Minecraft Legends sees the player take on the role of a legendary hero whose destiny is to unite the factions of the Overworld. If the Overworld doesn't unite in time, they won't be able to defend their homes against the Nether's Piglin army. Minecraft Legends was announced during the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase in June 2022, so it's still early days for the new project. Classic romantic adventure game Kanon is being remastered for the Switch and now has a release date in Japan, according to tipster Ryokutya2089. Based on a reveal in the upcoming issue of Weekly Famitsu, Kanon on Switch will land on April 20, 2023. [Thanks, Gematsu!] As detailed in previous reveals, Kanon on Switch will receive a few minor graphical updates, as more than twenty years have passed since its 1999 release. It'll run at an HD resolution of 720p and the in-game art will have adjustments to coloring to suit modern screens. However, the aspect ratio of the in-game art will not be changed from its original 4:3 dimensions. Games in 4:3 were more common back then, as it was the dominant aspect ratio for TVs. Over time trends shifted, and today 16:9 "widescreen" is the default on most TVs, PC monitors, and the Switch. To compensate, players will be able to scroll the screen up and down with the analog stick or touch screen. The game will also have full voice acting for almost the entire main cast. The one exception is protagonist Yuichi Aizawa, who will have partial voice acting. Kanon on Switch will be the 7th time the game has been released to a new platform. Since the PC release in 1999, Kanon has appeared on the Sega Dreamcast, Sony PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, pre-smartphone "feature phone" operating systems, Android, and on Apple's iOS. It has never received an official English-language release. That said, other games by developer Key have seen global releases, including Clannad, Planetarian, and Little Busters!. Kanon launches on the Nintendo Switch in Japan on April 20, 2023. No overseas versions have been announced as of yet. Hololive EN Vtuber Gawr Gura announced she will resume streaming in the next few weeks, following a health related hiatus. She took to Twitter with her latest update. There's no exact date for her return yet. However, she did note she will resume activities before February 14, 2023. Here's the official update from the performer. She also noted that she is currently in Japan, but didn't explain the purpose of the visit.
Back on December 21, 2022, Gawr Gura noted she would be taking a break from streaming for the sake of her health. A few days before that, she mentioned a doctor's visit. While she hasn't been following a schedule, she has been somewhat active online. For example, she took part in the Hololive Mario Kart New Year Cup tournament held back in January 2023. (However, she was not personally streaming it.) She also remained active on Twitter during her hiatus. Gawr Gura will end her hiatus and resume streaming by February 14, 2023. Some more information came out about how you will raise Trooper Cards and level up equipment in Like a Dragon: Ishin. Trooper Cards are a new combat mechanic that Ryoma Sakamoto can use. They can directly damage or debuff enemies, as well as buff Ryoma. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!] You can combine different Trooper Cards for greater effect. For example, Shinada's Trooper Card ability slows down time, whereas Haruka's Trooper Card ability will guarantee that all of Ryoma's attacks land a critical hit. However, because Haruka's ability is only effective for a short amount of time, you can combine her with Shinada to make more use of it. If there are Trooper Cards you do not need or have duplicates of, you can feed them to ones you want to keep to level them up. So building and levelling up your deck will be the key to success in Ishin. Mages plans on releasing The Quintessential Quintuplets: Gotopazu Story game for the PS4 and the Nintendo Switch. It will be a fully-voiced visual novel port of the puzzle mobage The Quintessential Quintuplets: The Quintuplets Can't Evenly Split a Puzzle. The shortened name of the smartphone game is Gotopazu. More information on Gotopazu Story will come out on February 10, 2023. [Thanks, Famitsu!] There will also be a new original theme song just for Gotopazu Story. While there is no teaser for the opening song or movie yet, we know who will sing it. Natsumi Takamori, who voices Raiha Uesugi, will be the singer. In Gotopazu, Raiha is the one who teaches you how to play. Masahiro Sakurai talked about the effect the COVID pandemic had on the team behind the development of Super Smash Bros Ultimate DLC content. He shared this information through his YouTube channel, called "Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games," through which he has been sharing his views and experience on video game development and design. At the time workers had to start working from home in early 2020, the SSBU development team had successfully completed the first Fighters Pass, and they were on the way to deliver a second volume. The second Fighters Pass increased the number of characters from 5 to 6, 7 if you count Pyra and Mythra as two different fighters, and with it the workload for the team. Some of these included workers not having the proper equipment, such as office chairs and desks, or lacking the appropriate internet quality to work. Likewise, Sakurai explained that he had to do fight tests for the game online, with the lag associated with it and not being able to test the conditions of the game in a local environment. Sakurai estimated that the effect of the COVID pandemic resulted in the development team working about 30% slower than they normally would. The people at Sora Ltd. decided to respond to the workers needs by supplying them with the equipment they needed to work comfortably.
