If you regularly sleep in Minecraft - whether because you want to dodge phantoms or you just don't like the darkness - you probably haven't seen rain or a thunderstorm in quite a while. As we head toward the Minecraft 1.18 release date, snapshot betas have been previewing new features for that update, but a bug fix to make it rain again might just be the most exciting new feature of all.
"Sleeping now only resets the weather cycle if it was raining", as the patch notes explain. A report on the official bug tracker explains the issue in a bit more detail. Sleeping is meant to skip the current weather conditions, so you can sleep through a thunderstorm, but up to this point, sleeping has reset the weather cycle entirely. So if you sleep every night, it would be unlikely to ever rain. That'll no longer be an issue once this update goes live.
Snapshot 21W44A also makes some improvements to the new world generation system, allowing caves to be "inserted under existing chunks when upgrading a world to the new world height" - meaning you'll be able to enjoy the deeper caves just fine when you upgrade your old worlds.

However, the game has already been delayed. Marvel's Midnight Suns is now due to launch in the second half of 2022.
"We decided to share that we've made the very tough decision to move our launch window to the second half of 2022," the devs say in a tweet. "We know many fans were looking forward to playing the game originally next spring, and this decision did not come lightly. We decided to push our launch because we need more time to make this the best game possible."
The devs say that the extra development time "will be used to add more story, cinematics, and overall polish, and will be essential in helping us make our vision a reality". This announcement comes alongside the latest financial report from Take-Two, the parent company of the game's publisher, 2K.

Earlier this week, we got the season's name and a look at a new weapon - now we've gotten a cinematic look at the new operator, Thorn, and a clear demonstration of her new gadget.
Thorn will be in the Defender role, and if the red hair and accent in the trailer don't give it away, she's Irish. Her gadget is a sticky grenade that can be placed on a wall - it apparently works as a trap, because we see it explode into shrapnel when a group of enemies get close. We also see her wielding what appears to be the new SMG that appeared in the earlier teaser.
This all matches with what we've heard about Thorn from dataminers leading up to this reveal. According to the leaked info, those explosives are called Razorbloom Shells - once one is triggered, it'll turn red, then explode after a small delay, dealing proximity-based damage to enemies.

To celebrate the strategy game's victorious release, and its day one arrival on Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft has teamed up with a fan-favourite tech YouTuber to create a custom gaming PC that's not just armed to the teeth with the latest components, it's also clad in metal armour.
Assembled by UrAvgConsumer, the custom Age of Empires IV PC is armed with an AMD Ryzen 5600X gaming CPU, an MSI Gaming Z Trio RTX 3070, 16GB of G-Skill gaming RAM, and a dexterous Samsung 980 Pro SSD. While the latest entry to the renowned strategy series won't wage war on most gaming PCs, UrAvgConsumer says they wanted "a strong system like this to have some of the power to back it up."
Of course, while the innards of this commemorative build are impressive, the real star of the show is the machine's heavy metal exterior, which comprises armoured shoulders and a short sword as the cherry on top. The gallant gaming PC might be medieval-themed, but UrAvgConsumer made sure to throw some RBG lighting into the mix, which makes this project look like some sort of eldritch knight.
RELATED LINKS: Age of Empires 4 release date, Age of Empires 4 review, The best RTS games on PCIn terms of strategy games like Civilization, Humankind is one of the strongest contenders we've seen yet. The recently released 4X game is still a bit rough around the edges, though, but it's nothing a few patches can't fix. A couple of months after the previous update, the 'Fabius Maximus' patch lands today, with new world setting options, culture balancing, mod support, and an in-game event themed on the Día de los Muertos festival popular in South America.
You can now alter the abundance level of strategic and luxury resources in any given game, which will create new tensions as civilisations compete (or trade) for what they need. Lots of cultures have also been given a balance pass as well, with developer Amplitude focusing on ones that most often got labeled as too weak, or too OP (we're looking at you, Khmer).
Also starting with this patch is Humankind's foray into modding. Official Mod.io integration has now been introduced to the game, and the developer released an overview of the basics of this last week. Actual mod tools have yet to be released, however, but we're told they'll be coming via Steam soon. At the time of writing, most of the Humankind mods you'll find on Mod.io are map mods, although there is also this really cool mod that lets you explore the game world from a first-person perspective.

Now, the devs have just shared a very detailed look at how this mode will work which is, I kid you not, well over 3,000 words long. So, buckle up.
The in-depth rundown of the upcoming PC game's Portal mode comes alongside a new gameplay reveal (below), which shares a first look at Battle of the Bulge, El Alamein, Arica Harbor, Valparaiso, Noshahr Canals, and Caspian Border. Starting at launch, there'll be some readily available default experiences that will let players relive these classic maps in the style fans will remember, and through Portal, players can dive into these direct from the game - "or if you prefer, you can use these experiences as starting points that you can edit to create something more personal".
Creating custom experiences starts with the 'Core' part of Portal, first by choosing the game mode that'll serve as your foundation. At launch, these will include Conquest Large, Conquest, Rush, Free-For-All, and Team Deathmatch - the latter two of which are most deeply adjustable using the game's Rules Editor - a "powerful visual programming tool", covered below - on top of the game's other modifiers and toggles.

We got a brief glimpse last week after the developers ran a feature stream that looked at the expansion in action, but there are also the dev diaries, which will continue all the way up to release and beyond as the team moves on to talk about what's coming next.
This week's dev diary spends some time looking at the tech improvements coming as part of the expansion, but it also showcases how the programmers also like to get involved in the content design as well. The tech lead for Hearts of Iron IV is the author of today's update, and apparently they've always had a pet peeve regarding some of the French focus tree options introduced in the previous major Hearts of Iron 4 DLC, La Resistance.
In what we can only assume was a great revolutionary movement that rivaled the Russian Civil War, the teach lead decided to go into the game and make some of the communist paths slightly more accurate. They even going as far as to buy and ship a rare portrait from France to Sweden so the art team could create a better image for the game.

From magical bears to cars that can fire lasers, you've been able to do some weird and wonderful things via the command console. Check out our guides to Age of Empires 3 cheats or Age of Empires 2 cheats if you want an idea of what past RTS games have done.
Will Age of Empires 4 have cheats? Yes - World's Edge creative director Adam Isgreen confirmed in an interview with Rock,Paper,Shotgun that cheats would be coming post-launch, but they're not in the game currently. What the timetable is going to be is unknown, as it really depends on whether there were any consumer-friendly cheats used during game development.
For cheats that involve funny super units, the art for those would need to be created as well, assuming they weren't done prior to launch. It's not as simple and flicking a switch and making everything available for the masses.

The stock version of the Sten SMG is already one of the best guns in Vanguard, and can be deadly when customised with the right attachments. Sure, some of these attachments may not look great, though the effect they have on the Sten is deniable. What makes this weapon so powerful is its mobility, allowing you to dash through buildings in record time.
One of the Sten's best attributes is its fast rate of fire which results in a quick time to kill speed. We can harness this power by reducing the recoil on the weapon, making it significantly easier to target enemies from afar. The Sten is an excellent close range weapon, but it's also capable of dominating from mid range with the right set of attachments.
Our Sten loadout has been designed to reduce as much recoil as possible, while maintaining the weapon's high mobility stats. With a new magazine type and a few attachments to make the gun stealthy, the Sten has the potential to become a real problem on close quarters maps.
It's Godzilla Day, the annual occurrence where Toho puts together a whole lot of merch and marketing to remind you just who really is the King of the Monsters. But hey, you don't have to actually have a stake in Godzilla to enjoy a celebration of giant monsters. The indie devs behind Kaiju Wars are taking the opportunity to provide some new features in the demo for the upcoming strategy game.
This update adds local versus multiplayer to the Kaiju Wars demo on Steam, which you can also take online via Steam Remote Play. If you've not checked out the game before, it pits humanity's forces against seemingly-unstoppable giant monsters, so in the multiplayer mode, one player takes on that role as normal.
The other player controls the kaiju, stomping around the maps, using abilities to wreak further havoc, and making use of Dark Project powers to make life even harder for the player controlling the humans. The devs warn that "this mode sure isn't balanced at all", but accepting your helplessness in the face of a giant monster attack is just part of the fun of kaiju, right?
If you're looking for the best tank build in New World, then here's how to build the ideal loadout using a sword and shield. The sword is currently the only weapon in New World that can be used with a shield - although the sword is fairly weak compared to other hefty New World weapons, it can be used to build a highly defensive tanky loadout for both PvE and PvP.
It's important that you equip your sword with a carnelian gem - this provides a taunting perk for your weapon, used alongside the Shield Bash and Defiant Stance in the mastery defender tree. The build is made up of both defender and swordmaster abilities, and although the sword provides strength attributes, it's best to scale up in both dexterity and constitution to withstand damage.
These tank builds are used to defend and mitigate damage so other party members can deal damage, so they're best paired with DPS builds like the best New World Fire Staff build, melee-focused DPS such as the rapier, war hammer, hatchet, and great axe, or a life staff healer build. Take note of the abilities that slow enemies, as the tank particularly excels in crowd control, and AoE damage can be used to maximise your efficiency. So here are the best New World tank builds using a sword and shield for both PvE and PvP.

Yunjin's name has popped up several times already in Genshin Impact, though the most recent update changes it to 'Yun Jin'. Back in January 2021, dataminer Lumie shared a render of the character on Twitter. Back then, leakers believed she was a five-star Polearm user with geo abilities. She has also appeared in the game, albeit scarcely. We caught a glimpse of her during a recent cutscene for the Moonchase Festival, and several existing characters mention her by name in their voice lines. She hails from Liyue and is a part of the Heyu Tea House troupe, becoming a particularly popular performer in the region.
As ever with datamines, though, keep in mind that Mihoyo hasn't revealed the content itself, and it could be subject to change if it is legitimate. Nevertheless, here's everything we know about Yun Jin so far.

We've had time to test several different builds since the new MMO game launched, and we've concluded that outside of the magic weapons, one of the best New World weapons is the great axe. It may be slower to use than most other melee weapons, but it's a fantastic option for those wanting to chop away at foes in a DPS role.
To build an excellent loadout for New World, you need to spend time killing enemies to level up weapons, choose which skills to equip, and allocate attribute points. Therefore, you should assign your character's attribute points carefully to maximise the impact of both weapons in your build. While it takes more skill to use a great axe in combat than other weapons, the effort is most certainly worth it.
If you're running a powerful axe build, particularly the PvE build in this guide, you'll benefit from tackling dungeons and bosses alongside someone who is using the best New World tank build, using the sword and shield. We also have DPS build configurations for the best New World fire staff build. This guide will go over both of the best great axe builds, though if you'd rather spec into a different melee-focused build, why not try out our best New World war hammer build, best New World hatchet build, or best New World rapier build instead.

Activision surprised the Call of Duty community by announcing that Vanguard is going to launch with 16 multiplayer maps. To put this into perspective, Black Ops Cold War controversially featured just eight maps at launch. Additional maps eventually made their way to the game, but it took Cold War almost six months to reach the same number of maps Vanguard launches with.
One of Vanguard's new features is the destructible cover system which dynamically adjusts the map depending on where the action zones are. You might hide behind a wall in the first minute of the game only to find that it has been destroyed by the end of the match. Players can target specific pieces of cover by throwing a barrage of grenades at it, stopping anyone from taking refuge there.
All 16 maps in Vanguard are playable in 6v6, 12v12, and 24v24 configurations. Not all maps are the same size, and there are some particularly small maps which get absolutely demolished when played with 48 people. With Call of Duty Vanguard's release date right around the corner, this is the perfect time to study the new maps. Here are the multiplayer maps in Call of Duty Vanguard so far.
Yoimiya joins the roster of new Genshin Impact characters as part of the current Genshin Impact banner alongside the four-star Sayu. If you're looking for the best Yoimiya build in Genshin Impact, then here's how to create the ideal build based on Yoimiya's abilities.
The Genshin Impact Yoimiya banner, Tapestry of Golden Flames, has dropped. You now have a chance to play as the five-star firework shop owner, also known as the Queen of the Summer Festival, who lives in Inazuma City in Hanamizaka. She is a five-star Pyro bow user, and although players may be hesitant to try her out due to her lack of AoE damage, it is possible to build Yoimiya as a powerful DPS character.
Alongside Yoimiya's banner, Epitome Invocation also boosts the drop-rate for the event-exclusive Thundering Pulse bow, as well as the four-star weapons Sacrificial Sword, Rainslasher claymore, Dragon's Bane polearm, Sacrificial Fragments catalyst, and Favonius Warbow. There's also a chance to pull Diona and Xinyan, alongside Yoimiya and Sayu.

The patch notes for Far Cry 6's latest patch, Title Update 2, have arrived. Alongside a bunch of gameplay and quality-of-life tweaks, and a round of bug fixes, the update brings a rather surprising change: it's removed one of the action-adventure game's missions, but that's because it was launched a bit earlier than planned.
"This update includes bug fixes, performance improvements, and upcoming content that will release in the coming weeks," Ubisoft community manager UbiKoality posts in the game's 'news and announcements' hub. "This update also removes the Dani and Danny vs Everybody mission as it was accidentally released too early," the post explains, adding that the studio "look[s] forward to players checking out the final version in the future".
Similarly, on Twitter, Ubisoft explains that the mission accidentally released early "is a work-in-progress", and apologises for any confusion, adding that it'll "follow up shortly with more information". It looks like we know roughly when the fully-complete mission will be released, though, as Far Cry 6's post-launch content roadmap lists Danny and Dani vs Everybody as a free crossover mission coming up sometime this December.
