A new Rust update today has rolled out a heap of the fixes for some of the survival game's longest-running frustrations and foibles. Developer Facepunch Studios has been deploying some hefty overhauls in recent months, but for September it's taken a slight step back from piling in new features to steady the ship and refine on what's already there. The Rust Maintenance update is "focused on tackling a number of long-standing bugs and improvements" based on community feedback.

To get the maximum enjoyment possible from the newly released Order of Giants DLC, you're going to need nothing less than a modern, high-end gaming PC to tackle the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle system requirements. Anything older is going to put you in trouble because this game is simply greedy for your system resources across the board. In fact, you'll need a GPU with hardware ray tracing to even meet the minimum specs.

The requirements for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are hard-hitting, but remain unchanged even after the release of the Order of Giants DLC. If you want to run this game on the highest Ultra settings, with full ray tracing enabled, you're going to need an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090, or another of the best graphics card picks from our helpful buying guide. However, if you're happy to play Indy at 1080p on low presets, you'll be okay with a less powerful rig, but you're still going to need a GPU that supports ray tracing.

We can help you find the best Schedule 1 settings for PC and Steam Deck as the game enters a new phase following update 0.4.0, also known as Cartel Rivals. As more new content is added to Schedule 1, performance is also improved, and while it's not the most demanding game we've tested, some minor graphical tweaks are needed to get the most out of its visuals.

You won't need the best graphics card to start playing Schedule 1; this much was confirmed in the Schedule 1 system requirements.  Playing on a handheld, however, might be tricky until proper controller support is added, although we have found a workaround if you want to play Schedule 1 on Steam Deck.

The Schedule 1 Steam Deck rating can be seen as a little misleading, at least compared to how Valve has dealt with other games with little to no controller support. You'll need to make some changes if you want to play using the Steam Deck controls; otherwise, a mouse and keyboard are required.

While there's no issue with Valve rating Steam Deck games that don't have the best controller support as playable, it should be called out more explicitly. It's easy enough for someone to just buy the best Steam Deck Dock from our buying guide and hook up a mouse and keyboard to get the full experience, but that defeats the object for players who want to use the Deck as a handheld. Outside of this issue, the Schedule 1 system requirements are super low, which makes running the game on the best gaming handheld a breeze.

What can we expect from the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Super specs? Nvidia may not have even officially announced this gaming GPU yet, but several leaks already point to it offering a solid upgrade over the existing RTX 5070. Not only is it looking likely to have more rendering power to improve gaming performance, but it's also rumored to have 50% more memory.

The latter could make this Nvidia GPU much more competitive, as the testing for my original RTX 5070 review revealed a card that simply fell over once you started enabling advanced ray tracing features in some of the latest games, as it didn't have enough VRAM. Comparatively, while the competing AMD Radeon RX 9070 is more expensive when it comes to real-world pricing, it's generally more powerful across the board, even if it can't cope with Doom The Dark Ages path tracing.

It feels almost surreal to be writing about Hollow Knight Silksong in a present sense rather than a potential one, but here we are. So far, Team Cherry's long-anticipated sequel appears to be a resounding success - a high of over half a million concurrent players on Steam, with 'overwhelmingly positive' reviews currently at a 96% recommendation rate. I doubt many of those have finished the Metroidvania sequel yet, but the response is clearly strong. The art and animation are gorgeous, the music is sublime, and the action feels just as good as its predecessor. But there's one aspect that's proving to be its most divisive part: Hornet's signature dive attack.

What's in the rumored new Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 Super gaming GPU? Several leaks now point to a new high-end Nvidia graphics card coming out soon, with 50% more VRAM than the existing RTX 5080, and possibly much faster memory speeds too. In this guide, we take a look at the rumored RTX 5080 Super specs, as well as speculation about the price and launch window.

As I found in my RTX 5080 review, this $999 Nvidia gaming GPU is potent enough to have a place on our guide to buying the best graphics card, but its 16GB of VRAM held it back in some high-end tests, such as running Indiana Jones and the Great Circle at 4K with path tracing enabled. That problem could be solved in one fell swoop if the RTX 5080 Super rumors are true, as they point to this GPU having a massive 24GB of VRAM.

Hollow Knight: Silksong developers Team Cherry are "working to improve" the game's Simplified Chinese translation, following "quality issues" which have seen its Steam user reviews from those speaking the language drop to "mixed".

As you can easily see thanks to Steam's recent introduction of language-specific review splits, the mixed reviews are unique to the 6,382 people who've left verdicts in Simplified Chinese so far. For every other language, including Traditional Chinese, the impressions being left are either mostly or overwhelmingly positive, though it's worth noting that a sizeable number are more shows of support for Team Cherry than proper reviews, being based on less than an hour's playtime.

My first memory is of ants. Just ants. It's one of those very early ones that are nothing but a momentary snapshot now, long since worn with use and subconsciously filled in with probably inaccurate details and context. They were moving around on a white doorframe, and I don't remember the surroundings, or what I was doing, what I did with this observation, or whether anyone even told me what ants are or whether I already knew. But I remember a fascination that never left me. I will, as ever, die for them. To be fair, I'd die for basically anyone who is a cool animal and/or passably feigns friendship, but whatever. The point is: ants.

You'd think I would have played Empires Of The Undergrowth sooner.

I meant to! For years! Being Ants is one of those dream game concepts, and an incredibly difficult one to translate to a workable, satisfying design that isn't hyper simplified or a glorified reskin. And Slug Disco have kind of gone ahead and done it.

Not gonna lie, readers, Hollow Knight: Silksong is kicking my teeth in, with gracious yet far more powerful legswings than Hollow Knight's early stages ever managed. There's a jumping-puzzly bit two hours in that took me about the same amount of time to clear, and the bosses seem generally sweatier too. I'm fairly sure one of them used an impossibly rapid flurry of sword slashes to spell out "Do one, James Archer of Rock Paper Shotgun dot com" in my flesh.

In other words, the review's coming on Monday at the earliest. But I do think I've endured enough to determine that Silksong is a very, very good match for the Steam Deck, making small but welcome compatibility improvements over the original (in addition to its new, desktop-minded ultrawide support).

In case you missed it, a plucky little game no one had heard anything about whatsoever arrived yesterday. Hollow Knight: Silksong. Yeah, I know, it's news to me too. Anyway, what's also news is that Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone has a voice acting cameo in Skong. Though, he's being all coy about revealing when and where you can hear his dulcet tones.

This came to light because of some valiant folks who've already made it to Silksong's end credits, presumably having pulled mammoth sessions last night, as our own Ollie did to provide you lot with some helpful early game walkthroughs. Or, you know, they've gone to the extras bit of the main menu and pressed the button that rolls the credits.

The recent announcement of Stardew Valley 1.7 update is not evidence that Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone's next game Haunted Chocolatier has been banished to the realm of vapourware - or so sayeth Barone himself, at least. In a brief and caveat-strewn Q&A, the life sim creator has gone into more depth about development on Stardew, revealing that he's not as heavily involved with it as with previous updates. As such, he's still focussing "the vast majority" of his attention on Haunted Chocolatier.

It's even possible that the latter will release before Stardew Valley's next update, but let's not count our Cocoa Loco Little Choc Chicks (£6.99 minus delivery costs) before they've hatched.

The Forge Daughter in Hollow Knight Silksong

The Crafting Kit is one of the most valuable items to find in Hollow Knight Silksong, and it becomes almost a must-have once you get enough tools in your inventory.

Tools represent items that offer certain in-game benefits thanks to their modifiers. While you can't upgrade them (yet to find one), you can enhance their in-game effects with the help of a Crafting Kit. Let's find out how they work and how you can obtain them inside the game.

How does a Crafting Kit work in Hollow Knight Silksong?

Crafting Kits are obtained from vendors in exchange for Rosaries, and they can be pretty expensive. Here's the official in-game description of the item.

Crafting by claw alone produces inferior results. With this kit you can craft finer, sharper, and deadlier tools… if that is your wish."

Interestingly, it's not used for either crafting anything or upgrading the needle. Instead, it will passively improve the effects of your tools. If you have a tool like the Shard Pendant, you'll get more rewards from it. If you have a tool that does extra damage to enemies, you'll dish out more DPS. You don't have to do anything extra; just add the Crafting Kit to your inventory.

The Crafting Kit passives have four tiers (as of writing). The more Crafting Kits you add, the stronger the passive effect becomes.

How to get Crafting Kit in Hollow Knight Silksong?

Crafting Kits are obtained from vendors that you come across in specific locations. I got the first one at the Deep Docks from the Forge Daughter. Once you enter Deep Docs, don't go east where Lace is located. Instead, go down, battle a group of enemies, and exit the room. Then, go right and then up to find a lever that opens the vendor and a bench to take a rest and save your progress.

You can purchase the Crafting Kit from Forge Daughter by spending 180 Rosaries. It's slightly expensive, but the passive makes it worth it. The remaining Crafting Kits could likely be more expensive, so make sure to farm as many Rosaries as possible.

The Seamtress from Hollow Knight: Silksong

As you tour through Far Fields in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you're all but guaranteed to run into Seamstress. She's a snippy old weaver with lots of time on her hands, and she'll use that talent to set you up with one of the best upgrades in the game.

However, Seamstress's aid doesn't come free: she'll only help you after you give her 25 Spine Cores. Getting these items is a little tricky, but the reward waiting at the end of this quest is more than worth the trouble. Here's how to complete the "Flexile Spines" quest in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

How to farm Spine Cores in Hollow Knight: Silksong

Once you've agreed to Seamtress' offer, you'll want to head through the doorway to the right of her massive hut. This leads you to a long stretch of rooms that are littered with the monsters that produce Flexile Spines: little ball-shaped bugs that'll try to nail you with projectile spikes. These guys usually fire up to four spikes in a cross or X-shaped configuration, but I noticed them fire six spikes in a circle a few times.

Beating these monsters is pretty simple. Jump up and hit them once they're close enough, but make sure you're not standing in the path of one of their spikes. They take a while to fire, but the spikes move really fast, so you'll want to keep your finger near the Swift Step button.

Unfortunately, these enemies don't always drop Spine Cores when they're killed, and even if they do, they'll usually end up falling into an exposed lava vein. Luckily, I found out a little trick during my playthrough. The spikes these enemies' fire will stick to whatever they hit (except you) for a few seconds. If you hit these spikes before they disappear, they'll always drop a Spine Core!

If you're willing to be a little patient, you can farm every Spine Core you need off the first enemy you find. That said, I'd recommend exploring the entire area. Lots of the enemies in here drop Rosaries, and the area loops back in on itself eventually, so you'll end up back at Seamtress's place in no time.

Once you've brought all 25 Spine Cores back to Seamtress, she'll give you the Drifter's Cloak. This upgrade to Hornet's signature crimson mantle lets you ride updrafts, slow your falls, and glide short distances, enabling you to explore the rest of Far Fields and continue your journey to the peak of Pharloom. Of course, you'll have to beat the Fourth Chorus first. Happy hunting!

A potentially standalone College Basketball game, long rumored in gaming circles, is back on track, and it's currently in the works.

Gaming heavyweight 2K officially confirmed the news late on Sept. 4 and shared some interesting details about the upcoming project. Contrary to some popular beliefs, EA Sports won't be taking care of it from the looks of it, after having rescinded its licensing offers. Moreover, we might have got the first indication towards a potential release date, and we will have to wait for the time being.

2K College Basketball could take till 2027 to develop

Earlier on Sept. 4, 2K shared the news that they're currently working on a college basketball "experience". The news comes on NBA 2K26's launch week, which is already available on advanced access across PC and consoles.

According to the tweet, the college basketball experience will feature over 100 programs across the country. 2K Sports' approach towards college basketball will ensure that their partner schools, players, and athletes benefit from the program. The news comes after EA Sports reportedly rescinded offers to certain schools and gave up on plans for a college basketball game.

While an exact release date hasn't been announced, 2027 is the expected timeline. That said, we might be able to find certain promos featuring college superstars as early as 2026 in NBA 2K26. This is just my prediction based on the wording of the official tweet, so it's best to wait and watch.

It has been long rumored that 2K Sports will be adding the college basketball experience as a DLC, unlike EA Sports, who were aiming for a standalone game. That seems to have changed with the tone of this announcement. Moreover, a major reason behind EA Sports rescinding its offer has to do with certain schools prefering and accepting 2K Sports' proposal. Whether 2K Sports goes for a full-scale launch of a separate video game remains to be seen.

It will be interesting to find what "surprises" await us in 2026. However, it looks clear that there will be a standalone game in all likelihood, and it will be from 2K. Till then, your best bet for enjoying basketball virtually is NBA 2K26.
