PCGamesN Wednesday, May 29, 2024 3:09 PM Attempting to play the forefathers of the RPG genre in 2024 requires patience steeped in a hefty amount of nostalgia. From the days of Ultima and the first Baldur's Gate, the genre has developed quality-of-life features that have made it difficult to turn back the clock by two or more decades. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 29, 2024 11:53 AM Who are the upcoming Multiversus characters? With a pretty sizeable roster already, the popular platform fighter is back as of its official launch. We already know of at least one new Multiversus character coming soon to the fighting game, and it'll be fascinating to see where they end up on the Multiversus tier list. With a character list as big as this one is, though, balancing is tricky. We also ran a thought exercise during the beta in trying to predict which Warner Bros characters would eventually make it to this platform fighter's roster. PCGamesN Wednesday, May 29, 2024 11:37 AM What are the best stealth games? Occasionally, the best stealth games are their own thing, resulting from a developer channeling all the mechanics into the suspense and satisfaction of killing, stealing, and infiltrating unnoticed. Most of the time, though, stealth is just one of several ways to navigate a game, as you consciously opt for the path of the shadowy rogue or incisive assassin over more forceful approaches. Nothing beats the thrill of doing things on the down low, which is why some of these are the best PC games. Stealth games highlight that neat joy of entering a space and leaving it unchanged except for the briefcase you need to extract or that one person who was your target now lying dead without anyone having noticed - the alarms going off at the precise moment you coolly walk away from the scene undetected. SuperGroupies announced the third entry in its Hololive English Myth Vtuber merchandise collection involves Calliope Mori. People can get a watch, jacket, backpack, and acrylic stand featuring the performer, with pre-orders shipping in September 2024.
The Calliope Mori watch costs ¥27,500 (~$174) and is the most expensive item in the collection. It features a tiara and corset bones design on the face, a scythe as the hour hand, and a Dead Beat icon on the back.
Here's a closer look at it:
The coat inspired by her is a unisex design in men's sizes medium through XXL. It costs ¥25,300 (~$160). Its buttons match the ones on Calliope's dress, while the tassel charm looks like the one on her belt.
As for the SuperGroupies Calliope Mori backpack, it matches the Hololive English Myth Vtuber's color scheme and tassel, with iconography tied to her on the lining. It costs ¥22,000 (~$140).
This is how it looks from the front and back:
The acrylic standee of Calliope wearing the SuperGroupies merchandise is the cheapest item in the collection. It costs ¥2,750 (~$17). It is designed to interlock with the bases of the other Hololive English Myth Vtubers in this collection for a larger display. The same design appears on the A5 file that is included as a bonus with purchases of the watch, jacket, and backpack in the collection.
Calliope's items are the fourth ones in the series. It all started with a Gawr Gura selection. Then a Kiara Takanashi assortment appeared. Amelia Watson's items showed up after that. Only Ninomae Ina'nis' merchandise has yet to appear.

I wish I was better at Umbraclaw. I want to know what happens if I manage to preserve Kuon's sense of self. I want to be able to go farther with her as a teeny, cute cat in a dangerous world. However, this is a challenging Inti Creates adventure designed to test someone. Yet because I couldn't let go and felt a drive for perfection, it often seemed the restrictions I'd place on myself were what really made it feel difficult.
Kuon is dead. She's a small, black cat who was raised and loved by her owner, Tsukumo. Upon awakening in the Soulplane as a fiend. Not satisfied to remain, she is determined to fight her way back to Tsukumo and reach the boundary to the human world and return. However, she is just a cat in a world with many hazardous enemies. If she falls, she can come back and gain an Anima Revive ability tied to another animal's skill. However, this transforms who and what she is to her very soul.
Umbraclaw is essentially a platformer, but it can almost feel a bit Metroidvania-ish in the way abilities affect gameplay. Someone incredibly skilled, who is trying to challenge themselves, might actually get pretty far as-is. Though Kuon is a relatively ordinary cat, the character can dash through enemies with temporary invisibility, do a wall cling for a double jump there, crawl through passages, and even damage bosses if you dodge enough to build up a "stomp." If someone is observant and plays carefully enough, they could impose their own "rules" of trying to not need extra abilities.
The way in which Anima Revive power doled out can make it potentially challenging. I'm not quite certain if it is random or based on behaviors, but in one normal difficulty run, the first skill involved an elephant ability that allowed Kuon to guard. In a run I started to test out the easiest difficulty level, Kuon's first death involved my getting the ability to double-jump. It seems you can't guarantee that she will get something you really want with her next death, which again can affect the difficulty.
However, choosing the degree of challenge you want when you start also lets you determine how punishing Umbraclaw could be. There are three levels you can choose from at the outset of the adventure, following the tutorial. Eternity gives you endless revives, and you can reset the Anima counter. Anima Mode is more traditional, with players restarting at beginning of stages and more limitations on survival. Novem is essentially permadeath. You can't reset the death counter. If you fall, you restart at the beginning of a chapter. It's punishing and designed to force you to be your best. Given there are sometimes "cheap" deaths, due to encounters with unfamiliar enemies or stage elements, I'd say it isn't good for a first run.
The thing is, endings being tied to Anima Revive and your progress also means how far you push yourself once you get to the end affects the degree of challenge. If you decide to keep running through until you complete Umbraclaw with minimal or no Animal Revive usage, then that's on you. You took the difficulty of the experience into your own hands.
I'm also a little split on the art direction for Kuon. I love the general character designs for her and her evolutions. The story cutscene images are great, and Tsukumo are adorable. The Soulbeasts and other major entities are amazing. However, I'm not a fan of some of the more general enemy designs for the typical encounters in stages. Also, while the style is unusual and stands out, I also didn't really care for the direction used in the stages. They seemed a little too similar at times or even generic, even though the major characters stood out in fun ways.
Even though I really enjoyed my time with it and loved when I managed to get through areas without needing to lose more of Kuon's sense of self and initial nature, I also felt like maybe Umbraclaw felt a little too difficult to try and survive as-is? I fully acknowledge it could be a skill issue on my part. My second attempt through it to sample the Eternity option did seem to go easier. But in some stages it seemed like Inti Creates purposely imposed some situations that would require prior knowledge of the situation or above-average skills to get past without resorting to an Anima Revive ability.
I love the idea behind Umbraclaw and its character designs. However, the demanding nature and restrictions I place on myself while playing and some design choices keep me from savoring it as much as other platformers. The idea of growing stronger via deaths for second changes is so refreshing, though, and people who really enjoy a challenge may relish the chance to see how far they can go without faltering.
Umbraclaw is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on May 30, 2024.

A crossover event featuring Vocaloid characters, including Kagamine Rin and Len, will appear in the free-to-play strategic-RPG Onmyoji. The event is live now, and NetEase also showed off the summoning animation for the characters on social media.
The characters are joining the game as part of the Onmyoji x Hatsune Miku crossover event, "Light and Music." Players will be able to take on event challenges in order to earn rewards such as skill upgrade materials and a cherry blossom-themed skin for Hatsune Miku. Kagamine Rin and Len appear as a single SSR unit, obtained via collecting character stamps by summoning Shikigami from a gacha. Five stamps are needed to summon one of the two event characters, with 39 summons without a stamp dropping guaranteeing you a stamp on the next pull. After evolving the characters they gain a new outfit, with Rin and Len's being shown off previously on Twitter.
You can find a preview of the Rin and Len summoning animation via the tweet below:
The twins were also featured in the Project Sekai: Colorful Stage collaboration with Sanrio, where they were paired with the Twin Stars Lala and Kiki. Meanwhile, Hatsune Miku appeared in a DLC pack for Crypt of the Necrodancer back in April 2024.
Onmyoji is available now for mobile devices and PC via Steam, while Kagamine Rin and Len will be available until June 9, 2024.

Natsume is working on another new and original Harvest Moon game, this time called Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home. It is expected to release on Android and Apple iOS mobile devices in August 2024.
So far, only a logo is available for Harvest Moon: Home Sweet Home. There are no screenshots or initial trailers suggesting how this installment might look. The initial announcement referenced "familiar faces," which could suggest appearances of the Harvest Sprites, Harvest Goddess, and recurring characters like Doc and Doc Jr from Natsume's line of original entries that debuted starting in 2014.
This marks the first new mobile entry in Natsume's original line of Harvest Moon line of games since Harvest Moon: Light of Hope. That launched in 2018 on Android and iOS, and it eventually appeared on the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC as well. The two mainline games and Mad Dash spin-off released between 2019 and 2023 all only appeared on consoles and PCs.
As for the next Story of Seasons Bokujou Monogatari game, it is possible we will learn more about the next new one at the Marvelous Game Showcase 2024. A new entry was teased at the 2023 installment, so the latest presentation could reveal more about it.

An upcoming indie PC game called I am Part-Time Worker will put players in the shoes of a new convenience store employee forced to deal with unruly customers with physical violence while also going about typical duties. It is coming soon to Steam and, while it is from a Japanese developer, will be available in English, Japanese, Korean, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
Players follow Ippatsu, who just started working at a Ichigeki City convenience store. After being left to do everything on his first day, some customers begin acting up. It is then up to Ippatsu to handle them, apparently with a crowbar, to get them to stop doing things like rob the store, sleep in the freezers, lounge in boxes of merchandise, and put up flags of themselves outside the shop.
Here's the first I am Part-Time Worker Japanese trailer from developer KomeFukuro's social media account. It begins with a foiled robbery attempt. After that, there are some normal customer interactions. However, then it shows some people drinking things without paying for them, sleeping in coolers, trying to steal the store's safe, setting off fireworks in the parking lot, and engaging in other inappropriate activities. A penguin shopper comes up at the very end.
The initial screenshots also show what convenience store management will be like in the game:
I am Part-Time Worker will be available for the PC via Steam "soon."

Sony announced that it will hold its State of Play for upcoming PS5 and PlayStation VR 2 games ahead of Summer Game Fest on May 30, 2024. People will be able to tune in at 3pm PT/6pm ET for the 30 minute showcase.
There are no details about exact PS5 and PSVR 2 games that will appear during the State of Play, but Sony did note 14 will appear. It didn't offer a breakdown or division discussing how many will be for the VR headset or for the system itself. It did confirm that the showcase will be on YouTube and Twitch, as usual. This falls in line with what we've come to expect from past entries in this showcase series. For example, the January 2024 installment highlighted 15 games for the PS5.
May 30, 2024 will be a packed day for game showcases. The State of Play will air at the exact same time as the Marvelous Game Showcase. Both will be followed by the Silent Hill Transmission event. That will air at 4pm PT/7pm ET. However, since the Sony and Marvelous showcases are each 30 minutes long, they will be done in time for Konami's event.

Good Smile Company has opened up pre-orders of a 1/7 scale figure of Avenger Oda Nobunaga from Fate/Grand Order. Pre-orders will close on August 7, 2024.
The Fate/Grand Order Avenger Oda Nobunaga figure costs 26,800 JPY on the Japanese Good Smile Company store. It'll ship in May 2025. Meanwhile, the North American site listed her as $158.99. She'll ship in Q3 2025. As a reminder, Good Smile Company (English) only ships to North America due to regional licensing.
The figure depicts Oda Nobunaga (to be very technical, her name in the game is Demon King Oda Nobunaga) in her first Ascension. This version of her retains the original look of Oda Nobunaga the most. It recreates the character art for her, including her posing on top of a stand of skulls while leaning on her katana. There's also red on the underside of her black hair, giving the impression of highlights.
Avenger Oda Nobunaga first appeared in the GUDAGUDA Final Honnoji event. The reason why there are so many different looks and personalities for this incarnation of Oda Nobunaga is because she's an embodiment of all of her personalities.
Fate/Grand Order is readily available on mobile devices. The Fate/Grand Order Avenger Oda Nobunaga figure will come out in 2025.

The five Hololive Advent Vtubers will be celebrating their first anniversary with Cover in July 2024, and Siliconera caught up with members like Koseki Bijou to talk about their experience so far. In her case, we got a chance to hear about what it's like to attend events, stream games, and what she'd like to accomplish in the future.
Jenni Lada: What's the coolest thing you've gotten to do or the thing that you're most happy about in your first year?
Koseki Bijou: Is it already almost a year? WOW it went by so quickly!! The coolest thing ever is just realizing that I'M HERE! and I feel so blessed to be here too! Being able to share my interests and enjoy playing games in front of people is mind boggling. People like watching ME? Playing VIDEO GAMES? That's just crazy to think about! I love it when people tell me that they've bought a game because they enjoyed watching me have so much fun playing it. It's the best feeling ever!
You're quite adept at Souls-like games. What got you interested in the genre and what tips do you have for people?
Koseki Bijou: I like a challenge! I actually picked up Dark Souls III on a whim and didn't really think too much about it, it was just a game series that I wanted to try. But I fell in love with it and all Souls-like games! There's nothing quite like the feeling of finally beating a boss after hours of struggle! It's the best! I guess my tips for people is don't treat your deaths as failures. Treat them as you're learning the fight and the moves. Enjoy the experience! When I go into a boss fight not thinking about beating it as quickly as possible (unless speedrunning or something) I'm going in to have fun!
Your use of memes and way of playing around with them have resulted in phrases like "Biboo tax" and your "Gyatt for the Rizzler" take on the meme song becoming known outside the hololive fandom. What led to you coming up with that?
Koseki Bijou: I think I'm pretty active in keeping up with current memes and I guess that knowledge helps. But a lot of the memes surrounding me are stuff that stuck within the community! Silly moments just naturally became memes, and those are actually my favorite ones because they remind me of the moments and streams surrounding them!
What was it like going to events? Is there anything you like to do to prepare?
Koseki Bijou: It's really fun! The thing that gets me the most is being able to see everyone! When I'm streaming, I don't actually realize the amount of people watching! It's a different experience streaming and talking to chat and actually seeing all the Pebbles in person! It's a really meaningful experience for me! My favorite parts are the meet and greets where I could talk to Pebbles one on one! I don't really have a set routine to prepare me for these events, but one habit I like to do is take notes about the event before and after! I have fun little notes about all the Pebbles I meet so I can remember the experience!
Koseki Bijou: As you know, I really love Souls and challenging games! THE one game that I really wanted to play and haven't gotten a chance to yet is Bloodborne! I heard that it's a fan favorite among FromSoft games so I'm really itching to try it one day!! I'm also looking forward to the Elden Ring DLC as well!
What is your dream collab within Hololive?
Koseki Bijou: Within Hololive I wanna collab with my JP-senpai! I'm still a bit shy and the language barrier is my biggest struggle, but I'm doing my best to learn Japanese because I really admire them and want to talk with them properly and play games together! I think my dream collab would be with Towa-senpai because she's SO cool!!
You can follow Koseki Bijou on social media and catch her streams on her YouTube channel.
