See Samus 'Survive' in New Metroid Prime 4 Trailer

Nintendo shared a new "Survive" trailer for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and it specifically looks at gameplay footage from the Switch 2 edition of the game. It spends about a minute looking at different situations in the game, giving us a chance to see some peeks at event scenes and gameplay segments. Samus' new motorcycle is also shown off.

The video begins with Samus landing on the planet Viewros. We then see her approach a number of notable locations there, entering to face challenges within them. Prime examples of gameplay footage start to come up at the 20 second mark. From there, we actually step inside the suit and see things from her perspective. (The Metroid Prime series always offers a first-person view.) We see her open doors and create platforms to reach a new area in an outdoor location. This also provides chances to see her face the natural inhabitants of the planet and other opponents, with some of the named examples being a Lamorn Mechanoid Psy-bot Soldier and a boss named Aberax. It closes out with examples of her riding her new motorcycle-like vehicle.

You can see the Metroid Prime 4 "Survive" trailer below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fN5zFkeA4A

This comes just after a new art book for this series appeared. Nintendo and Piggyback released Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective. That focused on the first three games and the remaster of the original one.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will come to the Switch and Switch 2 on December 4, 2025.

Next Desktop Mate DLC Features Needy Streamer Overload Characters OMGkawaiiangel

Infiniteloop announced the next crossover DLC characters for the Desktop Mate app that adds a companion to your desktop, and they will be OMGkawaiiAngel and Ame-chan from Needy Streamer Overload. Both will debut on November 11, 2025. Prices aren't noted yet, but previous Hatsune Miku and NieR: Automataones cost $14.99 each. There will also be an option to get both in a bundle, with the option to swap between the two characters with a special transformation if someone owns both.

In Needy Streamer Overload, Ame-chan is the main character and OMGkawaiiAngel is her streamer identity that we help manage, and the two are treated as separate characters for the Desktop Mate DLC. Through the course of the game, our scheduling can affect the endings for the character. The Ame-chan one will apparently be more subdued and feature her playing around on her phone. The OMGkawaiiAngel option will essentially be performing on your desktop, including doing the Para Para dance. A magical girl/Sailor Moon transformation sequence will play if you own both, allowing you to see Ame-chan transform into her alter ego.

Here are the official screenshots showing both of these desktop mascots. Infiniteloop didn't share any of the transformation sequence, but we can see what it looks like when character pose on top of program windows.

The last add-on to appear for Desktop Mate was 2B from NieR: Automata. That launched in October 2025. Prior to that, Vocaloids like Hatsune Miku, Kasane Teto, and Megurine Luka appeared.

Desktop Mate is on PCs and its Needy Streamer Overload OMGkawaiiAngel and Ame-chan DLC both debut on November 11, 2025.

New Chainsaw Man Movie Clip Shows Reze Singing Her Song

Now that the Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc film is out worldwide, Mappa released a trailer showing Reze singing her song "Jane Slept in the Church" that also includes some spoilers. This is a track with lyrics that were written by the series' creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, and Reze voice actress Reina Ueda performed it. It also featured a number of other scenes from the movie.

Editor's Note: The "Jane Slept in the Church" song trailer features spoilers from Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc.

Reze sings the song "Jane Slept in the Church" in Russian at a point in Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc, hinting at her origins and expressing her feelings during certain situations. In the trailer, we also see Aki riding in a car with the Angel Devil during the current situation and Makima at a desk. The full Tatsuki Fujimoto song from the film is played in that video.

Here's that full video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gGX5ajpPr8

This follows a number of other trailers and announcements that revealed some of the spoilers from Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc. One clearly featured Bomb Girl in a number of moments, a character obscured prior to the film's release, and Beam the Shark Fiend came up more often. You can see that one video below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFR-B3DBFRA

Good Smile Company also fully revealed the extra parts for the Reze Nendoroid on social media. Previously, it kept those secret.

Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc is in theaters now, the anime is streaming on Crunchyroll, and Viz Media handles the manga outside Japan.

G'raha Tia in Final Fantasy XIV

People Magazine has just chosen Jonathan Bailey as the sexiest man alive in the year 2025. Them not going for the most boring and outdated pick imaginable is surprising enough already, but this choice in particular is great news for a few very different groups of people.

https://twitter.com/people/status/1985572956895166921

Bailey shot to stardom after playing Fiyero in the Wicked movie adaptation, then solidified that with a major role in the latest Jurassic World: Rebirth. Those are likely the main reasons for his award. Still, the truly important thing here is that he also played G'raha Tia, the Crystal Exarch, a Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn mage who got so popular that he got bigger roles in Shadowbringers and Dawntrail. Bailey also did voice work for games such as Anthem and Forza Horizon 2 before exploding in the live-action scene, but I'm guessing those probably didn't factor much into the result.

So, remember when gaming, anime, and especially the unholy cross between their two aesthetics got shunned by society at large as "unsexy"? Well, that's over. Or maybe the people at People magazine weren't thorough enough to realize Jonathan Bailey also played one of the most thirsted-over characters in Final Fantasy history, who also happens to be a cat boy. Either way, that door can no longer be closed now.

On a more serious note, this is actually a great pick for two main reasons. The first being that we're looking at the first openly gay man to win the prize. The second, as one wise Twitter user remarks, is how this is one of the few dudes to win the award while they're still sexy.

https://twitter.com/kendallhosseini/status/1985547734892282286

People has been dealing with this sort of criticism for a long time, and it's not about how older men cannot be sexy, but rather about how the magazine fails to react to trends and often ends up giving the award to guys no one under 50 cares much for anymore.

And sure, this is a silly contest. You can easily argue that sexiness is in the eye of the beholder. You can even more easily argue that the eyes of the people who'd picked Blake Shelton, or that guy who plays Jim in the office and shills for the CIA, and even late-stage Johnny Depp aren't beholding much. Still, I'm willing to turn a blind eye to all that for once. Let's celebrate Jonathan Bailey's Battle Royale victory against all other sexy men in this historic day for gamers, the LGBTQ community, and all lovers of cat-related stuff out there.

The Steam Deck with the Steam logo behind it.

I love my Steam Deck, but sometimes I go days or weeks without turning it on for one reason or another. And this means finding a ton of downloads waiting for me every time.

Thankfully, this new feature on Steam Deck's latest firmware could mitigate that by allowing you to download any existing updates (or full game installations) with the display off before it powers down into sleep mode. And the feature is available to use now, Valve said.

Steam Deck display-off downloads
Image via Valve

"Display-off downloads are accessible in two ways," Valve explained in the announcement. "While Steam Deck is downloading content, pressing the power button now brings up a new dialog, asking whether you'd like to continue downloading with the screen off. Select Continue, and Steam Deck will go into the new low-power download mode. In addition, Steam Deck will automatically go into this mode after an idle timeout."

Valve says the feature is enabled by default when Steam Deck is plugged in, but it can be enabled for battery power in the system's settings under the Power menu. I'll definitely be turning this feature on so try and avoid any waiting for downloads.

This doesn't entirely fix the issue of having to download updates, but it's a nice feature nonetheless. While in low power download mode, pressing a button or even moving the Steam Deck will show something like the image above. And if you're on battery power, the Deck will automatically sleep once the level falls below 20 percent, as another nice quality of life tweak.

Since launching in 2022, the Steam Deck has since been surpassed a couple times over when it comes to hardware and other features by some other handheld PCs, and I'm waiting for Valve's next iteration before upgrading to anything else. So for now, these minor updates for the Deck will have to do.

But Valve, I will be waiting for the Steam Deck 2, where hopefully features like this will be ready out of the box.

Player looking over a bridge in ARC Raiders

Celeste's Journal is one of the many search and find quests in ARC Raiders, and this job gets done easily if you know where to look.

The quest takes place at Dam Battlegrounds, but it's spread across two different locations. This guide will help you complete all the tasks associated with this quest in ARC Raiders.

ARC Raiders Celeste's Journal quest walkthrough

The Celeste's Journal quest requires you to retrieve two journals. Both journals can be found in Dam Battlegrounds.

Celeste's Journal location (South Swamp)

The first journal is located at the South Swamp Outpost. I have marked the location in the screenshot below for your convenience. Once you reach the spot, you'll find a collapsed structure. I recommend visiting the place during the daytime, as the location is lit pretty poorly. Head inside the structure, and you'll find a bed.

The journal is at the foot of the bed, almost about to fall. Stand close to the spot, and the quest item will then update automatically. Add it to your inventory, and make sure to place it in your Safe Pocket.

Celeste's Journal location (Northern Outpost)

The second journal is located in the Northern Outpost. I have marked the spot to make it easy for you to find the correct place (in the screenshot above). Once you reach the location, head inside, and you'll find the journal on a floor mattress.

Do the same by adding the journal to your Safe Pocket, and speak with Celeste in Speranza to complete the quest. While I completed the entire quest on one raid, you can break it down into two. That way, you can keep both journals in your Safe Pocket and always retrieve them, irrespective of whether you manage to extract successfully or not.

All Celeste's Journal quest rewards in ARC Raiders

Here's the complete list of rewards that you get for completing this task.

  • 1 Magnetic Accelerator
  • 3 Heavy Gun Parts
  • 1 Exodus Modules

If you're looking to complete more quests, we have a full quest index for you to keep track of your in-game progress. Those interested in completing Tian Wen's quests can focus on the Unexpected Initiatives mission to get some fantastic rewards.

ARC Raiders Key Art

The latest and greatest shooter game has arrived, and Raiders everywhere are heading topside for loot while dealing with massive robotic threats and other humans.

Welcome to ARC Raiders, where your experience is only as good as the loot you find, the teammates you befriend, or the enemies you make in a post-apocalyptic world taken over by terrifying robotic enemies called ARC.

The new game from Embark Studios (makers of The Finals) is off to a big start despite releasing around several other big-name shooter games. But just how many players are logging on for expeditions to find loot and fight bots?

Here's everything we know so far about how many players are playing ARC Raiders.

ARC Raiders player count

Image via Embark Studios

In the hours following ARC Raiders' launch on Oct. 30, 2025, over 200,000 players were online on Steam. The number ballooned to its current all-time peak of 354,836 players on Nov. 2. This does not include players on PS5 or Xbox, so the overall number is likely way larger.

You can see the active player count on any Steam game by checking out the game's Community Hub page. A website known as SteamDB also tracks concurrent players and shows a history of it, so you can stay in tuned with how many players are online at any given time on Steam. But as far as other platforms go, that information is not readily available.

For official full player count numbers, Embark Studios will likely have to reveal or make an announcement since concurrent players are not public knowledge. But the game's success on day one bodes well for more players to join in over the coming weeks and months as the game expands with new content and story beats.

Congrats to Embark on a successful launch, and be prepared to see that number climb steadily very soon.

This article will be updated with more up-to-date information when it becomes available.

Player in ARC Raiders

Finding Toasters can be one of the most challenging tasks to complete in ARC Raiders if you don't know where to look, but this guide will help clear your confusion.

The Toaster is a crucial item that's required in specific upgrades. It's also tied with a couple of late-game quests, so it's beneficial to know how to find them.

Best Toaster locations in ARC Raiders

Toasters are typically found in big residential buildings like apartments and offices that have been deserted in Topside. While such locations are found in all locations, the best area is the Spaceport map.

On Spaceport, target the Departure building and the Arrival building, marked on the map below with the blue outline. The Departure building has had the highest chances of success for me and my colleagues. Enter the building from the ground floor, take the stairs. The upper floors have plenty of tables, and you can find Toasters on some of them.

Departure and Arrival buildings in ARC Raiders
Screenshot and Remix by Destructoid

Do note that you can't find a Toaster as loot. In simple words, you can't find them in any containers/cabinets/boxes. They are only available as a pick-up item, and their rate of spawn depends on the map rotation.

Toaster in ARC Raiders
Screenshot via Embark

Another great spot to find a Toaster is the Arrival building. Go to the back of the building, and you'll find a ladder. This will allow you to use the broken roof foundations and approach the upper floors more easily, and also avoid the ARCs on the lower enemies.

How to use the Toaster in ARC Raiders

The Toaster has different uses in the game.

  • Upgrade: Refiner 1 to Refiner 2 (Requires 3 Toasters along with other items)
  • Salvage: 1 Toaster gives you 3 Wires
  • Recycle: 1 Toaster gives you 5 Plastic Parts and 3 Wires

You can also choose to sell a Toaster for 1,000 coins apiece.
