4X game Dune: Spice Wars is finding an audience on Steam

Dune: Spice Wars has been an appealing prospect ever since it was announced - a real-time 4X game from the indie devs behind the well-loved Northgard, and it's based on the freshly invigorated Dune IP? That's a winning formula, and with today's Steam Early Access launch, it seems the game is already finding an audience.

Dune: Spice Wars reached a peak of 8,397 concurrent players on Steam today (as SteamDB shows), putting it right around the threshold of the platform's top 100 games, and it's currently on top of the 'top seller' charts. It's earning 'very positive' reviews from players so far, with a 78% positive rating. The positive reviews are largely focused on the volume of Dune lore and the variety offered by the factions, while the negatives focus on the game's slow pace.

Early critic reviews from outlets like IGN and Rock, Paper, Shotgun echo some of the same sentiments. "There are some balancing issues with the victory conditions and espionage mechanics, as well as the kind of minor bugs you'd expect from early access," the IGN review notes, "but it's a layered, clever, generally well-balanced RTS with strong faction diversity, and it feels more or less finished even in its current early access state."

Today, the beefy GPU has appeared for just $889 at Newegg, a healthy $110 reduction. That's a great price for the best high-end graphics card right now, especially for one that's made by the trusted folks at EVGA.

EVGA RTX 3080 update mining performance bios evgaNvidia's GeForce game-ready drivers carry with them a bevy of improvements to some of the most popular games and today's is no exception. Coming in at 662 MB, driver 512.59 will beef up the way rigs handle specific games. Specifically, the driver focuses on the newly-released Early Access title, Dune: Spice Wars, an RTS set in the Dune universe that's much like the classic game in the series from way-back-when. But that isn't all the driver does, of course. Irradiated shooter Chernobylite has gotten a ray-tracing upgrade on top of the already-existing DLSS implementation. Speaking of which, martial arts MMO JX3 just got DLSS itself. As for other inclusions, driver 512.59 has special optimizations for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt's Early Access debut, as well as briging G-Sync to three more monitors, including the ASUS ROG XG259CM, Samsung G95NA, and Galaxy VI-01. Four more games now allow use of Reflex Stats (which allows users to measure...
