Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, February 20, 2026 9:03 AM Valve currently have three Steam Deck models on offer: you've got the standard 256GB LCD variant (basically no longer in production), the 512GB Steam Deck OLED, and a beasty 1TB edition of the latter. All of them are lovely handheld PCs, but whether you've got one of these or you invested earlier in a smaller model, you might still be itching for a little more capacity to make that 32-hour flight to New Zealand a lot more bearable. At this point you have two options: a microSD card, or for storage with more clout, one of the best Steam Deck SSDs. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, February 20, 2026 8:01 AM The Stop Killing Games campaign's organisers are currently awaiting a chat with European Union politicians about server shutdowns rendering online-only games impossible to play. Said chat's been set up by a petition which racked up just under 1.3 million verified signatures at its final count, with that being one of the alleys the group have gone down in pursuit of action against publishers being able to abandon games without leaving a way for them to be kept running. Rather than simply adjusting their ties and googling nice places to visit on a trip to Brussels while they wait for their meeting, the group have announced some more action they'll be taking to get their message out in the ling term. Two Stop Killing Games non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are going to be set up to cover Europe and the US. |
Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, February 20, 2026 7:42 AM Ubisoft are laying off around 40 people at Ubisoft Toronto, the studio behind the forthcoming remake of the original Splinter Cell. That's approximately eight percent of the studio headcount. It's all in the service of Ubisoft's drive to cut costs after restructuring their operations around a big dollop of Tencent funding, which has elsewhere seen Ubisoft propose to lay off up to 200 people in Paris, and chop fixed costs by €200 million over the next two years. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, February 20, 2026 5:26 AM It's always a pleasure to write about Frostpunk, but I'm glum that Frostpunk has boarded the Great Videogame Remaking Train. I don't think the original Frostpunk is beyond improvement, but I do find it very complete. Chilly finitude, obsessive symmetry are its narrative ethos and aesthetic. It's a three-act story in a genre that tends to be exhaustingly open-ended. Its dramatic stakes are stark and inescapable – who and what will you sacrifice so that everybody else can survive? In place of the hopelessly indulgent, always-extendable gridiron of SimCity it gives you an Omelasian foxhole, with construction rigorously defined by distance from the coal burner at the heart. The Last City's inner configuration may vary, but it must describe a perfect circle, because it has to dissipate heat evenly against the apocalyptic winter. It can't afford to sprawl. But sprawl Frostpunk has - firstly in the form of DLC expansions, and then in the shape of Frostpunk 2: a looser, fragmented game of expansionism, bickering council members, tangled ideologies, and petrol politics. And now here's Frostpunk: 1886, an Unreal Engine "remake plus plus", as game director Maciej Sułecki puts it, in a sector saturated with boutique revivals, some of them landing a handful of years after the original game - a forcing of embryonic nostalgia, huffing on embers, that suggests an industry running out of fuel, giving itself over to cycles of regeneration. Still, perhaps I'm being too gloomy. I'm definitely being melodramatic. As you'd expect, Sułecki has a more hopeful analysis. |

Whenever a major update arrives in Honkai: Star Rail, it always brings with it tons of new additions and gameplay features, and 4.0 is no exception. However, it seems like this version is building up with its first patch, and that we might see the real major benefits and changes once 4.1 and 4.2 arrive. Keep in mind, 4.0 is still a big deal! Especially when it comes to Sparxie and Cosmicon Collective. But I get the impression we'll see the full weight of Planarcadia's Trailblaze Missions and Elation's power once we get more into it.
With the new Planarcadia Trailblaze Missions in Honkai: Star Rail 4.0, it reminds me more of the early Xianzhou Luofu and Penacony storylines than something like Jarilo-VI and Amphoreus. We're welcome guests to the planet, with Sparkle acting as a host. It's a very bright space that feels modern, with lots of games and activities. Now, there is the setting for something more and growing stakes, since there is the Phantasmoon Games competition. The winner gets to meet Aha and wield the power of an Aeon for a minute. Given Trailblazer, Sunday, Sparxie, and Silver Wolf are all competing, there's a lot of potential for how this all could go.
However, I'm more excited about 4.0 for another reason. That's because Himiko is tied to Planarcadia. We've seen recent versions with members of the Astral Express tied to areas including eventual revelations about the characters. Dan Heng came up during the 1.0 Xianzhou Luofu storyline. March 7th ended up featured in 3.0 at Amphoreus. This feels like Himiko's turn, and I'm excited by the initial teasers and hints we get so far.
One of the best parts of Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 is the new Elation path, though I think most people won't get to really appreciate it until Sparxie's banner arrives on March 3, 2026. The new path might feel a bit like the DOTs in Nihility characters or Remembrance Memosprites since Aha could chime in for additional effects and you want to set things up for Punchlines and Elation DMG. It's most evident with Sparxie, who I got to test out, since her Boom! Sparxicle's Poppin Skill enhances her Basic into Bloom! Winner Takes All for an attack with splash AOE damage and makes her Skill briefly Engagement Farming for a DMG multiplayer and more Punchline points. She can do big numbers even without Yao Guang, especially if Sparkle is on the same time, though she is best when paired with her fellow Elation character.
The thing is, Yao Guang herself isn't as exciting or useful without Sparxie. Her Decalight Unveils All Skill's zone is best for Elation stat boosting, which only applies to Sparxie at the moment. While her Hexagram of Feathered Fortune is a more generic one that helps get Aha acting again and boosting Punchline, due to it helping all-type Res Pen for the party, she's ideally a buffer for a type of team that probably won't be possible until 4.2 or 4.3. I'm a bit surprised she's the first banner for Honkai: Star Rail 4.0, in fact, given the focus Sparxie/Sparkle has in the story and the general usefulness of the other character.
What I especially liked about the 4.0 update for Honkai: Star Rail is the Cosmicon Collective card game, which feels like the equivalent of Genius Invokation in Genshin Impact. It's of course its own beast, with elements like weather influencing matches to offer boosts, and us using Prismatic Dice and collected character cards to fight matches. It's standard TCG fare in many ways, with attack level determining dice selected and used, defense level determining your defense based on rolls, and us knowing how many D6s and D4s would be used and if a Prismatic Die could be used. We roll dice, select which ones to use to determine damage dealt and defenses set. It goes really quickly, and there being the "Cosmicon, Roll On" event around at launch helps make it more inviting.
The fact that Yao Guang won't probably be all that exciting until her rerun aside, it feels like HoYoVerse is building something with Honkai: Star Rail 4.0. Planarcadia's plot is leaving all sorts of threads to follow and hints of things to come, even though the initial quests are more about getting acquainted with the premise. Sparxie feels like a great example of what Elation could be capable of with the right supports. Cosmicon Collective is a lot of fun. It's like we're at the foundation now, and I'm excited for what's next.
Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the 4.0 update is live now.

All around Ondarion, there are secret power shifts you can find and interact with to change your Sims fate in The Sims 4. One such item is the mighty sword in the stone, but getting your hands on it is no easy task.
Acquiring the legendary sword in the stone grants your Sim immense power, allowing you to better shape their future however you see fit. Only Sims who have proven themselves worthy can get it, though, so here's how to pull the sword from the stone in The Sims 4.
Table of contents
Where to find the sword in the stone in The Sims 4
The sword in the stone can be found in the plaza area in the Verdemar neighborhood in Ondarion. You'll find it right by Ye Old Villager bar, so traveling to this lot is the easiest way to find and interact with this item. The courtyard is also right beneath the spot where the Blacksmith is located.
How to get the sword in the stone in The Sims 4
To successfully pull the sword from the stone, your Sim needs to have a high Swordsmanship skill and be in the Noble career with high Favor with the people. Specifically, you'll want to be at least level eight in Swordsmanship and to have Commoner Level Three Favor.
You can hone your Swordsmanship by practicing on dummies, dueling other Sims, and entering competitions. Level eight is pretty high, so it'll take you a while to reach this point. As you work on this skill, you'll also want to steadily build your Favor with the people, which can be done by enacting Noble decrees that benefit them, going on voyages that align with their values, and otherwise looking out for the people rather than other nobles.
If you click on the sword in the stone and select the "Examine Prophecy" option, you'll get a pop-up with a series of clues telling you what needs to be done. Here's what the prophecy tells you.
This prophecy can be a bit tough to decipher on your own since it doesn't outline the specifics. Overall, your Sim essentially needs to be both a very skilled swordsman and a beloved icon of the people so that they may be deemed worthy of wielding this powerful weapon. Without these two requirements met, your Sim will always fail to pull the sword from the stone.
You can attempt to free the sword as many times as you like, but if you try and fail multiple times in a row, it'll affect your Sims reputation. There are no benefits to trying and failing, only possible drawbacks, so it's best to leave this item alone until you know you're ready. When your Sim has the skills needed to pull it, you'll know you're successful if the sword starts glowing when you interact with it.
What does the sword in the stone do in The Sims 4?
The sword in the stone is an item that can be wielded when dueling, practicing, or otherwise engaging with the Swordsmanship skill. Successfully pulling the sword from the stone also grants your Sim a claim to the throne, which means they can become the ruler of the kingdom with the full support of the people if they choose to do so.
How to get Simcalibur in The Sims 4
Simcalibur is the sword you can free from the stone, so the only way to get your hands on this item is by meeting the requirements to free it. While duplicates of most other swords can be ordered or found, this one is singular, which means only one Sim in all of Ondarion can have and wield it.

There are many quest series tied to larger mysteries and secrets you have to slowly unravel over time in Disney Dreamlight Valley. One such series involves Mementos, a collection of items with strong emotional ties.
These items have been slowly added to the game over the years of updates, which means it can be tricky to piece together how many there are, how to get each one, and what they're meant to be used for. Collecting them all is crucial for unlocking a very special character, so here's how to get all Mementos in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Table of contents
All Mementos in Disney Dreamlight Valley
There are six Mementos you can unlock throughout various quests with different characters in DDV:
Five of these items are small quest objects that stay in your personal inventory after completing certain missions. The only one of the Mementos that's a bit different is the New Comfort Bear, which is a furniture item you can place anywhere in the valley.
What are Mementos in Disney Dreamlight Valley?
Mementos are items that stay behind upon completing certain quests due to strong emotions being attached to them. They usually cause a lot of chaos and magic, resulting in some issues you have to work through, like the dangerous storm in the Meatballs quest or the Alice clone in The Fractured Glass mission.
How to unlock all Mementos in Disney Dreamlight Valley
All Mementos you can unlock are tied to different characters and quests that can be tackled around the village. Generally, you have to work through most or all Realm or friendship quests tied to a specific character to unlock each one, but the process is unique for all items. Here's what needs to be done to acquire each item.
How to get The Secret Journal from Jasmine in Disney Dreamlight Valley
You unlock The Secret Journal item from Jasmine upon completing her level 10 friendship quest, which is called Wild, Wild Wishes. This item first appears during her level seven quest, Hold and Cold, but isn't actually given to you until you fully maximize your relationship with her.
How to get Kaleidoscope from Alice in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The Kaleidoscope Memento is given to you after finishing Alice's level 10 friendship quest, A Very Merry Unbirthday. You'll first encounter it during the Mimsy Were the Borogoves mission, which unlocks when you reach level four friendship with her. It's not given to you as an unlocked quest item until you fully finish her last quest, though.
How to get Birthday Party Invitation from Cogsworth and Lumiere in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The Birthday Party Invitation is unlocked during the A Guide to Better Castle-Keeping quest, which takes place in the Beauty and the Beast Realm. You'll encounter this mission while working on unlocking Cogsworth and Lumiere.
How to get Nostalgic Instant Photos from Cinderella in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The Nostalgic Instant Photos drop during Cinderella's A Dream Come True quest. They appear on the floor in Fairy Godmother's house at this point. This quest is Cinderella's level seven friendship mission, so you don't have to get very far with her to unlock it.
How to get New Comfort Bear from Joy and Sadness in Disney Dreamlight Valley
The New Comfort Bear is one of the toughest Mementos to unlock, as you must work through all of the friendship quests given by both Joy and Sadness to receive it. Throughout their missions, you'll steadily obtain pieces of the bear before eventually piecing it together in the last one. The quests you have to get done to unlock this item are as follows.
You unlock The New Comfort Bear Memento in Sadness's level 10 friendship quest, which is Create a Bear. At the end of this mission, it's added to your furniture inventory rather than your personal one, so you can't store it with the rest of the items in this collection.
How to get Well-Loved Dog Collar from Lady and Tramp in Disney Dreamlight Valley
You find the Well-Loved Dog Collar in the Lady and the Tramp Realm while working through the Meatballs quest. This is one of the later Realm missions you'll encounter, so to reach this point, you'll first need to tackle the Canine Courtship quest and The Jailbreak quest.
What to do with Mementos in Disney Dreamlight Valley
All the Mementos you can get throughout various villager missions are part of a larger quest series that leads to unlocking Pluto. To unlock the friendly canine as a Companion, you must have all six Mementos unlocked. The full quest series tied to them isn't available to complete just yet, so we don't know the exact details of what needs to be done with them. As soon as we do, we'll add additional information here.

Styx Blades of Greed has a pretty well-detailed character system that you can customize based on your needs. However, you can change it quite easily once you clear the first chapter of the game. You can either change a single skill or completely reset your build to go for a new one.
Table of contents
How to respec skills in Styx Blades of Greed
The main task is to clear the first chapter in Styx Blades of Greed. This is a pretty easy task, and you can do so by just completing the main quests. Once you finish the first chapter, you'll get the Zeppelin. You'll then have to find the kitchen where Wren is located.
To either reset a single skill or respec your full build, you'll have to interact with Wren's Cauldron. You'll find the kitchen and the cauldron in the Zeppelin. Get inside and go to your right. Head straight and you'll find yourself in the kitchen. From there, you can continue with the respec according to your needs. Mostly, you'll be resetting a skill or two as per the requirements of an upcoming mission.
How to reset Blueprints in Styx Blades of Greed
Your build isn't the only thing that you can reset in the game. You can also reset any Blueprint by accessing Jasper's Workbench in her Workshop. Go to the lower deck and turn left. Go straight, and you'll find the Workshop.
Once you're in the Workshop, you can reset any Blueprint of your liking that you have used to unlock gadgets. This is a useful feature if you want to switch the gadgets. It's highly unlikely that you'll have all the gadgets. Hence, you'll have to switch and rotate the tools to use them efficiently while completing various campaigns.
