Kotaku Friday, January 26, 2024 11:45 AM We know there's going to be a follow-up to the Switch. PCGamesN Friday, January 26, 2024 11:44 AM What are the best Marvel Snap decks? January is starting to come to a close, but this is an extra long season with five weeks in total, which means we've just received Grandmaster, the latest card to be added to Marvel Snap. He comes after Miek, Hercules, Skaar, and Caiera, and currently, opinions on him are divided. He doesn't feature in any of the best decks right now, largely because he's a "win more" card rather than something pivotal, but that could change in the future. The Marvel Snap meta is constantly changing but whether you're a well-travelled veteran well into series four or five, you're still unlocking some deck staples in series three, or you're still in the early days getting to grips with how all the cards interact with one another in one of the best card games on PC, we're here to help. PCGamesN Friday, January 26, 2024 11:22 AM What are the best indie games? The great indie boom triggered by digital distribution a decade ago turned out to be more of a Big Bang, firing small-team development into a plethora of directions that now defy simple categorisation. The sheer volume is intimidating, so we have plenty to choose from when compiling our list of the best indie games. Perhaps too much. But we should take stock, from time to time, to appreciate everything publisher-less development has given us. Some of the games listed below were built in a weekend by first-time coders, while others were crafted by former triple-A creators who've instilled their independent work with the same technical standards. They barely have anything in common but a healthy dose of idiosyncrasy and ideas that make Steam worth spelunking and make our list of the best PC games. PCGamesN Friday, January 26, 2024 11:07 AM How do you move your base in Palworld? Building up a base with new structures, populating it with workaholic little friends, and defending it from attacks is perhaps the most involved aspect of this gun-toting creature collector. Only your imagination (and how far along you are on the technology tree) limits how grand of a base you can build – but as you explore the creature infested islands, you'll likely want to move your base to a new, better location, especially as it also serves as a fast travel point. Interested in more about Palworld? We have a comprehensive list of all the adorable and ferocious Palworld Pals you can tame (or shoot, alarmingly enough) throughout your base-building adventure. And while not a graphically intensive game, you'll want to double check that your system can run it with our overview of the minimum and recommended Palworld system requirements. With that out of the way, read on to see how to move a Palworld base – and how to unlock more than one. PCGamesN Friday, January 26, 2024 10:57 AM Most perfectly encapsulated in Battlefield, and its incredible 'Levolution' events, destructible physics and smashable environments are things we've gotten used to in modern shooters. But there was a time when the idea of being able to obliterate, tear down, and totally change a level in an FPS, just by the sheer power of rockets and explosives, felt almost like fantasy. 2001 was a busy year for shooting and action games. Return to Castle Wolfenstein, one of the best to ever do it, arrived in November, Max Payne launched in December, and there was also a little game called Halo: Combat Evolved. This was stiff competition, so it's little wonder that one FPS - a forgotten classic that pioneered destruction physics - faded relatively quickly from memory. Created by Volition, eventually of the Saints Row series, this is one shooter that deserves a reappraisal, and it's yours for just over $2. Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, January 26, 2024 11:30 AM As part of my commitment to hating everything, I have a minor grudge against "idle" games. Because they're not, are they? You have to supervise them constantly, not relax and watch them grow organically while eating a sandwich and only occasionally intervening like a neglectful goddess. Writer's Rush is sort of, sort of an idle game, I'd argue. It's a low pressure, low stakes, super light sim that takes the barest hint of the clicker and crosses it with sort of-sort of-sort of score attack, and somehow works without quite feeling like either. Because, I think, of its charmingly, intentionally daft representation of what being a novelist is like. |

People who don't have one foot in the grave. It'll happen to you too. In the meantime, I hope you've enjoyed it, and suspect you might be keen to see more of the new playable character coming free in a future update. |

Rock Paper Shotgun Latest Articles Feed Friday, January 26, 2024 7:16 AM Now see here Ollie Toms, supposed guides editor of this supposed videogames website - if Enshrouded really does have "the best building system in the survival genre" then why does the floor of my hovel look like a petrified sneeze? I was innocently carving myself a nice stone foundation last night when the Devil jogged my elbow and I dug a massive, raggedy trench straight through it. I've spent an hour now trying to fill in the trench and flatten it out, to no avail. There's always a jaggedy bit right in the middle, and I'm getting displaced trypophobia from the awareness that my efforts have seeded the terrain beneath with random cavities. What's worse, there is no mention of enhancing the floor-levelling functionality in this Keen Games forum post on Enshrouded's various launch issues, which they are even now racing to fix. Instead, it's all talk of frame rates, multiplayer stability and dedicated servers not appearing. Somebody rush me a cement mixer, stat, or I'm moving back to Valheim. |

Bandai Namco published a new Customization Trailer for Synduality: Echo of Ada. It reveals that the upcoming mech shooter game will let players customize not only their Cradle Coffin mechs but also the AI companion Magus.
The trailer newly reveals a robust Magus customization menu that players will be able to access in the upcoming Synduality video game. The menu will first offer several default presets based on four personality choices. Players can then opt to manually adjust the Magus' body details, as well as the colors of their hair, eyes, skin, outfit, and any additional accessories.
Players will also be able to customize their Cradle Coffin mechs by assembling parts available for the Body, Arms, and Legs. They can also choose up to two weapons from the six available types: Shotgun, Submachine Gun, Assault Rifle, Light Machine Gun, Railgun, and Grenade Launcher.
The new trailer is available to watch via Bandai Namco's Japanese YouTube channel:
Bandai Namco had previously showcased a demo build of the Synduality game at Tokyo Game Show 2023. The PvPvE game will have players explore fields to collect materials from mining ores and slaying enemy Enders. The Magus will accompany them inside the Cradle Coffin unit during missions. They may also encounter other players, from which they can either form temporary alliances or even fight against each other.
The company has also been regularly holding additional hands-on trial events in Japan. On the same day the new trailer came out, Bandai Namco opened applications for the third trial event. It will invite a number of lucky people who are at least 17 years old, have followed the game's Japanese official Discord server, and currently residing in Japan to attend the event at an undisclosed location on February 18, 2024.
Synduality: Echo of Ada is under development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Bandai Namco has yet to announce a new release window for the third-person shooting game, which was originally slated to come out in 2023.

The Humble Store took to its social media account to note that it doesn't have any Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth PC keys for Steam. However, it does still allow people to add the game to a cart and buy it at the official site.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth launched on Steam for the PC on January 25, 2024. At 1pm ET on that day, support noted online that it doesn't have any codes and doesn't know when they will be available. It then updated close to 6pm ET to say there was no official update. It did note that people who placed pre-orders with the outlet will still get the pre-order bonus items from the store.
Here's the official announcement:
As a reminder, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is set in both Japan and Hawaii. People follow Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu as they deal with more Yakuza and underworld situations. (It is Yakuza 8, though Sega and RGG Studio moved away from the name.)
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and there's no word yet on when The Humble Store will have any Steam keys for the game.

Good Smile Company has revealed and opened pre-orders for its upcoming Pop Up Parade figure of Mai Shiranui. It will use her appearance in The King of Fighters 97 as the primary reference for this figure. The non-scale static figure will have an approximate height of 170mm (6.69in).
People who reside in the U.S. and Canada can order the figure on Good Smile Online Shop U.S. at $31.99. Those living elsewhere worldwide can instead place orders on the company's international web store at ¥4,800 / €33.90.
Some of the sample images for the figure are available to view right below:
The new Pop Up Parade of Mai Shiranui will be Good Smile Company's first King of Fighters character figure to be made after the previous batch in 2017. In that year, the company released Nendoroids of Mai and Kyo Kusanagi, as well as figmas of Kyo and Iori Yagami.
This figure will not be the only one to feature the KOF 97 version of Mai. In 2022, Tunshi Studio released a 1/6 scale seamless action figure based on the same version. However, Tunshi's action figure featured a realistic face, while the newer Pop Up Parade figure will have a more anime-esque facial design.
Good Smile Company will close pre-orders for the Pop Up Parade figure of Mai Shiranui from The King of Fighters 97 on February 22, 2024. It will formally release the figure in Japan in July 2024 and in North America in Q4 2024.

During the Honkai: Star Rail 2.0 special program, HoYoverse detailed some of the in-game events set to play out during the game's next update period. While the events have not received individual dates yet, they will all launch after the 2.0 update arrives on February 6, 2024.
The main event teased in the showcase was called Hanu's Prison Break. Taking place within a specific dreamscape bubble, players will take part in a prison break after a tyrranical warden bans Penacony's favorite drink: SoulGlad. This event will feature new minigames, including one that involves aligning pinball bumpers to create a path, as well as the puzzle-platforming Mirror Maze. There will also be a section where players transform into Hanu, which looks like it may involve some kind of stealth mechanics. On top of Self-modelling Resin, Tracks of Dreams, and Stellar Jades, it appears that players will be able to pick a four-star character to keep upon completing the event. The characters shown include Guinafen, Sampo, Asta and Yukong.
The other events include:

New to the world of Tekken, but curious on where to start with Tekken 8? Like I said in my review, it's pretty daunting walking into this game with little experience with the series. Even if you're decent at fighting games, this title is definitely a unique beast that will take some time to figure out. While I've still got a lot to learn, I do have eight tips to help you get a foothold in this complex game.
Start with Arcade Quest
Play through Arcade Quest at least a little bit. The Arcade Quest is a playful mode where you'll battle different CPU players across a variety of themed arcades. It's different from the regular Story Mode that throws you right into a deadly clash between some long-standing characters. This is much lighter fare where you'll have a few rounds against foes that won't go too hard on you.
While it's good that you have this so you can practice on an opponent that won't blow you up if you show a moment's weakness, this is mainly important because this is where the tutorials lie in Tekken 8. You'll learn some basic things about your Heat meter (a powerful move that puts you in a higher damage output state once per round) and Rage Arts (a powerful move you can use at low health), as well as your countering Power Crush moves. It'll even offer you some tips for whichever character you selected to get you started on some basic combos. It goes easy on you and gives you an explanation of the more basic skills to get you started.
As an added bonus, you get Fight Money for anything you do in this mode, which you can use to customize in-game avatars, your play screen, and most importantly, your character. It's always nice to feel like you're making some progress, even if it's just so you can dress Jin up in a silly outfit.
Get to know the Tekken 8 characters with Character Episodes
If you want a quick introduction to each character without making a lot of changes in Arcade Mode, I found that Character Episodes were a nice excuse to try out each of the characters for a short time in Tekken 8. You play a few matches (at a difficulty level of your choosing) to get a feel for each person, as well as get some of their story. I find that personality can be just as integral as moves and look for a character – Paul kinda grew on me when I realized what a goofball he was when I initially wasn't very impressed. So, hearing the stories helped get me interested in the characters, and all while I could try them out briefly in a few matches.
Watch your most impressive moves
While you're doing this, I recommend turning Special Style – a style which allows you to mash buttons to do cool combos – on and off every few fights. While you can do neat combos with it, they're fairly specific, so they'll only serve you for so long if you intend to improve and try fighting folks online. It's worth trying it out to get an idea which moves you can string together to make combos, though, and to also see if you like what the characters can do. Then, I recommend playing around with the characters' basic moves, as the basic kicks and punches do some of the most important work in winning matches in Tekken 8. You're going to want to see your basics and combos in action before you settle on a character. And you SHOULD only settle on one of two, as each of them have a lot of moves you'll likely need to know to do well.
While playing the characters, you should also try their Heat Smash (a strong strike that you can do while in Heat Mode) as well as their Rage Art. Not only are these good for tanking through some of the nasty stuff your opponent is doing (both shield you from a hit when activated, although you can't just pull them out while you're being combo-ed) and are another core part of the character's personality. A cool super is another part of why I love a character, so it's worth taking the time to see if you like these moves. Plus you'll just want to know how to use the moves to turn a match around. They're easy to execute as they only require a button press, so you'll want to put these in your arsenal fast.
Check your main techniques in Practice 8 in Tekken 8
That becomes immediately apparent when you look at a character's move list in the Practice Mode in Tekken 8, which you should hit up next. It's not the time to practice doing Korean backdashes or perfecting massive combos, though. You're just here to look through the move list, taking a peek at your main techniques. These will show you a lot of useful moves that will be good to get started with, as well as an explanation of what they do. These greatly streamline the character, although it's likely best to only really work on a handful of these. You just want to try out some things that feel good, that will let you poke at your enemy, and that can be used to clobber someone when they swing at you and miss.
I recommend activating Display While Training for the first move in the list and then just steadily going through all of the Main Techniques. You can watch demos and try them out one at a time, and by the end of it, you'll likely have a feel for what the character does or wants to do. You can dabble with All Techniques if you like, but that will get overwhelming fast. At most, you can likely only learn a move or two at a time, so don't feel any need to rush this. The mind can only work so much into your rotation. This will be a slow journey, so don't try to hurry it along too much. Just build your knowledge piece by piece.
Play dress up
Once you have a character you like and some knowledge of how they work, I recommend taking some time in Character Customization. I really like playing with goofy-looking characters, so I find customizing my character really gives me a sense of attachment to the character. Plus, it's here where you can dump some Fight Money into buying fun or cool customization options in Tekken 8. When you're losing matches, it can feel nice to still earn money to play around with, so this can give you a little morale boost if you have some bad losing streaks.
Adjust your mindset
Speaking of that, if you go online, accept that you will lose. A lot. You're learning the game. The best attitude I've found that helps this is to look at each fight as a series of interactions, and asking myself if I won or lost at the interaction instead of the match. If they took a big silly swing and missed, did I hit them back? That's an interaction I won. Did I pick the correct move to hit the other player at a distance where they didn't hit me back? Did I just block something that would have seen me eat a huge combo? It's all learning, and you're learning a ton of nuanced stuff, here. Try to give yourself credit for these small victories. If you build up enough of them, the match wins will come on their own.
Watch (and participate in) your Tekken 8 Replays
If you're not sure where you went wrong in an interaction, go to your Replays and check out the tips that Tekken 8 has to offer. The game offers some advice on what you could have done better, or other things you could have tried. Also, you can just hop into a Replay and take over for your character at any point. If you got smacked for making a mistake, resume the replay from that point and see if you could have done something differently. You can learn a ton from watching your replays (I love making the same mistake several times), and being able to dive right into them again to see what would have worked better is a massive help.
Engage with the Tekken community
These steps should give you a good place to start out if you want to start getting to know Tekken 8, but like any fighter, the real knowledge and excitement is going to come from the community. Be sure to check out the Reddit for Tekken, Discord channels, or see what players are doing on YouTube. Find out where people are talking about the game or characters you like and see what they're doing. A lot of skilled players will do things that may be beyond you, but you can usually see a few moves that go well together that you can add to your game plan. Plus, it's always inspiring to see other players do amazing things with your character.
With that, you should have a good starting point to begin your journey with Tekken 8! Good luck, and I'll see you in the ring! And I'll be looking RIDICULOUS. Count on it.
Tekken 8 is available now on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows PC.

New characters in Version 2.0 of Honkai: Star Rail will be Black Swan, Sparkle, and Misha. Black Swan will be a five-star Wind Nihility and Sparkle will be a five-star Quantum Harmony. Misha will be a four-star Destruction character. Black Swan and Sparkle will have Companion Missions to let you know them better.
New enemies you'll face off include Sam of the Stellaron Hunters and the Lordly Trashcan. The Lordly Trashcans are giant and buff trash cans who yearn to fight powerful opponents. They do not have any weaknesses by default. However, you can plant a weakness on it after attacking it. There will be new Relic Sets as well. Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters can deal more damage to enemies with debuffs. Watchmaker, Master of Dream Machinations can increase Break Effect.
Players will finally be able to set foot on Penacony in Version 2.0. The main story for Penacony will end in Version 2.3, and it will have a slightly more lighthearted vibe than the previous storylines. You can choose from several 4-star characters as a prize upon completing the event. There will also be the Dreamcatcher Bulletin event, which will help familiarize you with Penacony and give rewards. We're all here because it is that time again. HoYoVerse shared three Honkai: Star Rail Stellar Jade codes during the Special Program for the 2.0 update arriving in February 2024, so let's get them and claim them.
As the showcase aired, HoYoVerse took breaks to reveal three codes. Each one gives someone 100 Stellar Jades while used. They're good on January 26, 2024 early or until they run out, whichever comes first. You also get another kind of consumable with each use used. In total, we get 300 Stellar Jades out of this, which is enough for one 160 pull on the gacha. If you complete tasks or quests, you can get another 20 Stellar Jades to bring that up to two pulls.
Here are the Honkai: Star Rail Stellar Jade codes for Special Program 2.0
Claiming the three codes will net you in-game Credits, characters and Light Cone experience items, and the Stellar Jades. After redeeming them, they'll be in your in-game mailbox. You can then claim them to use them.
Here's the full list of three codes and what each one provides:
Console and PC players can redeem the codes in-game. Bring up the Traveler's phone, choose the profile button, and opt to redeem codes. If you're playing on a mobile device, head to the HoYoVerse website.
Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC and mobile devices, and the Stellar Jade codes for 2.0 can be used on January 26, 2024 or until the supply runs out. The 2.0 update arrives on February 6, 2024.

During the Version 2.0 special program of Honkai: Star Rail, HoYoVerse revealed some more information on the new characters who'll debut in this update. We previously learned that Black Swan, Sparkle, and Misha will be the new units, and Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae and Jing Yuan will return.
Black Swan will be a five-star Wind Nihility character who specializes in DoT. She is the first character from the Garden of Recollection faction. She can inflict the Arcana debuff on enemies, which can stack. It will deal damage over time, meaning her gameplay will focus on inflicting as many Arcana stacks as possible.
Sparkle will be a five-star Quantum Harmony character. She is a follower of Aha and she is a hedonist. Her Ultimate can restore Skill Points to the whole party. As well, she can let them deal more damage when they use Skill Points. The special program hinted that this kit will make her a very good support for Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae and Qingque, since both characters tend to eat through your SP.
Misha will be a four-star Ice Destruction character. He is the doorman of the Reverie Hotel, making him a native of Penacony. He fights using items like mop and suitcases. The more SP you use, the more damage he can deal. His Talent can also stop enemies in their tracks, making it easier for you to avoid contact or hit them.
Black Swan and Misha will be in the first phase, and Sparkle will be in the second. You'll also be able to pull for their signature Light Cones. Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae will also re-run in the first phase, whereas Jing Yuan will return in the second phase.
