PCGamesN Tuesday, April 29, 2025 11:27 AM ![]() What are the best battle royale games? Each one of these multiplayer games revolves around one core idea: lots of players go in, and only one can leave. But it's the pace of Broken Arrow that makes it feel realistic. Compared to speedier RTS games like Command and Conquer, if you order reinforcements, you have to factor in the time it will take for them travel to you and set up a position. Height and distance have significant impacts on the effectiveness of your tactics, and even the strongest cover - like towering derelict buildings, filled with your infantry troopers - slowly degrades. PCGamesN Tuesday, April 29, 2025 10:56 AM ![]() Asus has come up with an ingenious way of potentially saving the life of your graphics card and even your whole PC. Thanks to an accelerometer built into its ROG Astral graphics card, it can tell you if your GPU is sagging and potentially set to come crashing down on the rest of your PC, or at the very least damage its own PCIe connector. The new Asus addition is built into its flagship ROG Astral version of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090. While our RTX 5090 review showed the Founders Edition of the card to be surprisingly compact, many of the best graphics cards, including the ROG Astral, are far larger and heavier, and this has the potential to wreak havoc inside your PC. However, one of these cables now appears to have burned out after being plugged into an RTX 5090 graphics card. It was a bright, unambiguously pleasant day and I remember thinking 'oh, that's the wotsit that inspired those regency thingamajigs'. So I took it home and tried my hand at a few variations, then forgot about the book entirely. After reading about Occlude, I can only wish my discovery had been more ominous, more foreboding. Why couldn't I have found the book in a secret cellar, its hastily painted-over entrance given away by the motion of air through a dream-catcher? Why couldn't it have been thrust upon me by a desperate man with hypnotic tattoos, pushed into my hands with a precautionary mutter to 'Ware The Onyx Triangle?' This is the ambience cultivated by Occlude, a "single-player cosmic horror card game for the terminally curious", in which Solitaire is the basis for seven rituals involving Tarot cards, which steadily unlock access to an archive of fragmentary lore. Cover announced that alongside the graduation of Gawr Gura, the Hololive Official Shop will once again sell the Dino Gura plushie and Ebi-chan plushie. The former is a stuffed animal of the Vtuber in a green dinosaur outfit. The latter is a mascot character that would appear alongside her sometimes in streams and merchandise. While both aren't available yet, the company noted they'll relaunch the items "soon."
As a reminder, it's been quite some time since the Dino Gura plushie appeared, as it appeared alongside Gawr Gura Birthday Celebration 2022 items in the Hololive Official Shop. To give an idea of how much it might cost when it returns, it was $25 back then. It stands at almost eight inches tall (200mm).
The Ebi-chan plushie is a slightly newer piece of Hololive merchandise. That was part of the Gawr Gura Birthday Celebration 2023. Since it is a keychain stuffed toy and smaller, it cost $15 originally. It is rather long though, as it is almost five inches (125mm).
Here are the official photos of the items:
![]()
If you do decide to buy either item from the Hololive Official Shop and live in the US, note that the Donald Trump tariffs will be in effect. As a result, the cost could be 10% to 145% higher than you would expect, depending on whether or not the item is made in China. The official storefront noted what to expect from price increases as a result of that tax.
Gawr Gura will graduate from Hololive English Myth on May 1, 2025, and her Dino Gura and Ebi-chan plushie toys will show up again in Cover's online storefront in the near futiure.

Sony announced its Crunchyroll streaming service will offer 20 anime series free with ads for Ani-May 2025 starting on May 1, 2025. As usual, this means people can head to the official site and watch shows that normally require a subscription. This will happen alongside additions to the Crunchyroll Game Vault and new physical anime releases. There are also typically sales on its official storefront during this event.
This year, the free Ani-May 2025 anime series on Crunchyroll involve a mix of both old and new shows. However, it's important to note that it doesn't always mean the whole series is available. For example, seasons 1 and 2 of Solo Leveling are streaming on the service, but only the first one is part of this promotion.
Here's the full list of all the shows we can watch for free with ads on Crunchyroll in May 2025.
We also know three physical releases that will before and during Ani-May 2025. Things start on April 30, 2025. That's when Crunchyroll will sell Goblin Slayer season 1 and Paranoia Agent. In both cases, they'll be Blu-ray releases with Steelbook cases. Those show up on April 30, 2025. On May 15, 2025, the Frieren season 1 part 2 Blu-ray set will debut.
The 20 Crunchyroll Ani-May 2025 anime series will be available to watch for free with ads between May 1-31, 2025.

Crunchyroll and Square Enix announced that Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, the first entry in the JRPG series, will join the Crunchyroll Game Vault for Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscription tiers on April 30, 2025. It is the first game appearing in honor of the company's annual Ani-May celebrations. It will be followed by five other games.
In Valkryie Profile, Odin and Freya wake a valkyrie to gather Einherjar, newly departed humans, to fight as warriors in Ragnarok. Each chapter gives you a limited number of time to see stories and go through dungeons to find allies, and you must send people who meet Odin's requests each time. Depending on our actions, we learn more about the situation and Lenneth herself, earning different endings. This is the first of four games in the series, which first showed up on the PlayStation, and this version of the title is based on the updated PSP release that also launched on other platforms.
Here's the trailer for the announcement.
While we know the exact day Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will join the Crunchyroll Game Vault, the other five upcoming games don't have exact release dates yet. The company only noted they'll appear between May 2025 and June 2025. Here's the full list of other upcoming games:
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth is available on the PSP, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices, and it will be part of the Crunchyroll Game Vault starting on April 30, 2025.

Yostar announced people can now register for a chance to take part in the closed beta test for Stella Sora, the company's new game currently in development. This is happening worldwide, with people able to play on either Android devices or Windows PCs. Those interested must fill out the survey by May 16, 2025. People who get to play will be picked and notified sometime after recruitment closes.
Signing up is a fairly simple process. First someone needs to have a free Yostar game account. Then, they need to go to the Stella Sora closed beta test website. There's a survey to fill out there, which Yostar will use to help make decisions. It will then email people who applied after the recruitment period ends. They will then be able to take part in the beta for a limited time.
However, note that this will just be a beta. This means that none of your progress will be saved. Also, you won't be able to share your account with another person.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves drew me in with its comic book art style and its captivating cast of varied characters (complete with a grappling wrestler in a cool bird mask I could use to irritate my friends with). Even though I have no experience with the previous entry from 1999, the game still pulled me in with its look and the interesting systems at play in each match. While some strange guest character choices left me totally perplexed, I still had a lot of fun with this game and am excited to put in my regular fight night rotation with my buddies.
The comic book art style is a welcome addition that made me enjoy working my way through the cast as I sought out who I wanted to play as a main. The visuals really pop with this style, making each character's outfit and design stand out in my mind (and against the stage backgrounds). While it's never bugged me much, I often find that the characters and background blend a bit together while playing Street Fighter 6. I'm not saying I lose the characters on the screen, but just that they don't leap from the screen like they seem to do thanks to the visual style and outlining done in this game. The result makes things look more exciting, and the great characters stand out because of it.
![]()
The systems in play in combat enhance that excitement in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The REV Gauge is what fuels many of your special moves and more powerful abilities as you play the game. As you use things like REV Arts (powered-up special moves), REV Guards (gives you more space on blocks and nullifies chip damage), and REV Blows (let you strike back while blocking, which is VERY neat), you build up your REV Gauge. Once it is full, you go into Overheat for a period and lose access to your REV abilities (and can be Guard Crushed, which isn't much fun when you have no powerful offense to keep your enemy from just laying into you).
While this felt similar to Street Fighter 6's Drive Gauge (but in reverse), laying it out as a rising meter instead of depleting one made it feel more pressing and important. It also doesn't hurt that it's a big burning meter at the bottom of the screen, which made it easier to keep an eye on. Further, it's combined with the Selective Potential Gear (SPG) mechanic, a unique buff that you can put at the beginning, middle, or end of your health bar. Once your health reaches that state, you have access to very powerful special moves and naturally do more damage. Carefully balancing your REV Gauge and your approach to SPG state makes you extremely aware of your resources, continually re-evaluating your situation and their best usage.
![]()
Fiddling with those mechanics alone gave a lot of depth to Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, but Brakes and Feints take it to wild places. Feints fake the startup of a move to get your opponent to react, allowing you to bait out certain countermeasures. Brakes, however, allow you to stop a move at a specific point, letting you do partial attacks that can be used to construct really complicated combos. They should give combo lovers some really fun things to toy around with. If you just want to fling special moves, the game has Smart Style, allowing players to do specials and combos with simple inputs (although it removes the ability to use Brakes or Feints).
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has visuals and characters that draw in your attention and plenty of systems in play to make every fight feel interesting moment-to-moment. Whether you're playing ranked online or battling through the hours of content in the single player Episodes of South Town modes (although I wish these were more exciting than just text and battles against nobodies), there's lots to do and learn while playing this solid fighter.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is available now on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Star Path event tasks are often disguised as tricky clues you have to solve to figure out what needs to be done in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Quests like the one that asks you to dig up a root vegetable with many eyes can make finishing this event tough.
There are lots of unique vegetables growing around the valley, and even more of them if you have additional DLC packs like A Rift in Time and The Storybook Vale installed. Only one specific item works for this task, so here's what the root vegetable with many eyes is in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Table of contents
A root vegetable with many eyes in Disney Dreamlight Valley
![]()
The root vegetable with many eyes is the Potato in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This clue references the many small sprouts that grow out of Potatoes that can be used to grow more of them.
These sprouts are commonly referred to as eyes, and Potatoes are a root vegetable that grows in the ground. With these two pieces of information combined, you have the full scope of why they're the right item for this task.
How to dig up a root vegetable with many eyes in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To complete the dig up a root vegetable with many eyes task for the Garden of Whimsy Star Path, you need to harvest a total of 50 Potatoes. This is a substantial amount, so you'll likely need to do lots of planting, watering, and harvesting to get it done.
Potato Seeds can be purchased from Goofy's Stall in the Forgotten Lands biome for 55 Star Coins. If you have A Rift in Time, you can also find them at his stall in the Wild Tangle biome for the same price. Each seed you plant only grows one Potato, so you will likely need 50 Potato Seeds to get this task done. Your character may sometimes get a few golden crops that grant additional ones, but it's completely random and luck-based, so it's best to just plant 50 seeds to be safe.
Potatoes take about 35 minutes to grow in most biomes. They grow a bit faster in the Forgotten Lands and Wild Tangle regions, but only by a few minutes. You need to water Potato plants three times throughout the growing process before they can be harvested.
![]()
All plants stop growing while waiting to be watered, so keep a close watch on your Potato plants to ensure you give them water as swiftly as possible. If you don't, the growing process will take longer than expected.
Be sure to bring along a villager who specializes in the gardening role when tackling this task. Having a friend at your side means you'll find additional Potatoes while harvesting. The extra ones they find won't count for the Star Path task, but it's still worth having a friend by your side to stock up on this essential ingredient for cooking or to sell for Star Coins.
Finishing this task gets you 10 Tokens to spend in the Garden of Whimsy Star Path event. It's not much for all the hard work you put in, but it's still a solid reward worth earning. If you need more Tokens, consider practicing mine-fulness next.

The next Fortnite season is quickly approaching, preparing to bring plenty of changes and fresh content to the island. Chapter Six, Season Three is set to be a big one, so if you're eager to see everything it includes, you need to know exactly when you can start playing.
This is the first ever Star Wars-focused season, so it's a pretty big event you don't want to miss out on. To ensure you're ready to jump in as soon as possible, here's a countdown for the exact start time and date of Fortnite Chapter Six, Season Three.
Table of contents
When does Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 start?
![]()
The maintenance for Fortnite Chapter Six, Season Three is slated to begin at 2am CT, so we've set our countdown to this precise time. This is when the battle pass ends for Chapter Six, Season Two.
Maintenance will last for a few hours, so you'll have to wait a bit longer to jump in. It's tough to know exactly how long it will last, but past updates generally have had around four hours of downtime. This means the new season will likely begin sometime around 6am CT. The downtime can be much shorter or longer than this, though, so we'll update this article as any new timing details are shared.
For now, our countdown is set to 2am CT. We've also listed it across a few major time zones if you're unsure what time this translates to in your area.
What's the theme of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3?
The theme of Fortnite Chapter Six Season Three is Star Wars: Galactic Battle. In previous years, Fortnite has released a bit of Star Wars content to celebrate May the Fourth. This year, the celebration is on a much grander scale with an entire season dedicated to this holiday.
What's in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3?
Chapter Six, Season Three has plenty of new content, including a Star Wars battle pass, many new locations and map changes, lots of skins, fresh weapons, and much more. There's essentially new content for every category you can think of, so there's plenty to explore.
The battle pass for this season features three iconic Star Wars characters which are Poe Dameron, General Grievous, and Emperor Palpatine. It also has two original Fortnite Remix characters, which are Cuddle Team Leader Chewbacca and Jedi/Sith Evie.
![]()
Other skins, like Darth Jar Jar, a new Mandalorian, and Captain Phasma, have also been teased, although they're not part of the battle pass. They may be shop skins or part of the LEGO Pass, but either way, there are sure to be many other Star Wars skins releasing throughout the season.
The island is starting off with four Star Wars POIs you can visit. This includes Vader Samurai's Solitude, Resistance Base, Outpost Enclave, and First Order Base. There will also likely be some Star Wars bosses and NPCs wandering around these areas.
This season will also have plenty of Star Wars loot you can find around the island. This includes ships you can fly with friends, lightsabers, blasters, and likely much more we haven't even seen yet.
How long is Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3?
The Star Wars season will last about a month, with a massive update releasing each week. A precise end date hasn't been revealed yet, but the last scheduled update for this season is on June 7, so it will likely end around a week after, on June 13.
There are five major updates releasing throughout the season. Each one has a unique theme and is expected to add plenty of new weapons, locations, characters, and more to the island.
![]()
While you wait for the new season to arrive, be sure to check out the Death Star Easter egg. You also may want to finish up some XP-rewarding quests before they're gone, like jamming alone using all instruments at once, searching a jewelry case, and spending bars on an Outlaw Flusher.

The Echo Modifier in Wuthering Waves allows you to change the main stat of any unlevelled Echo to the one you want. It's a fairly useful item since farming Echoes can be tedious.
This article will provide a simple guide on how to use the Echo Modifier and ways to obtain it in WuWa.
Table of contents
How to use the Echo Modifier in WuWa
Using the Echo Modifier in Wuthering Waves is simple. Here's a step-by-step guide for you:
Finally, click on "Modify" again to change the main stat of the selected Echo. Once that's done, the modified Echo will be locked automatically, and you can start leveling it up. You can keep modifying the Echo until you get a piece with the perfect sub-stats for your character. That said, use the item in moderation since it is available in limited amounts.
How to get the Echo Modifier
Item Exchange
![]()
There are multiple ways to obtain an Echo Modifier in Wuthering Waves. One of the simplest ways to get it is to purchase it from the Item Exchange store after every version update. You can get up to 20 for exchanging Afterglow Coral and five for Oscillated Coral.
Events
![]()
You can also get Echo Modifiers from various events in WuWa. While the number of Modifiers obtainable from each event may vary, these are still a good source. Needless to say, you will have to participate in such events to obtain the item.
Battle pass - Pioneer Podcast
![]()
The Echo Modifier can also be obtained as a reward from the Pioneer Podcast battle pass. You can get up to six Modifiers if you have the free version. If you have unlocked the Insider Channel (paid), you can get 24 more.
In total, you should be able to get up to 30 Modifiers from the paid battle pass.
As mentioned, the Echo Modifier is a great item. Obtaining a good Echo set is never easy since there's no guarantee you will get the desired Echo stat when farming them in the overworld, and even if you do, you have to get good sub-stats as well. So, Echo Modifier is an amazing QoL update, as you no longer need to worry about not getting the desired main stat.

The next big Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion is fast approaching with Pokémon from the Alola region ready to shake up the competitive meta and give casual trainers more cards to add to their collections, including the game's first trainer immersive rare.
Celestial Guardians is the third major expansion in the game, following Genetic Apex and Space-Time Smackdown, and comes after the release of two smaller sets that have been pretty groundbreaking to the competitive scene. With this set, though, trainers will be able to get cards like Rare Candy and other new strategies that'll likely give older decks a chance to shine again in ranked play.
If you want to know exactly when this set is launching, though, you're in the right place.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Celestial Guardians release date and time
The Celestial Guardians set in Pokémon TCG Pocket will be released worldwide on April 30, and the exact timing will depend on your timezone. The launch will be early morning in most places, but in parts of America, it might even launch on the evening of April 29 instead.
With a global release, the set will be available to everyone simultaneously, and it's expected to follow the same pattern as Space-Time Smackdown did in Jan 2025. The release time is 12am CT/1am ET/6am GMT/4pm AEST. For those in PT, the set releases on April 29th at 10pm.
You can see a precise countdown to the release of Space-Time Smackdown below.
There are no expected changes to the usual launch lineup, but for Premium users of the game who plan to buy a lot of packs, it might be worth waiting a couple of days until May 1 to make the most of the new rewards and missions that drop the start of each month, so you aren't buying extra packs to get all the goodies.
Outside of that, with two packs to pick from and over 100 cards to find, we can't wait to see what decks rise from this new expansion set and how the new cards affect older decks. Like we mentioned before, Rare Candy could allow decks like Charizard ex to see a resurgence, so long as there's a search card in the future to find the Rare Candy and the cards you need.
Rare Candy was a surprise inclusion, considering it's a TCG-made card that's popular in the physical game, now moving over to digital. We can only wonder what other physical cards could get the digital treatment moving forward, as the game seems to align more with the physical media.

For any gacha gaming players and fans of Genshin Impact-like games, Steam finally has one of the biggest open-world RPG gacha titles on the market, a year after its debut—and it's already rising up through Steam.
Wuthering Waves, once touted as a 'Genshin killer', has launched on Steam after only being available via its own launcher or the Epic Games Store since its release last year on May 24, 2024, and is already sitting at a comfortable 10,000-plus players within the first few hours.
What's even more remarkable is that Genshin Impact is still not on Steam, giving any Steam gacha lovers a huge new game to join in and try ahead of its 2.3 update, which adds a host of new characters and things to do.
Wuthering Waves, like other gacha games with an open world, has the player explore a massive universe, taking part in missions, and grinding to get the resources to upgrade their team. It's set in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic world where most of humanity has been wiped out, and you uncover secrets about the survivors and the world as you play through the main story.
I liked the game when it was initially released last year and enjoyed its monster-catching format of getting extra stats and abilities. Unlike Relics in Genshin Impact, players instead fight monsters and have a chance to acquire them randomly when defeated to get abilities to boost their characters' base stats and moves. It was a fun concept, and for a month of release, I was trying to catch 'em all to get the best team possible.
Other than that, though, it plays the same as other gacha games, with you having to open up RNG crates to try and get the best weapons, characters, and materials, alongside the usual daily login quests and things to discover. It can also get a bit grindy at times, but it can still be enjoyable in short bursts if you don't want to rush through the story or seek out every hidden collectible like I did.
And now that it's on Steam—and free to play—there's no real reason not to give it a try and see if it truly deserved the 'Genshin killer' title that it tried, yet obviously failed, to deliver on.

Blazing Justice is a 5-star Gauntlet and Zani's signature weapon in Wuthering Waves. It is a solid weapon that offers a lot of bonuses, including Crit stats, ATK%, and Spectro Frazzle DMG amplification.
In this article, you can find Blazing Justice's stats and materials needed to level it up.
WuWa Blazing Justice stats
Blazing Justice has the following stats and effects at level 90 S1 in WuWa:
![]()
Blazing Justice has a high Crit DMG second stat bonus, and the passive increases the ATK by a decent amount. Furthermore, after using a Basic Attack, the weapon's passive effect allows the wielder to ignore the enemy's defense when dealing damage and amplifies the Spectro Frazzle DMG dealt for a short period, which are pretty amazing bonuses.
Blazing Justice materials and where to farm
![]()
Listed below are all the materials you'll need to level up Zani's signature weapon in Wuthering Waves:
Cadence Seed, Cadence Bud, Cadence Leaf, and Cadence Blossom can be farmed in the Moonlit Groves Forgery Challenge in Huanglong and the Abyss of Sacrifice Forgery Challenge in Rinascita. You can also get them from Supply Packs during the events.
Meanwhile, LF, MF, HF, and FF Howler Cores can be obtained by defeating all the Howler enemies, such as:
You can also get Howler Cores from Supply Packs, Stores, and by completing Forgery Challenges in Huanglong.
More on Zani's signature weapon
Since you're always guaranteed to get the featured five-star weapon, you can get Zani's signature weapon if you have enough Astrites saved up. It's a solid weapon for the Montelli employee since it boosts her damage and provides a large Crit DMG bonus. While it can be a good stat stick, pulling it for another character is not recommended because of its passive.

Other options for obtaining Polygon Cores are to buy them from the Store, open Supply Packs, Weapon Shop, Synthesis, and complete any Forgery Challenge in Rinascita.
Sword Acorus
Sword Acorus is a local specialty item in Rinascita, and you will need it to level up Zani. Ragunna City and Egla Town are the best places to farm this item. You can also buy some Sword Acorus from Rosemary's Apothecary. Since Zani only needs 60 Sword Acorus, one round across the map will be enough for her max ascension.
Platinum Core

You can obtain Platinum Core by defeating the Sentry Construct in Averardo Vault, Rinasccita. Each time you claim the rewards, it will consume 60 Waveplates in Wuthering Waves.
Cadence Seed, Bud, Leaf, and Blossom

The Netherworld's Stare

The Netherworld's Stare can be obtained by defeating the weekly boss, Hecate, in Rinascita. You can claim the rewards three times each week, and depending on how many drops you already have, it may take a few weeks to obtain the required amount to max Zani's skills.
