In recent years I've come to accept that I just don't love open-world games. It's partially because my life has only gotten busier and I have less free time to spend on games, so I gravitate towards shorter experiences.      How to play Minecraft snapshots – snapshot 24w09a

How do you install and play a Minecraft snapshot? These snapshots are the very first iteration of Minecraft updates, and are a way for Mojang to test out bug fixes, technical changes, and new mechanics before officially rolling them out. Anyone with the Java edition of the creative game can try these features without any risk to your current world, so let's find out how to be the first to try the next big Minecraft update.

During Minecraft Live each year, the next big Minecraft update is revealed to the community. In past years, we've had the likes of the Caves and Cliffs update, The Wild Update, and the Trails and Tales update - each of them overhauling the base game with new Minecraft biomes, blocks, and mobs. Since these updates come with so much new content, they need to be tested out first, and that's where Minecraft snapshots come in. Use them to test out new experimental features before anyone else, and feedback to Mojang if you have any issues. It's a win-win situation.

What are the best Starfield mods? Mod support is an important part of many PC games, especially RPG games. Skyrim has endured all these years partly because it's a great game, partly because Bethesda keeps releasing it on hitherto unknown gaming platforms, but also because it's powered by a vibrant and creative modding community.

Thankfully, Starfield mod support has technically been available since before the Starfield release date rolled around thanks to early access. If you're playing Starfield Game Pass, you may experience some difficulty installing all of the mods we've listed below. For maximum compatibility, you're going to want the Steam version of the game.

Disney Dreamlight Valley recipes list and how to cook them

What are all the Dreamlight Valley recipes? Cooking is crucial to success in the Disney life sim as you'll need to cook up some tasty grub to earn Dreamlight, make friends, and keep your stamina up. There are over 190 recipes in the base game so far, and even more in the DLC - that's a lot of recipes to keep track of. Luckily, once you've made a recipe once it automatically saves to your in-game cook book, so we're here to fill your recipe book up to the brim.

The way to the hearts of all the Dreamlight Valley characters can be found through their stomachs, but it's equally important to keep yourself well-fed, too. Some Dreamlight Valley recipes - like the Dreamlight Valley bouillabaisse recipe - offer more stamina than others, and while some can be obtained from completing quests, such as Remy's Dreamlight Valley ratatouille recipe and Minnie's picnic favorites: crudites and fish sandwiches, others are unlocked by trying different ingredients together. To make it easier to get the most nutritious meals, we've compiled all the current Dreamlight Valley recipes below, with five-star recipes offering the most energy.

     The best Elden Ring builds

What are the best Elden Ring builds? The first 20 levels shape your entire class, so selecting your stats carefully is essential. While placing some stat points into faith as an Astrologer may be tempting, you're probably better off committing to the full sorcery build to maximize your damage in the late game.

But what are the best Elden Ring builds? Well, some loadouts - such as the Hoarfrost Stomp build - aren't as powerful as they used to be, but new ones rose to take their place, such as Swarm of Flies. If you've found that your build has been nerfed, never fear - grab a specific Elden Ring Great Rune, and you'll be able to unlock character respec, and you can simply create a new one!

     All Disney Dreamlight Valley characters

Who are all the current Dreamlight Valley characters? An array of Disney characters will join you on your adventure in this adorable life sim, as you become buddies with familiar faces from your favorite animated movies. We've been playing the game for some time now, and have gotten to know everyone in the game so far, so we can help you befriend them all.

While Dreamlight Valley is a life sim, it is also very story driven, and some of the characters you come across make up part of that story. Others can be chosen and unlocked in any order from inside the Dream Castle - though you'll want to read our Disney Dreamlight Valley guide beforehand, as it recommends you spend your Dreamlight on something else before unlocking too many realms. Here though, we go through all the Disney Dreamlight Valley characters you'll come across in the story, those you can rescue from their realms, and the ones we're yet to meet.

February 28, 2024: We checked for new NBA2K24 codes to add to our list.

What are the active NBA 2k24 codes? Every new game in the 2K sports series has a selection of freebies given away, and the latest in 2K's basketball games is no exception.      Best wireless mechanical keyboard 2024

What is the best wireless mechanical keyboard? Using a wireless mechanical keyboard is a great way to cut the cord while embracing the benefits of clicky or linear switches - they're not only super satisfying to use, but their sturdy design means that they last a lot longer than standard keyboards. The wireless models get you all of those benefits in addition to not having to worry about cable management.

It's pretty difficult to tell the difference between the best gaming keyboard and its cordless counterparts aside from the lack of wire. Not only does help you manage cables at your gaming desk without compromise, but you might even be able to save a USB port if your dongle supports multiple wireless peripherals from the same brand and the setup comes with fewer caveats than you'd expect.

I don't think I've fully recovered from my time with Skull And Bones, having suffered tremendously as a result of the review. There might be fun in some of its slower moments, but some of the generally positive, "It's actually quite a good game!" takes that I've seen honestly baffle me. The game is a series of long, annoying journeys, during which the most fun I had was turning my head to watch Catfish on my other monitor. A long time ago on a desktop far, far away, my family once owned a demo disc for the original Star Wars: Dark Forces. I cannot remember for the life of me which level(s) it contained. My only surviving memory of it is having quite a good time blasting Stormtroopers and the chaps in black with the swoopy, knock-off Vader helmets, but also getting terribly lost and not really knowing what the heck I was meant to be doing. Now, playing Nightdive Studio's Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster as an adult probably close to three decades later, both these feelings have come roaring back, as this is very much a Star Wars FPS in the vein of Doom and other early 90s shooters (thumbs up). But it's one that leans so hard into its maze-like level design that it can regularly feel like a little bit of a tough hang in the cold hard light of 2024 (thumbs down).

Crucially, though, not to the point where it's best left consigned to the history books. This is still an enjoyable and worthwhile artefact in Star Wars' PC gaming history, and if your eyes (and general patience levels) can't quite stomach the 'Classic' and still available 1995 original, then this remaster is a pin-sharp glow-up for modern hardware.

You may wish to experiment with turning the brightness up and down, playing the video backwards, or watching it again at the next full moon, perhaps while standing in a cemetery loudly declaring that ghosts aren't real.

Kingdom Hearts acrylic stands

New acrylic stands of Sora and Kairi from Kingdom Hearts have appeared in the Square Enix store. All of the stands are of them from the title screens.

Aside from acrylic stands of the two playable protagonists, there are also stands of the box art of the various games. The character stands cost $14.99 each whereas the box art stands cost $34.99. There does not seem to be a cut-off date for pre-ordering, and they will all come out in August 2024.

All of the acrylic stands have names based on what they're doing rather than what game they're from. For example, the art of Sora from Kingdom Hearts III where he's looking at a Paopu fruit like the one tied to Kairi is Promise. Meanwhile, the one of him and Roxas eating ice cream together from Kingdom Hearts II is Late Summer.

These acrylics are not the only pieces of Kingdom Hearts merchandise that the Square Enix store announced recently. The Japanese store will re-release the Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories playing cards in April 2024, and they will also release plush dolls of the main Destiny Island trio in June 2024. Again, the Japanese store will release roomwear based on the Kingdom Hearts characters, including King Mickey. These items will come out on February 29, 2024.

The Kingdom Hearts acrylic stands are available for pre-order and they'll come out in August 2024.

parasyte the grey

Parasyte: The Grey, a live-action series based on the Parasyte manga, will premiere on April 5, 2024. It will be a Netflix exclusive.

This will be a Korean series, which means that the cast and staff are mostly from Korea. Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan) will be the director. It will star Jeon So-nee (Soulmate) as Jung Soo-in, Koo Kyo-hwan (Peninsula) as Seol Kang-woo, and Lee Jung-hyun (A Petal) as Choi Jun-kyung. The promotional poster for the show has Jeon's character looking at the camera while a parasitic creature emerges from her face.

Parasyte was originally a manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki, which ran from 1989 to 1994. It focuses on high school senior Shinichi Izumi, who forms a co-operative relationship with a parasite that tried to take over his brain. He managed to prevent this from happening, sequestering the parasite into his right arm. There have been multiple adaptations for Parasyte, including two live-action films and an series series. It is one of the best-selling manga of all time.

According to a Netflix press release, the plot of Parasyte: The Grey will differ from the original manga. This is quite obvious even from the casting. While the manga starred a male high school student, the TV series will focus on a girl. Netflix states that the show will be "set in a locale with fresh characters" and that it'll "chart its own unique course while maintaining the imaginative world and profound message of the beloved manga."

Parasyte: The Grey will be an exclusive on Netflix and you'll be able to watch it from April 5, 2024.

Interview: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Director Discusses Telling A New Story With A Classic JRPG

On the day the reviews for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth came out, I was lucky enough to sit down with the game's director, Naoki Hamaguchi. During our hour-long discussion, the passionate developer touched on the challenges of remaking a beloved classic JRPG, how side characters like Cissnei were added to the game, and his feelings about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's bold ending.

However, what stood out to me the most in this conversation was that Hamaguchi, above all else, is a massive fan of the original Final Fantasy VII. Like millions of players worldwide, the Japanese developer fell in love with the PlayStation classic when he first played it in high school. Decades later, the fan has now been given the opportunity to lead the modern retelling of Final Fantasy 7, and he truly understands the weight of the project and what it means to so many players. Here is my discussion with Hamaguchi-san.

Brent Koepp: How challenging was it staying faithful to the original Final Fantasy VII story while also using Rebirth to make changes to tell a new story?

Naoki Hamaguchi: So, seeing that this is a trilogy - and of course, in Final Fantasy VII Remake, we were able to tell this story and express this in great detail - I think this was a very satisfying experience for players. But if we were just to have a sort of continuation, the same way along the second and third title, I think it would be difficult to sustain interest in the players.

We believed that it was important to enact some changes and differences within the remake series that are quite different from the original Final Fantasy 7. This is depicted by the Whispers and their presence within Remake, and for Rebirth, Zack becomes a key figure in this position of sort of symbolizing change. In that way, keeping this kind of excitement and anticipation as we move forward toward the following title in the trilogy, I believe, was quite important for us.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has a diverse amount of different gameplay sections. Such as Barret using his gun to clear blocked paths or Yuffie using her grappling hook for traversal. How important was it to give each character their own section of the game?

Naoki Hamaguchi: So, when we kind of think about the Final Fantasy VII story in general, of course, it kind of centers around Cloud. Within the original, he was the central character, and there are no moments where you can remove Cloud from the party. He's somewhat always there. FF7 has a feast of wonderful characters, each with so many fans around them, and we took into consideration that some of the fans of the other team members may not always wish to play as Cloud, and they may want to play with their favorite character. So we kind of took this into mind while still keeping Cloud as a protagonist within the story of Rebirth.

We wanted to find a way where we could let the unique characteristics of each team member shine in ways in which they can use their unique skills. Whether that's finding their way out of a dungeon or in combat. So, in thinking about this, I worked together with Nojima-san to discuss the overall game structure. From there, I had my own requests, like I would like to do "this area, this certain way with these specific characters," and I had these sorts of suggestions. And so we went from there, and that's how the different character sections in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth came to be.

Many supporting characters didn't originally appear in Final Fantasy VII, such as Cissnei, who show up in Rebirth. How did you choose which characters from other games would appear?

Naoki Hamaguchi: So, in terms of Cissnei in particular, speaking on the Remake series as a whole, so Rebirth and Remake, we definitely wanted to incorporate characters from Final Fantasy VII Compilation titles. But we also wanted to have them be introduced in a way that isn't abrupt to players who are experiencing the game. We wanted the supporting characters to align with the storyline of the Remake series. And that was definitely intentional on our end.

As far as Cissnei's character, when we received Nojima-san's initial script for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, you know she was already written within the plot. And I think this was also to do with Zack and Cissnei's explosive popularity among the community, too. So, their presence in the game was confirmed early on in marketing. And I, too, was excited when I found out that she appears in Rebirth, and I read her in the script. I was pretty surprised. I was like, "Wow, she's really in here!"

Overall, I think Cissnei being added was a great result, and we had positive feedback about that. And within the game's quests as well, we wanted to have it not only be quests for the sake of it being a quest. But through these, we wanted to show more of the characters' backgrounds. We wanted to explore "How do people live in this world of FF7?" That was something we really wanted to dig into for this title. Having characters from Remake that people wanted to see again, such as Kyrie, was also important. We wanted to be able to show more of these characters and touch more on their backstory.

As a side note, right up to when we showed the final trailer for Rebirth and were doing other press interviews, we had so many comments and questions from the media and fans asking, "Is Cissenei going to be in Rebirth?". [Laughs] And, of course, I couldn't say anything until the final trailer came out! This is the first time actually getting to talk about it. I'm so happy I finally get to talk about her.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q56cRDseTGQ

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has many emotional moments. There were certain story moments that got me choked up. How did working with voice actors allow you to expand on key pivotal scenes from the original game?

Naoki Hamaguchi: The Japanese voice recording is quite essential in that we have a director who specifically directs the voice actors. Since this deals with the game's characters, Nomura-san and Toriyama-san are also involved in making sure that the characteristics and essence of each character are captured faithfully by the voice actors. So we will look into even the finer details, such as how long a character speaks, each utterance, or the tones of their voices.

And we will make sure the performance is fitting of the character. We will all kind of work on this. Once this is complete and we have the Japanese voices, we then pass this on to other regions for them to record in their own languages. And so, the Japanese voice is always the foundation with which we would like other languages and voices to align. So, other recordings in different languages are kind of done with the original Japanese voices in mind. In that way, the original Japanese recording was a key part.

One of Rebirth's most exciting features is the Affinity system and how characters feel towards Cloud. Will decisions players make in Rebirth carry over to the next game? Or are these relationships and choices more specific to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?

Naoki Hamaguchi: So in terms of whether Affinity will carry on from Rebirth to the following title, while I am unable to speak or divulge further or answer clearly on this topic, of course, we want to continue to explore the relationship between Cloud and himself, and his relationship with other characters. So, of course, whether that will be done in the form of another Affinity system or something else, that is something to be looked forward to. But that is something we are not exploring at this time.

At the end of Final Fantasy VII Remake, there is a massive surprise when Zack is revealed to be still alive. Without getting into story spoilers, are you excited to see how fans will react to the ending of Rebirth? Nervous?

Naoki Hamaguchi: [Laughs] To answer your question, I would say half-excited, half-nervous. I'm almost 50/50 really! [Laughs] You know, there will be just a ton of varied conjecture and individual interpretation on the ending of Rebirth, so I'm really excited to see what people feel and what kind of emotion players that experience this game will have.

But at the same time, I'm nervous about what they could possibly be thinking. From a creator's perspective, I do think, along with my team, we're very much confident about putting Final Fantasy VII Rebirth out. And so, in that way, I'm very excited and can not wait for the release! So until then, I'm very excited and anticipating to see how the players will take it and what their response will be.

Following the interview, I also had the privilege of attending a special movie screening of Advent Children. Hundreds of fans excitedly packed into the theater to watch the beloved 2005 movie. Those in attendance were stunned when Naoki Hamaguchi himself showed up to the screening to thank them for their support of the franchise.

However, the screening of Advent Children had a much deeper meaning as the Square Enix developer revealed the film's impact on both Remake and Rebirth. According to Namaguchi and original Final Fantasy VII director Yoshinori Kitase, it was Advent Children that made the team dream of one day bringing Cloud Strife's story to life with beautiful graphics and a more expanded story.

I walked away from my interview confident that Naoki Hamaguchi and his team are the right people to lead this beloved franchise. Like all of us, he is not only a lifelong fan of Final Fantasy VII, but he also understands what made the original so special. Above all else, Square Enix seems deeply passionate about the remake trilogy, as everyone in the office, from PR to marketing, was on pins and needles, excitedly anticipating Rebirth's launch. As someone who has already beaten Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, I can say that the reimagining is not only just as magical as the original, but it somehow manages to surpass it in many ways.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launches on PlayStation 5 on February 29th, 2024.

honkai star rail sparkle jing yuan banners

Information on the upcoming Sparkle and Jing Yuan banners in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.0 Phase II have come out. You will be able to pull for them from February 29, 2024 to March 26, 2024.

The four-stars who will have a rate-up are Sampo, Qingque, and Hanya. All three of these characters fit well with Sparkle's kit. For reference, Sparkle's kit really focuses on SP. Not only can she passively grant an extra SP, she can also help to recover it and boost DMG based on how many SP you've used. This matches well with Qingque, who is very SP-hungry, and Sampo, who needs to use his Skill every turn. Hanya, in the meantime, can also help to restore SP while also providing boosts to a single character.

Sparkle will be a five-star Quantum Harmony character. While she has appeared in the Penacony story in Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.0, Sparkle will become playable for the first time in the Phase II banner.

Meanwhile, Jing Yuan initially appeared in Phase II of Version 1.0 of the game. He is a five-star Lightning Erudition character, and his kit revolves around giving stacks to Lightning Lord, who can then deal damage to all characters on his turn.

Honkai: Star Rail is readily available on the PS5, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Sparkle and Jing Yuan will appear in the Honkai: Star Rail gacha from February 29, 2024 and the banners will end on March 26, 2024.
