PCGamesN Friday, December 30, 2022 5:51 AM What are the most relaxing games you should play to help you de-stress? Sometimes we don't always want to end a long, busy day being taken out by sweaty teenagers in Warzone 2 or being scared silly by the jump scare horrors of Callisto Protocol. Instead, there are times when all we want to do is nestle into our cosy gaming thrones with a cup of tea and a nice chill game to help us forget our stresses and strains. The calming games we look for in these moments shouldn't be too taxing on your grey matter. Nor should they be too loud, action heavy, or reliant on the lightning-quick reactions you'll need to succeed in competitive multiplayer games. An easy, melodic soundtrack should slowly draw you into a charming world that deserves to be savoured, not rushed through. If you fancy a break from the more anxiety-inducing games in your library, then melt into one of the calming games in this list. With our selection of puzzle games, adventure games, and more, you'll dive into the deep blue ocean of Abzu, experience the therapeutic satisfaction of really cleaning something in Powerwash Simulator, or even relax with friends in Tetris Effect. Let's just say, when it comes to the kind of relaxing games you should try, we've got all bases covered. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 30, 2022 9:00 AM I confess: I usually did my damndest to rig the RPS Advent Calendar vote. When every year has so many more than 24 good games, I always tried to tactically vote and reshuffle points to wedge in a few wee great games I knew not many people had played. But with a change to voting procedure this year, I simply couldn't get some games on our list. So, here are the games I would've slammed into our advent calendar if I were still allowed to cheat, along with some that simply didn't quite make the cut. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, December 30, 2022 6:00 AM A little known fact is that all of the RPS staff are complex clockwork automata, designed and built by a little gnome with the kind of inch-thick glasses that make your eyes look comically large. We're each powered by a spell that lasts but 12 months, so every Christmas we fall over like sad marionettes. The gnome has to spend a couple of weeks trekking up a mountain to see the fairy who can recast the spells on us. You can help fund his sled dogs and provisions by becoming a member of the RPS supporter program. While he's away, we've prepared some Christmas Crackers for you. Time to enjoy your lovely joke! Siliconera Friday, December 30, 2022 9:30 AM On a regular basis, Masahiro Sakurai releases videos about game development to enlighten viewers, and the last one to appear in 2022 features him playing The Last of Us Part 1. Sakurai described it as a "like a let's play." The goal is for him to talk about UI and accessibility features, using Naughty Dog's game as an example. Sakurai begins by praising The Last of Us Part 1 for being user-friendly and citing how many options it offers people. Then, he jumps into playing the PS5 version while commenting on its accessibility. He then goes through the Accessibility menu's submenus, specifically singling out the Magnification and Visual Aids section. He mentions how the HUD scale is helpful, especially the preview window showing how it will look. He specifically referred to it by saying, "It's a quality-of-life feature within the quality-of-life features." He also looked at the Motion Sickness, Navigation and Traversal, and Screen Reader and Audio Cues sections. Sakurai also spent quite a bit of time showing the consideration that went into the custom control scheme setup as well. Here is the full "Modern Quality of Life Features [UI]" video in which Masahiro Sakurai plays The Last of Us Part 1. Before playing The Last of Us Part 1 for his final talk, a Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games video appeared talking about himself and his company. He explained why he founded Sora Ltd. and how it works. He's regularly offered such insights since founding his channel in August 2022. Though on one occasion, he also talked about his pet cat after fans "demanded" it. The Last of Us Part 1 is available on the PS5, and the PC version will appear on March 3, 2023. Siliconera Friday, December 30, 2022 8:00 AM While it is still early days for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, people are already beginning to customize the game. At the moment, only items that change peoples' appearance tend to be appearing. For example, Ninjagrime released two mods on Nexus Mods that allow Zack to cosplay as Cloud in Crisis Core, with the Advent Children and Remake outfits available to download. Here are two screenshots Ninjagrime shared on Nexus Mods showing how the Zack Remake Cloud Outfit looks in Crisis Core. The modder also shared a video showing it in-action. And this is how the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Cloud outfit looks on Zack. Likewise, there is a second video going over how it looks, with another Aerith mod showcased at the same time. Both of these appearance mods require the CCFF7R UTOC-PAK Patcher made by KeinZantezuken. Once that is installed, people can put the downloaded files into the SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\CCFF7R\CCFF7R\Content\Paks\~mods folder. Ninjagrime's Crisis Core mods lineup also includes ones for Aerith and Cloud. Each one changes their appearance so they wear their Final Fantasy VII Remake outfits. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is available for the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. The original game appeared on the PSP. Alear's mother, Lady Lumera, used to play with the creature when they were young. https://twitter.com/FireEmblemJP/status/1608010613371936769 The short Fire Emblem Engage video released by Nintendo also shows that the player can pet Sommie.
