Ten hours into Arc Raiders, I felt betrayal's sharp sting for the first time.

The round began with generosity. I met a fellow raider who had dropped me a rare shotgun as well as a damaged heat sink to upgrade my workbench. They asked nothing in return. It was one of many friendly encounters I've had roaming the surface of Arc Raiders' hostile maps, but I also felt my heart rate rise: when you die you lose everything you're carrying, so I knew I had to reach an extraction point quickly and quietly.

On the way, I met another player. We exchanged "don't shoot" emotes followed by our actual voices on proximity chat, agreeing to cover each other until the exit. I even dropped him some bandages.

Fool.

New Chainsaw Man Movie Clip Shows Reze Singing Her Song

Now that the Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc film is out worldwide, Mappa released a trailer showing Reze singing her song "Jane Slept in the Church" that also includes some spoilers. This is a track with lyrics that were written by the series' creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, and Reze voice actress Reina Ueda performed it. It also featured a number of other scenes from the movie.

Editor's Note: The "Jane Slept in the Church" song trailer features spoilers from Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc.

Reze sings the song "Jane Slept in the Church" in Russian at a point in Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc, hinting at her origins and expressing her feelings during certain situations. In the trailer, we also see Aki riding in a car with the Angel Devil during the current situation and Makima at a desk. The full Tatsuki Fujimoto song from the film is played in that video.

Here's that full video:

This follows a number of other trailers and announcements that revealed some of the spoilers from Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc. One clearly featured Bomb Girl in a number of moments, a character obscured prior to the film's release, and Beam the Shark Fiend came up more often. You can see that one video below.

Good Smile Company also fully revealed the extra parts for the Reze Nendoroid on social media. Previously, it kept those secret.

Oshi no Ko Anime Season 3 January 2026 Release Date Shared

Crunchyroll shared the release date for season three of the anime adaptation of Oshi no Ko while also confirming the show will appear there and get a new theme song by Natori. The latest run will start on January 14, 2026. As usual with simulcast shows, it'll appear worldwide not long after it runs in Japan. There's a new trailer showing it off and highlighting the new ending theme.

Season 3 of the Oshi no Ko anime catches up with the English release of the manga, as it seems to start with the events of volume 10. Both Aqua and Ruby are both working on the show Dig Deep, all while the new B-Komachi is starting to gain notoriety. While Aqua ended up behind most recent plots in the series, the events in season 2 and volumes 8 and 9 led to Ruby losing her innocence, as it were, and deciding to get her hands dirty with her own schemes. We'll see that play out in the new season, and the newest trailer

Here's the new season 3 trailer for the show. If you turn on closed captions, there are English subtitles. The Natori Oshi no Ko ending theme song called "Serenade" comes up at about the 30 second mark.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UilRDldO_g

In the past, the Oshi no Ko anime was a HIDIVE exclusive.

Season 3 of Oshi no Ko has a January 14, 2026 release date, and it will be streaming on Crunchyroll. Seasons 1-2 are on HIDIVE. Yen Press handles the manga, light novels, and art books.

Final Fantasy XI Login Campaign Changes Detailed

Square Enix confirmed four changes are coming to the Final Fantasy XI login campaign program, which are designed to add new items to get and make it easier to get older rewards in the MMORPG. This also means that point caps will be altered and changed, with one of the most notable ones being that we can only carry over 700 points from past months instead of 1,500. All alterations take effect when the event starts on November 5, 2025, which is also when the company will share the rewards for the month and points needed for them.

First, the announcement about the Final Fantasy XI login campaign event noted the goal would be to make it easier to get alter egos and older items, while also offering new rewards and encouraging people to show up every single day. Part of that drove the two changes involving point distribution and caps. From here on out, bonus points only appear after you've logged in for 15 days, instead of showing up on the first day, and the amount of points doled out each day will be smaller than before until you log in 14 times in a single month.

As for the rewards, the announcement also went over those Final Fantasy XI login changes and showed screenshots of Tarutaru with them. Old items will cost less. We don't know how much until the update on November 5, 2025, but the statement referred to it as "a fairly large reduction." New ones, depending on the type, will be the same price as previously or might be part of a new tier that will cost more. Unity accolades will come up when reforging and more ways to get materials to upgrade will appear.

Here are the two screenshots that Square Enix shared.

This comes after a major change in October 2025 took place to alleviate congestion in the Final Fantasy MMORPG. Due to how popular the Bahamut world is, it ended up being closed off in some ways to newcomers.

Final Fantasy XI is available for the PC, and the November 2025 login campaign begins on November 5, 2025.

Yidhari 'Wrote' Her Own Zenless Zone Zero Character Demo Trailer

Yidhari is about to become the latest Spook Shack character and new S-rank Agent in Zenless Zone Zero, and HoYoVerse shared a new Character Demo type trailer going over her moveset and gameplay. It's unique in that, as she's a writer, she actually created the scenario and situation we watch.

Yidhari is an Ice type Agent in the game, and she'll be the third Rupture type one to debut. This role only appeared in Zenless Zone Zero starting with 2.0, with Yunkui Summit's Yixuan and fellow Spook Shack character Komano Manato being the only other two. That means she's a DPS designed to hit incredibly hard. Her video begins with her setting the stage for a scenario with an Ethereal at a subway station. Fortunately, she's there to hit back with her hammer. From there, animated segments are interspersed into it.

Here's the "Self-Directed, Starring Myself" Zenless Zone Zero trailer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Zo_zbHmOpI

This is one of multiple Zenless Zone Zero trailers that showcased new Spook Squad character Yidhari. One of the first one involved her "calling" the player character to tell them a scary story. You can hear that one below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p_5CCgRNjg

The other one focuses on the fact that she's something of a "sea monster" due to being an octopus Thiren. It casts her as the entity who haunts a town, with three rumors hinting at her.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-dkyslN_4s

Zenless Zone Zero is available on the PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices, and the Yidhari banner starts on November 5, 2025. A Lucia banner is just about to end.

Global Version of Umamusume Gets Year 1 Balance Adjustments Early

In Japan, a number of Umamusume: Pretty Derby balance adjustments came up around the first anniversary of the game, and Cygames announced that rebalancing update will arrive early in the global release alongside the worldwide Half Anniversary Celebration. That patch will appear on November 11, 2025. The majority of the adjustments affect Career mode, both in terms of rewards, choices, bad conditions, Trainee events, and Support card events. However, general races are also affected due to the addition of new systems and skill activation changes.

Essentially, many of the Career balance adjustments in Umamusume seem to deal with situations that might have seemed unfair prior to the update, ensuring rebalancing adjusts Support Card deck event appearance rates, increases parameter gains, and odds of healing poor conditions. Especially notable is that Career events might cure conditions, Etsuko Otonashi Training could remove Slacker, and opting to rest could heal some status effects.

As for the changes that affect actual races, many of those adjustments involve the trigger conditions for learned skills. However, there are some general adjustments that will influence every mode. Dueling and Spot Struggle systems will be enabled to create more pressure when passing in some situations. Guts will finally become more useful, as it will affect someone's performance in the "last spurt." In general, navigation and endurance skills will become more valuable, due to the former affecting passing and latter increasing strength.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is available for the PC and mobile devices, and the major balance adjustment will bring rebalancing changes to Career and races worldwide on November 11, 2025. You can see the dozens of changes in the full November 11, 2025 Umamusume: Pretty Derby balance adjustments patch notes that go over Career, racing, Trainee, and skill rebalancing on the official site.

Raidou Remastered Demo Debuts This Week

It took about five months after the game's launch, but Atlus announced it will release a demo for Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army. The company's Japanese social media account confirmed it will show up on storefronts on November 5, 2025. The trial launching this week will be a bit limited in scope, however, as it will only cover the Switch 2, PS5, and PC. The JRPG also appeared on the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

The announcement regarding the Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army demo was short, but did offer some hints as to what to expect. This will be one that lets us continue our progress after we start playing the trial. As such, we can expect a slice of the game that starts at the beginning of the adventure. That save file will let us continue without any delay or backtracking. This does mean you should pick the platform where you think you'll continue onward.

As a reminder, this is a remaster of the PS2 game Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs the Soulless Army. We follow the new Raidou Kuzunoha XIV as he steps into the role to help protect Tokyo from demons and people who would abuse their power. Immediately after taking up the mantle and joining Narumi Detective Agency, our avatar gets involved in such a case, which means befriending demons of our own to fight back and protect the city and its people.

Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army is on the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Switch 2, PS5, and PC demo debuts on November 5, 2025.

Evangelion crossover event in Granblue Fantasy - Bonds of Phantasmal Blue

Cygames has published details on a new Granblue Fantasy crossover event that will add characters from the Evangelion franchise. The event, titled "Bonds of Phantasmal Blue" in English, will be available temporarily throughout November 2025.

The main highlights of this crossover will be the additions of Shinji Ikari and Rei Ayanami as recruitable party members. Shinji and his Evangelion Unit 01 will be available upon reaching the interlude of the crossover story that launches on November 5, 2025. Meanwhile, Rei and her Evangelion Unit 00 will be unlockable later by clearing Episode 4-4, which will be part of the story's latter half that appears later on November 10, 2025.

In addition, Mari Makinami Illustrious and her Evangelion Unit 08 will appear as a summon unit. She will be available via the crossover's Event Quest, along with a Generic Longinus Spear as an obtainable weapon. Players will also be able to witness pincer attacks from Shinji and Kaworu for the duration of the event.

The Evangelion crossover story in Granblue Fantasy will also feature more characters from the franchise, such as Asuka Shikinami Langley, Misato Katsuragi, Ritsuko Akagi, and Maya Ibuki. But while Cygames has also teased a crossover gacha banner with up to 5 free pulls, it has yet to confirm whether the Evangelion Unit 02 pilot Asuka will be recruitable or not.

Cygames has been frequently holding crossover events featuring numerous external IPs in Granblue Fantasy. In 2024, it notably held crossovers based on My Hero Academia and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

Granblue Fantasy is available on mobile devices and internet browsers. The Evangelion crossover event "Bonds of Phantasmal Blue" will take place on November 5-17, 2025.

Review: Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment Is a Slower Paced Musou The Legend of Zelda

The first Hyrule Warriors game turned out to be a Musou based on the The Legend of Zelda series that was open to absolutely everyone. It featured an original story. Tons of familiar faces were present, like Sheik, Midna, Fi, Tingle, Skull Kid, Impa, and so many versions of Link and Zelda. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity ended up being a deeper cut due to its nature as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It still proved fascinating and had folks we'd know, but you needed to play the other game to get it. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment feels like the most niche entry yet, given it's focus on Zelda's side of the story during the events of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and that combined with some other atypical Musou features may make it more difficult to approach than its predecessors.

If you haven't played through The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and only went through Breath of the Wild or Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, then you'll find Age of Imprisonment begins with some rather substantial spoilers! In the opening of that installment, Zelda is teleported into the distant past before the start of the Imprisoning War between King Rauru and Queen Sonia of Hyrule and Ganondorf. Shortly after arriving in that period, she's discovered by Rauru and Sonia. Sensing her power and seeming to understand what she's said is true, they take her in under the guise of a visiting relative. We then get to witness Ganondorf's machinations, see the spirits and him overtake the land, and watch as Rauru and Zelda rally the forces and allies from throughout the kingdom to reclaim lands and fight back.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYpLBmy7xMw

Now, I mentioned that pacing in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment can feel bit slower than both the previous entries based on The Legend of Zelda games and other Musou titles in general. This is due to the nature of the story, the way in which missions work, and the speed at which new characters are unlocked. For the first few missions, we're limited to three playable individuals, with Zelda being the one we know best from these games. While there are some more typical style Musou stages that can move quickly and focus on cutting through hordes, the most memorable experiences tend to involve more extended situations, story segments, and both minor and major boss fights that entail responding to certain enemy actions with the correct type of special attack to retaliate and break through defenses.

Due to this being set in the far past of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom timeline, many characters aren't as immediately recognizable, familiar, and beloved in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment as even folks from the previous Age of Calamity. While Zelda, Rauru, Mineru, and even Calamo are among ones handled well, I didn't feel like I connected to some sages other than Ardi as easily. It takes quite a bit of time for other folks to really stand out. Meanwhile, in Age of Calamity we were aware of pretty much everyone as a result of Breath of the Wild, so there wasn't as much heavy lifting needed in the campaign to establish identities.

When we're not actively viewing a story scene or going through a mission that sends us into a part of Hyrule, we're viewing both the overworld map and depths on Zelda's Sheikah Slate. From there, we select what missions we'll take. Some are simple and involve supplying X number of items to use a Zonai Dispenser to get a new type of device to use in levels or unlock a new type of ability or upgrade the possible attacks for playable characters. Many are short missions that can reward us with things like materials, and those go so swiftly that I wished they had more meat to them. The more substantial assignments involve major story segments, extended tasks that involve visiting different places on larger maps and assigning our playable allies to certain spots to deal with situations at once, and perhaps also gaining access to an area. I will note that the assigning element didn't seem as competent as in past titles sometimes. They would get where they were supposed to go for sure. But if I'd switch to check in and see how someone else was doing there were a few instances in which that ally didn't seem to start really focusing and dealing damage until I took direct control.

Many Musou games feel like we're going through the thrill of exploring expansive areas and taking out hundreds, maybe even thousands, of enemies at once, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is no different. Yes, there are some smaller excursions, but there are larger-scale assignments with enemy takedown counts that do get into the 500-1,000 range. I will say in general that some of the maps don't feel as sprawling as in older Omega Force games. It's absolutely fine and there are times when the scope can feel epic, but I do think some Warriors Orochi titles or Dynasty Warriors games occasionally felt a bit grander.

As I mentioned earlier, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment also takes a bit of time when it comes to opening up additional playable The Legend of Zelda characters to use in this Musou and getting into those bigger excursions. Again, given the nature of the narrative, it is understandable that we don't have a ton of initial options and that it takes time to ramp up. However, for a time we are limited to three, then six, for major and minor missions and the story will dictate which ones are even available. There's nothing wrong with Musou games that don't immediately toss 20+ characters at us, but I think I preferred the unlocking pace of previous Hyrule Warriors games more.

I will say that I do appreciate the movesets available to characters and the way in which we can use our special attacks to counter certain major opponents' assaults, but there are times that can get frustrating too. As we go through Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, our characters will gain access to special attacks that can do things like attack straight ahead, attack above, or are designed to deal with armor. When an opponent attacks, a red hue surrounds them and visual cues will hint at what type of counter might be needed. If an additional playable character is on-hand in your party, there might even be a prompt to switch to them with a button press to have them perform the necessary response immediately. It's well handled, and it lends a bit of rock-paper-scissor style strategy. I will say it's annoying if it happens on a map where you have one playable unit, multiple major opponents are preparing those attacks at once, and cooldowns mean you can only counter one assault. It's also troublesome when you get a new character who doesn't know the right response to a type of enemy attack yet or a mission comes up with a new type you haven't learned the counter for yet. When that comes up, battles can take a little longer through no fault of your own since there's probably no way you could have been prepared.

The other combat responses in this The Legend of Zelda Musou are pretty great as well. It feels like every character has some sort of ranged option that you can memorize, which is handy for dealing with hordes in different positions. There's a dodge mechanic that works well. Time it right, and you can unleash a flurry of attacks to retaliate to normal attacks. Each person plays differently, with Mineru especially focusing on Zonai technology for all her moves in a fun way that really suits her personality. We can still wear down opponents' armor with standard and special attacks, getting to target a weak point for a flashier skill that deals major damage. Also, there will be moments when our characters can basically team up briefly with either another playable ally or NPC who happens to be around for a briefly stronger and flashier Sync Strike assault. Those always feel incredibly powerful when they happen, and I especially loved the ones involving Mineru.

There are also some pleasant quality of life features. When you're in a longer campaign mission, you'll unlock camps as you proceed through the map. If you submit items there, you can get buffs that affect your performance. In the options menu, you can enable settings that will automatically use items to heal if you get low or refill your Zonai device battery when they run out. The hotkey bar for attack layouts are easy to adjust. It's also quite simple to upgrade weapons. While it is possible to do every major or side mission above and below, I also didn't feel like I needed to engage in too much grinding. I did notice that sometimes the camera seemed to get a little wonky when I'd execute some dodges in certain stages, but I could see that perhaps being addressed in a future patch.

I'm still not quite sure how I feel about the "sky" segments. These are on-rails flights that involve using energy and Zonai tech to tackle airborne enemies above Hyrule. I felt like the rockets that locked on to opponents sort of made most other types of assaults feel inadequate and, boss segments aside there, they didn't feel as impactful as traditional Musou maps.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment feels like a more niche The Legend of Zelda game, but Tears of the Kingdoms fans may appreciate its lore. It's interesting and attempts to capture the concept of land, sky, and underground spaces from Tears of the Kingdom too. It's effective in using campaign missions to open up areas of Hyrule, tell its story, and emphasize the importance of fights against named or major opponents. At the very least, we got to see Omega Force experiment a bit with its formula. But in short, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is an interesting Musou game made for a very specific audience.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment will come to the Switch 2 on November 6, 2025

Player in ARC Raiders

Finding Toaster can be one of the most challenging tasks to complete in ARC Raiders if you don't know where to look, but this guide will help clear your confusion.

The Toaster is a crucial item that's required in specific upgrades. It's also tied with a couple of late-game quests, so it's beneficial to know how to find them.

Best Toaster locations in ARC Raiders

Toasters are typically found in big residential buildings like apartments and offices that have been deserted in Topside. While such locations are found in all locations, the best area is the Spaceport map.

On Spaceport, target the Departure building and the Arrival building. The Departure building has had the highest chances of success for me and my colleagues. Enter the building from the ground floor, take the stairs. The upper floors have plenty of tables, and you can find Toaster on some of them.

Departure and Arrival buildings in ARC Raiders

Do note that you can't find a Toaster as a loot. In simple words, you can't find them in any containers/cabinets/boxes. They are only available as a pick-up item, and their rate of spawn depends on the map rotation.

Another great spot to find a Toaster is the Arrival building. Go to the back of the building, and you'll find a ladder. This will allow you to use the broken roof foundations and approach the upper floors more easily, and also avoid the ARCs on the lower enemies.

How to use the Toaster in ARC Raiders

The Toaster has different uses in the game.

  • Upgrade: Refiner 1 to Refiner 2 (Requires 3 Toaster along with other items)
  • Salvage: 1 Toaster gives you 3 Wires
  • Recycle: 1 Toaster gives you 5 Plastic Parts and 3 Wires

You can also choose to sell a Toaster for 1,000 coins apiece.

Destiny 2 Renegades art

Destiny 2's promised roadmap has been nowhere to be seen for nearly two months now, much to the dismay of fans of the suffering shooter. Principal communications manager Dylan "dmg_04" Gafner apologized for the delay today, taking the blame for a promise that wasn't feasible in the given timeline.

"Cannot apologize enough for the delay here," he said about the roadmap today. "[...]I am happy to take 100% of the blame here in promising comms early that we could not execute on in the projected timeline."

Community calls for a roadmap have permeated discussions around the future of Destiny 2 for the past months. The game has been on a steep decline after the release of the controversial The Edge of Fate expansion on July 15. The mid-cycle update—Sept. 9's Ash & Iron—was meant to be a point of relief and change, though the lackluster launch didn't have the intended effect on player counts or sentiment. Knowing what lies ahead could be one way to placate disappointed players.

Gafner mentioned a roadmap was coming "soon" on the day of Ash & Iron's release, but two months later, the promised map hasn't come to fruition yet. "Please continue to yell at me directly, and I say this without any sarcasm," he wrote today, directing feedback to himself and saying the developers are "focused on our immediate and long term future."

Gafner is undoubtedly in an unenviable position leading comms for the game. Unsurprisingly, however, communication managers usually deal with communicating instead of cranking out code, making balancing passes, or designing the game's high-level principles and systems, so they can't publish a roadmap that isn't ready for public eyes.

That said, the fact that it's taking so long to reveal what's in stock for the game may be cause for concern, and Bungie already has enough of those. Player trust hasn't recovered since Edge of Fate, and the game routinely hits its lowest recorded Steam player counts, according to data from Steamcharts.

Fans have long been calling for any display of what the future of the game looks like after the current expansion. With just four weeks to go until Renegades lands on Dec. 2, not having a roadmap by now doesn't help inspire faith in Destiny 2 at a point when the game needs it the most, and it may foster the community's perception that there isn't a set vision for one.

The Praxic Vestment, an Exotic armor piece with rocket propellers on its back.

Today's Destiny 2 teaser for the Renegades expansion showed off a slew of guns and gear debuting next month. The new Exotics stole the show—more specifically, the upcoming Titan chest piece, which seems to work like a jetpack.

The new Praxic Vestment chest piece gives Titan an "advanced tactical air move," according to its official description in the trailer. In practice, this seems to translate to a limited but respectable air lunge that allows players to cover a decent distance, both horizontally and vertically. It also counts as moving for the purposes of lunging melee attacks, such as Shield Bash, Hammer Strike, and Seismic Bash.

https://youtu.be/UB9XVfCrh6k?t=61

The other two Exotics almost feel bland in comparison. The Deimosuffusion Exotic Warlock helmet causes your Rifts to suspend enemies and makes this affliction deal damage over time, while the Fortune's Favor leg armor for Hunters seems to only let your shield fill up into an overshield.

Though it's easy to imagine the Titan as the stalwart, anchored shield that staves off the assault, Destiny's take on the subclass also offers some mobility—with the Twilight Garrison Exotic armor piece in the original game, plus the Thruster ability added to the sequel with Arc 3.0 in 2022.

Of course, the functionality seen in the teaser may not always be exactly how it plays out inside the game, and there's always the chance of an interaction not shown in the description. But so far, Titans seem to be the big winners from the teaser.

Barring any yet unadvertised synergies with overshield for Hunters or an extra-strong layer of protection to stack with other sources of damage reduction, the new leg piece seems almost skippable at first glance, more likely appearing in PvP modes than in PvE. Hunter mains have called for buffs to the class, which may not feel as powerful as its counterparts using certain builds, and this Exotic may not shift the needle in that regard.

Warlocks may also get a couple different options for Suspend with Deimosuffusion, especially with Strand. It'll be hard to replace a well-rolled Solipsism for Prismatic builds, however, given a build with the upcoming helmet will also require a strong investment in the Class stat and giving up on Phoenix Dive.

The video also showed a set of weapons inspired by Star Wars, which is the theme of Renegades when it launches on Dec. 2. Among the ranks, you'll find new hand cannons, sidearms, pulse rifles, and even a heavy sniper rifle—hopefully a Legendary one this time.

ARC Raiders character art no text

ARC Raiders is the most accessible and fun addition to the extraction shooter genre that I've found yet. As a novice in this particular kind of game, I've tried popular titles like Escape From Tarkov, Gray Zone Warfare, Delta Force, Call of Duty DMZ, and even Marathon, and none of them have caught on with me like this one has.

ARC Raiders stands apart from the rest because it was fun and approachable enough to get its hooks in me early on, and the satisfying grind keeps me logging in for more despite my own inventory-draining failures, making it yet another triumph in gaming in 2025.

High arching potential

For those new to the extraction genre, it's all about deploying into a map (varied, beautiful locales known as "Topside" in contrast with humanity's new underground setting), looting gear and valuable items, and extracting safely while dealing with AI enemies and other players at the same time. ARC Raiders sends you out into a post-apocalyptic world with some cobbled-together weapons and objectives, and it's up to you to improve your gear and get better weapons. If you die, you lose whatever you're carrying, and so it's all about the risk vs. reward gamble.

Playable as a solo or in groups of up to three, ARC Raiders relies heavily on your interactions with other players. There's no strictly PvE mode in the game (yet), and it's one of the most-requested features so far. But if you want to join other Raiders, be ready to communicate.

I've found a lot of fun voice-chatting with other players who have common objectives, such as finding specific gear for a quest or teaming up to take down fierce ARC enemies, and I've even made a few friends along the way. This can only be done if you're willing to talk or emote, and if you get lucky enough to find a like-minded gamer and not someone who wants you dead on sight.

The lore and world of ARC Raiders, where a robot apocalypse has forced humanity underground, is awesome but drip-fed. Your character progresses via XP and a skill tree, and the story evolves through quests from vendors and the occasional cutscene, but a lot of the story discovery is up to you if you want to seek it out. And unfortunately, the majority of quests in the game are mundane item-fetching tasks as opposed to being more expositionally interesting.

This can make progression feel like a drag at times, especially considering how lethal ARC enemies are while also having to contend with other players to try and gain XP and quest-specific items. Dying and losing your higher-quality gear is devastating and demoralizing. This may turn some players off, especially those who wish for PvE only, but that's just not how this genre works…yet.

ARC Raiders character
Image via Embark Studios

Thankfully, all of the intrigue and danger is wrapped in a third-person shooter that feels excellent and rewarding to play, regardless of how many times I have lost my entire inventory. ARC Raiders is gorgeous and runs perfectly on just about any PC rig, which may be its biggest strength in 2025. You will die and lose stuff, but it won't be because of game performance.

Looting is also a breeze thanks to a clean and easy-to-read UI, so making snap decisions in the heat of battle while looting an ARC or corpse feels easier than in the other games of the genre I've tried.

A tale of two topsides

ARC Raiders
Image via Embark Studios

For myself (and many others, according to online sentiment), ARC Raiders often feels like two different games. The solo experience is lauded as being cooperative and friendly, as players often look to finish quests and work together.

The situation with trios (and duos) could not feel any more different. If you queue up for a group, be ready for war. It's possible to meet other friendly players when queued as a squad, but for the most part, Raiders will be shooting on sight.

This is because Embark prioritizes team sizes when it comes to matchmaking, although there is no individual support for duos, so if you queue up as two, you will more often than not end up fighting teams of three. Coupled with the danger of ARCs and other teams in the area, it makes for a harrowing and difficult experience.

For newer players to the genre or those looking for an experience close to PvE, I'd say stick with solos and use your microphone or emote wheel to let players know you are not a threat. This doesn't mean they won't gun you down immediately or, worse, gain your trust and take you out at a more advantageous time, but that's the risk you take every time you go Topside. And it's all part of the fun.

The divide in the playerbase between those who wish for PvE and the genre veterans who expect the bloodthirst feels wide at launch, and I can see the case from both sides. ARCs are a pain to contend with, and so progressing quests can be a slow and painful grind if you keep getting targeted by other players. But that is what extraction shooters are, in the end, and everyone is free to play how they choose. Just be prepared to face the consequences.

Further catering to more casual players, however, the vaunted "server wipe" in the extraction genre, where player inventories get wiped, is replaced by a Prestige-like system where players can opt in to reset their character for special rewards. But since it's not forced, ARC Raiders further lends itself to accessibility and a potentially wider berth of players.

Screenshot via Embark

ARC Raiders' launch offering is just the beginning. With two months of a roadmap already available, this game will stick around with content updates for quite some time, offering new maps, weapons, and experiences to bring players back in the fold even if they venture off into other titles. But as for a base game, it's off to a very hot and promising start.

Black Ops 7 key art work

If you can't wait to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at its official release time on Nov. 14, then just take a trip to New Zealand.

The Unexpected Initiatives quest is one of the trickier ones to complete in ARC Raiders, as you're required to travel to different maps.

It's all about finding a few essential resources you need to find for Tian Wen. This guide will provide you with all the details required to complete all parts of this large quest in ARC Raiders.

ARC Raiders Unexpected Initiatives quest

The Unexpected Initiatives quest can be broken down into three major parts, spread across three separate maps.

  • Water Pump and Fertilizer from Buried City
  • Water Filter from Dam Battlegrounds
  • Lemons from Spaceport/Dam Battlegrounds

Water Pump and Fertilizer locations

The Water Pump and Fertilizer are located on top of buildings in the Buried City. To get Fertilizer, you'll have to go to the roof of the Grandioso Apartments. You'll find a couple of pots, and collect the Fertilizer. To get the Water Pump, we will have to be at the marked location in Piazza Roma.

Marked map for the Unexpected Initiatives Quest in ARC Raiders.
Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid

Reach the rooftop of the house, and you'll find plenty of planters. The Water Pump is located right in the middle. Interact with it to add the item to your inventory. This solves a part of the quest, but there's more to be done.

Screenshot by Embark

Water Filters

Water Filters could be the hardest of the three items to find if you're unlucky. You'll want to look into areas tagged under the Industrial category on the Dam Battlegrounds map and go through all the containers. If you're lucky, you'll obtain the Water Filter.

You can also find Water Pumps by the same method. I was pretty lucky since my friends had a harder time trying to find the Filters.

Lemons

Remix by Destructoid via Embark

It's possible to find Lemons from Dam Battlegrounds as they can spawn in the Swamp Outpost region. However, it's better to try your luck at Spaceport. The ideal location will be Olive Garden in the southern part of the map. This place is also perfect to find Olives if you're looking to upgrade Scrappy.

ARC Raiders hiding from giant ARC tank

ARC Raiders' most valuable loot is blueprints, which are shockingly rare as random drops, but you can get quite a few from quest progression as well.

The Burletta blueprint will allow you to craft the pistol whenever you have the supplies and the need for it, so this quest is definitely worth doing. Here's where to find Tian Wen's weapon cache in Buried City for the Industrial Espionage quest to get your own blueprint.

Tian Wen's Gas Station weapon cache location in ARC Raiders

Screenshot by Destructoid

This latest quest from Tian Wen tasks you with heading back into the Buried City to find a weapon cache near the Gas Station POI. This location is to the far north of Buried City, north of Hospital, and can be found right near the smaller Gas Station POI in the Outskirts region. The map below shows exactly where you need to go:

Industrial Espionage weapon cache location ARC Raiders
Screenshot by Destructoid

Spawn into Buried City and mark this location on your map and head there post-haste, but make sure you bring the Burletta that Tian Wen gave you, because it needs to be dropped off. The weapon cache looks like this:

Industrial Espionage weapon cache location ARC Raiders
Screenshot by Destructoid

Interact with the cache to place the Burletta inside. Once done, interact with the cache again to place a bug on it so Tian Wen can keep tabs on their rivals, and the quest will be complete. Return to Speranza, Raider.

Speak to Tian Wen to claim your rewards:

  • Burletta blueprint
  • x3 Mechanical Components
  • x3 Simple Gun Parts

Now you can craft a Burletta whenever you need it, so long as you have the parts, which Tian Wen has kindly gifted to you alongside of it to get you started.

uma racing tier list and guide

In a game where you can activate your ability and zone only once, you'd better make sure you have the best Uma with the strongest ones. There are exceptions though and some Umas have passives and drawbacks that alter the rankings. I'll be rating them all to see who is the best Uma in this Uma Racing tier list and guide.

Uma Racing Umas Tier List

uma racing tier list

The best Uma in Uma Racing depends on both your skill and when you use the ability/zone. You can still win with a lower rarity Uma against a higher rarity one if you're more skilled at Stamina management than your opponents. That said, on the same level of skill, certain higher rarity Umas have the advantage. I highly recommend Gold Ship for beginners but Silence Suzuka is objectively the strongest. Let's see why below.

Skills & Zones: All Skills are some form of a dash so I'll just list the additional effects below for each Uma. As for Zones, you have to charge the Zone bar to activate them with G by overtaking other Umas. You can do your Zone once before the final spurt and then it refreshes for the final spurt so you can potentially use it twice. That's why Silence Suzuka is so powerful.

Running Styles: Each Uma also has one of three running styles so I'll just mention each Uma's style in the rankings below then explain all styles in the section below the rankings.

S-Tier Umas

S-Tier Umas All Abilities Why S-Tier

Silence Suzuka
Legendary
Front Runner
Skill
• After usage, your stamina doesn't drain for 3 seconds

Zone
• Get self stamina regeneration for 0.9 seconds
• Your stamina doesn't drain for 2 seconds
• Your speed increases for 2 seconds

• While Rice & Oguri have slightly better actives while behind someone, Silence has the best ability in the game which is strong wherever you are
• Not only that but you ignore stamina drain on both your skill and zone which rounds up to 5 seconds of no stamina drain along with the zone buffs
• Silence also has better Speed and acceleration due to Front Runner so she's an overall powerhouse even with the recent nerf to her skill (Ignore stamina drain 4.4s -> 3s)
• That said note that Front Runner makes her use more Stamina so you'll have to be more careful with stamina management

A-Tier Umas

A-Tier Umas All Abilities Why A-Tier

Oguri Cap
Legendary
Pace Chaser
Skill (Someone must be ahead of you)
• Gain self stamina regeneration for 0.7 seconds
• Ignore stamina drain for 4.4 seconds

Skill Variant (You must be directly behind someone)
• Ignore stamina drain for 4 seconds
• Gives you self stamina regeneration for 0.8 seconds
• Drains the stamina of the player in front of you for 2.5 seconds and makes it harder for them to sprint for 0.3 seconds

Zone (You must be near someone - Range 43 studs)
• Gain self stamina regeneration for 2.8 seconds
• Players near you get stamina drain and it's harder for them to sprint for a short while

• Oguri Cap's skill is better than Silence since you're ignoring stamina drain for longer and debuffing your opponent
• This is the best Skill in the game
• That said Silence is still better since she has a stronger Zone
• Oguri's Zone is a bit situational since you have to have players around you to debuff them and Silence can use her Zone whenever

Rice Shower
Legendary
Pace Chaser
Skill
• After usage, your stamina doesn't drain for 3.5 seconds

Skill Variant (If you use it while behind someone)
• Your stamina won't drain for 3.5 seconds in addition to two more effects
• Gives you self stamina regeneration for 0.5 seconds
• It's harder to sprint for the target in front of you

Zone
• Gives you self stamina regeneration for 2.5 seconds
• Gives stamina drain to players near 35 studs of you for 0.3 seconds

Drawback
• There's a sprint delay after you use your skill

• Rice Shower can end up getting more value from her skill than Silence if you use it behind the lead runners
• This is both because you get a longer stamina ignore buff and you also slow their sprinting
• Don't use it while in the front to gain maximum value
• That said Rice is still slightly weaker than Silence since Silence gets a better zone
• Your zone is situational and requires multiple opponents to be near you

Gold Ship
Rare
Late Surger
Skill
• Ignore stamina drain for 2.5 seconds

Ultra Skill (3% chance to trigger on Skill use)
• Ignore stamina drain for 9 seconds
• Get self stamina regeneration for 0.5 seconds

Zone
• Get self stamina regeneration for 1.6 seconds
• Trigger a quick time event that gives you additional speed if you win

Drawback
There's a 3% chance that you'll stumble mid-skill briefly stunning you

• The best beginner Uma in the game since she's powerful and easy to get
• She's the only non-legendary to ignore stamina drain on Skill and there's a 3% chance for you to pump it up to 9 seconds
• Your zone is also pretty decent giving you extra speed on QTE win and you have less stamina consumption due to Late Surger
• Even though there's a low chance that you'll get stunned during your skill this is a 1-in-33 matches chance
• Overall, a really great Uma

B-Tier Umas

B-Tier Umas All Abilities Why B-Tier

Daiwa Scarlet
Rare
Pace Chaser
Skill (2 Uses)
• Daiwa Scarlet can activate a powerful dash twice per race, each use unleashing a burst of forward speed

Zone
• Gives you self stamina regeneration for 2.5 seconds
• You ignore stamina drain for 0.6 seconds if there is a player around you within 35 studs

• Even though Tamamo has a slightly better skill than Daiwa, Daiwa is still superior due to a better zone
• And Daiwa's double dash skill, though not as strong as stamina drain ignore, can be pretty useful to gain a lead in corners or if your enemy runs out of stamina
• Don't spam the dashes but instead look for opportunities to overtake opponents at corners

C-Tier Umas

C-Tier Umas All Abilities Why C-Tier

Tamamo Cross
Legendary
Pace Chaser
Skill
• Get self stamina regeneration for 0.7 seconds
• Get no stamina drain for 1.95 seconds
• Gives stamina drain to nearby players within 30 studs for 0.3 seconds

Zone
• Get self stamina regeneration for 0.2 seconds

• Overall for a Legendary Tamamo is weaker than the others but she still has the stamina drain ignore for almost 2 seconds
• The reason she's ranked so low though is because her Zone is pretty much useless
• Even though her skill is better than Daiwa having a weaker Zone which can potentially be activated twice before and after the final spurt really nerfs Tamamo

Haru Urara
Common
Late Surger
Skill
• Get self stamina regen for 0.5 seconds

Zone
• Get self stamina regen for 2.5 seconds

Uma Racing Tips & Tricks

Here are some tips and advice for winning Uma Racing matches as a beginner:

  • Master the QTE: The quick-time event at the beginning is crucial to you getting an early lead or the upper positions. It's why everybody is running so fast from the start. If you do well later with Stamina management, doing well on the starting QTE will carry over to put you in a better place to win.
  • Managing Stamina: Keep your acceleration bar directly on the white line since this is your efficiency zone. It will keep your speed on a consistent level without massive Stamina losses. If you go full throttle right off the bat it will drain your Stamina fast and you'll have a more difficult time recovering it. Learn to balance your Stamina and pace for better results.
  • Stamina Recovery: You don't need to slow down to recover Stamina, you just have to pick the right moment. The best moments are straight paths, open stretches and safe distances from other runners.
  • Corner Recovery: Master the Spacebar corner mini-game which directly boosts your regeneration on corners. This is just as important as the starter QTEs.
  • Go All Out on The Final Turn: Everyone is usually saving their skills for the final stretch where you should go all out if you managed your Stamina well. This is the best time to use your active skill to guarantee first place. Watch out for Rice Shower slows and Daiwa Scarlet blinds (described above).
  • Slipstream and Spurt: Positioning is extremely important since you can Slipstream behind players in front of you to save stamina so you can follow a leading player for a while to conserve Stamina. Don't do this for too long and try to overtake them. Also, use your Spurts. It can be used with Sprinting at Full Speed to gain even more momentum. Spurt drains Stamina on use, but could be game-changing once you master the timing and stamina management.

ARC Raiders character art no text

ARC Raiders' quests are often filled with locations you must visit, but with a minor description given, they can be tough to find.

One of the early mid-game quests in ARC Raiders requires you to find a specific area in the Buried City map, and I'll provide all the info you need on how to get in and out quickly with the quest steps completed.

Where to find the secluded roof terrace on Buried City in ARC Raiders

In Eyes on the Prize, you need to "find the secluded roof terrace south-west of the Southern Station" and to "look for blue tarps" to find it. But you also need to have three Wires in your inventory, so a Free Loadout won't be applicable here.

By this point in the game, you should have Wires galore just from looting random items, but they can be found in Electrical and Technological areas marked on every map in the game. Bring at least three with you and deploy into Buried City.

The map below marks where this area can be found on the Buried City map. It's on a rooftop southwest of the Plaza Rosa POI:

When you spawn in, mark this area on your map and head straight there with your Wires in hand. Since it's on the rooftops, make your way up there from one of many different options, but I found the buildings to the East the easiest.

Cross the rooftops, making sure to dodge any ARCs flying above, and scope out the blue tarp from afar. Once you see it, simply walk up to the generator to use your wires and repair the issue, finishing the quest quite easily.

Return to Speranza and then claim the quest rewards from Tian Wen, including:

  • x1 Extended Shotgun Mag II
  • x1 Extended Medium Mag II

Warhammer Survivors gameplay

Vampire Survivors, the game that started off the action roguelike bullet hell craze, is evolving with a new title that's "part of the official" lineage of the genre. And it's a pretty big collab, too.

Warhammer Survivors can be thought of, for all intents and purposes, as a licensed sequel or expansion to Vampire Survivors. It's a standalone title and an official collab between Auroch Digital (Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun) and poncle, the studio behind the OG Survivors game.

When you see it in action, yeah, it's Vampire Survivors with a Warhammer twist, but that's pretty sweet on its own. Vampire Survivors spawned a ton of clones and an entire genre with its addictive bullet hell success, and so to see something official from that game's devs with a brand collab as big as Warhammer feels like a big deal.

"Choosing from the Warhammer: 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universes, players will lead a roster of iconic characters and endure against the swarms of relentless enemies," the press release said. "Weapons and power-ups can be combined into devastating new forms to create screen-clearing storms of bullets, blades, and magic. Experiment in every run with new strategies, unlocking new characters, upgrades, weapon combinations, as well as troves of secrets and collectables waiting to be discovered."

Playable characters include Boltgun hero Malum Caedo, along with the Cadian Shock Trooper, Trooper Kozlowski, and Brother Luca, while Age of Sigmar's Neave Blacktalon is joined by Gotrek Gurnisson, Sharynn Azurwrath, and Stormcast Eternal Vanquisher.

And of course, as one would expect from Warhammer, weapons include the Boltgun, Astartes Chainsward, Whirlwind Axes, and franchise easter eggs like "the humble pot of Citadel Nuln Oil paint." I'm not a Warhammer guy myself, so I have no idea what that is, but that sounds like it could be cool for fans of the IP.

Warhammer Survivors is due to launch on Steam in 2026.

Player in ARC Raiders

Echoes of Victory Ridge is an exciting quest to complete in ARC Raiders that you receive from Celeste, and it can be a headscratcher if you don't know what to do or where to go.

The Echoes of Victory Ridge is an objective to find a specific item from the wild, and knowing the location is handy. This guide will give you everything you need to do to finish the task.

ARC Raiders Echoes of Victory Ridge quest walkthrough

The Echoes of Victory Ridge can be broken down into three different tasks.

  • Reach Victory Ridge.
  • Retrieve the battle plans from the hideout under the broken highway.
  • Deliver Major Aiva's Patch to Celeste.

Let's begin with reaching Victory Ridge. This area is north on the map, and the terrain can be rough. I have marked the location of the hideout in the screenshot below.

If you're at that location, you'll find a broken highway. Go to the right, where the bridge has broken down. You'll find a couple of destroyed vehicles, and the battle plans item is under the slanted debris. Stand close to it, and the quest will automatically update.

Next task is to hand over Major Aiva's Patch to Celeste (that you picked up). I am unsure if this is a bug, but I died during the raid, and the item was no longer there. It's better to add the item to your Safe Pocket just to be sure that it's not lost if you die before extracting to Speranza.

Speak with Celeste once you're back from Topside, and the quest will be complete.

All Echoes of Victory Ridge rewards in ARC Raiders

Here's the complete list of rewards you'll obtain from the Echoes of Victory Ridge.

  • 6x Crude Explosives
  • 2x Processor
  • 1x Music Box

If you're looking to get more rewards, there are plenty of other great objectives to complete, like Medical Merchandise and With a Trace.

A combat scene in Elden Ring Nightrein

Roguelikes are everywhere on Steam in 2025. The genre dominated the full spectrum of video game development, from massive AAA games like Elden Ring Nightrein to one-dev viral hits like Megabonk. It truly feels like roguelikes swarmed Steam this year, and now we have data to back up this feeling.

The "Roguelike" tag on Steam will soon have its highest game release count in 2025, according to SteamDB. This year, 1,562 newly released games were tagged Roguelike, just 39 games shy of the 1,601 published in 2024. But 52 titles with that tag will come out before Nov. 11, so the release records will be broken in just a few days to make 2025 the year with the most new roguelikes on Steam.

Another big roguelike record was broken this year. October 2025 was the month with the most releases in the genre, with 191 Steam games, 18 more than the previous record from Nov. 2024, with big titles like Ball x Pit and Slots & Daggers leading the pack.

But other data about roguelikes isn't as exciting. There are already more games in the genre with no reviews this year (108) than in 2025 (87), which could mean more titles with not enough players to get reviews.

This could mean we're getting close to genre fatigue, where there are just so many roguelikes that players get tired and ignore them. That's not what's happening, though. Over 50 roguelikes had a peak of more than 1,000 concurrent players in the last 24 hours, which is higher than the equally popular Souls-like tag (33 games).

The endless replayability of roguelikes, coupled with their unpredictable and short gameplay loop, seems to be a formula that gamers are not yet tired of, and that developers are willing to invest more in. As a big roguelike fan, I bet this trend will continue in 2026, and hopefully, we'll see bigger franchises and IPs taking the leap that Elden Ring took and give the genre a shot.
