| VG247 Latest Articles Feed 09:02 | | It's just like being back in the old days; Elden Ring news is hard to come by, and the developers of the game have retreated into the studio to put the finishing touches to the game, with nothing being said about the title since a handful of previews went live in August. It's just like that big gulf of news we had between the game's announcement in 2019 and the big trailer reveal back in June. Tokyo Game Show 2021, at least, unveiled some new information for us. Producer Yasuhiro Kitao gave a few brief comments to Famitsu during the event, and allowed us to glean a few more details about the upcoming action-RPG in the process. As per the developer, the game is on track for its January 21, 2022 launch and is currently in the "final stages of development", with the studio "moving forward quietly." Very on-brand. Thanks to a translation via the Elden Ring subreddit, we've learned that – even by FromSoftware standards – the game has a "very unusual map structure" that lets you explore where you want, when you want, but "also tells you when you're in trouble." Interesting. Read more |
| VG247 Latest Articles Feed 08:33 | | It's not often you get a brand-new take on a well established genre, but BPM: Bullets Per Minute is exactly that. Check out this quick look at the game running on PS5. While BPM launched on PC about a year ago, it's now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5. As a rhythm FPS, the twist here is that you can only shoot, jump, reload, and dodge on the beat of the music. This makes for a completely different feeling shooter, and one that has to be seen/played to truly get a sense of what's going on. BPM features randomly generated dungeons, so you can keep coming back for a slightly different experience and work on improving your run. Read more |

A new physical release including four games from the Asdivine series is headed to Switch thanks to Limited Run Games, and pre-orders are going live today. Aptly named Asdivine Collection, the release includes Asdivine Hearts, Asdivine Hearts II, Asdivine Dios and Asdivine Menace. | Nintendo Life | Latest Updates 08:45 | | Pumping! We've been following the story of the new series of video game TV show GamesMaster for a while now, from the initial rumours to the confirmation that Scottish comic Robert 'Rab' Florence would be the main presenter. Now, we can reveal that the competition segments of the show will be filmed at Crossness Pumping Station in London, thanks to a tweet by one of Florence's co-presenters, Frankie Ward. The pumping station was constructed between 1859 and 1865 by William Webster with the aim of upgrading London's overstretched sewerage system. Architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner described it as "a Victorian cathedral of ironwork", which sounds rather nice. You might recognise the location from the 2009 movie Sherlock Holmes. | Nintendo Life | Latest Updates 08:30 | | "At least" HDMI 2.0 on-board. The dock which ships with the Switch OLED is capable of outputting 4K 60fps, it has been suggested. The claim comes from YouTuber Nintendo Prime, who managed to get hold of a console ahead of its official release on Friday. When comparing the revised dock with the original one, it was found that not only does the dock itself have the HDMI 2.0 controller required for 4K output, but the cable it ships with is also 4K-ready. | PCGamesN 09:56 | | Red Dead Online is getting a little something extra for its weekly reset this week. Rockstar Games has released the Western game's fourth Quick Draw Pass, which comes with heaps of cosmetics for you to grind for. You'll get the full rundown when the developer publishes its weekly Newswire post, though players are already dipping into the game to see what cosmetics are on offer for this particular club pass. The way the Quick Draw Pass works is reasonably simple - you level the rootin' tootin' thing up and get cosmetics as a reward for hitting certain experience point milestones. You can pick one up for 25 gold bars and, in return, you'll fetch 25 ranks of goodies to grind for. If you complete the whole thing, you'll even get 25 gold bars to show for it. This one is available to buy until October 27 and includes the Dunster outfit, Forester poncho, and Huntingdock coat. Rockstar further explains in the game that all of the Quick Draw club rewards up to your current rank will unlock instantly after you pick the pass up. | PCGamesN 09:56 | | Thanks to a recent addition to the horror game's public Trello board, we know there's a Phasmophobia Halloween update on the way, with "nightmare difficulty" and some more, as-yet unknown, things in tow. Now, the team at Kinetic Games has started teasing some new content on the way, which will presumably arrive with Phasmophobia's spooky season update. In a post on the ghost game's Twitter channel (below), Kinetic shares a journal page with a rundown of the various Phasmophobia ghost types known so far, but with two new entries blurred out. On the page next to it, there's what looks to be a brief of at least one of these new spirits, outlining their specific behaviour, strength, weakness, and the evidence types needed to nab them - again, with all the juicy bits blurred out, to get the community guessing. What's intriguing is the wording of the description page. Unlike all the other ghost types, which are just referred to as single entities, this information starts with a 'The' and seems to refer to them as plural entities ("have been reported..."). Then there are the clues in their ability to "mimic" certain actions and use "attacks to confuse". Some fans are guessing from these clues, along with what they make out from the blurred ghost name, that this could refer to some kind of dual-natured ghost or a pair of ghosts, such as 'The Twins'. | PCGamesN 09:02 | | Following the launch of League of Legends patch 11.19 and just ahead of the incoming League of Legends patch 11.20, there are big deals on a bunch of skins and some of the best League of Legends champions right now. Each week, Riot Games throws an in-game sale giving you the chance to scoop up some characters and styles you might have had your eye on for a while, and there are some goodies worth being aware of this round. There are 15 skins and five champions on sale this week (of October 4) at up to 60% off their regular price. This week's selection offers a pretty wide variety of skins for cheap, with discounts on styles across quite a few of the MOBA game's lines, such as the Blackfrost, Arcade, High Noon, Blood Moon, and Cosmic Hunter universes, among others. As for champions on sale this week, there's a mixture of old favourites all seeing their prices dropped at the moment, with League of Legends champs Nocturne, Lissandra, LeBlanc, Fizz, and Graves all discounted. | PCGamesN 08:05 | | The end of the 2021 League of Legends patch cycle nears, LoL fans. League of Legends patch 11.19 - the second of the MOBA game's two pre-Worlds patches - has left the testing grounds for (live) pastures new, and it's now 11.20's turn to make its debut on the PBE for a fortnight of tinkering and test-driving. So, let's dig into it and see what's coming. So far, we've got some suitably spooky new skins coming up, just in time for Halloween. There are six new styles from League's Bewitching alternate universe line this patch, with lucky champions Fiora, Nami, Poppy, Syndra, and Yuumi getting their own skins, while Morgana gets her Prestige Edition Bewitching skin with 11.20. You can check these out in the New Champion Skins section below to see the splashes and skins in action. As for balance changes, this patch we've got gameplay updates for Amumu, Darius, Shen, Hecarim, and - well - a good ol' handful of champs. We also know that Rengar will be hanging about for some more testing, though there's no set release patch for his changes just yet. You can catch the latest details on all these changes in the relevant sections below. RELATED LINKS: Best LoL Champions , League of Legends patch 11.20, LoL tier list |
