearties! Ubisoft's live-service pirate game is back and the Skull and Bones release date is now confirmed for 2022. Skull and Bones is now a little more of a survival game than an Assassin's Creed IV piracy spin-off, and you'll be able to experience it for yourself in November - but not on Steam. It's been a long time since Skull and Bones was announced all the way back in June 2017 and a lot has changed. It's still an open-world game with an online focus, but it now has more of an influence from Rare's Sea of Thieves and survival games like Raft. You can check out PCGamesN's full impressions of the new gameplay and features here, but when's Skull and Bones actually coming out - and is it an Epic Games Store exclusive? PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 12:49 PM It's been a tough time for Genshin Impact fans who would rather avoid spoilers for the upcoming 3.0 update, but, on the other hand, those who actively seek out new details have been given an incredible amount of leaks to feast their eyes on. The most recent major leak shows off gameplay featuring Tighnari – a new Dendro character – and four unseen enemy types that will presumably make their appearance in the jungles of Sumeru. In this footage, Tighnari uses Dendro skills and bow attacks on a Ruin Gargoyle, Electro Regisvine, Desert Rogues, and a Mushroom Raptor. Keep in mind that, since this is a leak, these may not be the official enemy names. Well, other than the Electro Regisvine, which can't be mistaken for anything else. The leaked gameplay clips were uploaded to Twitter by Xwides, a Genshin Impact leaker with over 80,000 followers. A YouTuber named F2P Reizu put all of the Twitter clips together into one video for easier viewing, and you can check out the video for yourself right here: RELATED LINKS: Genshin Impact 2.8 release date, Genshin Impact character tier list, Genshin Impact leveling guide |
PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 12:44 PM Most of us have probably made more than a few enthusiastic gun sounds in our time while playing FPS games, but now Apex Legends streamer Rudeism has converted that habit into an actual gameplay mechanic. Using an Arduino microprocessor, Rudeism managed to map his hands to the battle royale game's weapons, using motion sensors to aim and firing by making noise into a lapel mic. The streamer, famed for his bizarre alternative controller solutions, uploaded a video of his setup to the Apex Legends subreddit (spotted by TheGamer), where he tests out his creation for the first time with a tentative, "brrrrrrrrr" - then gets very excited when he is able to knock down an enemy with his voice-controlled shots. Any sound works, as he demonstrates with a little "brap brap brap" and some "pa pa pa pa" sounds. Amusingly, as he then exclaims, "this is so dumb, this is my favourite thing in the world," his weapon fires off several more bursts in time with his speech, showing that you'd probably have to keep your lips sealed if you were trying to be a bit more sneaky. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 12:14 PM Once rare like a legendary loot drop, new MMOs are now more common than ever. And as part of a genre built upon freedom and vast numbers of players coming together, they are among the most ambitious games around. Each one promises a sprawling world, a vibrant community, and enough content to make you blush and go all dizzy. New MMORPGs are full of potential, but they're also precariously close to failure – history is littered with MMOs that have had their moment in the spotlight or never garnered the attention they deserved. In the interest of saving you hours spent in character creation for a game you might not even like, we have compiled a handy list of all the new MMOs that are worth your time. But we have also gone one step further: as the worlds of MMORPGs are ever-changing, we have included games with recent updates, new content drops, and the like, plus new massively multiplayer online games with RPG elements. So, from newly updated sword-and-sorcery classics to emerging action-RPGs, these are the new MMOs you should be paying attention to. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 12:29 PM Looking for a list of the best dragon games on PC? Since long before the days of Dungeons and Dragons PC games, and before Tolkein became the poster boy of fantasy, dragons have been the most fearsome and majestic creatures of myth. Usually they breath fire and hoard gold, other times they become companions and deign to be ridden, and more often than not they get mistaken for wyverns. PC games, and the best RPGs in particular, are naturally swarming with dragons and dragon-like creatures both as friends and foes. We do love an epic showdown and nothing can deliver quite like a skyscraper-sized, fire-breathing lizard. We've collected some of the best dragon games on PC where you can encounter, battle, or befriend a dragon. Plenty of the best selections are from multiplayer games or MMORPGs. Given that dragons can't often be taken down by a single adventurer (looking at you, Dragonborn) it makes sense that plenty of games that look to tackle dragons do so at the epic proportions of hundreds of players joining together to defeat them. Here are the top dragon games you'll want to try if you need a whole lot more in your life. RELATED LINKS: Skyrim mods, Play Skyrim, Games like Skyrim |

PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 11:49 AM Want to make the best Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Longsword build? The decision of which items to craft and which of the new Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak monsters to hunt down is daunting, especially when there are so many different parts you can make for just one weapon. The possibilities are nearly endless, given that there are 16 weapon types in the RPG game. Because the best Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Longsword build requires a lot of hard-to-get endgame items, it takes a while to acquire them all. While some materials, such as Supple Piel and Eltatite Ore, don't require you to do anything too strenuous, others will need you to master hunt some of the toughest beasts in the game. What's more, many of them are very good indeed: games that are just as much fun to play as their full-price, wallet-destroying siblings. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 11:33 AM Looking to defeat the Diablo Immortal Hydra and Golem world bosses? Well, you're in the right place. Blizzard Entertainment's free-to-play RPG game is full of ancient evils to fight, and while you can mash through most of them with ease – provided you're sporting one of the best Diablo Immortal builds – the multi-headed Hydra and the hulking Golem both require a suitably Herculean effort to defeat. Still, at least this feisty pair of bosses offer high rewards when you get the better of them. So, you'll want to know how to do it right. Considered to be some of the hardest world bosses in the game, our guide to beating the Diablo Immortal Hydra and Golem provides the top tips on where to find them, how to kill them, and what rewards you'll reap from doing so. They're both mini-zone bosses, and as such they can be farmed, making them a great option for players looking to bolster rare resources. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 11:04 AM The first major post-launch Diablo Immortal update arrived on July 7, bringing with it a new Diablo Immortal battle pass for the RPG game - yet many fans are already expressing their disappointment at how similar it appears to be to the previous season's offering. Aside from a couple of minor exceptions, the rewards on offer in the free-to-play game's new pass are almost identical to that of season one. The season two battle pass offers new Bloodsworn weapon and armour cosmetics to players who pay the $4.99 USD / £4.49 GBP to access the premium 'empowered' rewards, as well as two new chat emoji. Otherwise, however, the rewards are almost beat-for-beat the same on both the free and premium tracks. Even the two cosmetics and two emotes are in the same slots as previously, so it comes across a bit like a quick copy-and-paste job. There is actually one other notable difference that players are picking up on. Where the season one battle pass offered four legendary crests - two in the free tier and two in the premium tier - the season two pass swaps out one of those free legendary crests for a lower-value rare crest. That's before you consider that these aren't even the more valuable eternal legendary crests, just the regular ones that drop bound, untradeable gems. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 12:14 PM Project Cambria is set to be Meta's next best VR headset that's fuelled by metaverse ambitions, but it won't replace the Oculus Quest 2. The company says the mixed reality device will cater to more than just gaming, even going as far as to claim it could replace your work PC or laptop. While this suggests the device will be all work and no play, there's reason to believe it'll still be a great option for VR games, even if the Oculus Quest 3 ends up being the company's actual next-gen VR gaming gizmo. We suspect that Project Cambria is the new title for the previously rumoured Oculus Quest Pro, but rumblings of an enhanced Oculus Quest 2 Pro are now making the rounds. At the company's debut Meta Connect conference in October 2021, CEO Mark Zuckerberg described its mixed reality device as a "completely new advanced and high-end product." The Facebook boss has since emphasised the difference between Quest and the new metaverse goggles in a Facebook post, claiming they aim to "seamlessly blend virtual reality with the physical world." Zuckerberg's description is perhaps more fluffy than helpful, but we've collated everything we know about Project Cambria in an effort to decipher the Meta headset's potential price, release date, and specs. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 10:38 AM Want to know how to evolve weapons in Vampire Survivors? This roguelite indie game is rapidly gaining in popularity, as players discover the sheer joy of walking around a forest or library, slaying an ever-growing encroaching horde of monsters that just want to be very close to you. It's a relatively simple game to play, but mastering it and unlocking Vampire Survivors characters can get a little tricky if you don't spec into the correct build from the start. To evolve an item in Vampire Survivors, you must first level up a weapon to its maximum level, collect its linked item when it appears on the level up screen, then kill an elite monster and open the chest it leaves behind. Unfortunately, you only have a few slots for weapons and items, so you must choose carefully. The items that synergise well with a weapon aren't necessarily the items you need to evolve them, so while you'll want to pick up the Candelabrador if you have the Garlic weapon, you also need a Pummarola to power it up. If you don't have the new Grim Grimoire item to help you figure out which items you should keep on a run with the best Vampire Survivors characters, we've put together a list of all the possible Vampire Survivors weapon evolutions and which items you need to pick up when you level up. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 10:38 AM Want to know who the best Vampire Survivors characters are? You only have the whip-wielding vampire hunter Antonio available when you first start this roguelike game, but by fulfilling specific requirements you can unlock more Vampire Survivors characters, weapons, and items to use in every run Some Vampire Survivors characters are better than others, depending on their starting equipment or permanent bonuses; the likelihood of finishing a run is more of a certainty with the right build, especially if you use Vampire Survivor weapon evolutions to combine items to achieve their more powerful form. Nearly every update adds a new Vampire Survivors character to the roster, so to help you get the best start to a winning run, we've picked a handful of characters we consider to be the cream of the crop. For each one, we'll go over their buffs and debuffs, starting weapons, and which Arcana you can choose to amplify the best build for that character. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 10:40 AM There's a lot that goes into making the best Vampire Survivors build. In every run in the roguelike game, you defeat hordes of enemies, amassing new weapons and items to help you survive until the end. You can upgrade your items or take new ones at regular intervals, which helps you bolster your build each time you level up. However, in the heat of the moment, it can be hard to know which items give you the best buffs and which combos you should stack together. When making the best Vampire Survivors build, you need to make two key decisions: which of the best Vampire Survivor characters to play as and which powerful Vampire Survivors weapon evolutions you want to aim for as you're collecting items. In this guide, we'll focus on weapons and items you should grab to help you reach the time limit and win the run. You have a fair amount of flexibility in finding what you need to make each build, but you only get one free choice of Arcana, so we'll list which one to choose at the start of your run. You do get two more opportunities to acquire additional Arcana, but this is dictated by the ones you didn't pick, so you need to get that first call spot on. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 10:40 AM Are you hunting for Vampire Survivors cheats? If you want to unlock all Vampire Survivors characters, you must enter at least one of the two cheat codes in the roguelike game's main menu. It's as easy as pushing buttons in a specific order, and you know the cheat code is active when you hear a jingle. Of course, these are just the built-in Vampire Survivors cheats. In addition, you can install the Vampire Survivors cheat engine if you want to break the game completely and easily unlock Red Death or beat the Vampire Survivors Ender boss. Using the cheat engine, you can make yourself an unstoppable monster slayer able to clear every enemy on screen, get treasure chests, and speed up time at the touch of a button. This isn't the only mod available for Vampire Survivors, as you can also find others in the same Nexus Mods page that give you access to custom characters. So, if you want to play as Sonic the Hedgehog, one of the X-Men, or characters from Dragon Ball Z, the option is there. Here's what you need to set up the Vampire Survivors cheat engine, all of the available cheats, and how to remove the mod. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 11:36 AM Want to know how to kill the Vampire Survivors Ender boss? After months of updates that add so many well-hidden Vampire Survivors character unlocks and a ton of Vampire Survivors weapon evolutions to master, we now face off against the final boss. The Ender is a fusion of all five grim reaper enemies, a Super-Reaper if you will, and unlike every other enemy in the game, it fights back. Is the Vampire Survivors Ender a tough fight? Not really, but only if you have the best Vampire Survivors builds. However, the main issue for newer players is that you may struggle to find the final boss. There are visual cues that show when it's going to appear, but there are some things you need to do first. PCGamesN Thursday, July 7, 2022 12:17 PM If you've not played Outriders before, the newest expansion, Worldslayer, is the perfect place to start. Not only can you catch up on what you've been missing out on, but the release is a wonderfully polished, upgraded, and fleshed-out version of the game, giving you the best possible experience. Developers People Can Fly have been hard at work patching and improving Outriders, a looter-shooter with uniquely brutal and bloody combat. The game has lodged itself firmly in its own niche, with the intensity of an FPS and the depth of an RPG. Outriders Worldslayer is absolutely crammed with newness. New story, new enemies, new weapons, new systems, and new endgame content all come together to form one of the most complete and intricate expansions we've seen in years. It's pretty… expansive. For those of you who are already allied to the Outriders cause, Worldslayer can be downloaded as a large slice of DLC goodness, but for those who are new to the game, now would be the perfect opportunity to pick up the bundle and see what it has to offer. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, July 7, 2022 2:30 PM It's fair to say that Skull And Bones has had a somewhat troubled development. Ubisoft's pirate-themed live service MMO has been knocking around for almost a decade, having been overhauled a couple of times since it started life as a DLC for Asassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. But at a stream tonight it was revealed that Skull And Bones still exists, and not only that, but it has a release date of November 7th, 2022. Still a few months left to delay it again if necessary, but fingers crossed. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, July 7, 2022 2:30 PM Back in the mists of time, I actually had a hands on with Ubisoft's pirate 'em up Skull And Bones once. In my memory of it, I was an adolescent, which was categorically not the case and probably more a product of the booths at Gamescom being very tall, not to mention the hands on taking place so very long ago. At that time, the game was essentially the naval combat bit from AC: Black Flag, carved out and extended to be its own thing. Now, years later and with many delays and reworks bobbing about in its wake, Skull And Bones is back, and looking a bit different. The current state of play for Skull And Bones was revealed with a livestream tonight, featuring an explainer video walking you through some of the game features, a chonk of the game in piratical action, and a surprisingly close release date confirmation for the 8th of November 2022 (there's still time for it to be delayed again!). All those extra months in the oven have produced a decidedly Sea Of Thieves-shaped bun. But this one is all realistic and gritty, more complicated, and is taking itself seriously. You won't catch Skull And Bones announcing its new season features with a comedy song, that's for sure. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Thursday, July 7, 2022 12:54 PM The first unusual thing about Symphony Of War Colon The Nephilim Saga is that it's a strategy game made in RPG Maker. That's not particularly unusual, but it leads into the second unusual thing: that it's also a good strategy game. The third unusual thing is one I didn't even appreciate until I was a fair bit in: it's not only a good strategy game "for an RPG Maker game", but one of the best games I've played this year. |

Siliconera Thursday, July 7, 2022 6:00 PM Fans are one step closer to seeing the continuation of Hunter x Hunter manga series. The series creator Yoshihiro Togashi took to Twitter to announce that he was one chapter away from completing the manga's latest release. Alongside the announcement, Togashi also revealed a detailed sketch of the character Hiei from YuYu Hakusho, another popular series that he created. Back in May 2022, Togashi surprised fans of Hunter x Hunter after he suddenly revealed that he was continuing work on the series after a nearly four-year hiatus. Over the last few months, the creator has been uploading images of his progress via his personal Twitter account every day. These images usually consist of page numbers and a few rough sketches. Details are still scarce, and it's unclear how many chapters or volumes Togashi plans on releasing. With the last-chapter milestone, Togashi decided to do something slightly different. https://twitter.com/Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp/status/1544880069771833344?s=20&t=tTcuPkZNQ1E2e_YxEfn8Bg In the latest update, Togashi also revealed a sketch of Hiei, one of the main characters from YuYu Hakusho. The sketch shows Hiei unraveling the bandages on his arm and letting the Dragon of the Darkness Flame loose. Notably, Togashi notes that he had originally intended on coloring in the sketch, but ultimately gave up. Furthermore, according to the attached Twitter hashtag, the sketch was from "quite a while ago". Viz Media is in charge of the localization of the Hunter x Hunter manga. The anime adaptation is available to watch on Crunchyroll. There is no confirmed release date for the new manga chapters. Siliconera Thursday, July 7, 2022 3:00 PM A Nintendo Switch OLED model with a Splatoon 3 design will come out on August 26, 2022. The Splatoon 3 Nintendo Switch OLED model will cost $360. While the Splatoon 3 model will come out on August 26, the carrying case and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to complete the look will come out on September 9, 2022. Nintendo released a short video that shows off the different angles of the Splatoon 3 edition. The colors of the Joy-Cons are purple and yellow, and there are designs of the squids and paint splashes all over everything. Both the dock and the backs of the Joy-Cons are white, though still with the same pattern throughout. The color schemes and design are the same on the carrying case and Nintendo Switch Pro controller. https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/1544667690484252672 The OLED version of the Nintendo Switch costs slightly more, but it will have slight changes to the design, such as different-looking buttons. The most major difference, however, is with the screen. Because the screen uses an OLED display, there are more vibrant colors and sharper lines when you play the game. The Nintendo Switch OLED Splatoon 3 Edition will come out on August 26, with the Pro controller and carrying case coming out on September 9, 2022. Splatoon 3 will also come out on the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. The post Splatoon 3 Nintendo Switch OLED Edition Will Make a Splash appeared first on Siliconera. |
Siliconera Thursday, July 7, 2022 12:00 PM Taito will release a big plush of Anya Forger from Spy x Family from July 8, 2022. There will be two versions – one with a normal smile and one with a more mischievous one. It will be around 30 centimeters tall, and she is wearing her school uniform. These plushes are prize ones, which means you will have to get them from a claw machine. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!] Most stores around Japan will have the Anya Forger plush available for people to try and grab. Those who play the online version of Taito's claw machine will also have the chance to get it. Anya's mischievous expression is a signature look for her, and many pieces of merchandise use it for her. For example, it is one of the looks that the Anya Tamagotchi can make. Spy x Family is available on Crunchyroll, and aired during the Spring 2022 anime season. It follows the story of Loid Forger and his fake family, which he assembled in order to complete a mission for the safety of his country. Anya, his fake daughter, is a mind reader who knows that Loid is a spy and fake wife Yor is actually an assassin. The show is a critical success and the second season will start airing in October 2022. The Anya Forger plush will come out in Taito claw machines from July 8, 2022. PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, July 7, 2022 5:05 PM Fresh off the release of The Quarry, developer Supermassive Games is prepping to launch the next chapter of The Dark Pictures Anthology. The Devil in Me, the fourth game in the series, received a story trailer today along with a fall release window. As per the usual, The Devil in Me stars a group of dorks trying to survive against some unseen terror. After a TV crew receives a mysterious phone call, they go off to enjoy a pleasant tour of a massive hotel. The clincher here is that the hotel is a recreation of the "Murder Castle" that infamous serial killer H. H. Holmes once used to lure in guests before killing them. It sounds like it'll be a lovely stay. As the castle is a "faithful" recreation, you can expect it to be filled with terrors. The original castle had more than 100 rooms in its maze-like structure, along with traps, hidden rooms, and doors and staircases that led to nowhere. It's quite the setting for a game like The Devil in Me. ... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, July 7, 2022 4:30 PM So far, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has left longtime fans of the esteemed fantasy franchise feeling mixed. On one hand, some enjoy the idea of centering an entire game around one of the franchise's most iconic characters and believe it could at least lead to some interesting concepts. On the other hand, some doubt that Gollum's canonical abilities and backstory can translate to a good gameplay or storytelling experience. The aesthetic of the game, which depicts the world of Middle-earth in a slightly more cartoonish style than usual, did not help matters. And frankly, the new gameplay trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum that publisher Nacon uploaded doesn't seem like it will change anyone's minds. This trailer mainly focused on the title's stealth-centric gameplay, which looks about as basic as it gets. Aside from the expected sweeping shots of Middle-earth, the footage shown mostly amounted to Gollum hiding in bushes and climbing around the env... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, July 7, 2022 4:00 PM It's been anchored for a long time, but Ubisoft's Skull and Bones finally has a release date for November. The multiplayer pirate game has been on troubled waters for many years, with reports on mismanagement and toxicity leaving many to wonder if it would ever get launched. However, it looks like the French developer is ready. Skull and Bones received a cinematic trailer and gameplay reveal today, heralding in the digital "Golden Age of Piracy." The Skull and Bones gameplay trailer reveals a colorful world ripe for plundering. Taking place on the Indian Ocean, your task is to begin your life as a pirate lord from scratch. You start off with nothing, having washed up in the pirate den of Saint Anne. Dens allow you to craft equipment and ships, prepare for voyages, take on quests, and interact with other players. Taking provisions aboard has a gameplay element. If your crew isn't provided for, they'll apparently mutiny your ass. What happens after tha... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, July 7, 2022 3:30 PM Publisher Nacon has wrapped up its showcase, bringing plenty of new game trailers to peruse. Among the list of possible games, I was most interested in finding more about the upcoming RoboCop: Rogue City. Teased one year ago, not much was known about the game, outside of the fact it was under development by the former Terminator: Resistance team. Today, we at last got a gameplay trailer for RoboCop: Rogue City, along with a release window. RoboCop: Rogue City was scheduled for 2023, and now we know what month. The game will bust down the doors on PC in June of 2023. A more precise date wasn't revealed just yet, but there's still plenty of time left. Developer Teyon is plugging away at the game, which looks to charge players to clean up the mean streets of the near-future Detroit. Best of luck. The gameplay trailer for RoboCop: Rogue City sets up the action and world. Taking on a first-person perspective, you play as RoboCop as he takes on various Detroit gangs and ot... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Thursday, July 7, 2022 3:00 PM Take-Two Interactive, the parent company for Rockstar, has sent a DMCA notice to mod creator Luke Ross, the creator of VR overhauls for GTA V, Red Dead Redemption 2, and the Mafia trilogy. This isn't an unusual move from Take-Two, as the company has sent out other DMCA notices to mod creators in the past. Ross made Take-Two Interactive's DMCA takedown notice public via a post on his Patreon. Take-Two's demands that he "remove all their copyrighted works" from his Patreon page. The legality of modding is contentious in some circles, but Ross believes that his work does not infringe on the company's copyright. Since posting this announcement yesterday, Take-Two hasn't clarified its demands. However, even if it doesn't, Ross will be forced to remove the VR mods from his Patreon page. Take-Two Interactive issues another DMCA notice As long as gaming's been around, modding has been an equally large part of it. Some of the most pop... |
