How do teens in IT classes waste their time these days? When I was a young whippersnapper, when my teacher wasn't looking I'd head to sites like Miniclip, Nitrome, wherever I could get my hands on some Flash games, to play all sorts of little oddities, particularly system heavy ones that were fun to mess around with for 10 minutes once in a while. Games like that feel rare now with the death of Flash, but I think Tower Lab, a physics roguelite tower defence deckbuilder where you attempt to blast enemies off a ledge into an infinite void to their demise, feels pretty close.

Sometimes, the world you live in sucks. It is a place filled with despair, and misery, and blood, guts, and death. This is much the case with the world of Mörk Borg, an apocalyptic fantasy TTRPG where you have no sense of hope, only dread, that is now also a video game. This video game, Mörk Borg Heresy Supreme, is more of an action RPG, though its tabletop routes are still to be found, and it is as mean as it is darkly enchanting.

Soon after it launched in 2019, Taiwanese horror game Devotion was pulled from sale following some controversy regarding Chinese president Xi Jinping and Winnie The Pooh (long story). It was made available for purchase again a couple of years later, though it should have been a touch earlier than that as it was promised to be released on GOG late 2020. However, on the same day it was announced to be returning, GOG put out a statement saying they wouldn't be releasing it after all. Now, half a decade on from that, managing director Maciej Gołębiewski reflects on the decision to not put it up for sale, after it stood by selling the also controversial Horses.

Roguelike deckbuilders! They're everywhere! It's a bit of an epidemic, honestly, sorting the wheat from chaff is a tough job. Of course, once in a while a genuinely novel take on the genre rolls around, and PinKeep has done just that, a pinball game where you change the playfield as you progress through runs. And it's from the devs behind the Far series and Herdling!

Players fighting in Highguard

Free-to-play title Highguard is coming soon to PC and consoles, and this guide will help you keep track of the upcoming launch.

There has been plenty of debate and discussions ever since Highguard was revealed at The Game Awards last year. If you're looking jump in right at launch, then you have come to the right place.

Highguard release countdown

Highguard goes live on PC and consoles on Monday, Jan. 26. The release date has been known since the first reveal, and thankfully, there haven't been any delays. The following countdown will expire once the game goes live across all global regions.

[hurrytimer id="1170080"]

The countdown is based on the following timings.

  • 10am PT
  • 12pm CT
  • 1pm ET
  • 6pm UTC
  • 7pm CET

The game will be available at the same time across all platforms. If you're still on old-gen consoles, Highguard won't be available for you to enjoy. It's coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

What to expect from Highguard

Highguard arrives from the makers of Titanfall and Apex Legends, and it's a PvP raid shooter at its core. Players ride, raid, and fight one another to gain control of a mythical continent. While actual information is pretty sporadic at the time of writing, the key idea is pretty simple.

You'll battle rival Warden crews to gain possession of the Shieldbreaker. Once done, you can break into and destroy the enemy base to gain victory. Of course, things won't be easy when your opponents aim to do the same with your base. The fun begins on Monday, and it will be interesting to see if Highguard will manage to make a significant impact in an already-saturated genre.

Throwing Industrial Explosive in Arknights: Endfield

The Originium Science Area is a Valley IV region in Arknights Endfield that plays an important role in the grand scheme of things.

While completing the main story missions will eventually lead you to Originium Science Area, gaining access isslightly tricky. However, this guide will simplify the entire process so that you can start making use of the new locations and what they have to offer.

How to gain access to Originium Science Area in Arknights Endfield

The first step is to reach the Cross the Science Park quest that comes right after The Mission Continues in Chapter I: Process III. If you're yet to reach this point, just keep completing quests along the main storyline.

Once The Mission Continues appears, follow the tracker. You'll be directed towards the route that leads you to the Originium Science Area once you reach the Core AIC Area. Keep following the route as shown by the quest marker, and you'll eventually reach the entrance of the Originium Science Park area. Proceed further to gain access to the location.

At first, most of the areas of the region will be hidden by blight on the map. You'll need to travel the lands to discover all the locations manually.

Why is Originium Science Park Area important in Arknights Endfield

For starters, the Originium Science Park Area is a quest location. If you want to continue your progress and complete more quests, unlocking the area is compulsory. Secondly, there are various resources spread across different parts of the map. The most important of those is Ferrium Ore.

Ferrium Ore is an extremely rare resource that has several different uses. However, the ore is pretty hard to find. Preparing a mining setup is far more difficult unless you know what to do. Thankfully, you'll eventually obtain plenty of Ferrium as long as you're using the correct Blueprints for effective industry designs.

Sledgehammer Games logo.

Activision has almost exclusively focused its efforts on producing Call of Duty. Year in and year out, we get basically nothing else out of its three main studios (Sledgehammer Games, Treyarch, and Infinity Ward), and we haven't for a very, very long time.

But that could be about to change, with Activision giving some attention to ideas and projects removed from its established arcade shooter formula and letting Sledgehammer develop an "action RPG" with lots of lore and worldbuilding.

This is drawn from the LinkedIn profile of Ben Wanat, former creative director at Sledgehammer Games, who worked (naturally) on various Call of Duty projects during his tenure. The studio he was part of had a few games of its own in the franchise, but mostly supported other, bigger teams in making their own mainline entries like Modern Warfare and Black Ops.

However, Wanat highlighted that he was also the creative director of an "unannounced action RPG" between July 2019 and Aug. 2025. From what he outlined, it seems this was supposed to be quite a big game, with Activision creating a potential new franchise out of it.

It seemingly had a "mechanics-rich design," lots of worldbuilding in the form of "cultures, environments, [and] characters," plus a ton of history to back it up with "lore books for [the] world, cultures, [and] languages."

From what we could gather here, Activision wasn't just creating some spinoff or minor project; it was going full speed into producing and planning out a new RPG franchise, the fate of which is as of yet unknown. Wanat left the company in August of last year to found a company of his own, Lurker Entertainment, indicating that this unannounced game could have been canned.

With seemingly six years of development and nothing to show to the public, internal development woes are more than likely, especially since Wanat saw it as apt to publicly state that this project did, in fact, exist at some point.

Sledgehammer Games has spent many years trapped in the cycle of annual Call of Duty games, as have its sister studios, Infinity Ward and Treyarch. All of these teams are chock full of talented individuals who would no doubt be able to create something fresh and new, as they have proven time and again with games like Modern Warfare 2019.

However, whether or not RPG is a territory for them to tread is anyone's guess, though if Activision does indeed end up releasing this, then we'll have more to judge.

Until that happens, more CoD it is.

Lionel Messi TOTY HM in FC 26

The Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi TOTY HM Player Pick SBC is now live in FC 26, and you can obtain one of the modern GOATs for your Ultimate Team squad.

To get the cards, you'll have to complete a mega-expensive SBC. However, you can only pick one item in the end, and whatever you decide is irreversible. Interestingly, both cards have their respective pros and cons.

When should you pick Ronaldo TOTY HM in FC 26

Cristiano Ronaldo has arrived as a striker, and this 90-rated card can be phenomenal up top. He has 90 Pace, 93 Shooting, and 89 Dribbling. He also offers 5* Skill Foot and some interesting playstyles. Both Finesse Shot+ and Rapid+ are pro-meta choices when it comes to forwards.

An image of Ronaldo in EA FC 24

He also offers Incisive Pass, great for the first time through balls. Aerial Fortress makes him ideal for crosses, while Low Driven enables you to shoot powerful grounders. He has everything it takes to shine as a striker. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any alternate positions (unsure if it's a bug). If his only position remains as a striker, you should pick him if you need a goal-scoring machine.

When should you pick Messi TOTY HM in FC 26

As things stand, the Messi TOTY HM item looks better. For starters, he can play in four positions, including striker. He has Technical+ and Finesse Shot+, along with 90 Pace, 90 Shooting, 90 Passing, and 94 Dribbling. The stat combination looks stellar, and he can do well as a CAM or as an RW/RM.

He also offers Tiki Taka and Incisive Pass, which are great choices in the current meta. However, if you like pacy players who can beat defenders with their speed, this Messi card might not be your cup of tea. However, if you want someone to operate in the wings or as a creative attacking midfielder, Messi is the way to go.

Return to Silent Hill logo.

Return to Silent Hill has finally opened in theaters, and boy do people have opinions about it. After it first started getting reviews from critics, I though it'd be one of those cases of "hated by critics, loved by fans," but that just doesn't seem to be true.

Which isn't stopping the film's director from dreaming about making more Silent Hill movies, and more movie adaptations in general. Why? Because, as he says, "plenty of people are thinking I'm doing a pretty good job."

Speaking with Variety, Return to Silent Hill director Christoph Gans spoke about how he would love to do more of Silent Hill in the future, having done two of them in 2006 and 2026, respectively. Two decades spent with one franchise is a lot, and it seems Gans has a genuine passion for it, since, as he says, it is one of those IPs that are so different and intriguing that they can be viewed as something with genuine artistic merit.

"'I'm not looking at Silent Hill only as a great video game. I'm looking at it as a piece of modern art. It has something really edgy and experimental," Gans explained.

Which is why he would love to revisit it again after Return: "If I have the opportunity, we'll come back to Silent Hill once more."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTPHkslPCr0

Gans concluded by saying that "plenty of people are thinking I'm doing a pretty good job," though I cannot imagine who he might be talking about.

He finished the movie for just around $23 million, so it could be the financial department. The production team, maybe? Or the actors for being treated well? Whoever it is, it's certainly not either the audience or the critics, who have been hammering the movie ever since they laid their eyes upon it.

Contrasted to the 2006 release, Return to Silent Hill isn't hitting it off with anyone, it seems, with an average IMDB score of 4.4 (compared to 5.9 with critics alone), whereas the original film has about 6.5. Rotten Tomatoes has it at only 15 percent with critics and around 30 with casual moviegoers, sharply beneath the original's 34 and 63, respectively.

In fact, it has a worse audience score than Silent Hill: Revelation, a universally hated movie except among fans of disasterpieces and so-bad-it's-good stuff.

At any rate, Gans' passion shouldn't be underappreciated. I love it when a director or producer genuinely holds the IP they're working with in high regard. And that shows: Return to Silent Hill's trailers do indicate a strong understanding of the franchise, but it appears that isn't enough to make a movie, nor are aesthetics and experimental concepts the only things that made Silent Hill as good as it is.

Its characters, emotional story, thematic depth, and everything in-between are what matter. Sure, it's innovative in many ways and especially as a horror game, but that's all secondary, which the film apparently doesn't understand.

Pink Bolete, as seen in Arknights Endfield.

Used to ascend your operators for the first time, getting good amounts of Pink Bolete early on is a necessity in Arknights Endfield, even more so if you want to test out every single member of your roster right off the bat.

But contrary to what many expect, getting easy access to the mushrooms is only a matter of knowing where to look. To help you max out your favorites as soon as possible, here are all Pink Bolete locations in Arknights Endfield.

All Pink Bolete locations in Arknights Endfield

You can get Pink Boletes in Arknights Endfield by gathering them from select Rare Growth spots scattered across the game's early areas, with two being found on Originium Science Park, one in Valley Pass, and three within The Hub. The spots on The Hub will house six boletes each, while those found in the other areas can feature up to eight.

Upon being harvested, the boletes at each location will respawn one at a time daily. In other words, upon gathering all, you can still get six a day by revisiting your route. You can check out the exact location of all of the Pink Bolete spawns below.

  • All The Hub Pink Barete locations.
  • All Valley Pass Pìnk Benete locations in Arknights Endfield.
  • All Originium Science Park Pink Baretes.

How to Farm Pink Bolete

Apart from gathering them from the wild, the best way to farm Pink Boletes in Endfield can be done by using the Dijiang's Growth Chamber, unlocked by increasing your Control Nexus level to 2. As shown below, the chamber allows you to grow the boletes from its mycelia, which can be produced at the station at the expense of the source material. To be more specific, each bolete can net you three mycelia.

Pink Bolete, as seen in the Growth Chamber.
Screenshot by Destructoid

Just don't get your hopes up, as it will take almost 18 hours for each sprout to grow. To make the most out of it, add multiple mycelia to the chamber at once. Leveling up the room also allows you to harvest both Red and Ruby Bolete, thus guaranteeing you will have some help with the mid/late-game grind.

Can you buy Pink Boletes in Arknights Endfield?

Thankfully, for all looking to get a few extra materials without waiting, you can buy up to three Pink Boletes by heading to Anton's Garden Shop, located in the Worker Dorms area of The Hub. Once there, each unit will be available for 300 Stock Bills. We still don't know if the deal is a one-time offer, so keep that in mind.
