WoW Lich King dungeon finder axed as it didn't

Don't expect to see a World of Warcraft Classic Wrath of the Lich King dungeon finder when the expansion launches later this year, as Blizzard confirms that it is removing the feature. PCGamesN spoke to Blizzard about this, and was told the MMORPG game's dungeon finder was axed because "that's not the game we're making".

During the official announcement of Wrath of the Lich King Classic, lead producer Holly Longdale specifically mentioned that the team would not be including the dungeon finder feature in the re-release, as it's "not a good fit for our community". Dungeon finder was a feature introduced in the original expansion that automatically finds random players to do a specific dungeon and teleports them there.

The argument against this feature is that it erodes the MMO's social aspect, as software engineer Kevin Vigue tells PCGamesN. A "large part" of what the team calls the "core of Classic" is the social aspect. "I've had people who I met in a random dungeon run who have become lifelong friends," Vigue explains. "For me, that's something that Classic excels at, and a lot of that comes from how you meet other people."

Nvidia GPU drivers are better than AMD and Intel, says Nvidia

The green team is so proud of its Nvidia GPU drivers, it recently released a video that details just how successful the Game Ready program is. Since it launched in 2014, Nvidia has published 150 drivers that support more than 400 different games. It's so confident in its process that Senior Product Manager, Sean Pelletier, cheekily puts AMD - and potentially Intel - on blast.

Specifically, Pelletier boasts about the quality of Nvidia GPU drivers compared to its rivals. Since there are thousands of different gaming PC and gaming laptop setups running Nvidia hardware, the company says it conducts 1,000 tests per day across more than 4,500 configurations in order to ship drivers in a timely fashion. If that doesn't sound impressive enough, he also highlights that this equals 1.8 million hours throughout 2021, which is more than 214 years of testing.

Jabbing at AMD's penchant for releasing beta drivers before they're Microsoft Windows Hardware Quality Lab (WHQL) certified, Pelletier says "Nvidia does not release beta Game Ready drivers," likening the process to the quality of early access games versus their final release.

Overwatch 2 release date – Sojourn, beta access, and more

When is the Overwatch 2 release date? Blizzard has revealed the sequel to its 2016 team-based hero shooter, and although the release is still a mystery, everyone is teething for an answer. While the devs had plans to keep the Overwatch community up to date with the game's development, the departure of game director Jeff Kaplan, among other developments at Blizzard ultimately put a stop to this plan.

In March 2022, Blizzard announced their plans to decouple the PvP features of the FPS game from the PvE systems. This change makes it possible to get Overwatch 2's PvP game mode into the hands of players right away, starting with an Overwatch 2 beta in the last week of April. The Overwatch 2 release date might not arrive any time soon, but there may be more beta periods in store for the community. The PvP side of Overwatch 2 still exists, but this portion of the game isn't ready to be shown just yet.

If you haven't been keeping up with Overwatch 2, you may not know about the new heroes coming to the game, or the hero reworks to rebalance certain characters. Here's everything we know about Overwatch 2's release date so far, including the recent PvP and PvE split, every new hero, and more.

Nvidia RTX 4090 – release date, price, spec, and benchmarks

The Nvidia RTX 4090 - which might actually release as the RTX 5090 - looks to be a strong best graphics card contender, and it could shake up the gaming PC scene as we know it. While the green team is still focussing on its GeForce RTX 3000 series, the prospect of playing the latest Steam games on a GPU twice as fast as the RTX 3090 is undeniably exciting.

The idea of an RTX 4090 GPU might feel like a pipedream at the moment, as GPU and CPU shortages are still hampering rig upgrades across the globe. Thankfully, Nvidia looks set to ride the out of stock storm head-on, as it has already spent $10 billion securing RTX 4000 components. Availability is one thing, but increased demand has also led to rocketing GPU prices, and crypto mining enthusiasts are willing to pay a pretty penny.

If you're planning on picking up a next-gen GPU, you'll want to learn as much as you can about Nvidia's next flagship graphics card. Since we're a helpful bunch, we've been keeping our ear to the ground to pick up any RTX 4090 price, release date, and spec information that's rumbling around the rumour mill.

Valorant 4.08 patch notes appear early with Neon changes

The Valorant 4.08 patch notes have appeared online, perhaps earlier than Riot Games had intended. Fans wasted little time sharing all the details of the upcoming Fade update on Reddit after they appeared on Valorant's Taiwanese website.

While the notes have been posted in the country's native language, several fans have stepped in to translate what's been provided. Reddit user Rayhacker shares that Neon is getting some changes alongside Jett and Sova. Riot is making Neon's sliding abilities smoother to use, though the shift catching everyone's attention is that her Fast Lane ability no longer hurts teammates. Fast Lane functions as a vision blocking manoeuvre that damages everyone aside from Neon, including your team, if you've been out of the loop. We've some amusing goofs because of that in professional play, so the changes are probably for the best.

You've also got the previously reported changes to Jett and Sova. Riot is tweaking Jett's Tailwind ability to ensure that players can't dash away from tricky situations for free. Soon, you'll need to be more mindful of your pushes. On the other hand, Sova won't deal as much damage when using shock darts and it looks like they will only be able to use their drone for seven seconds instead of ten. Keep in mind that these patch notes aren't official yet, so slight values could still change.

Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti GPU with 46GB VRAM could be on the cards

An Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti graphics card could be on the way, and it might guzzle more power than its rumoured RTX 4000 series counterparts. According to reliable leaker Kopite7Kimi, the green team is considering a souped up variant of the RTX 4090 that uses two 16-pin connectors and a "full fat" version of the AD102 chip.

In terms of specs, the Nvidia RTX 4090 Ti is rumoured to pack 48GB of GDDR6X VRAM, doubling the suspected figure of the vanilla RTX 4090. As you'd perhaps expect, the green team's best graphics card is seemingly ravenous when it comes to power, as it's supposedly designed to slurp up 900W. In other words, upgrading to the rumoured flagship GPU means you'll likely also need to look into picking up the best power supply possible.

Kopite7Kimi also rocks the boat when it comes to RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 GPUs, as its upcoming graphics card contenders will allegedly use respective AD103 and AD104 chips. Spec leaks previously suggested that these SKUs belonged to the RTX 4060 and RTX 4070, with higher-end options utilising the flagship AD102 die.

Elden Ring patch 1.04.1 makes Malenia less undefeatable

The Elden Ring 1.04.1 patch notes are here and they pretty much confirm that the update today on Steam is just about sorting the problems with the RPG game's last patch. Rejoice anyone struggling through one of the toughest Elden Ring bosses, as Malenia is now fixed so she's slightly less undefeatable.

Elden Ring patch 1.04 went live last week with the main goal of patching Patches, which other than being lovely to write basically extended the backstabbing character's questline with an extra fight. However, the patch also had the unintended (?) consequence of somehow making Malenia - who is already one of the toughest bosses FromSoftware has ever made - even more difficult.

Slight spoiler for the fight - Malenia has the ability to heal every time she hits the player with one of her attacks. That's bad enough already. However, in what is probably (conspiracy hat on) an elaborate troll against the popular player Let Me Solo Her (hat off), update 1.04 allowed Malenia to heal whenever she attacks, regardless of whether she hit someone or not.

League of Legends patch 12.8 notes – Swain update, Eclipse skins

After a couple of weeks on the PBE, the League of Legends patch 12.8 notes are here. While LoL patch 12.7 touched down on the live servers just earlier this month, Riot Games wasted no time getting more content ready for the MOBA game as MSI draws near.

Patch 12.7 introduces Arcana skins for champions Ahri, Xayah, Rakan, Ryze, and Hecarim. If some flashy new duds aren't your thing, you'll want to check out the champion changes. While Riot has tweaked a few familiar faces, the most significant change comes to Zeri, who has got a total rework.

Patch 12.8 is no slouch either. You've got Solar Eclipse skins for Kayle, Sejuani, and Sivir; Lunar Eclipse skins for Aatrox and Senna; and other unique skins for Gangplank and Yasuo. We've also got our first peep at mid-scope tweaks for Swain, with more for Olaf coming in a future update. It's not all about Swain, though, as we have another 18 champion changes to eyeball, too.

I respect shape-making puzzle game Tandis, though I am terrible at it. It's a game about bending and distorting shapes by applying mathematical transformations, starting with a simple flat sheet and aiming to replicate elaborate 3D shapes which look like blown glass sculptures. It's done cleverly and simply by dragging shapes through zones which distort them in real time but alas, I myself am simple too. Some of the shapes I've accidentally made in Tandis are downright reality-breaking.

Kingdom Hearts 4 New Information

In an interview with Famitsu, Kingdom Hearts series Director Tetsuya Nomura shared a few more details about Kingdom Hearts 4. He stated that the team will be prioritizing development on Kingdom Hearts 4 and that no new information beyond this interview will release anytime soon. That said, Nomura did reveal a bit of new information concerning several key characters, the Lost Masters, and the staff of Kingdom Hearts 4. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

Nomura reveals that the footage in the Kingdom Hearts 4 trailer was made in Unreal Engine 4. However, the game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. He mentions that future footage will potentially include how Kingdom Hearts 4 will look on Unreal Engine 5. Regarding staff working on Kingdom Hearts 4, Tetsuya Nomura will be joined by Oka Masaru (Kingdom Hearts III) and Akiko Ishibashi (Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII).

Nomura also revealed that the Lost Masters will appear as a group similar to Organization XIII. This means that they will be working in opposition to Sora. Additionally, he spoke briefly about another character in Kingdom Hearts 4: a girl who apparently knows about Quadratum. While much about her is a mystery, Nomura hints that she is a character from Verum Rex. Nomura also touched on previously established characters and revealed that the 5 Masters, with the exception of Luxu, have disappeared. It is unclear if they will appear in Kingdom Hearts 4 in any capacity.

Kingdom Hearts 4 is in development.

Kingdom Hearts Missing Link Closed Beta

The Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link closed beta test will appear sometime in Fall 2022. According to an interview with Famitsu, the mobile title will feature a closed beta period. However, more information on this will appear in the future. That said, the interview also disclosed a key staff member that will be working on the narrative of Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

Ruiko Fukazawa, who has writing credits on Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, will be working on the main scenario for the mobile title. However, the bit of the interview that is available does not disclose further information about the staff or the contents of the narrative.

What we do know about Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link is that players will assume the role of the protagonist. There will be character customization, similar to Kingdom Hearts Union X. Kingdom Hearts series Director Tetsuya Nomura also spoke briefly on the potential of Disney worlds appearing in Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link. He stated that the team is still in the process of properly implementing these worlds. Originally, areas were covered almost completely in Disney motifs, but Nomura felt as though this was a bit overkill. As a result, some areas may feel more inspired by Disney properties.

Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link is in development for Android and iOS devices, with the closed beta test scheduled for Fall 2022.

Devil May Cry 5 Worldwide Sales

Capcom announced that sales for Devil May Cry 5 have exceeded 5 million units worldwide. This includes digital and physical sales of the title. However, Capcom did not specify if this number includes sales of Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition. In March 2019, Capcom announced that Devil May Cry 5 sales had surpassed 2 million units worldwide. This came shortly after the initial release of the Devil May Cry 5, which happened within the same month and year.

In December 2021, Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition won a PlayStation Special Award. This was due to it being a notable title from Asian developers that released around the launch of the PlayStation 5 with noteworthy statistics such as player numbers.

Various characters from Devil May Cry 5 have appeared in several different titles. The characters include V, Nero, and Dante specifically. All three characters appeared in Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 for a limited time. They were available to obtain as crossover characters. Additionally, Nero and Dante have appeared in the mobile title Last Cloudia. Like their appearance in Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2, they were available to obtain for a limited period of time.

Devil May Cry 5 is available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Kirby Victory Dance

The Kirby series is celebrating its 30th anniversary today, April 27, 2022. In celebration, game director Masahiro Sakurai shared a story about the development of the first Kirby game, Kirby's Dream Land.

Kirby's Dream Land released for the Nintendo Game Boy in 1992. Developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo, the game featured simple mechanics that would continue to appear in later titles. Its main playable character, Kirby, would also become one of Nintendo's most popular mascots. Masahiro Sakurai served as the director of Kirby's Dream Land.

In a Tweet celebrating the series' 30th anniversary, Sakurai discussed one iconic aspect of the Kirby franchise: Kirby's victory dance.

https://twitter.com/Sora_Sakurai/status/1518968643454857222?s=20&t=mCA0MNswdFnf1KuezlVJHQ

During development, Sakurai was in charge of animating Kirby's signature dance. However, when he asked the sound designer how many frames were in the victory dance theme song, the sound designer was unable to give him an answer. Therefore, Sakurai copied the theme song onto a cassette tape and listened to it repeatedly while animating the dance. Additionally, when asked why several Kirbys spawn seemingly out of nowhere during the dance, Sakurai simply answered that it was "more fun that way."

As part of the Kirby 30th anniversary, Japanese brand Takarajima is releasing limited-edition palm-sized lights, plushes, and other merchandise.

The latest game in the Kirby series, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, is available on Nintendo Switch.
