One of the most welcome aspects of the retro FPS revival is its focus on incredibly fast player movement. Games like Ultrakill and Mullet Madjack feature characters who whip across the screen like fastballs while throwback projects like Doom The Dark Ages, Doom Eternal, or Echo Point Nova add to their sense of speed with additional, parkour-inspired movements. The recently announced Gunstoppable is another game in this vein that, somehow, looks to amp up the pace, acrobatics, and freneticism of the throwback shooter even further.

Borderlands 2 stands out from the rest of the series and its spin-offs. It's a refinement of the ideas introduced in the first game, which blended Diablo 4-style gear chasing with traditional shooter design in a manner that's since been iterated on by everything from Destiny 2 to The Division 2. And, with Borderlands 4 fast approaching as the latest entry to the series, it remains a great option for anyone curious to see why Gearbox's take on the post-apocalyptic genre became so popular in the first place. It's also, luckily, completely free on Steam right now for a limited time.

Cyberpunk 2077 first came out almost five years ago. Its launch was notoriously rocky, with severe technical issues plaguing the game and interfering with its players' ability to enjoy one of the most highly anticipated RPGs in years. To its credit, creator CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has continued working on the game, issuing a number of patches, including an overhaul timed to launch alongside the fantastic Phantom Liberty expansion. Even now, while working on new projects like the upcoming Witcher 4, CDPR is still plugging away at Cyberpunk 2077, with news coming today that the studio's preparing another update to go live in the near future.

One of the most memorable sequences in Cyberpunk 2077 is the heist that sets the bulk of its plot in motion. It neatly introduces some of the game's most important cast members, showcases the possibilities of its setting's futuristic technology, and does all of this in dramatic fashion. It's no wonder, then, that heists are a recurring theme in cyberpunk fiction, from the pioneering novel Neuromancer through to tactics-based sci-fi games like Invisible Inc, Shadowrun: Hong Kong, and, most recently, Cyber Knights: Flashpoint. Now, anyone looking to get into the latest of these is in luck, as Cyber Knights has just hit 1.0 on Steam alongside positive user reviews and a launch discount.

Martial arts seem like a perfect fit for the RPG genre. Still, aside from classics like Shenmue and Jade Empire or newer games like Wandering Sword, there aren't as many projects that fit this description as might be expected. Intel's new lineup of Nova Lake CPUs will reportedly contain some of the company's most advanced GPU tech, leaving the existing Battlemage architecture in the past. Not only is the new Intel CPU lineup expected to make use of Intel's forthcoming Xe3 Celestial graphics architecture, but it could also take parts from its Xe4 Druid graphics system.

Intel has been facing growing pressure from AMD in the world of integrated graphics lately, with even AMD-based MSI Claw handhelds now being available, despite being an Intel-exclusive range beforehand. Meanwhile, as we saw in our recent Asus ROG Flow Z13 review, AMD now has a seriously powerful integrated GPU, and Intel currently has nothing to rival it.

What are the best PC fans? Upgrading your PC fans isn't just for silent PC obsessives or adding RGB lighting. All gaming PCs need good cooling to ensure consistent operation without any crashes or drops in speed. If you're building a new system, many PC cases either ship with no fans or only include a few, so you'll need to buy at least some fans. Whether you're priority is peak performance, quiet operation, all the RGB, or cost, our list has the right fan for you.

The best fan overall is the Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM as it offers the best balance of high airflow, static pressure and quiet operation for a high but fair price. However, the best RGB fan is the Corsair LL120 RGB that packs in 16 lighting zones, including the case and fan blades. Meanwhile, the best budget PC fan is the Arctic P12. It's very basic but costs under $10. Check out our full list below for more choices. Meanwhile, if you want a bit more PC fan buying advice, check out the how to choose a PC fan section at the bottom of this list. Ever since the days of Doom and Quake, we've seen FPS games come up with all manner of creative ways to build on the core run-and-gun gameplay. Even before them, Ultima Underworld established the fundamentals of the more open-ended immersive sim, later popularized by Thief and Deus Ex. I'm trying to reverse engineer the distinctive look of classic RTS games and CRPGs. It's the isometric view, it's the sprites, and it's the over-designed, semi screen-filling menus and interaction prompts. But I also think of dense, destroyed cities and yellow-brown, post-apocalyptic deserts. It's Planescape Torment. It's Tiberian Sun. It's Jagged Alliance 2, War Wind, and the first Diablo. On a strictly visual level, these are the games I love the most. DORF combines them all. Mechanically, it's closest to Command and Conquer - but Command and Conquer set in the world of Interplay's original Fallout.

It's been quite a while since Grasshopper Manufacture put out a completely original game, almost a decade in fact, with 2016's Let It Die. Since then there's been a couple No More Heroes, but during a presentation held last night from some company I've never heard of, PlayStation I think it was, the developer revealed something wholly new: Romeo Is A Dead Man. This was easily my personal highlight because of how balls to the wall stupid it looks, but it was missing an important thing known as a release date that a lot of other games actually featured for once. And that's almost definitely because Grasshopper is a bit worried about GTA 6.

The developers who create Guilty Gear, the punishing 2D fighters with slick anime visuals, are working on a Marvel fighting game in partnership with the comics giant. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is a flashy over-the-top wreck sesh, at least judging by the trailer shown off during last night's State of Play, the showcase of new games by Playstation. You can very quickly see how punchin' pros Arc System Works have put their own spin on some Marvel staples such as Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Storm. There is a (to me) terrifying catch - the fights are 4v4 tag battles.

Helldivers 2 developers Arrowhead have revealed the new gear that'll be arriving in the game with its next warbond on June 12, and there's an armour set that seems inspired by another franchise high on authoritarian satire, Judge Dredd.

Honestly, I'm surprised it's taken that long for one of the warbonds - which as plenty of people have pointed out often amount to giving players a way to look even more fascisty than you do by default in Helldivers 2 - to dip into something Dredd-ish.

Wash It All Away Anime Arrives in 2026

Happinet and Okuruto Noboru will develop an anime adaptation of the manga series Wash It All Away, known in Japanese as Kirei ni Shite Moraemasu ka. It will debut in 2026. While there's no trailer yet, we can see how Wakana Kinme looks in the first piece of key art and her voice actress was revealed.

The story is a slice of life tale about a young woman named Wakana with amnesia. She lives in Atami running the Kinme Cleaning laundry. In addition to running the wet laundry service, she also connects with people in her community. However, as the story goes on, we get hints about her life before stepping into that role. The manga is already available in English via Square Enix, which also published it in Japan.

Here's the key visual showing Wakana Kinme in the Wash It All Away anime adaptation.

Sayumi Suzushiro will play Wakana in Wash It All Away. Most recently, she appeared as Himari Ishikura in I'm Getting Married to a Girl I Hate in My Class. She was also Nonoa in 2.5 Dimensional Seduction and Lawine in Frieren. She's also played two HoYoVerse heroines, as she's Kirara in Genshin Impact and Hanya in Honkai: Star Rail

The Wash It All Away manga is available now in English, and the anime adaptation will debut in 2026.

Dragon Ball Project: Multi Becomes Gekishin Squadra Ahead of Network Test

Bandai Namco updated its Dragon Ball Project: Multi 4v4 free-to-play MOBA, giving it the name Dragon Ball: Gekishin Squadra, revealing platforms, and confirming a June 2025 Network Test. Starting on June 12, 2025, Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile players will be able to take part in that open beta. The official site and Steam page both updated to reflect the reveals.

The Dragon Ball: Gekishin Squadra Network Test will start at 2am ET on June 12, 2025, but Bandai Namco didn't note when the client for it will appear on storefronts. It did let folks know that they may need to look up a version with "Exhibition Match" in the title to find it. We don't know every character who will be playable, but the trailer showed an array of familiar faces like Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Krillin, Majin Buu (Good), Android 18 and Zamasu. It also looks like the Super Saiyan versions of characters are different than standard ones. Folks who take part will get to play for four days until 1:59am ET June 16, 2025, and cross-play and cross-save will be supported.

Here's the trailer specifically for the Network Test.

Kaiju No 8 Manga Ends at Chapter 129

Chapter 127 of Kaiju No 8 launched worldwide, and the Japanese version of it included a note that the manga will end in two chapters on the final page. This means Chapter 129 will be the final one. Chapter 128 will debut on June 19, 2025, with MangaPlus  and Viz Media hosting it outside Japan.

At the moment, only the version on the Shonen Jump Plus site in Japan includes the additional note stating the end is near. The translations on the MangaPlus and Viz Media sites don't include that same notice on the final page in the English, French, or Spanish

The Kaiji No 8 manga run started back in July 2020. It's at 15 volumes in Japan, with volume 14 debuting in English on September 2, 2025. It inspired both a light novel and anime adaptation, with the second season of the anime starting in July 2025. There will also be a mobile game called, appropriately enough, Kaiju No 8 The Game. That's still on the way

The Kaiju No 8 manga ends with chapter 129. The anime is on Crunchyroll, with season 2 starting in July 2025. The game is in development for PCs and mobile devices.

Capcom Dealing With Monster Hunter Wilds Cheaters Tampering With Quests and Content

Capcom shared some details regarding how it will be handling cheaters in Monster Hunter Wilds, and it mentioned how it will stop pre-release content and unauthorized quests from appearing. It stated offenders will be suspended if they took part in malicious activities or actions that go against the terms of service for the game. It also reminded us that Hunter Profiles allow us to report people if we see bad or malevolent behavior.

In the case of cheaters who already used "unreleased content," Capcom is already suspending those Monster Hunter Wilds players. It stated it looked at both "activity history" and "gameplay data" when coming to conclusions on social media. It didn't note how long accounts will be suspended.

As for the illegal quests that appear in games, Capcom noted those will be tackled in Title Update 2. The game will automatically update to prevent people from even being able to go on quests that are "illegitimate." People who made those quests will be suspended for it. The company also shared an infographic to help point out some "tells" for illegal quests, such as a mission featuring three or more monsters as targets or offering more than five rewards for a mission that has one monster to fight.

Here's the full infographic to help avoid fake quests:

In the meantime, another recent update is more positive. We can earn Felyne headgear that makes our Hunters look like Palicos. That's part of an Event Quest that debuted on June 3, 2025. It's only around for a limited time.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available for the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Monolith Soft Worked on Mario Kart World Character Designs

Last evening, ahead of the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide, the Monolith Soft official social media account stated the studio worked on Mario Kart World. This often happens following the launch of a Nintendo first-party title. The credits or the company itself will confirm involvement. In this case, the developer worked on Mario Kart World "field and character designs."

Here's the official announcement, which included the box art for the game. It didn't mention which characters or locations in Mario Kart World that Monolith Soft helped design.

https://twitter.com/MONOLITHSOFT/status/1930459571275084157

While Monolith Soft is known for making its own original games, such as the Baten Kaitos, Project x Zone, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Xenosaga series, it is well known for acting as a support studio for games like Mario Kart World as well. For example, it assisted with Animal Crossing: New Horizons and both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. It's also worked on Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII. This marks the first Switch 2 game it worked on.

However, it isn't the only time it ended up being involved with the console. Alongside the new system's launch, Nintendo confirmed a Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Switch 2 update on June 3, 2025. The goal of it was to specifically ensure it would run better on the new console.

Shine Post Be Your Idol live performance singing voices use AI

Konami was revealed to have developed an AI voice library for the Japanese Nintendo Switch 2 launch title Shine Post: Be Your Idol. The game's director, Akihiro Ishihara, revealed its details in interviews with Famitsu.

In an earlier interview in April 2025, Ishihara divulged how his team made a dedicated deep-learning AI library for the singing voices to accommodate all 23 playable idols in occupying any position in each featured song. The AI can also adjust the idols' singing qualities, such as pitches and vibrato, based on their in-game growth stats. Konami opted to adopt the technology since recording live singing voices in multiple qualities for all idols would take an enormous amount of time.

In a more recent interview on the game and console's launch day, Ishihara revealed how the team recorded the voices for the AI to learn from them. The voice actresses were told to sing any song they liked from the list and enjoy it like a karaoke session.

However, Ishihara also acknowledged in the interviews that the usage of AI in the game could generate some concerns and negative reactions from the public. He tried to assuage by noting that Konami had previously released the LAUGH DiAMOND AI singer voice libraries, and Shine Post also has the same technologies as the former.

Shine Post: Be Your Idol is one of the Japan-exclusive launch titles for Nintendo Switch 2, which releases worldwide on June 5, 2025.

To a T looks gorgeous and I found the game's story charming, but the gameplay isn't always entertaining due to certain design choices.

Keita Takahashi games have a habit of spreading joy and positivity. Wattam emphasized friendship and working together. Crankin's Time Travel Adventure toyed with the concept of time management. Katamari Damacy made tidying up a little more silly and embraced chaos. To a T is the developer's unique look at coming of age and growing up while dealing with unexpected challenges, all while overcoming them throughout the game. The story and soundtrack are fantastic, as you'd expect, but some of the execution isn't exactly on-point.

Teen is a young adult who is not only dealing with growing up, as they just turned 13, but with being shaped like a T. Their arms are perpetually extended at their sides. While this means certain accommodations need to be made in their everyday life, such as a service animal that assists with some tasks and special tools for accomplishing daily tasks, it presents a sudden unexpected advantage. On our avatar's birthday, they discover they can fly by spinning quickly and moving about. What follows feels like an anime series, right down to segments being broken down into episodes prefaced by the PREP's "Perfect Shape" main theme and punctuated by the Rebecca Sugar track "Giraffe Song."

The story and its execution are perfect. Even though we can completely customize Teen's appearance, they still feel like a defined character with fourth wall-breaking moments of exposition, identifiable struggles, and a kind heart. The narrative isn't preachy, even though it emphasizes inclusion, accessibility, acceptance, and individuality. It's just plain pleasant. I do wish that some narrative segments didn't only offer set outcomes, even if you managed to perfectly execute inputs. Also, the repeated use of the opening and closing themes, while designed to mimic an episodic show, can break up the flow of the story. I loved both tracks, and I'm still hearing PREP's tune in my head at random moments throughout my day even after not playing in quite some time, but it accentuates exactly how short some of these story segments can be in a negative way. Once I started skipping them, which is an option, I found it helped with the pacing.

The aesthetic in To a T is also great, though this is common for Keita Takahashi games. It resembles titles like Katamari Damacy and Wattam, with similar facial features on characters, unexpected anthropomorphic NPCs, occasional weirdness, and vibrant color palettes. It's a very distinct, poppy look. So as usual, everything stands out. Likewise, the music is lovely, with the songs with vocals being ridiculously catchy.

It's the To a T gameplay that can sometimes feel like it isn't on par with the game's story and appearance. There are no tutorials in the To a T, beyond actual inputs shared to show how to make Teen fly. I can appreciate why Uvula made this decision. Life doesn't come with an instruction manual, and it accentuates the struggle a person in a T-pose would face. But it means flailing through situations as you work out what each button should do, and even a few episodes in you might find yourself experimenting to figure out how to accomplish a thing. While you can send Teen around town to collect coins and play minigames so you can get things like more clothing, I honestly had more fun following the narrative than exploring.

While these may be patched out of the game by the time you're reading this, I did notice a few bugs in To a T too. The biggest one involved segments when I'd need to adjust Teen's positioning to go through doors or narrow gaps. You're supposed to turn the right analog stick slightly on the PS5, then press with left one at the same time. Except more than a few times, after getting into the new room or area, Teen would immediately turn back around and go into the last spot. I even stopped holding the right analog stick once the animation started, in case it was my own doing somehow, and nope! I tried using a different controller. It kept happening. (I found disconnecting the DualSense, then reconnecting, helped.) There would be times when I felt like actions should have triggered, based on my input, but they wouldn't register. (This especially happened with the face washing minigame.)

Of course, some of the issues came down to the controls and execution just being poorly handled and unexplained. The TV is the best example of this. On the PS5 at least, managing to aim the remote at the proper spot to make it spin, especially as it rises up, proved quite frustrating. There's also a minigame involving catching ice cream that is more annoying than fulfilling. In general, I think I'd suggest that sometimes these moments can last a bit too long. I'll admit being flummoxed at how long the first interactive activity on the first moments with Teen carried on.

What does work well are the accessibility option. The input to fly in To a T can be a bit tricky. It involves using the analog sticks to spin. However, it can be shortened and tied to triggers instead. It's really encouraging! Especially since the game as a whole works to spread a message about inclusion and acceptance.

To a T looks gorgeous and I found the game's story charming, but the gameplay isn't always entertaining due to certain design choices. Dropping us into Teen's world with no explanation about controls can get confusing. The episodic nature is also fine, but can breaks up the pace in an unpleasant way. Fans of Keita Takahashi will be pleased, but others may want to try the demo before they hop onto T's unicycle.

To a T is available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

One of the user-generated characters in Dune Awakening

Dune Awakening's early access is live, and developers Funcom is offering a Twitch drops program for players ahead of the game's full launch.

The Twitch Drops campaign begins on June 5 and will continue for much of the month. However, you'll have to complete a few additional steps to become eligible for the rewards.

All Dune Awakening Twitch Drops rewards

The first-ever Twitch Drops campaign has three unique rewards. All players can obtain the items (it doesn't matter if you have early access). Here's the complete list of all the available rewards.

  • Observer Foundation
  • Observer Floor
  • Observer Wall

https://twitter.com/DuneAwakening/status/1930323806930800694

The three items combine and form the CHOAM Observer building, which is pretty unique as the parts are unavailable in the game from the start. Here's what you need to do to unlock the items.

  • Observer Foundation: 30 minutes of stream
  • Observer Floor: 1 hour of stream
  • Observer Wall: 2 hours of stream

All you have to do is watch Dune Awakening streams for the required duration across any partner channels, and you'll be eligible for the rewards. The duration doesn't have to be achieved in a single, uninterrupted session, so you can take your time. You'll also have to complete an additional step before the items appear in your in-game inventory.

The Twitch Drops campaign will go live on June 5, and it will continue until June 24.

How to get the Twitch Drops rewards in Dune Awakening

Before you start watching the streams, ensure your account is enabled with Twitch Drops, which can be done by completing the following steps.

  • Log in to your Twitch account.
  • Go to your Account settings.
  • Go to Connections.
  • Connect your Steam account with your Twitch account.

Once done, just watch the streams of a partnered content creator for the required amount of time, and the items will prop up in your in-game inventory.

Nintendo Switch 2 Docked mode

Welcome to the world of 4K, Nintendo! The Nintendo Switch 2 has arrived and it's brought 4K visuals with it for applicable titles.

Games like Mario Kart World are capable of displaying at 4K resolution on TVs and monitors that are 4K capable, but you may need to tweak some settings to get the game and console running at the highest resolution possible so you can enjoy all of the graphical magic in its glory.

Here's how to change your Switch 2's resolution to get the most out of the 4K console.

How to change display resolution on Switch 2

Nintendo Switch 2 System Settings - Display Settings for TV Resolution
Screenshot by Destructoid

From the Home menu, select System Settings and then scroll down to Display. Scroll down to TV, and then select TV Resolution to select the resolution display options for your Switch 2 when it's docked and displaying on your monitor or TV.

The Switch 2 is capable of displaying in 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p (4K). Even if you select a higher resolution, however, your TV may not be displaying it correctly. Make sure that your display is 4K capable, you have a 4K-capable HDMI cable (the Switch 2 comes with one), and that you have 4K selected in the settings.

Also, double-check the HDMI ports on your display. Some TVs and monitors have multiple HDMI ports, but not all of them support settings like 4K resolution or 120hz, so be sure that you have the Switch 2's HDMI cable hooked up to the correct port, or some resolutions and frame rates won't be possible.

If you're not sure about what your TV's settings are or what it's capable of, set the setting to Automatic and the Switch 2 will automatically apply the highest resolution it can. Unfortunately, 4K gaming requires a 4K display, device, and cable to work.

The Switch 2 is a customizable console because it even lets you remap buttons on the JoyCons. And don't worry, transferring all of your data from Switch 1 to your Switch 2 is a breeze as well.

Finding the sandworm in Dune: Awakening

Granite and Copper are two of the earliest resources you can come across in Dune Awakening, and you'll need them in large quantities as you unlock new recipes and technology.

These two items are required to craft a lot of different items that are available in the game. While the game doesn't formally introduce you to either, you can mine both in large quantities with the right tool. While the two resources don't have exact spawn spots on the map, they're not that hard to miss.

How to get Granite in Dune Awakening

The core process of collecting Granite and Copper is practically the same. Your first task is to retrieve the Power Cutter tool that is part of the initial quests. You can use your right mouse button to scan an item and use the Left Mouse Button to fire the Cutter in Dune Awakening.

Screenshot by Destructoid

Granite lodes are typically brick-like in color and found in sandy areas. Look for arches to find the deposits. You can pick up singular pieces from the ground (as shown in the screenshot above). As an alternative, fire up the Cutter tool at the deposit, and it will keep adding the ore to your inventory.

How to get Copper in Dune Awakening

Copper ore in Dune Awakening in front of a character
Screenshot by Destructoid

You can get Copper the same way as you get Granite. You don't need any additional tools to mine it (apart from the Cutter), and you can also pick isolated bits of it straight from the ground. Unlike Granite, Copper is easy to spot, as the deposits have a strange bluish strain on them. To mine the ore, fire your Cutter at it until the ore disintegrates completely.

How to use Granite and Copper in Dune Awakening

Granite is one of the most commonly used construction materials in the game. You can build many different items using it. I recommend having as much Granite as possible, especially if you plan to expand your base.

Copper, on the other hand, can't be used directly. Instead, you'll have to use them in an Ore Refinery and turn them into Copper Ingots. The Ingots are used in different items from the technology branch, which makes Copper pretty precious.

Deltarune characters in Chapter 4's Dark Sanctuary

Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 are a wild ride. By now, you've likely completed Chapter 3 and maybe even experienced its secret ending. Now, we're on to Chapter 4, and oh boy, there's a lot of ground to cover here.

Fortunately, you won't need to worry about ranking high in goofy minigames or beating impossible top-down dungeon crawlers to find this ending. Instead, we're going on a scavenger hunt for special musical symbols.

There are major spoilers for Deltarune Chapter 4 below. If you haven't played through the chapter yet, proceed with caution!

How to solve Deltarune Chapter 4's Golden Piano puzzle

Finding Deltarune's Chapter 4 secret ending and boss requires entering the Dark Sanctuary after the chapter's introduction and finding a Golden Piano. You'll need to solve the Golden Piano's puzzle by finding three sets of musical symbols. You can find these symbols in the following locations:

  1. Behind the waterfall near the beginning of the area.
  2. Inside a tower in the Dark Sanctuary's lower right section (right of the Old Man's library.)
  3. Inside the "Jockington Grows the Beard" room.

Entering each area and lighting up your surroundings will reveal arrows you play during the Golden Piano's puzzle. Finding all three of these music sets will give you the exact solution to the Golden Piano's puzzle, letting you uncover a key item that'll lead you directly to the secret boss. However, you'll need climbing gear to access these spots, requiring you to progress through the story until you unlock this tool.

How to find Deltarune Chapter 4's secret boss

Once you solve the Golden Piano's puzzle, you'll watch a doorway appear behind the Old Man. Head back down the bookshelves and traverse through the library until you arrive in the study room. Entering this room will reveal a magical axe that Susie quickly attempts to take, only to realize she can't grab it just yet.

After a series of bizarre interactions, she, alone, will enter the secret boss fight. Beating the boss will reward you with the Justice Axe for Susie and another Shadow Crystal.

This article is being updated over time as more information is revealed.

Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked: For Good

Our first real look at Wicked: For Good dropped on June 4, and the trailer is packed with plenty of small Easter eggs and teasers. There are lots of blink and you'll miss them moments, so if you're eager to venture back into the magical world of Oz, you may want to know about them.

We still have quite a way to go before the movie releases on November 21, so the trailer is all we've got to keep us busy until then. If you want to ensure you caught all the teasers sprinkled throughout it, here are 10 details you may have missed in the Wicked: For Good trailer.

Spoiler warning: There are some spoilers for Wicked: For Good ahead based on the Broadway and book versions of Wicked, as many hints that appear in the trailer foreshadow what's to come.

Best Easter eggs from the Wicked: For Good trailer

10. Matching skies

At around 0:53 in the trailer, Glinda and the residents of Munchkinland look up in horror as Elphaba draws the message "Our Wizard lies" in the sky. She seems to enjoy using this method of communication, as she does the same thing in The Wizard of Oz.

While Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, and the Tin Man are in Oz during The Wizard of Oz, Elphaba paints the message "Surrender Dorothy" in the sky. The use of another sky message in Wicked: For Good is a fun callback to this moment.

9. Madame Morrible's storm

Madame Morrible making a storm in wicked for good

Madame Morrible is cooking up a massive storm, and it's the very same storm that lands Dorothy in Oz during the events of The Wizard of Oz. You can spot her using her weather magic, which she showed off frequently during the first Wicked, to brew a massive tornado that ultimately picks up Dorothy from Kansas at around 0:36 in the trailer.

8. Fiyero's uniform

Fiyero's uniform in Wicked: For Good
Images via Universal Pictures

We're entering big spoiler territory with this one, so if you don't want one of the bigger plot twists spoiled, you may want to skip to the next one. Now that you've been warned, let's get into it.

The Wicked: For Good trailer subtly teases Fiyero's transformation into the Scarecrow. He's got a striking green and gold uniform on throughout it, and this same uniform can be spotted on the Scarecrow when Dorothy and the group are meeting with the Wizard. The wedding outfit variant of the uniform shown at 1:32 also features some embroidery with small pieces of wheat, similar to one of the shirts he wore in Wicked.

7. Glinda joins Wonderful

The Wizard, Elphaba, and Glinda in Wicked: For Good
Image via Universal Pictures

"Wonderful" is the song sung by the Wizard and Elphaba as he tries to get her back on his side during the Broadway adaptation, and a few glimpses of this scene are featured in the trailer. The duo is surprisingly joined by Glinda, which is an intriguing change that differs from the usual performance of this song. This is a fitting change, though, as it makes a lot more sense that Elphaba would be willing to hear the Wizard out if Glinda, the person she trusts most, is there too.

6. Off to see the Wizard

Elphaba turning back and looking slightly over her shoulder in Wicked: For Good
Image via Universal Pictures

At 2:36, Elphaba says, "I'm off to see the Wizard," another fun nod to The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy and her friends sing a song called "We're Off to See the Wizard" in the other film, which is what's referenced here.

5. Possible Glinda magic

Elphaba and Glinda on a swing in a pink starlit room in wicked for good
Image via Universal Pictures

Glinda doesn't have a whole lot of magical abilities, and is never shown really harnessing much power and prowess outside of her wand and bubble, but there's an intriguing scene that might mean Wicked: For Good will change this. Starting at 1:41, Elphaba and Glinda float around a pink, magical, starry room.

It's not a scene I can place from the books or the Broadway show, so whatever is going on here seems to be a new addition. Since it's all pink and stars, it screams Glinda to me, and I'm curious if we might get to see her actually harness magic.

4. Glinda's dress

Glinda's blue dress in Wicked
Images via Universal Pictures/Wicked the Musical

In the first Wicked, pink was the main color we saw Glinda in. Some of her outfits had slight accents of other colors, like her Ozdust dress with hints of orange or her first-day uniform with some light blue, but pink was her primary palette for the majority of the film.

Wicked: For Good is giving her a fresh style with a stunning gown that's primarily blue with some slight pink accents. This dress seems like a nod to the one worn by Glinda in the Broadway version of the show, as her dress on stage is always bright blue.

3. Flashbacks

There are several scenes throughout that clearly happened in the past, but we didn't get to see them in the first part of Wicked, so the trailer hints at plenty of flashback moments. One such moment is Glinda and Elphaba relaxing in a field together back when they were at Shiz.

2. Elphaba's new song

A close up of elphaba's face in wicked: for good

While Glinda is spinning around at around 0:14, Elphaba sings a note that's not in any of the known songs featured in the Broadway version of Wicked. She could just be adding on to one of the existing songs, but since director John. M Chu confirmed Elphaba and Glinda both have new songs, we just may have heard a hint of one of them here.

1. Glinda and Fiyero's wedding

Glinda in a wedding dress in wicked for good
Image via Universal Pictures

There's no wedding between Glinda and Fiyero in the Wicked book or Broadway play, but it seems to be a big part of Wicked: For Good. You can spot Glinda walking down the aisle to Fiyero at 1:30. It'll be interesting to see whether they actually get married, considering Fiyero is actually in love with Elphaba and (spoiler warning) the pair ultimately ends up together in the Broadway version of Wicked.

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour cover image

The Nintendo Switch 2 is a suped-up version of the Switch 1, and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is a playable explanation of what's new and different about the console. It's not really a "game."

Whereas the Switch 1 had games like ARMS and 1-2 Switch to show off the new tech, NS2 Welcome Tour carries the burden of being somewhere in the middle-ground of those and a free tech demo. If it was a free pack-in, this would've felt like an entirely different experience. But alas, it is unfortunately its own thing, and it's a thing that I hope does not become commonplace.

Worth the price of admission?

Screenshot by Destructoid

You have to pay for admission to get into most museums in the world, and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour is no different. At $10, many are scoffing at the price for what's basically an educational tech demo, and I can't fault anyone for it.

NS2 Welcome Tour presents the Switch 2 and its peripherals as an explorable museum. You select a character from people standing in line and then use them to walk around the giant Switch 2 and all of its components.

You begin at the left JoyCon and then gain access to the rest of the console by discovering all of its buttons and functions, completing mini-games and challenges along the way. Games include using the new mouse function of the right JoyCon to dodge spiked balls or honing in on a spot that's vibrating hardest with the new Rumble 2 features of the controller, but nothing exciting or worth playing again.

One mini-game showed off the original Super Mario Bros. game in its original pixel size when compared to 4K resolution. Another demo utilizing the touch screen forces you to contort your fingers to touch a bunch of colored circles all at the same time. This and other demos feel more like a chore than anything else.

The digital museum is populated with a bunch of silly little demonstrations of how far we've come in technology and how Nintendo has iterated on the original console, but as a "game," there's not much replay value or fun outside of the initial playthrough.

Learning is fun! (?)

Nintendo Switch 2 quiz screen
Screenshot by Destructoid

The demos and exploration as supplemented by quizzes that you can take after learning about new features on the console, like the new console stand, its screen, and more. It's educational, but also feels like doing homework.

It's nice to see the new technology behind the console. But this could've been presented as a free demo, and it would've been just fine. Asking people to pay $10 for it is absolutely playing with fire, and I think Nintendo knows it.

Completionists may find joy in running around, finding secrets, discovering all of the ins and outs of the new console and its peripherals, and finishing off a checklist. Even then, the game requires a 4K TV, the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera, and the Switch 2 Pro Controller for full completion. Yikes. And outside of that, the "fun" level here is pretty low.

Is it worth the $10? That's entirely up to you and how much you value each penny. For myself, it's tough to say because I got it for free to review it. If you're super into Nintendo and want to know more about how the console was made, it's a nice addition. But the playable parts of the game itself are nothing special, and it all comes down to your own financial situation whether or not it's worth it to try out.

In the end, NS2 Welcome Tour feels like an interactive manual on how the Switch 2 works. It's not entirely devoid of joy, but I also can't recommend it. But, if you come from the camp of "hey, it's just $10," then by all means, have at it.

Peter Pan sitting and floating in the air in Disney Dreamlight Valley

After nearly two years of waiting, it's finally time to explore Skull Rock with Disney Dreamlight Valley's Mysteries of Skull Rock update. Like all updates, it's packed with content to explore, so if you don't know where to start, reviewing the patch notes is a good way to get going.

The update isn't out yet, but if you want to be ready to go as soon as it drops, learning everything it includes ahead of time is the best way to do so. We already know all of the major features included in this one, so here are the early patch notes for Disney Dreamlight Valley's Mysteries of Skull Rock update.

The Mysteries of Skull Rock update for DDV primarily focuses on continuing the main storyline and befriending Peter Pan. There are plenty of other features packed into this content expansion, though, so here's a breakdown of everything it includes.

Two new characters

Peter Pan and The Forgotten are officially unlockable villagers with this update. Both characters come with plenty of friendship quests and rewards to unlock. You can also rename The Forgotten to whatever you like.

Skull Rock

Skull Rock is officially opening as a new explorable area. It'll function similarly to the Mystical Cave, Ariel's boat, and the Vitalys Mine, so you can venture inside to travel to a vast new region. It's not a Peter Pan Realm, so there's perhaps still hope one may arrive in a future update with other characters from this film.

The inside of Skull Rock features a massive ship, multiple rocky levels, and seems to have puzzles you need to solve. It's a vast area hiding many secrets, so even though it's not a Realm, there's still plenty to uncover.

Adventures in Neverland Star Path

The Adventures in Neverland Star Path event starts in this update and will run until the next one arrives. As the name hints, all items featured in it are themed around Neverland and the many characters who reside there. So far, all of the items teased to be included in this Star Path are as follows.

  • Mermaid Minnie Mouse Dream Style
  • Pirate Goofy Dream Style
  • Pirate outfit (likely based on Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean)
  • Pirate Monkey critter companion
  • Mermaid furniture, including a conch that blows bubbles, a gazebo, a large shell, and an archway
  • Pirate furniture, including a ship wheel, a crafting station, and a cooking station

Companion improvements

Critter companions are about to be a lot more useful and unique as they receive several improvements in this update. The first major update is that they'll all have friendship rewards, similar to villagers, so you can grow closer to them to unlock new items and abilities. Some of the new abilities allow them to help you out as you tackle tasks around the valley.

Another change is that you can freely name your adorable friends whatever you like. All critters can be renamed except for those that are characters from Disney movies and shows like Pua, Figaro, and Hei Hei.

New camera options

This update is quietly adding some fresh camera options and improvements. The main one is the ability to sit down when taking pictures, which is a massive win, especially if you regularly participate in DreamSnaps challenges.

There's at least one additional change arriving in this update, but it's currently unclear what it is. During the developer livestream on June 4 that revealed the Mysteries of Skull Rock update, a new button was displayed in photo mode near the middle right edge of the screen.

Based on what we saw, I think it could be an idle animation player for all villagers in the picture, so you can more easily capture them in pictures, but we won't know for sure until the update arrives. There may be even more camera additions that haven't been revealed yet since these ones were only shown, not mentioned.

Max Premium Bundle

Prince Eric's loyal dog Max is arriving as a new critter companion you can have at your side with a fresh The Little Mermaid Premium Bundle. This bundle costs 4,500 Moonstones and comes with a collection of items themed around Max and Prince Eric's ship. All of the items featured in this collection are as follows.

  • Max companion
  • Max's houseboat furniture item
  • Nautical fireplace furniture item
  • Nautical four-poster bed furniture item
  • Nautical cabinet furniture item
  • Nautical rug furniture item
  • Nautical window furniture item
  • Nautical light furniture item

Max can dig up items around the valley while hanging out with you. He's also got some adorable camera poses and special interactions with Prince Eric and Ariel when he runs into them around the valley.

When is the Mysteries of Skull Rock update for Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Mysteries of Skull Rock update launches on June 18 for all players. The exact launch time varies depending on your region, but it's sent out at the same time for everyone. Some platforms may take longer to deploy it, but Gameloft sends it out to everyone at once.

mario kart world full map

Mario Kart World has a modest 32 tracks available for you to race on on various different modes and that doesn't even include the eight Battle Mode stages as well, giving you a nice variety to play whether you take on the Grand Prix mode or pick a course to race on against friends or in free roam.

With so many tracks available, it can be hard to distinguish between the new and returning retro courses. Four tracks, like Rainbow Road, are only unlocked after completing all the other Grand Prix clubs. So here's every track available, alongside which ones are new, and which are the retro courses.

Every Mario Kart World track

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGKO9mMY53w&ab_channel=NintendoUnity

The full list of tracks in their respective Grand Prix cups includes the following, with the name of a game next to them if they are retro tracks returning to the series.

Mushroom Cup

  • Mario Bros. Circuit
  • Crown City
  • Whistlestop Summit
  • DK Spaceport

Flower Cup

  • Desert Hills (Mario Kart DS)
  • Shy Guy Bazaar (Mario Kart 7)
  • Wario Stadium (Mario Kart 64)
  • Airship Fortress (Mario Kart DS)

Star Cup

  • DK Pass (Mario Kart DS)
  • Starview Peak
  • Sky-High Sundae (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe)
  • Wario Shipyard (Mario Kart 7)

Shell Cup

  • Koopa Troopa Beach (Super Mario Kart)
  • Faraway Oasis
  • Crown City
  • Peach Stadium

Banana Cup

  • Peach Beach (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!)
  • Salty Salty Speedway
  • Dino Dino Jungle (Mario Kart: Double Dash!!)
  • Great ? Block Ruins

Leaf Cup

  • Cheep Cheep Falls
  • Dandelion Depths
  • Boo Cinema
  • Dry Bones Burnout

Lightning Cup

  • Moo Moo Meadows (Mario Kart Wii)
  • Choco Mountain (Mario Kart 64)
  • Toad's Factory (Mario Kart Wii)
  • Bowser's Castle

Special Cup

  • Acorn Heights
  • Mario Circuit (Super Mario Kart)
  • Peach Stadium
  • Rainbow Road

And there we have it. On the plus side, at least there are no mobile Mario Kart tracks (for now, at least), with most of the tracks being some fan-favorites from previous generations. Tracks will also combine into different combinations when playing the Knockout Tour.

Mario Kart World art

Even after all of the hullabaloo about Mario Kart World becoming the first game to enter the bold new territory of the $80 price tag (deservedly so), I wouldn't be surprised to see it near the top of the list of the highest-selling games of all time in just a few years.

Mario Kart World is the latest and potentially greatest in the long-running arcade racer franchise, brought to the next level with the Nintendo Switch 2's hardware and an expansive roster of racers, tracks, and endless fun to be had.

Improved, classic racing rage, now prettier than ever

Mario and Luigi bumping into each other during a race in Mario Kart World
Image via Nintendo

Mario Kart World is the same Mario Kart we've all grown up with and love, but evolved, and more gorgeous than ever, especially when played at 4K with HDR enabled. Everything shines and glows with glorious fidelity at a level that Nintendo has never previously been capable of. That changes with the Switch 2.

The game runs like butter in both handheld mode and docked mode, with only some slight hitches when playing in split-screen mode with other players and the Switch 2 Camera hooked up, but it's worth it for the fun of seeing your friend's faces fly by you as you race. And even more worth it when they get hit by an item and you see their little webcam icon flipping and tumbling around.

Racing has never been more fun and skillful than with the new additions of mechanics like charge jumps, wall-riding, and rail-grinding, all of which give a slight speed boost and will separate the best racers from the pack. There's definitely a skill gap here, and those who practice these new maneuvers will be rewarded greatly…until the Blue Shell comes.

Classic modes like Grand Prix and multiplayer races are all here, along with battle modes like Coin Runners and Balloon Battle, but the big new addition is Knockout Tour. This is basically battle royale with each game starting with the new max of 24 racers, wherein four players are knocked out at checkpoints as the race continues from track to track until a singular winner is crowned, making for a new sense of urgency and excitement in every lap.

Image via Nintendo

A lot of fun will be had with this mode in particular, especially given how popular modes like this have become over the years. I'm expecting it to be a top mode in the game once players get their hands on it, even with the typical and classic suite of multiplayer modes also in the game.

Freedom and exploration unlock more potential

When not racing, and even in between races, the other big addition to the game is Free Roam mode, where you can explore the massive map that all of the game's tracks are placed on. You can travel from track to track without being confined to anything, and exploration is fully encouraged.

Luigi and Mario in Mario Kart World
Image via Nintendo

Even when not in Free Roam, races take place in the world itself as racers will transfer from track to track after crossing the finish line, beginning in a somewhat-jarring rolling start for subsequent tracks. You get used to it after a while, but it's very different at first.

While in Free Roam, you can open up a world map to see all of the unlockables you have both found and are missing, and you can fast travel to any track to explore its inner workings and its surrounding areas with ease.

The open world is full of discoverable items and unlockables such as stickers for your karts, new outfits and racers, and more. In total, the amount of unlockable items numbers well into the hundreds, and the number of racers is in triple digits as well.

Additional new outfits for racers unlock new characters to play as at drive-thru locations on each track and in the open world as consumables called Dash Food. Most characters (of which there are dozens, including deep cuts like Conkdor and Sidestepper, along with the fan-favorite Cow) have multiple themed outfits, but my favorite is Waluigi's Wampire skin. He looks ridiculous.

I do wish there were a bit more of a variety of things to do in the open world map, though, as it is largely devoid of actual things to do within its openness aside from P-Switches, Peach Medallions, and other minor goals.

Yoshi Mario Kart World

But when it comes to playing and unlocking new content, you can get new racers, karts, and other items passively, too. There are lifetime challenges like distance traveled, coins collected, tricks performed, and many others to keep players racing for hundreds and hundreds of hours.

A player dressed as a pirate standing with Peter Pan by a treehouse in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Peter Pan is soaring into Disney Dreamlight Valley straight from Neverland, and he's bringing with him plenty of fresh content to explore. The Mysteries of Skull Rock update promises to be a big one, so you need to know exactly when it launches so you can start playing.

Like all updates, this one comes with new characters, another Star Path event, improvements, and much more. There's a lot to see and do, so here is the exact time and date the Mysteries of Skull Rock update will be released for Disney Dreamlight Valley.

When is the Mysteries of Skull Rock update in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Mysteries of Skull Rock update for DDV will be released at 8am CT on June 18. So far, only the precise launch date has been confirmed, but every update that's been released since DDV launched back in 2022 has become available at this time. The only time this has varied is due to unforeseen delays or issues, which don't happen very often.

We've got our countdown timer set to precisely this time, so you can check back here as needed to see how much longer you have to wait. If you want to know the precise launch time for your region, we've also translated it across major time zones.

[hurrytimer id="1074791"]

  • PT: 6am on June 18
  • CT: 8am on June 18
  • ET: 9am on June 18
  • BST: 2pm on June 18
  • CEST: 3pm on June 18
  • JST: 10pm on June 18
  • AEST: 11pm on June 18

What's included in the Mysteries of Skull Rock update in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

The Myseries of Skull Rock update features two new characters, a new explorable area, a fresh Star Path event, critter companion improvements, and much more. Here's everything we know about it so far.

The biggest part of this update is the arrival of Peter Pan. The leader of the lost boys is bringing with him an array of quests to tackle and unique friendship rewards to earn. His house is the lost boys tree from Peter Pan, so you also have a new building to make room for.

The player dressed as a pirate standing with The Forgotten in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There's a second new character in this update, but they're a bit more complex. The second individual is The Forgotten, the shadowy counterpart to our avatar. They've been around the valley for a long time, but we'll finally be able to name and hang out with them as a proper villager in this update.

To progress the main storyline and your friendship with both characters, you need to venture inside Skull Rock and uncover what secrets are waiting inside. It's not an official Peter Pan Realm, but instead a new secret map area similar to the Vitalys Mines or the Mystical Cave.

This update also introduces the Adventures in Neverland Star Path event. It's packed with lots of pirate and mermaid-themed items to fit the general Peter Pan theme for this update. Some of the items included are fresh outfits for Minnie Mouse and Goofy, mermaid furniture, and a pirate Monkey critter.

In the realm of improvements, all critter companions are getting a massive upgrade. They'll now have friendship levels, rewards, and the ability to be named as long as they're not a specific character from a Disney film like Pua or Hei Hei. They can also help you gather resources while you tackle village tasks.

There's plenty to look forward to in this update, but there's also a lot you need to get done before it arrives. Be sure to finish all Dreamlight Parks Fest event quests before the event ends, since it will be over as soon as the next update arrives. This includes tackling several key duties like Mine Time!Destination: Imagination, Oh, BotherSquirrel!, and A Shining Icon.

diddy and donkey kong redesigns

Let's cut straight to the chase. Diddy Kong is not in Mario Kart World, and I can hear the cries of agony from the DKC faithful as I reveal that information for anyone lucky enough to pick up a Nintendo Switch 2 today.

No matter how many races you go on or how badly you search around, Donkey Kong's little sidekick is nowhere to be found in the world as a playable character or either an Easter egg, and while that's unfortunate for fans, I'm not surprised.

Diddy Kong was not a part of Mario Kart 8 at the start either, with Nintendo choosing the hold him back for potentially future DLC. And considering how this is Nintendo's first big Switch 2 game, we imagine a big DLC expansion is on the cards in at least a year with new racers and tracks, and maybe even a few Nintendo characters to make a cameo like Zelda and Animal Crossing did in Mario Kart 8, and Splatoon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pE23YTYEZM&ab_channel=NintendoofAmerica

Even without Diddy Kong, the game's roster is pretty packed with a bunch of new and returning faces, on top of the various costumes you can find by eating foot items around the world. There is also an amazing crop of random enemy NPCs to find by random chance as you explore the world and play games, so theres plenty of content to sink your teeth in.

But I know, I get it Diddy Kong fans, we wanted to see him in the game too, and heck, we don't even know if he will appear in Donkey Kong Bananza next month. Why so much Diddy Kong hate, Nintendo!? Who knows, maybe the reason Diddy Kong isn't here is because they are saving the character for a brand new Diddy Kong Racing game... we can hope, right?
