On the prowl for a DBD killers tier list? Six years in, the Dead by Daylight character roster is bigger than ever, boasting a massive 30 killers at the time of writing, and a further 34 survivors. Thanks to that huge list of names, it's certainly difficult to keep track of who you should main. Combined with the 2022 overhaul of 40 killer and survivor perks which has completely shifted the game, there's even more to consider.

The joy of an asymmetrical horror game has always been the ability to be the bad guy. While there's certainly something thrilling about putting yourself in the shoes of a survivor (there must be a reason we all wonder how we'd do in a zombie apocalypse, right?), nothing gets the heart racing like shirking the lawful-good responsibilities of real life and taking on the role of a blood-thirsty killer. Every one of the following DBD killers has their own terrifying unique power, from ranged axe throws, to infectious bile and close-range chainsaw attacks. But which is best?      Multiversus tier list January 2023: best characters ranked

Are you looking for a Multiversus tier list? The Warner Bros fighting game is now in its second season, with players gaining access to some brand new characters. Soon, we'll know how the likes of Black Adam will compare to the most powerful characters on the roster, from DC Superheroes such as Batman and Wonder Woman to Cartoon Network favourites like Finn the Human and Steven Universe. Of course, we can't discount those throwback characters from Warner Bros' back catalogue of shows acquired over the years, including Shaggy and Velma from Scooby Doo.

With such an illustrious gathering of fighters, a Multiversus tier list was inevitable. Judging by other competitive fighting games, ranking which of these fighters are the best characters goes beyond looking at their individual abilities. Multiversus focuses on team-based combat, with each fighter broken down into roles such as Bruiser and Tank.

After months of pleading by the community, players can now unlock Genshin Impact outfits. This system was introduced in the Genshin Impact 1.6 update, but the developers have been slow to give every character an outfit.

One of the big questions surrounding the Genshin Impact outfits was how skins were planned to be distributed in the free PC game. As Genshin Impact locks characters behind gacha mechanics, players were worried that skins may be sold using the same system. There are two methods to unlock events: purchase the skin for 1680 Genesis Crystals, or complete a specific event.      Genshin Impact tier list January 2023: the best characters in 3.3

Looking for a Genshin Impact tier list? There are currently 59 Genshin Impact characters available, so there's no shortage of candidates for your dream team. But with so many different weapons, elementals, talents, ascension bonuses, and constellation upgrades, finding your favourites can be challenging.

Don't let the placement of the characters on our Genshin Impact tier list deter you from pulling on the next character banner. While base stats and elemental abilities are important, the value of a character also depends on personal playstyle, available weapons and artifacts, and team composition. That being said, if your favourite Genshin Impact character is in C tier or below, you may struggle to get past some of the more challenging Spiral Abyss floors. Don't worry too much if your favourite character is on one of the lower tiers; you can still make it work with our recommended Genshin Impact builds.

In general, being on a high tier means that the character is the best Genshin Impact character in their role, is not too difficult to build, and performs well regardless of teammates. Being on a lower tier means that there are better alternatives, or the character needs a very specific build or team to shine. Just to note, the characters are not ranked within their own tier, and with that out of the way, let's take a look at our ranking of characters in our Genshin Impact tier list.

Best battle royale games: what are the top BR games in 2023?

The best battle royale games come in all shapes and sizes, but they all revolve around one core idea: lots of players go in, and only one leaves. Battle royale is a violent, unpredictable, and frenzied multiplayer mode where the only goal is to endure until you're the sole survivor.

All tactics and styles of play are equally viable in the best battle royale games. You can win by hiding in bushes and waiting for the herd to thin out, or scavenge a weapon and start reducing the numbers yourself. With the explosion of Fortnite, Warzone 2, and Apex Legends, you would be forgiven for thinking there are only three battle royales out there, but there are now numerous other contenders to challenge them, each with its own spin on the established formula. And with player counts fluctuating all over the place, it's important to know the most popular battle royale games so you can be sure to get a match.

Whether you're after a battle royale FPS game like Warzone 2 or an inventive new twist on the formula, there's something out there for everyone. So, to help you broaden your horizons, we have assembled this handy guide to the best battle royale games on PC.

The Callisto Protocol

The Callisto Protocol is an interesting game, in relation to its development. Originally created to be connected to the PlayerUnknown's Battleground extended universe, this idea was eventually dropped, with the game becoming its own thing. Though I say that relatively loosely, as this action-horror title shares the same DNA as Dead Space, which isn't entirely surprising given its director, Glen Schofield. However, while The Callisto Protocol tries to bring players back to the PS3 era of grotesque survival horror, it can't seem to recapture what made those games interesting to begin with.

The Callisto Protocol begins with players watching camera footage of an outbreak that happened in the far reaches of space, with a broadcast concerning a terrorist organization already laying the foundation for one of several key characters. Players assume the role of Jacob Lee, a pilot for a freight transport service delivering cargo between Europa and the prison colony known as Callisto. While this is supposed to be Jacob's last job, things go awry as the ship crashes with the woman seen in the previous broadcast on the ship. This leads to Jacob's arrest and detention in Callisto while an outbreak infects the prisoners, resulting in their loss of self and transformation into something grotesque and barely human. Unfortunately, nothing about the narrative is particularly striking, and the callbacks to Dead Space (or similar threads) hold the game back from being its very own thing. Which may have helped bolster the story in some regards, but does little favors for it overall.

The Callisto Protocol

In regards to gameplay, the controls are clunky, even with the numerous patches that have rolled through to make gameplay a more streamlined experience. For example, before the patch players would be locked into an overlong animation to heal. With the patch, it's shortened significantly, but doesn't do much if you're in the middle of fighting two or more enemies at a time, which the game seems to have a problem balancing. Encounters can sometimes vary between handling two or more enemies at a time after you've gotten through the first thirty or so minutes of the game, in which it becomes a near constant onslaught of aggressive, humanoid creatures throwing themselves at you with reckless abandon. The Callisto Protocol doesn't necessarily facilitate itself towards these encounters, which is strange because it makes up a bulk of them.

While traversing the infested prison, there were several rooms found throughout that had up to three enemies in them. Before you get the ability to throw enemies into objects (or off of platforms) like in Dead Space, these areas are a chore. Taking several hits will result in instant death, with the over-exaggerated, grotesque animations drawn out to an unnecessary degree. Thankfully, you can skip these now through an update patch. While they were shocking at first, they just became annoying the longer I spent with the game. Also, since the game throws enemies at you that can one-hit kill you later, the difficulty options don't really matter.

Concerning combat, the key issue is largely with the dodging mechanic. Players must alternate between moving right and left, almost like a rhythm game, to avoid being hit. However, these dodges don't sync up with the direction the enemy is attacking. You literally just need to move right and left without moving the same direction twice, or you'll get hit no matter what you do. This is obviously confusing if you're basing your dodge on what your eyes are seeing, versus what the game has told you, and I never really got the hang of it.

While it tries to mix things up and make enemy encounters more energetic with the ability to take advantage of weak spots on enemies with quick firing your 3D printed firearm between melee blows with your electric baton, the gameplay falls into tedium quickly. The aforementioned ability to throw enemies into things didn't feel particularly satisfying, since charges are limited between item use. Throwing enemies off platforms felt cheap, almost like I wasn't supposed to, but the game facilitated its use anyways by some mistake. Throwing these foes into spiked walls resulted in killing them instantly, which was great, especially when dealing with lots of enemies at once.

However, the controls hold this experience back. It genuinely felt like I was playing a PS3 game in perhaps the worst way possible. While enemies rapidly approach you, sometimes sprinting and charging in your direction, controlling protagonist Jacob felt like I was wading through sludge. Having controls that work against the player in a horror game is something I feel that is generally fine, as it adds to the overall tension of the game and helps create a feeling of helplessness for the player. That said, The Callisto Protocol felt anything but that, and in the end I walked away frustrated and just happy to be over once the credits rolled.

But perhaps one of the most egregious things about the game was its overall performance on PC. Within the first fifteen minutes of playing the game crashed, which would have been fine were it not for it completely messing up my resolution to the point I had to hard reset my PC. This happened not once, but twice during my time with the game. There were also other issues that have now been patched, which involved the game caching whenever you'd get to a new area which resulted in massive frame drops. Thankfully, these were the only major technical issues I encountered.

The Callisto Protocol feels like a retread of the PS3 era of survival horror, but perhaps in the worst way possible. It's clear that this title was made with Dead Space in mind, as it shared the same creator, but it's also a look at how the genre has evolved since Dead Space was relevant. And while The Callisto Protocol's narrative is lackluster, the gameplay could have been something great and ultimately redeeming about it. Instead, it feels trapped in the past and a worse iteration of what inspired it.

The Callisto Protocol is immediately available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.

House in Fata Morgana Developer Announce Seventh Lair Remastered Switch Version

Another visual novel from the House in Fata Morgana developer Novect is heading to a new platform. In the company's "Greetings in 2023" message, it announced Seventh Lair Remastered for the Nintendo Switch. There's no release window for the game yet. The announcement only mentioned it will be released in the "near future."

Here's the official announcement direct from Novect's New Year's statement:

And we're actually planning to release a Nintendo Switch version of Seventh Lair Remastered! We will be able to release this version in the near future as well, so please wait for more details. (We did a lot of work behind the scenes last year!)

While not directly tied to The House in Fata Morgana or continuing that story, certain characters from that tale appear in new roles in Seventh Lair Remastered. For example, Michel is back, but this time he is an indie game developer called Dark†Knight. After intense criticism from "fans," he releases the game Seventh Lair on April Fool's Day. When he does, he and a number of the players (who are new takes on Mell and Nellie Rhodes) find themselves trapped in the world of the game.

Here's a trailer showing what to expect.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lz2vr8I9Uik&ab_channel=MangaGamer

The PC version of Seventh Lair appeared in March 2022, ahead of this upcoming Switch release. While there's no demo, it is temporarily on sale on Steam for 10% off. That brings the price down to $7.19 until January 5, 2023.

Seventh Lair is immediately available for PCs, and the Switch remaster is in development.

Genshin Impact Ayato Ascension and Talent Materials Can Give You Deja Vu

Ayato is one of those Genshin Impact characters whose Ascension and Talent materials aren't too taxing to get. However, depending on your past pulls, they may seem familiar. That's because both he and his sister, Ayaka, need some of the same items. In short, it means getting handguard drops from enemies, Elegance talent books from Inazuma's Violet Court, and lots of Sakura Bloom petals from around Narukami Island.

Which Ayato Ascension Materials Do You Need to Find in Genshin Impact?

A lot of Ayato's Ascension materials aren't difficult to get! You need 420,000 to go through all of them. That isn't terribly difficult to earn. You'll also need 46 Dew of Repudiation items dropped by the Hydro Hypostasis on Inazuma's Watatsumi Island. That same boss will also be a way to get the 1 Varunada Lazurite Sliver, 9 Varunada Lazurite Fragments, 9 Varunada Lazurite Chunks, and 6 Varunada Lazurite Gemstones needed for his ascensions.

The various Handguards you need are also not too difficult to find, given the Nobushi and Kairagi found on all Inazuma's islands drop them. (You can also "buy" them from the in-game Paimon's Bargains shop.) You need 18 Old Handguards, 30 Kageuchi Handguards, and 36 Famed Handguards.

It's the Sakura Blooms that can be a bit annoying. It's not because they're especially difficult to find or not plentiful. The pink "clouds" of petals are easy to spot both during the day and night on Narukami Island. In particular, they are around Chinju Forest, Grand Narukami Shrine and Inazuma City. Rather, you need an Electro character to use an Electro attack to centralize them so you can pick them up. (Keqing and Razor are great at this, but also so is Raiden Shogun or Sara.) You need 168 of them for Ayato total.

Which Ayato Talent Materials Do You Need to Find in Genshin Impact?

His Talent materials are very straightforward too! Each Talent will need 6 Old Handguards, 22 Kageuchi Handguards, 31 Famed Handguards, 3 Teachings of Elegance, 21 Guides to Elegance, 38 Philosophies of Elegance, 6 Mudras of the Malefic General, and a Crown of Insight, as well as 1,652,500 Mora.

Again, the Handguards are easy items to get. The Nobushi and Kairagi samurai around Inazuma drop them regularly. The three types of Talent Books also are fairly simple to get, provided you play on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays to collect them from Kannazuka Island's Violet Court domain.

The only "troublesome" item would be the 6 Mudra of the Malefic General that drop from the Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto weekly boss on Narukami Island. You need to beat Act 2 of Raiden Shogun's story quest to unlock it, first of all. Second, that material only drops from the level 70 boss fight. It's a random drop, as you could also get The Meaning of Aeons or Tears of the Calamitous God instead.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the Ayato rerun banner will appear until January 17, 2023.

Hololive Tempus Holostars

Tempus, the first Hololive all-male English VTuber unit, is about to go on a new adventure. The group debuted in July 2022, and a new teaser by Hololive Production's English branch suggests that it'll be going off in search of new friends.

The teaser was posted to the official Hololive English Twitter account on January 3, 2023. The video teased a reveal scheduled for January 4, 2023, at 7pm PST/10pm ET/12pm JST.

https://twitter.com/hololivepro_en/status/1610116238277054466

The clip opens with Tempus VTuber Regis Altare reciting text on screen. He refers to Elysium, the name of the digital world that serves as the home of Tempus, which is an Adventuring Guild. Regis says that "they had to make their move, to learn more about the world, and to find new adventures and some new friends." Exactly what this means for the group is unclear. It could be the debut of a new member. Or perhaps, some collaboration between the four or with other Hololive VTubers on a joint project.

The teaser then transitions to art of the group poring over various maps, in search of said adventure. In the Holostars Tempus back matter, Elysium is a digital world that symbolizes humanity's abandonment of corporeal existence. However, Elysium is threatened by a phenomenon called "Records Corruption." Tempus itself is an adventurer's guild, which makes its home in the city's most popular downtown pub.

Regis' spiel appears to reference the story told in Hololive Tempus' debut manga. In the manga, which is viewable on the official website, Regis awakes and begins seeking out fellows to join his party. These naturally include the other members of Tempus: Magni Dezmond, Axel Syrios, and Noir Vesper.

Hololive Tempus' new development will be revealed on January 4, 2023. The members' individual channels are viewable on YouTube.

Taito 70th Anniversary

Taito Corporation, one of the game industry's oldest companies, turns 70 years old this year. The company will be celebrating the Taito 70th Anniversary with a series of promotions and prizes. It has begun teasing some of these by opening a commemorative site and Twitter account for the occasion [Thanks, Famitsu].

At the moment, there are few concrete details on the Taito 70th Anniversary celebration plans. Late in December 2022, the company opened a Twitter giveaway awarding followers a special 2023 calendar. And on New Year's day, Taito's Pico Crepe restaurant began distributing novelty calendar postcards to customers. The postcards will change each month and feature art of classic arcade titles like Night Striker, Metal Soldier Isaac, Operation Wolf, and Elevator Action.

The company also announced that the Taito 70th Anniversary promotions will launch at all Taito Station arcades. Exclusive prizes will be awarded to participants at the arcades and via the Taito Online Crane game, as well. A 70th Anniversary "Commemorative Product" would also be sold. Taito promised more details as the various promotions approach their launch date.

The exact date of the Taito 70th anniversary is August 24, 2023. Taito's original founder was Michael Kogan, who opened Taitung in 1944 in Shanghai, China, to deal in wigs, hog bristles, and floor coverings. The company moved to Japan as Taito Yoko ("Taito" being the Japanese pronunciation of "Taitung"), where it distributed clothing. In 1953 Kogan was joined by Japanese businessman Akio Nakatani, and Taito Yoko relaunched as the Taito Trading Company, the first company in Japan to produce vodka.

By 1955 Taito had shifted to vending machines and jukeboxes, and then pre-video-game electro-mechanical amusements, such as 1967's pinball-like Crown Soccer Special. By the 1970s Taito became Taito Corporation, releasing a ping-pong arcade cabinet in 1973 called Elepong. Game designer Tomohiro Nishikado joined the company in 1968, and eventually created Space Invaders, one of the most popular arcade games of all time. Even today a Space Invader alien is part of Taito's most prominent imagery.

The Taito 70th Anniversary celebrations kick off through 2023. Last year's Taito Egret II Mini replicates a small-scale arcade experience as a mini-console.

Pokemon Violet Tera Raid

Nintendo announced new 4-star and 5-star Tera Raids for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Like it happened with the Tyranitar and Salamence raids, this time the Pokemon will be different depending on which version of the game you own, with Hydreigon being the chosen creature for Pokemon Scarlet, and Dragapult for Pokemon Violet. The Tera Raids will last from January 6-8, 2023. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The new Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Tera Raids follow the same format as the previous 4-star and 5-star raids. Different from the 7-star Charizard and Cinderace raids, the Tera Type for Hydreigon and Dragapult will be random each time the player fights them. Hydreigon's regular typing is Dark and Dragon, while Dragapult's is Dragon and Ghost.

https://twitter.com/famitsu/status/1609835160882774017

Hydreigon made its first appearance in Pokemon Black & White. It is described as a violent and destructive Pokemon, often associated with being evil incarnate. Many stories in the Pokemon world depict him as destroying entire villages.

Dragapult was introduced in Pokemon Sword & Shield. Their evolutionary line is described as being the ghost form of prehistoric aquatic Pokemon. Dragapults carry two small Dreepy inside their horns, which they shoot at great speeds to attack their opponents. Apparently, Dreepys greatly enjoy this activity.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available on the Nintendo Switch. Check out Siliconera's official review of the games.

A statuette of Urusei Yatsura heroine Lum is taking a bit of a "neo-classical" approach to the iconic character. The new Lum figure replicates her updated character design from the 2022 animated remake of Urusei Yatsura. [Thanks, Comic Natalie!]

The figure is made to 1/7th scale size and stands at 230mm tall (about 9" inches). Made of PVC and ABS plastic, it was created by Design Coco. Design Coco also created the life-size Usada Pekora figure on display in Animate Akihabara for New Year's.

The Lum figure is hand-colored and is designed to reflect Lum's design as seen in the new anime. The remake design is fairly close to the original, but most notably features a different approach to Lum's hair coloration. Other versions of the iconic character render her hair as a somewhat darker and flatter forest green. Thanks to the remake's coloration style, Lum's hair appears brighter, and has a gradient that makes it look like it glows. This is reflected in the coloring of the figure.

[gallery size="medium" ids="945507,945508,945509,945510,945511,945512" link="file"]

The figure also emphasizes the transparent qualities of the skin texture. Given the wealth of exposure provided by Lum's classic tiger-print bikini, skin texture makes up a goodly portion of the design. Lum is posed reaching back towards the viewer, while standing on a pedestal decorated with stars.

The Urusei Yatsura remake Lum figure is being sold via the Aniplex+ Online Store in Japan, with pre-orders going for 19,800 Yen (about $152 USD). Ordered figures are expected to be delivered by January 2024. The remake series itself can be viewed on HIDIVE.

Danganronpa Leaving Xbox Game Pass in January 2023

The official Xbox Game Pass update for the beginning of January 2023 isn't live yet, but we do know Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc will be among the games leaving this month. It is among five games that are expected to be removed from the service by about January 15, 2023. It first joined the service back in January 2022, meaning it spent about a year there for subscribers. [Thanks, Wario64!]

Here is the list of games leaving Xbox Game Pass in January 2023 so far.

  • The Anacrusis
  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc
  • Nobody Saves the World
  • Pupperazzi
  • Windjammers 2

There are still two other Danganronpa games on Xbox Game Pass even after the original leaves. Subscribers can still play Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. There's no word yet on when those will be removed from the service.

Another major Danganronpa update involved a loosening of streaming restrictions. In the past, people couldn't stream past the game's first chapter. Now that is lifted. People can play through the whole game, streaming all the way until the end.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices. The original game also appeared on the PSP and Vita. Xbox Game Pass subscribers still have just under two weeks with the original Danganronpa.

Dva How to use and change emotes in Overwatch 2Overwatch 2 has proven to be a successful sequel to the original hit multiplayer game. The first-person shooter brought many players back to the franchise, and invited new ones, thanks to its core gameplay, variety of modes and maps, and its eclectic selection of heroes. And because it's also free. Regardless, the range of designs, personalities, and gameplay provided by each hero is truly impressive. While it's fun to make the most of them in combat, players have also come to enjoy using emotes to communicate a thought or feeling they have with others, And here is how to use and change emotes in Overwatch 2. Emotes were a large part of the fun when it came to unlocking new cosmetics in the original Overwatch, and that hasn't changed in Overwatch 2. So, how do you use emotes during gameplay and change them when you feel like mixing things up? Using and changing emotes in Overwatch 2 To use an emote in Overwatch 2 you must be playing the game.      Persona Game Reveals 5 Royal AttackAlthough 2022 saw plenty of releases from Atlus, they mostly came in the form of straightforward ports and remasters. Soul Hackers 2, which received mostly mixed reviews at launch, served as the only outright new release by Atlus last year. "In 2023, we will start with the remastered releases of P3P and P4G, and we are also preparing several new unannounced titles," Atlus wrote. "Please look forward to it!"      What Does Mold Breaker Ability Do Pokémon Scarlet And VioletIt's no secret that a good ability can be the difference between a decent Pokémon and a top-tier Pokémon.
