Oxenfree was an amazing indie game marrying a coming of age story with a puzzle box story and a healthy dose of cosmic horror. While most of the endings of the original game put a firm cap on protagonist Alex's story, the supernatural events that drive the plot linger. Departing from the college-aged protagonists of […]

Oxenfree 2 isn't looking to break the mold, but instead offer players more choice, and depth to those choices, while maintaining the series' spooky aesthetic and charming writing.

UK police have jailed a trio of car thieves who were using a device that looks a lot like a Nintendo Game Boy to steal vehicles worth £180,000 in total.
Dylan Armer, Christopher Bowes and Thomas Poulson stole five Mitsubishi Outlanders by using the gadget to bypass the cars' security systems, according to the BBC. The device in question is worth £20,000, and, according to West Yorkshire Police, is capable of unlocking and starting a car "in a matter of seconds". Closer inspection suggests the complex internals are clad in a cheap, knock-off Game Boy-style casing, commonly seen on emulation consoles from the far east.
Today sees the launch of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania on Nintendo Switch, and the game's been treated to one heck of a launch trailer.
You can check it out for yourself above; there's monkeys, bananas, monkeys collecting bananas, Sonic and Tails, snippets of gameplay, and some really lovely animation throughout.
It's finally time. Today, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans will learn which gaming star is taking the game's final roster slot, completing one heck of a lineup.
As always, series director Masahiro Sakurai will be doing the honours by hosting a roughly 40-minute presentation. The show will reveal the final character, as well as the fighter's release date and the final Mii Fighter costumes. Be sure to drop a vote in our poll before it airs as well, so we can all guess wrong together.
About three years ago, Studio Aurum pitched Monster Crown on Kickstarter, a monster-battling RPG which wasn't shy about taking inspiration from a certain popular Game Freak franchise. After making over nine times as much money as the initial goal, the title then shifted to Early Access on PC, where it was regularly iterated on and updated in tandem with community feedback. Now it's 1.0 release has finally come to fruition and it's naturally made its way over to the Switch. Monster Crown offers up an enjoyable, though flawed throwback to simpler monster-battling days, but it ultimately proves to be a worthwhile experience.
Monster Crown is set in the wild world of Crown Island where humans and monsters don't so much live together in harmony as they do in begrudging acceptance. For example, here you don't catch any monsters you bring to your team, but instead form a 'pact' that's essentially a contract for the tamer to provide for the monster's needs in exchange for its powers. You play as a young, up and coming Monster Tamer from a humble farm, but quickly get swept up in a plot that puts the fate of Crown Island in your hands as you repeatedly interact with an anti-hero character focused on installing a group of tyrants. It's not an especially inspired story—the monster battling gameplay is clearly the main draw here—but it's just interesting enough that it feels worthwhile in the end.

Capcom has revealed in a press release that the Nintendo Switch timed-exclusive Monster Hunter Rise has now shipped over 7.5 million units. Turns out Castlevania Advance Collection is real, and it's excellent, collecting three of the best Castlevania games of all time as well as a fourth pretty darn good one. Oxenfree didn't need a sequel. The supernatural campfire tale of troubled teens stumbling across a ghostly rift is a gripping, self-contained horror story. But the moment Oxenfree II: Lost Signals was revealed, I realised some of the threads a sequel could explore, and got excited all over again about spelunking through haunted caves and getting to know a fresh cast of unwitting paranormal investigators. While a brief hands-off presentation can't say how much of a sequel Lost Signals is, it does make one thing very clear: Oxenfree II expands on the original in every way.
You play as Riley Poverly, an environmental researcher who returns to her home town of Camena - just a stone's throw away from Edwards Island, the first game's setting - to investigate strange radio transmissions. Within the first hour she encounters a cult called Parentage, who are attempting to reopen the time portals from the first game in order to pull something out - something of great value to them. There's no tiptoeing around the subject, or gentle teasing that something supernatural might be going on; Riley starts right in the thick of a Stranger Things-style interdimensional struggle.
There's more at stake, certainly, but as you traipse through abandoned mining facilities and labyrinthine caves, Riley and her timid companion Jacob will fill the airwaves with endless chatter. Sometimes it's about the mysterious goings-on, sometimes about their friends, sometimes about themselves, and very often about nothing at all.
Want to know how to complete all of the Fortnite punchcard challenges? For those who weren't around when punchcards last appeared in Fortnite, they provide a series of challenges to be tackled in a particular order. Fortnite punchcards fall into two different categories: daily and weekly punchcards, and character punchcards.
Each character punchcard has five challenges for you to complete, with each one appearing straight after the first one is complete. You can only follow up to five questlines at a time, so look at the Fortnite NPCs locations to find out where to pick up another questline after you've finished all five in one batch.
You may wish to plan to complete several of these challenges in one go, so here are all of the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 punchcard challenges in the game. Some quests refer to a new area called the Sideways, which has all sorts of nasty creatures inside. There's a ton to go through right now, and more quests will appear when more NPCs appear in the game - this week sees both Raven and Nitehare join the list.
Want to know where the Fortnite NPCs are? Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 is now live, and it's all change for how quests work, as Fortnite punchcards return. Punchcards are obtained from Fortnite NPCs and each contains a series of quests for you to complete.
Each of the Fortnite NPC punchcards has five quests you need to complete to finish their questline, some of which ask you to go into The Sideways. Luckily, you only need to talk to these NPCs once to begin their questline, though since you only have five punchcard slots, you can only pick up five questlines at once. Once you've completed a questline, you are free to find one of the other NPCs and start their punchcard quests.
NPCs don't just give out quests. They also have items for sale, taking gold bars as payment. Some of these items are vital to complete quests, so it's worth remembering where they are. To help you out, we've put together a guide to all the Fortnite NPCs locations. There's already a hint that Epic will add more NPCs to the map soon, so do check back often to see if there is anyone new to find throughout the season.
With just two days to go until Far Cry 6's release date of October 7 release date, players across the world are using the recently revealed Far Cry 6 system requirements to prepare their gaming PCs for the coming revolution. Unfortunately, DSOG's benchmarks may have highlighted a major problem with the game's PC port. The issue stems from the way the game utilises threads on a processor, which results in the CPU becoming a performance bottleneck while the GPU remains underutilised.
The three benchmarks in DSOG's video show the game running at the Ultra graphics preset with V-Sync turned off, allowing for an uncapped frame rate, with the only difference in settings being resolution. The test system is composed of an Intel i9-9900K, 16GB of RAM, and one of the best graphics cards available: an Nvidia RTX 3080.
In the 4K test, GPU utilisation is predominantly 99% throughout, which is to be expected. However, when the resolution is dropped to 1440p or 1080p, there is a notable decrease in GPU utilisation and one of the CPU's 16 threads, namely 'CPU14', is shown to be working much harder than the 4K test and in comparison to the other threads.
Looking for the moonchase charm and mystmoon chest locations in Genshin Impact? Liyue's Moonchase Festival has begun, and so has the Moonlight Merriment event, which consists of three different missions: Moonchase Tales, Moonlight Seeker, and Trail of Delicacies.
The Moonlight Seeker Event tasks you with finding Mystmoon chests and Moonchase charms scattered throughout a designated collection area. Completing these missions earns you various rewards, including primogems and mora, but most importantly, you can obtain the coveted Luxurious Sea-Lord weapon - a comically large fish claymore.
To access the Moonlight Merriment event, you must have an adventure rank of 28 or above and have completed the missions 'A New Star Approaches' and 'Mondstadt Gastronomy Trip'. To begin the Moonlight Seeker quest itself, you must first complete 'Moonlight Merriment: Part I' and 'The Many Matters of the Moonchase Festival'. Then it's time to set out on your quest for moonchase charm and mystmoon chest locations - and we've put together a Moonlight Seeker map to make the search a little easier.
Oxenfree II: Oxen Free Or Die Hard (known to squares as Oxenfree II: Lost Signals) was announced earlier this year, a sequel to the much-loved spooky coming-of-age adventure Oxenfree. Did you like the naturalistic conversations and dialogue options you got in the first game? The story of self discovery? The spine-tingling creepiness that is inherent to half-tuned radios? Then I have some good news for you about Oxenfree II.
We still don't know when Hollow Knight's long-awaited sequel Silksong is coming out, but the demo for upcoming Metroid-like Haiku The Robot has been scratching that Hollow Knight itch for me like nobody's business this week. Available now as part of the Steam Next Fest, this challenging, side-scrolling action-adventure game sees your little bot pal Haiku explore a vast, apocalyptic scrap heap that's been corrupted by possessed machinery and other nasty robots - all without a single squishy bug in sight. Lovely stuff.
Another weapon skin bundle arrives in tandem with Valorant's Patch 3.07 tomorrow, and for the first time ever it features a kill counter that tracks how many enemies you've eliminated in a match. It's update week for Valorant, and while Patch 3.07 doesn't make an especially long list of changes, there are one or two that should come as a welcome surprise to fans of the game. In particular, Jett's knives now finally reset at the shooting range after a practice bot is killed, which always used to […]
In 2016, Night School Studio struck gold with Oxenfree, as their debut supernatural adventure game was a hit with fans thanks to its quirky characters, unique dialogue mechanics, and enthralling mysteries. Five years later, the studio hopes to pick up right where it left off with Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals. Recently, I attended a preview […]
If you've played online at all since the release of Diablo II: Resurrected, chances are that you've joined many games populated entirely by Sorceresses. This popularity is chiefly attributed to the Teleport skill, which combines with the Sorceress' relative gear independence and Static Field to make the class a great season starter. Thus, this article in our best Diablo II: Resurrected class builds series will feature the Sorceress. The format follows our best Paladin builds article. Below, you will find our top 4 choices for Sorceress builds, a short description for each of the builds, and links to complete build guides for good measure. The Fire Sorceress We're starting today's list off with the classic Fire Sorceress. Nothing beats the feeling of conjuring large Fire Balls out of thin air and u...
I love 3D platformers a little too much. The genre is mostly dead and, hell, when we do get games, the controls aren't always there. I got to get an early look at Demon Turf though, and I am more than happy to say that the controls are phenomenal. I poked around the game's first world and hub and have been getting a pretty good feel for it. It's aiming to come out later this year and, if you're in the market for the next big 3D platformer, I think you may be quite pleased with what these sprites are up to. Demon Turf puts you in control of a demon girl named Beebz. She lives in a world ruled over by a Demon King straight out of every other fantasy anime in existence. Only, Beebz doesn't care much for him. Her goal is to simply bust into his castle and kick his demonic ass. The game opens up with a dream where the king ends up taunting her. Big mistake, pal. She sets out to knock him down a peg or three right after crawling out of bed. Beebz has f...
Rebirth Island is played at a completely different pace to Verdansk '84. The smaller map, and the chance to respawn multiple times, can allow you to rack up a higher amount of kills. Currently, the available Rebirth Island playlist is Resurgence Extreme Quads. This has bumped up the player count to 60, making your matches even more action packed. If you are a fan of Call of Duty: Warzone's Rebirth Island, you may be interested to find out what your stats are on this map. Now, thanks to a third party website, you can do just that. The website is called Rebirth Sweats and it features a range of facts and figures. You can view a leaderboard of the daily sweats, which are the best matches in the last 24 hours. Also, you can check out the longest win streaks on the Season Five leaderboard, and more. How to view your Rebirth Island stats To access your personal statistics you will have to make sure your Warzone stats are set to public. To make them public, you'll ...
Priding itself as a Trackmania-style arcade racer, Track and Burn seeks to carve out a slot in the "create-a-racer" sub-genre. The genre isn't exactly overrepresented these days, though there have been some major new entries as of late, like the recently-released Hot Wheels Unleashed and the return-to-form that is 2020's Trackmania. Making a DIY racer is no easy feat. The building mechanics have to strike a good balance of being both fluid and intuitive, but also not overly complex nor overly simplified. It's a delicate dance, and that's perhaps why it hasn't become a more standardized sub-genre. Yet, the little indie that is Track and Burn is jumping right into the deep end, making its DIY features the backbone of the entire experience. Thankfully, the potential shown off so far bodes well for the game's future. Building bits and bobs Considering that this is still in Early Access, I decided to look at where I want to see the g...

As it often goes, when one question is answered, a dozen more crop up in its place. Maybe you are scratching […]

OXENFREE II: Lost Signals is an exciting and mysterious journey back to the world of OXENFREE and from the preview, we can't wait to experience more of the world and its characters.
Turn tiles, spread across the board and hopefully capture all of the tiles before your opponent does. Hexteria is a game of tactics and constant thinking plus it's rather good. Note: copy provided via our Steam Curator.
A very simple concept, all you do is take it in turns to rotate a hexagonal tile with an arrow on it, the direction the arrow points will spread your colour to other linked tiles. All you have to do is take over all the tiles coloured in by your opponent.
It can be surprisingly difficult because even though each match has the board set, the way it plays out can be different each time, it all depends on the first couple rotations which really gives it the unique feel.
With a full single-player campaign that gives you little challenges for each of the 42 levels, it's certainly not short on replayable content. There's also the versus mode which you can play against the AI in random maps, you can play online with up to 6 people and there's even a level editor.
It does mix in some special tiles too that helps to keep it fresh. Some point in both directions to capture more, some rotate a different way, some tiles require other tiles to be pointed at both ends and more. There's a huge amount to like about how well done Hexteria is for such a simple basic mechanic that keeps me wanting more from it. I'm going to enjoy this for some time to come.
Game Features:
Online and Offline Multiplayer for up to 6 players
Single Player Campaign with 42 levels
Use the Level Editor to create, share and play your own levels
AI controlled players with 4 difficulty levels
Unique challenges which will grant you 5 different powerups!
The only issue I had in my playthrough is that setting it into fullscreen turned it black, this has been reported to the developer. Other than that it worked fine. If you like strategy games it's worth picking up, especially for the multiplayer too which can be a lot of fun
Aliens have come to the Earth but they're tiny so they've brainwashed various bugs to invade your home, so it's time to step up and build some towers. Note: the developer sent over a key.
This is the first game from developer Full Screen Games that originally released back in February, however they've ported it to Linux just recently with it releasing a native build back in late September.
The developer mentioned they went for the welcoming cartoon-like style of early Micro Machines with the Tower Defense genre to give a rather unique look in the genre. Similar to a lot of other TD games mechanically with you facing waves from a few different locations in each level. This is not a game to just sit back and relax while your towers do the work though, as some of them require manual interaction to keep working. There's a poison sprayer for example which gradually runs out, so you need to keep an eye on it to reload it.
In between missions you also get to unlock new towers, upgrade towers to be stronger and also unlock various special abilities. You start off with two of these abilities that enable you to do things like squish bugs with your fist or shoes, with you also being able to supercharge your abilities to get more out of them.
Each level also has a special environmental feature too. Since each is set in a small part of your home, these little bugs are running through and you get a few household items to use against them like glue to slow them or what looks like a Pez launcher to block them. It's thoroughly quirky and that's why I liked it.
Not particularly long or challenging but good overall. You can buy it on Steam.
