Looking forward to the Party Animals release date? If you've ever wondered what Gang Beasts would look like if it replaced its gelatinous beings with cute, cuddly animals, wonder no more.

Party Animals is a physics-based brawler that shot to the top of the Steam wishlist when it was first revealed in 2021. Since then it has hovered around the top spot, losing out to games like Starfield and Hogwarts Legacy. Despite long waits for news and lengthy delays, interest in the game, which looks set to become one of the best PC games, has never wavered.

Dead Space Remake review: a gloriously gory glow-up

Prior to tackling our Dead Space Remake review, I wasn't entirely convinced we needed a re-do. While the sci-fi horror romp is now almost 15 years old, its unique package of genre-defining mechanics and interstellar terror still holds up today. Thankfully, Motive has respectfully transformed the original concept into something that feels like a 2023 caper, all while retaining everything that still makes the original grotesquely brilliant.

The best FPS games on PC 2023

What are the best FPS games on PC? From the classic physics chaos of Half-Life 2 to Splitgate's mind-bending portal warfare, these are the finest FPS games. For more than two decades, FPS games have been the driving force of the PC games industry. They've let us travel from the depths of Hell in Doom to the outer reaches of space in Titanfall 2. Others have taken us on a detour through the likes of Half-Life 2's zombie-infested Ravenholm, while some have embraced futuristic cities.

Some of these games are old, others are new, and all are great. Wolfenstein 2's amazing campaign; Rainbow Six Siege's tight tactical multiplayer; Overwatch 2 and its vast array of amazing heroes. No matter what sort of virtual gunplay you're after, the following titles will satisfy your itchy trigger finger. So crack those knuckles, get ready to make all the headshots, and keep in mind that guns will solve all your problems in the following shooty gems. These aren't only just the best FPS games, some of these entries are included in our best PC games too.

Best Warzone 2 shotgun in Season 1 Reloaded

The best Warzone 2 shotgun might not immediately spring to mind when you think about the sprawling Al Mazrah and its high, long-distance vantage points. Still, you may be surprised about just how well it might serve you. After all, the map is dense with buildings, and you're likely to run into an opponent tucked into the corner of a room eventually. You will also certainly get more up close and personal once the storm circles close in.

The best shotgun in Warzone 2 is the Expedite 12. Provided your opponent isn't wearing three plates, the Expedite 12 can one-shot anyone within five metres in the battle royale game. However, we'd certainly recommend running Overkill - more on that in our guide to the Warzone 2 perk packages - so you can accompany your shotgun with one of the best Warzone 2 guns with a bit more range.

     Hogwarts Legacy companions explained

Hogwarts Legacy companions keep you company as you study your classes in the famous school, sit by your side as you grab a drink in Hogsmeade, and fight with you when taking on the dark wizards and terrifying evil of the wizarding world. It looks as though your companions won't be defined by your house either, as you make friends with each of these characters for their own individual story development.

Hogwarts Legacy is set to be one of the best PC games of 2023, and that is in some part due to the astounding amount of content we know is available. The huge, open-world Hogwarts Legacy map looks absolutely gorgeous, and the attention to detail that has gone into designing the world can be seen from the landscapes themselves to the common rooms and classrooms. There are loads of Hogwarts Legacy characters to get to know as well, and that's where our new Hogwarts Legacy companions come in, as (we assume) four fellow students are particularly crucial to your time in the adventure game.

Best Destiny 2 Hunter builds for PvP and PvE in Arc 3.0

The best Destiny 2 Hunter builds are more potent than ever. The game's introduction of aspects and fragments means players have tons of tools in their toolkits to customise their builds to conform with their playstyles.

Our Destiny 2 Hunter build guide takes a deep look at the numerous ways players can develop their characters, culminating in the most powerful builds possible in the free PC game. These are all based on the current Arc 3.0 meta, but some players find the Arc 3.0 overhaul weaker than Bungie granted with the Solar and Void revamps from the previous seasons. So, we've developed the strongest builds based on the tools we have at our disposal this season, perfect if you're going to take on the Iron Banner challenges.

Best Destiny 2 Titan builds for PvP and PvE in Arc 3.0

The best Destiny 2 Titan builds have changed significantly since subclass overhauls let players completely customise their builds. Aspects and fragments now let players stack builds in creative ways that astronomically impact damage, health, ammo drops, orb output, and more.

Our guide to the best Destiny 2 Titan builds highlights character strengths, addressing specifically what players need to succeed in PvP or PvE in the free PC game. They're based on the Arc 3.0 meta, but given that many players find the Arc 3.0 overhaul notably weaker than its Void and Solar precursors, the builds are not necessarily in the Arc elemental subclass. Here are the best Destiny 2 Titan builds for PvP and PvE in Arc 3.0.

     The best Minecraft skins 2023

The best Minecraft skins are a great way of making yourself stand out when playing on multiplayer servers. That's why one of the most important and popular aspects of Minecraft is your avatar skin - use it to represent yourself inside and outside the game, for screenshots, videos, multiplayer, and more… and just to feel that little bit less generic.

There are now more default Minecraft skins than ever with seven new characters added in 2022: Noor, Sunny, Ari, Zuri, Makena, Kai, and Efe. The new additions join Steve and Alex in an effort to make the game more representative, which is crucial when loading up any of the best PC games for the first time. However, once you're a few days in, you might prefer to shed your default skin in exchange for something a little more individual. If you aren't confident enough to make your own completely custom avatar, there are thousands of cool Minecraft skins that have been ready-made for you to download and apply in minutes, here's just a few of the best. Take note that all of these cool Minecraft skins are available to download right now on NameMC.

What are the best card games on PC? It is not a question we would have been asking a few years ago, when some basic ports of paper-based systems and some minigames in larger titles were all we had access to.

Now, there are heaps of games like Hearthstone vying to be among the best card games on PC - it is one of the fastest-growing genres in the industry. Card games offer players a rich and constantly shifting meta, potentially limitless replayability, and are approachable to boot - so it is not hard to see why they have started to emerge on our best PC games list. Shoulders Of Giants is out today on the Epic Games Store. When we first saw the trailer for Shoulders Of Giants, a few people on team responded with murmurings of "What the hell is this?", which increased in frequency and volume as more bizarre things appeared on screen. I sort of did what the Goonies do when they first find the map to One Eyed Willie's treasure, or what anyone in Pulp Fiction does when they open the briefcase: "Wooooaaaah."

Consider the progress of information. It's a sci-fi roguelike best played, I think, in 4-player online co-op. You play a sword-wielding combat mech. You also control a small frog standing on the mech. You drop onto proc-gen planets overrun by a kind of magical accelerated entropy, that turns everything black and pink and grey. By destroying totemic altars orbited by floating eyeball robots, you start to re-energise the planet, so areas have grass and butterflies. Eventually you will destroy enough totems to get to a planetary boss fight, which might be against, for example, a giant ghost samurai or a floating purple hand with an eyeball in it. It's mad, but I sure do wish more games were like this.

Season: A Letter To The Future begins with a goodbye. You wander around your home for the last time, choosing five objects which inspire deep memories that spur each of the five senses. You then place them into a cauldron one by one, your mother keeping a watchful eye. The ritual comes to an end and the result is a small glowing pendant that will protect you from the dangers of the outside world. "You must promise me never to take the pendant off," your mother says. The Goodbye ritual is finished, and you leave, knowing you'll never see your mother or your hometown ever again, all as the prophecy foretold.

It's a fantastic - if sad - start to Season, and gets straight to the heart of the adventure ahead of you. This is a world where prayers, rituals, and prophecies hold great weight, and where you'll be exploring the fragility and fickleness of memory. Underpinning everything is a deeply profound sense of melancholy - and here I was expecting some relaxing two-wheeling through lovely-looking landscapes. Well, turns out Season is a lot more than a pretty travelogue.

As for people who preferred the original Crisis Core PSP voice acting, there is an option for those playing on PCs. A modder named Svenchu released a mod that restores the original voice actors. It doesn't cover all moments present in-game. However, when applied, people can hear the past voice actors for Zack, Aerith, Cloud, Genesis, and Sephiroth.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.

Persona 5 Dancing Ann Tamaki Figure Pre-orders Open in North America

It will now be easier for people to get the Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight Ann "Panther" Tamaki figure outside of Japan. Good Smile Company announced pre-orders are open for it in its North American storefront. It is part of its Partner Products segment. It costs $152.99 and is expected to ship in November 2023.

As a reminder, Phalaeno is the company behind this Persona 5 Dancing Ann figure. It opened pre-orders in Japan back in December 2022. At the time, it would cost ¥22,000 (~$163) to get.

Since its announcement, a number of other opportunities to get a better look at the figure appeared. For example, AmiAmi shared a video showing off Ann from different angles.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTBceekK73A&ab_channel=%E3%81%82%E3%81%BF%E3%81%82%E3%81%BF%EF%BC%9C%E3%83%9B%E3%83%93%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B7%E3%83%A7%E3%83%83%E3%83%97%EF%BC%9E_%E3%83%84%E3%83%B4%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4

This isn't Ann's default costume in Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight. In-game, you first need to complete the "Last Surprise" song in order to unlock the ability to get it. However in October 2021, a figure of Ann in her default costume did appear. That was released by Good Smile Company proper and is a standard scale figure. There have also been numerous Nendoroids, figmas, and other figures of both her and other members of the cast over the years.

Persona 5 Dancing is available for the PS4 and Vita. This new Ann Tamaki Persona 5 figure will appear in North America in November 2023.

February 2023 Splatoon 3 Splatfest Involves Chocolate

Nintendo announced the February 2023 Splatoon 3 Splatfest. On February 11, 2023, a chocolate-based one will begin. Both the European and Japanese Twitter accounts confirmed the event. However, the North American one has yet to announce it.

Here's the official reveal. As expected from the theme and dates, this will run over Valentine's Day. Shiver's side is Dark Chocolate, Frye's is Milk Chocolate, and Big Man supports White Chocolate.

As a reminder, the last Splatoon 3 Splatfest appeared in January 2023. That tasked players with choosing to join the spicy, sweet, or sour team in-game.

This marks the fourth Splatfest to appear in-game since its launch. The initial one involved if someone would bring gear, grub, or fun to a deserted island, with Shiver and gear winning. The second was a Pokemon starter theme, with grass, fire, and water as the teams. (Big Man and water won.) January's spicy, sweet, and sour event resulted in Frye and Team Sweet getting a win. The ahead-of-launch Splatfest was a rock-paper-scissors one.

Splatoon 3 is available for the Nintendo Switch.

Fuga Melodies of Steel 2

CyberConnect2 uploaded the first full trailer for its upcoming tank-based tactical sim Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2. The trailer also confirms the Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 release date. It'll arrive on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on May 11, 2023.

Check out the Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 trailer below.

Note: The trailer contains spoilers for Fuga: Melodies of Steel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hydneoxIkJ0

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 is a sequel to 2021's Fuga: Melodies of Steel, and its story will build off hints dropped in a "Secret Video" found after completing the first game. The story takes place a year after the events of Melodies of Steel. The children who won the war with the giant tank Taranis have returned home to live in peace. Unfortunately, half of the group are trapped within the Taranis as it goes on a rampage. To save and avenge their kidnapped kin, Malt and the remaining children board the Tarascus, a counterpart to the Taranis that was piloted by the children's foe, General Hax.

Melodies of Steel 2 will incorporate enhancements and new twists on the systems and weaponry introduced in the first game. Onboard the Tarascus, Malt and his companions can use the Managarm, a new weapon that presents an alternative to using the Soul Cannon, which consumed the soul of a child to fire. The Managarm feeds off a child's lifeforce, incapacitating them for the battle when fired. New and improved skills will be introduced. A "Judgment" system will add reactivity to Malt's decision-making, as well as unlock new Leader Skills to use in combat. Expeditions, battle routes, and notebook tasks will also allow the children to build up their combat strength outside of battle.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 launches worldwide on May 11, 2023 for the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Check out Siliconera's review of the first game.

Samurai Shodown Rollback beta

SNK Global officially set a schedule for its upcoming test o rollback netcode implementation in Samurai Shodown. A new announcement posted to the company's official Twitter account announced that the Samurai Shodown Rollback Beta test will take place on February 10, 2023. It will run for a week, and conclude on February 17, 2023. The exact time will be announced closer to the kickoff date. All announced time zones are in Japan time (GMT+9). The beta test is exclusive to PC via Steam, but the implementation is planned for the PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One versions of the game, as well. No rollback implementation has been announced for the existing Nintendo Switch edition.

SNK Global also announced that the test is open to all players that own a PC copy of Samurai Shodown. The test will involve the full game roster, including DLC characters. Players that don't own those characters yet will have a chance to test them out alongside the Samurai Showdown rollback beta.

https://twitter.com/snkpofficial/status/1618428515581399040

Netcode like the kind being implemented for the Samurai Shodown rollback beta test is a widely-requested feature in fighting game circles. Though more complex and difficult to implement on the development side, rollback is the preferred style of netcode to use for online matches, because it is able to handle adverse network conditions more effectively than the simpler "delay-based" netcode. Delay netcode was more common in Japanese-made fighting games for a time, in part because many fighting games treated online play and the international scene as extraneous.

As fighting games breached a global audience and began making their main homes on home consoles and PC, it became more common to implement rollback by default. Even now older games are being retrofitted with rollback. Cygames and Arc System Works claimed they had to "rebuild" Granblue Fantasy Versus into the recently-announced Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising in order to implement rollback and cross-platform play.

Samurai Shodown is available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The rollback test will take place on PC via Steam from February 10 to 17, 2023.

yamaguchi shimonoseki pokemon covers lids

Four new Pokemon manhole covers have appeared in Shimonoseki City in the Yamaguchi Prefecture of Japan. They feature Empoleon, Wailmer, Chinchou, Qwilfish, Ekans, and Koffing. In particular, the municipal government has chosen to display the Ekans and Koffing manhole covers in Ganryu-jima. That is the location of the legendary duel between Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro. [Thanks, Inside Games!]

https://twitter.com/Pokemon_cojp/status/1618141626706059266?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1618141626706059266%7Ctwgr%5E5bff440abfcd3fe2b072c7ac1249f2e7e2e0a432%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.inside-games.jp%2Farticle%2F2023%2F01%2F25%2F143425.html

The Japanese names of Jessie and James are Musashi and Kojiro, respectively. They are references to Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro, who are two famous swordsmen from the Tokugawa period. In April 1612, Miyamoto and Kojiro dueled at Ganryu-jima, with Miyamoto emerging the victor. Ekans and Koffing were the partner Pokemon of Jessie and James since the Pokemon anime started airing, though they eventually evolved to Arbok and Weezing. To hammer home the Team Rocket reference, you can see the tip of Meowth's tail in the Koffing manhole cover.

The Pokemon Company International frequently partnered up with Japanese cities as part of the Local Arts initiative. Fukuoka unveiled manhole covers featuring Pokemon like Dugtrio and Gardevoir in 2021. Meanwhile, Ojiya City decorated the streets with Magikarp, and Hokkaido had lots of Vulpix manhole covers.

You can find the Team Rocket Pokemon manhole covers in Shimonoseki. You can also look at them all, as well as their precise locations, through the Poke Lids website.

gundam witch from mercury side story characters

An official gaiden for Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury will start in Spring 2023. This will be the first official spin-off for The Witch From Mercury since the show started in 2022 and involve new characters. It will focus on a new witch and her assistant, who is a young boy. Their character designs appeared in the March 2023 issue of Monthly Gundam Ace. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

Mogmo, who designed the characters from Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, is still the designer for the side story. It will start Vilda Milen, who is a new witch and a researcher from Vanadis. She somehow survived the Vanadis Incident, which we saw in the Prologue for The Witch From Mercury. With her is a young boy named Kiyu Rabbot. Kiyu is her assistant and the two of them travel around Earth in a trailer. While pictures of the two are not online yet, Kiyu has dark skin, silver hair, and red eyes. It is unclear if there is any significance to his unconventional character design.

Though Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury had a Prologue episode and an online short story separate from the actual show, this will be the first piece of media in the universe completely separate from Suletta's story. The Prologue focused on the Vanadis Incident, which took place when Suletta was a child. The short story is also set during that era.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury is available for streaming via Crunchyroll, and the side story will start in Spring 2023. Incidentally, the second season will start in April 2023.

Sword Art Online Asuna figure

Genco announced a massive new figure based on Asuna Yuuki in her "Stacia, Goddess of Creation" appearance from Sword Art Online Alicization. The massive SAO statue will be a 1/4th scale one, which translates approximately 18 inches. It will cost 132,000 yen (roughly $1,020.) The pre-order period will last from January 25, 2023 until February 28, 2023. The expected release date is July 2023. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

The 18 inch tall figure is based on Asuna's "Stacia, Goddess of Creation" form. This is the appearance that the character adopts during Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld, the second part of the anime adaptation of SAO that covers the second part of the Alicization Arc. Particularly, War of Underworld adapts from volume 15 of the light novels, titled Alicization Invading, to volume 18, titled Alicization Lasting.

You can get a closer look at the figure here:

Good Smile Company released a different figure of Asuna in her Goddess of Creation form back in November 2022. While this statue was smaller, being 1/7th scale in size, it was also considerably cheaper.

The new Sword Art Online Alicization figure of Asuna's "Stacia, the Goddess of Creation" will come to Japan in July 2023. Pre-orders are open until February 28, 2023. The statue is available exclusively from the Japanese Amazon Genco store website.

Gacha Machine Backpack

Takara Tomy Arts started accepting pre-orders for a backpack inspired by gacha machines. It even includes a gimmick mechanism that allows people to turn the handle of the bag. However, no capsules will come out of it. The backpack is modeled after the Gacha.2 EZ machine, and it will cost 9,900 yen (roughly $76). The pre-orders will last until February 26, 2023. You can pre-order the backpack from the Takara Tomy Arts official website, only in Japan. [Thanks, Denfaminicogamer!]

The transparent window on the exterior of the backpack can be used to display different illustrations and is fully customizable. Meanwhile, the gimmick handle replicates the same clicking feeling of a genuine gacha machine when turning it. The backpack also includes 10 empty gacha capsules to be used as desired. Pre-orders start on January 25, 2023 and end on February 26, 2023. The planned release date for the backpack is July 2023. You can check out how the backpack will look below.

[gallery link="file" columns="2" ids="948405,948406"]

This is the second product in the "Let's Play Gacha Project" line of merchandise. The first one was gacha-themed t-shirts. This line of merchandise focuses on the "capsule" aspect of capsule toys, instead of the toys themselves. The backpack is a near identical reproduction of Takara Tomy's iconic gacha machines. Fortunately, you won't have to carry an entire plastic machine on your back, as this item is made out of cloth and lighter materials.

In December 2022, Takara Tomy Arts released a new wave of "Forest Pokemon" capsule toys which included Pinsir, Treecko, Butterfree, and Bulbasaur.

Warzone 2 Season Two updateCall of Duty: Warzone 2 Season 02 is just around the corner and Activision has outlined numerous updates that are on the way. Some, you may recognize from the original Warzone, while tweaks specifically to Al Mazrah should bring about greater balancing. Season 02 will see the return of the 1v1 Gulag and the Domination-style flag control point, which will replace the Jailer. To ensure the Gulag is better suited to 1v1 combat, some adjustments will be made to the map. Also, Gulag loot will be altered, removing shotguns from the rotation and adding assault rifles, submachine guns, and light machine guns. Cash will spawn in the Gulag to reward you for moving around the arena. If you achieve the gulag victory, expect to be granted more cash to get you back in the action as soon as you return to the battlefield.      Season A Letter To The Future Review 1Season: A Letter to the Future is a lot of things. It's a game about introspection, appreciating where you come from, and deciding what to leave to future generations. But it's also about scrapbooking. In fact, the scrapbook your character makes is their "letter to the future." The game lasts from four to six hours to complete depending on how quickly you decide to go through. However, that time is meant to be taken in at a leisurely pace, not something where you run to the ending as quickly as possible. And I must say, it's quite relaxing and enjoyable to play it the former way. Season starts with the main character leaving their home. The setting is post-apocalyptic, and the protagonist Estelle lives with her mother in a small village. Her mother makes a pendant for her child by sacrificing memories. Its purpose? To protect her child from danger. Soon afterward, Estelle sets out on a journey to document the world. Much of the lore in Season: A Letter to...
