Animal Crossing: New Horizons' October direct presentation did mention that the incoming massive update would introduce a new point of view, but if you forgot that was the case, I wouldn't blame you. There was a lot in there, because this update—which is now live early—is massive. But even knowing it was coming didn't…
If you've been eagerly awaiting Animal Crossing: New Horizons' impending v2.0 patch, you can breathe a sigh of relief: Nintendo has apparently pushed the massive update live way ahead of its November 5 release date. Most folks were expecting to download it tomorrow night but, nope, Christmas came early.
After an investigation into last month's leaked data, it has been alleged that a group of hackers laundered almost $10 million in illegally-obtained funds by making a ton of tiny donations to Twitch streamers.
Death Stranding is an objectively beautiful game, though sometimes that beauty isn't found in its lush environments or character interactions but how players use the tools at their disposal to pull off amazing feats.
Take-Two revealed in its earnings call today with investors that it had cancelled a $53 million unannounced project. Sources tell Kotaku that game was intended to be a live service, third-person action game in the vein of Destiny, developed by Hangar 13 called Volt. The decision to cancel it took some developers at…
If you love playing Destiny 2, but also appreciate playing other games every once in a while, then welcome: You're in the right place. And if you actually don't like playing Destiny 2, but wish you had something similar to get lost in, then you're in the right place, too.
Despite having just been announced less than three months ago, Marvel's Midnight Suns, a tactics role-playing game in the vein of XCOM, has been delayed, developer Firaxis Games announced today. It will now come out in the back half of 2022, pushed out of a previously vague March 2022 window.
There are two things the internet loves more than anything else: NFTs and EA microtransactions. In a conference call following today's financial report, investors asked EA the obvious question: what if you put the two together? What if FIFA Ultimate Team cards were also NFTs? To what will surely be the great delight of every observer, EA seems open to the possibility.
Asked about the rise of 'play-to-earn' features in games - or at least the increased discussion about the potential of NFTs in games - EA CEO Andrew Wilson says "I do think it will be an important part of the future of our industry. But it's still early to figure out how that's going to work. I feel good about our position with respect to that."
Alluding to features like FIFA Ultimate Team, Wilson says "as a company, we have been leaders in the creation of digital content that has real collectable value in the embedding of that content as part of live services. What we know about collection over time is that collectability is far more valuable to the collector where the collected item has utility. In the context of the games that we create and the live services that we offer, collectable digital content is going to play a meaningful part in our future. It's still early to tell, but I think we're in a really good position, and you should expect us to think more innovatively and creatively about that on a go-forward basis."
If you regularly sleep in Minecraft - whether because you want to dodge phantoms or you just don't like the darkness - you probably haven't seen rain or a thunderstorm in quite a while. As we head toward the Minecraft 1.18 release date, snapshot betas have been previewing new features for that update, but a bug fix to make it rain again might just be the most exciting new feature of all.
"Sleeping now only resets the weather cycle if it was raining", as the patch notes explain. A report on the official bug tracker explains the issue in a bit more detail. Sleeping is meant to skip the current weather conditions, so you can sleep through a thunderstorm, but up to this point, sleeping has reset the weather cycle entirely. So if you sleep every night, it would be unlikely to ever rain. That'll no longer be an issue once this update goes live.
Snapshot 21W44A also makes some improvements to the new world generation system, allowing caves to be "inserted under existing chunks when upgrading a world to the new world height" - meaning you'll be able to enjoy the deeper caves just fine when you upgrade your old worlds.

However, the game has already been delayed. Marvel's Midnight Suns is now due to launch in the second half of 2022.
"We decided to share that we've made the very tough decision to move our launch window to the second half of 2022," the devs say in a tweet. "We know many fans were looking forward to playing the game originally next spring, and this decision did not come lightly. We decided to push our launch because we need more time to make this the best game possible."
The devs say that the extra development time "will be used to add more story, cinematics, and overall polish, and will be essential in helping us make our vision a reality". This announcement comes alongside the latest financial report from Take-Two, the parent company of the game's publisher, 2K.
