Stellar Blade was a big deal when it launched on PlayStation 5 last year. A glossy mix of character action games like Devil May Cry 5, Bayonetta, or Nier Automata and soulslikes such as Elden Ring Nightreign or Sekiro, it's stood out for its solid combat design and detailed visual style. Though it's finally slated for a quickly approaching PC launch, excitement for this new version has been tempered by concerns over players needing to link the game with its publisher's PlayStation Network account system and the region locking that accompanies this choice. Now, along with the launch of its first PC demo, good news has come regarding these issues.

Knox Country is gigantic and every single building can be broken into and explored, but nevertheless, Project Zomboid feels painfully, anxiously claustrophobic. The streets may be wide, but they're packed with the undead. A house or a former school might have lots of rooms and supplies, but you can never see what's behind the next closed door, what's lurking around the corner. Co-created by a former Zomboid modder, upcoming survival game Dandelion Void takes the oppression of The Indie Stone's opus and amplifies it dozens of times over. Combined with its truly disgusting plant-life monsters, this is definitely one to watch.

Falling interest in the genre of mascot platformer Playtonic are best known for? Either way, the outcome is that a bunch of artists, game designers, narrative designers, producers and UI or UX people are now looking for work.

I have spun out on wet tarmac again and I am furious with myself. JDM: Japanese Drift Master requires a different mentality to most other racing games. Drifting around a corner is not the side gimmick that you'll do a few times during races. Drifting is the race. In this self-described "simcade" game, you've got to slide around the bendy roads of sunny (and rainy) Japan while delivering sushi and chasing boy racers for style points. It all adds up to some remarkably weighty speedfreakery that is bitingly frustrating when I'm bad at it, and rumblingly compelling when I'm good at it.

Elden Ring Nightreign might replace its source material's sprawling RPG exploration with a mad dash around tightly-nestled hotspots, but under the bonnet, this is still essentially just Elden Ring with a quicker sprint and character models of hitherto-unseen birdpeople. Even the system requirements are, save for a minor CPU bump, a copy and paste job, confirming the feathers aren't even that high-poly.

As a result, this spinoff runs equally well on the Steam Deck, even appearing to take advantage of the same SteamOS/Proton tweak that made Elden Ring less stutter-prone on Valve's handheld specifically. My Steam Deck settings guide for the base game works here too, though having been yanked around Limveld at greave-splintering speeds by loothounds Nic and Ollie, I actually think further quality cuts could be prudent. This is FromSoft at their paciest, and it makes sense to help framerates keep up.

8.3 Honkai Impact 3rd Update and Test Features Erdos Helia Battlesuit

HoYoVerse announced the first sign that the 8.3 update is on the way for Honkai Impact 3rd by announcing the beta test phase that introduces elements like the new Erdos Helia Planar Armament: Warped Spacetime Battlesuit. Applications are now open for all of us who play the game.

Gaining access to the test server for 8.3 works in the same way as previous ones offered for Honkai Impact 3rd. You need to be an active player, for one. This is because the only way to access the application is via the client. It'll show up as a news item under an announcement labeled "Recruiting v8.3 Tester." After clicking on that, you can fill out a form. HoYoVerse will then email anyone picked to participate in the beta.

While the official YouTube account hasn't shared any Honkai Impact 3rd footage of the Erdos Helia Battlesuit Planar Armament: Warped Spacetime, multiple videos appeared on the official Bilibili one. Some of these were story-based, while others looked more at gameplay. Given the past trends and release schedules, we'll likely start seeing English of those closer to the global launch of the 8.3 update.

This will mark the second Battlesuit available for the character. Erdos Helia debuted in Part 2. When she did, her Valkyrie Boltstorm unit appeared.

Honkai Impact 3rd is available for the PC and mobile devices, and the new story missions and Erdos Helia Planar Armament: Warped Spacetime Battlesuit will appear in 8.3 in the near future. 8.3 beta test recruitment is open until June 3, 2025.

Persona 3 Reload Makoto Yuki Nendoroid Is a Basic Figure

Good Smile Company shared the release windows for the new Persona 3 Reload Nendoroid of protagonist Makoto Yuki, and the Basic version of the figure will release later in 2025 in some regions. In Japan, we'll see it show up in September 2025. The worldwide release is set for Q1 2026

As this is a Nendoroid Basic figure, it won't be as robust or expensive as others in the line. It'll be ¥3,900/$26.99. His facial expression is a stoic, neutral one. He also hold his base one-handed sword in his right hand.

Here are two photos Good Smile Company shared with us that highlight how the figure will look:

This isn't the first Persona 3 Nendoroid, as the original figure based on Makoto's appearance in the PS2 game debuted in 2022. Since that is a more traditional model, it included extra face plates, hand parts, and accessories. It only showed up once worldwide, and there's been no rerun since its debut.

While this is a Persona 3 Reload model, it isn't too dissimilar from the original Persona 3 version. The hairstyle and facial expression are identical to the 2022 release, and the uniform seems almost exactly the same. The weapon is different, however, as the one-handed sword for this figure is an all-silver one that resembles Makoto's starting weapon and the one with the original figure was a more traditional sword with gold hilt.

The Persona 3 Reload Nendoroid Basic figure of the protagonist Makoto Yuki will appear in Japan in September 2025. It will appear later worldwide in Q1 2026. Pre-orders for it will close on June 25, 2025. Persona 3 Reload is available worldwide on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the original game first debuted on the PS2.

New Umamusume Trailers Show Mejiro McQueen, Anime Expo 2025 Details

Cygames released a number of new trailers for the English release of Umamusume, with one of them going over the notable unit Mejiro McQueen and the other highlighting what we can expect from the Anime Expo 2025 appearance of the title. There are four new unit trailers to watch total, and all of them should be in-game when it launches worldwide at the end of June 2026.

First, the Anime Expo 2025 Umamusume reveal video featured Silence Shizuka and Oguri Cap voice actresses Marika Kohno and Tomoyo Takayanagi in-costume discussing what we'll see at the convention. Umamusume: Pretty Derby - Beginning of a New Era, the 2024 movie, will be shown in Panel Room 403AB at 1:45pm PT on July 6, 2025. As for the new Umamusume character trailers, they featured Grass Wonder, King Halo, Mejiro McQueen, and Mejiro Ryan. Grass Wonder is the star of the thirteenth trailer. She's voiced by Rena Maeda. She is a part of Team Rigil alongside units like El Condor Pasa and Taiki Shuttle.

King Halo's trailer showed up after that. Iori Saeki plays that heroine. She's not associated with any team.

As for Mejiro McQueen, she's considered one of the better characters to use in Umamusume even after all this time. She's also prominently featured in the game and anime adaptation. She's played y Saori Onishi. While her team affiliation varies based on what you're playing or watching, she's on Team Sirius in the game. Oguri Cap used to be on that team, and characters like Narito Brian and Rice Shower are on it with her.

Finally, the most recent trailer goes over Mejiro Ryan. Yes, she is related to Mejiro McQueen. She isn't associated with any particular team. Afumi Hashi voices her.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time Delayed Again See the Fantasy Life i Switch 2 Changes

At the end of May 2025, Level-5 confirmed that the Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time upgrade update would be available for the Switch 2 at launch and teased its changes. It noted it would look and run better, basically. Now the company further explained the difference with two more detailed videos that compare Switch and Switch 2 gameplay.

In each case, there are split-screen videos on YouTube that directly compare the same instances in the Switch 2 version of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time to show the changes between the two. Each one is rather brief and designed to give a quick glimpse of the changes in action. The shorter of the two is the Graphics Showcase. That only lists 15 seconds. In both, a player's avatar is using the Woodcutter role to chop down one of the bosses for that job in the field. In the case of the Switch 2 version, the textures for the environment are clearer and we can more clearly see the character's facial features and clothing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCjdhIzm6oI&ab_channel=LEVEL5ch%E3%80%90%E5%85%AC%E5%BC%8F%E3%80%91

The one comparing the load times in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time on both Nintendo platforms is a bit longer. That comes in at 40 seconds. This is because it is showing the time it takes to start the game from the main menu and to go between the Guild Hall in the Present to Ginormosia. It takes 6:19 seconds to load the game on the Switch 2 after starting and 12:12 to do so on the Switch. In the case of heading to Ginormosia with the teleportation gate, it takes 9:39 seconds on the Switch 2 and 17:06 seconds on the Switch. So in each case, the time is almost double on the older console.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-OI8L3RaKI&ab_channel=LEVEL5ch%E3%80%90%E5%85%AC%E5%BC%8F%E3%80%91

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is available now on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Switch 2 version and upgrade update file will launch on June 5, 2025.

Honkai: Star Rail Dr Ratio Nendoroid Coming First to China

Good Smile Company and miHoYo announced the release of a new Nendoroid figure of Dr Ratio from Honkai: Star Rail. The figure costs 349 yuan (or about $48.44), and it is expected to release first in China on December 2025. At the moment, there is no information regarding a release date for other regions, though past ones like Aventurine and March 7th appeared worldwide.

The Dr Ratio Nendoroid figure is approximately 100mm (or about 3,94 inches) tall and is articulated. The figure comes with three different faces plates, as is common with Nendoroids. These will be a standard smiling face, a thinking face, and a closed-eyes face plate. In addition to the faces, the figure comes with 4 other parts, including his signature Book of Truth, a rubber duck, a pistol, and a bathtub. The bathtub pose appears on a Light Cone in-game.

Furthermore, a special acrylic stand will be added with the Chinese release. It's still unclear if the stand or a different bonus will be included once the global release of the figure is announced.

You can check out the figure in more detail, alongside its optional parts, here:

As a reminder, the Honkai: Star Rail Nendoroids figures of Robin and Sunday are expected to release on August 2025, and an Aventurine Nendoroid was recently announced and it will be coming out in Japan on February 2026 and in North America sometime in Q3 2026.

The Honkai: Star Rail Nendoroid figure of Dr Ratio costs 349 yuan (~$48.44) and will release in China on December 2025. Honkai: Star Rail is readily available for the PS5, PC, Android, and iOS devices.

Preview: Chronomon Blends Pokemon and Farming Life Sims

I enjoy seeing what independent developers can achieve with smaller projects. There might be unusual takes on genres or experimentations with genres and ideas. Chronomon is one of these types of titles, as Stone Golem Studios is attempting to fuse popular genres such as Pokemon style creature capturing and Stardew Valley sorts of farming. It's still early days, and of course there's clunkiness in such small things, but the idea seems like a promising one.

Chronomon begins with our avatars awaking in a bunker. Someone else living there, named Kyral, lets you know that some creatures ended up being successfully trapped last night. After choosing a "starter" and using a CIM card to get its data, the worst happens. Members of the Epoch Syndicate show up and force a retreat. Worse, since they might breach the underground base, Kyral helps you escape, as well as learn how to use a Chronomon to flip switches to escape. Fortunately, a farm has been prepared. It's dilapidated and in need of repairs, but we have a chance to regroup, establish ourselves, make connections with villages, and perhaps start to rebuild and fight back. Granted, since this is early access, we don't have all of that yet, but we can make a start.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1893iLup-nA&ab_channel=StoneGolemStudios

I really like the initial approach in Chronomon, and it does feel like a mix of Pokemon monster-raising JRPGsand Stardew Valley style life sims in a way that similar sorts of games like Moonstone Island doesn't. There's a very dark atmosphere that fits the dystopian tone, yet also a sense of hope since we are fighting back and connecting with other people and a village. The feedback look is pretty strong at the moment, especially with farming, though I do think improved controls will help that in time. It also pulls from games like Marvelous' Rune Factory in that every type of action you're undertaking shapes your character and progress, so it feels like choosing to farm, fish, or battle with monsters each carries weight. Farming comes down to clearing land, tilling soil, planting crops, and waiting to harvest. Monster battling and catching entails heading out into the world and going through turn-based fights.

As an early access title, I did notice some elements of Chronomon do feel like they need a bit of touching up. The thing that initially bothered me most, so much so that I ended up restarting, is during the first selection of your monster ally, the execution, controls, and menu meant that I selected a character I didn't want when I was just attempting to check the stats. Said control issues are currently a problem throughout my sessions, as I went through it on a Legion Go and couldn't try and go with a mix of switching to keyboard and mouse if I found things weren't ideal. This is compounded by, at the moment, the UI being a bit cumbersome. Considering how heavy of a focus crafting and character management is, I wish it was a bit clearer and easier to parse. However, keep in mind this is a game isn't even one month into early access as I write this and, on May 13, 2025, Stone Golem Studios created a Steam Discussions thread specifically looking to address the controls issue.

Another early issue has to do with balance in Chronomon. Which, again, I think we will see addressed over the coming weeks and months. At the moment, I feel like the goal is to really make this feel like a post-apocalyptic adventure with odds stacked against you. It takes a while for your creatures to level up, even when they're under level 5 or 10. Enemy creatures can be incredibly strong. If you die, you're both losing items in your inventory and money. I found it quite daunting, especially in the first three hours I played. I'm not sure if the answer is implementing some difficulty options or eventual balancing patches or adding items that adjust earned experience and influence stats. But again, it's early on and things could change.

I do think the one thing I'd like most from Chronomon is something that we might not see happen over the course of development. The game and its concept possess a really strong identity, and you can see that from the outset. Stone Golem Studios seems like it has a really strong idea of what it wants to do, the story it is going to tell, and an approach to pairing farming and a life sim with monster catching and battling. However, I feel like sometimes it visually doesn't always match that. I wish the character designs for the monsters, NPCs, and our avatars stood out a bit more. Especially since there will be a relationship element with friendship systems. I'd love to see the major NPCs look more unique and some of the Chronomon stand out more as development continues. I even feel like this ties into the UI issue I mentioned earlier. Some adjustments to define the game's visual identity so it leaves the same sort of impression as the gameplay concepts would be great.

Chronomon could be an indie to keep an eye on. The concept behind pairing a Pokemon like with Stardew Valley is sound. The initial loop is encouraging, and it seems like Stone Golem Studios is trying to use the idea of a post-apocalyptic world to explain its gameplay and narrative in a cohesive way. There are some minor issues at the moment, and I would love to see more defined character and UI designs to help it stand out. However, you have to expect that from an Early Access title. It might be worth watching in the weeks and months to come.

Elden Ring Nightreign hawk flying

Elden Ring. Ooohhh, Elden Ring. It's back with Nightreign, a multiplayer spin-off of the FromSoftware classic, which is both a blessing and a curse.

Elden Ring: Nightreign is a blessing because it spins the roguelike genre with FromSoftware flavoring and allows you to play Elden Ring with friends, but a curse because you need functional online servers to play it properly. This is a common occurrence in online games, and Nightreign is susceptible to these same ills.

Here are a few things to try if you're having issues with Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking.

How to fix Elden Ring Nightreign matchmaking not working

Field Boss in Elden Ring Nightrein
Image via Bandai Namco

Restart your game

A common fix for Elden Ring Nightreign's matchmaking being wonky is to fully restart the game. This sometimes reboots the title into triggering the multiplayer servers and getting the game back online. And as always, double check your internet connection to make sure the problem isn't on your end before trying to queue again.

This has happened to me multiple times where I would try over and over again to select LOG IN for multiplayer, but the issue would not go away until I fully closed and restarted the game again.

Make sure you're queued for multiplayer

Elden Ring Nightreign Network Settings menu
Screenshot by Destructoid

In the game, make sure you have multiplayer and not singleplayer selected. Also, go to the Settings menu, then Network, and for Launch Setting, make sure Play Online is selected. Turning on Perform Matchmaking under Cross-Region play will also help with matchmaking times.

Check Elden Ring server status

Elden Ring Nightreign servers may be having issues if you can't play multiplayer. Websites like DownDetector can sometimes track reports of server problems, but Nightreign doesn't have a page set up for it just yet, so options are limited to following accounts like @ELDENRING or @BandaiNamcoUS for more info. Bandai Namco's support page is another option.

Play a solo run

Roundtable Hold Raider Matchmaking Settings screen in Elden Ring Nightreign
Screenshot by Destructoid

If the servers are struggling, you still have the option to play the game solo. In Roundtable Hold, select Commence Expedition, then tab over to Matchmaking Settings. At the bottom of the menu, under Expedition Type, select Single Player. When this is selected, you will set out on an expedition on your own without needing to matchmake.

Wait it out

Unfortunately, sometimes the best solution for matchmaking errors is to come back and try after a few hours, or until an update has been deployed. Server issues in online games are a plague but they still happen in 2025 and there's sometimes not much we can do about it besides touch some grass.

BO6 Warzone season 4 jail break

It's been a less-than-happy first 24 hours for Call of Duty's season four, with a myriad of issues plaguing the game and frustrating players since it launched.

Season four of Black Ops 6 and Warzone added a number of new weapons, maps, and features like Grief mode in Zombies and a new POI in Verdansk, but several different problems with the season's update has had Activision and its teams scrambling to fix the game as quickly as it can.

And now this morning, the server issues have gotten so bad that players have been struggling to even get into matches in both BO6 and Warzone, further souring the experience for those who are still trying to enjoy this year's CoD offerings before the next one drops in the fall.

Activision's @CODUpdates account posted this morning that it's "investigating an issue that is causing players to disconnect from matches," which is rightfully so a priority among a sea of other bugs that have popped up with the new season.

But that's just the latest in a number of official announcements from the company about season four's problems. Ranked Play in Warzone has been delayed indefinitely while the company works on "bringing the experience back to it's intended fidelity," for starters.

Other notable problems include an issue with fast-travel mechanics in Zombies, a bug that caused the team to disable the "Motherclucker" blueprint for the ASG-89 shotgun, and some horrendous lag spikes in Warzone's team deathmatch-like Clash mode.

According to in-game countdown timers, this season will last until the first week of August, meaning the next big content drop in CoD may be far away. And until then, we may even catch our first glimpse of 2025's CoD title (rumored to be another Black Ops game), and that's likely not a moment too soon for those struggling to play right now.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Sweet Samaritan duty

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Parks Fest event features five new cupcake recipes, several cosmetic and furniture additions, and a few quests to spice things up. You'll also find several new village duties, with Sweet Samaritan being one you can finish within a day or two with enough time and dedication.

Sweet Samaritan duty guide in Disney Dreamlight Valley Parks Fest

Completing the Sweet Samaritan duty during the Dreamlight Parks Fest event requires baking and gifting 50 cupcakes. Below are the five cupcake types that count toward this duty:

  • Mermaid Cupcake
  • Minnie Cupcake
  • Princess Aurora Raspberry Cupcake
  • Spaceship Earth Cupcake
  • Stitch Cupcake

However, baking them is only half of the battle. Once you make all 50 cupcakes, you'll have to gift each to various Dreamlight Valley villagers. Doing this fulfils the Sweet Samaritan duty, allowing you to claim the Magic Kingdom Map wall banner. To get your prize, head back into your Dreamlight duties menu, pick the Village subcategory, and select the Sweet Samaritan duty.

Although it doesn't matter which of these five cupcakes you make for the Sweet Samaritan duty, your best bet is to complete your Dreamlight Parks Fest event's daily quests. Each day, you'll receive a quest from one of five villagers asking you to bake cupcakes and gift them to others. Below are the five characters that can give you this task:

  • Mickey Mouse
  • Moana
  • Scrooge McDuck
  • Ursula
  • WALL-E

Completing a daily mission rewards you with 20 green buttons, bringing you one step closer to finishing the Sweet Samaritan duty. From here, you can either wait until the next day to complete more quests or make 45 more cupcakes before gifting them.

All Sweet Samaritan cupcake recipes in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Although most cupcakes follow a similar recipe, each has a secret ingredient that sets it apart from the others. Here's a complete list of every cupcake recipe eligible for Disney Dreamlight Valley's Sweet Samaritan duty:

Recipe Ingredients
Mermaid Cupcake Butter
Milk
Sugarcane
Wheat
Scallop
Minnie Cupcake Butter

Princess Aurora Raspberry Cupcake Butter

Raspberry
Spaceship Earth Cupcake Butter

Coconut
Stitch Cupcake Butter

As you'll quickly notice, every recipe includes butter, milk, wheat, and sugarcane. You can purchase butter and milk from the Chez Remy kitchen's shop for 190 and 230 Star Coins, respectively. Wheat and sugarcane are available from Peaceful Meadow and Dazzle Beach through Goofy's stall.

Your main challenge is obtaining the fifth ingredient for each recipe. Here are the spawn locations for all five items:

  • Scallop: Dazzle Beach
  • Apple: Plaza, Peaceful Meadow, Forgotten Lands
  • Raspberry: Plaza, Peaceful Meadow
  • Coconut: Dazzle Beach
  • Blueberry: Dazzle Beach, Forest of Valor

All five ingredients are available from Disney Dreamlight Valley's first three biomes, making them easy to obtain, even for newer players. If you already have some on hand, head to any stovetop or Chez Remy's restaurant to cook up your cupcake dishes and gift them to your villagers.

Dagger shooting a dagger while standing with the avatar of krakoa in marvel rivals

There are many vague achievements you need to figure out how to complete in Marvel Rivals. One of these tasks is Arrako Goes Analog, and you're not given all the information you need to finish it, so getting it done can be tricky.

If you want to earn all of the available achievement rewards, getting this one done is essential. There's a bit of luck involved with this task, but it's still much easier to complete once you know everything it entails, so here's how to complete Arrako Goes Analog in Marvel Rivals.

How to get Arrako Goes Analog achievement in Marvel Rivals

You can complete the Arrako Goes Analog achievement by purging Ultron's virus on the Arakko map. This is achieved by escorting the Avatar of Krako across the entire map, which can only be done when you're on the side that's pushing the convoy.

To tackle this feat, you need to be on Arrakko in Quick Match or Competitive. You can't complete this one in any other mode, so make sure you choose one of these two to get it done.

How to purge Ultron's virus in Arakko in Marvel Rivals

To purge Ultron's virus in Arakko, you need to bring the Avatar of Krakoa convoy all the way to the end of the map and win the round. The Avatar of Krako can only purge Ultron's virus if your team is the one getting them where they need to go. This means you need to be on the side that's escorting the convoy rather than trying to stop it.

There's no way to choose which side you get, so there's a bit of luck involved with this one. You'll know you're on the right side if you see the "Help Krakoa and Arrako to become Okkara" and "Escort the Avatar of Krakoa to the Great Ring" messages near the top left corner of the screen.

For the start of season 2.5, you can load into the Quick Match (Arrako) mode to make this task easier. It's still random whether you end up on the right side, but your odds are a lot better with this option.

The ability to specifically choose this map won't always be available, though, so if you don't get it done early on in 2.5, you'll have to hope luck is on your side and that it's randomly selected as the map you're playing on. It's unknown exactly how long the ability to select Arrako will be available for, so be sure to do it as soon as you can to make finishing this achievement as easy as possible.

When you see the victory screen with the Avatar of Krakoa growing greenery on an Ultron machine, you've successfully completed this task. It might take a few tries to get it done if you don't manage to make it all the way to the end on your first attempt.

There are plenty of other achievements you need to get done, so next, you might consider working on Mutant and Proud! and Whispers in Pieces if you're looking to get some other ones done.

Elden Ring Duchess hooded

The night is dark and full of gamers. Elden Ring: Nightreign has already hit two million sales on its first day, but one facet of the game is so difficult it already is getting nerfed.

While From Software's latest Soulslike game is built for co-op play with friends, Nightreign also has a solo mode that's so punishing that the developer has already confirmed multiple changes to make it easier in an update next week.

Elden Ring Nightreign 2 million sold on day 1
Image via Bandai Namco

Since the game is built around co-op play for three players, the scaling for solo play is definitely a bit harsh. And so FromSoftware announced today that it will be buffing the amount of Runes gained in solo play to help even the playing field, while also allowing for one automatic revival upon death to keep players in the fight.

This is definitely a welcome change, considering that the game lacks crossplay, support for duos, and has scarce communication mechanics in-game including no voice chat support. This change to solo play should hopefully encourage more players to try the game out or at least give those who have bought it already some reason to go it alone while waiting for friends.

In my review period with the game, I barely touched solo play because it did not feel very fair. The Night Lord bosses, especially, feel like they're built for multiple players as opposed to just one where it may feel oppressive. Soulslike veterans may have an easier time with it, but the masses most likely need these nerfs.

In our review of Elden Ring: Nightreign, I called it a Soulslike with "seamless co-op, combined with the roguelike elements of games like Hades, with some of the urgency of battle royale games sprinkled in," making for a fun yet flawed experience. It's out now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Disney Dreamlight Valley button-maker duty

The main goal of Disney Dreamlight Valley's Parks Fest event is for you to decorate your village with cheerful theme park decorations after collecting buttons and crafting decorative popcorn buckets. While most buttons are available through foraging and fishing, one particular type links to a crafting recipe.

Crafting these buttons serves multiple purposes, from allowing you to craft popcorn buckets to advancing you through the event's Button-Maker duty. Here's exactly how to complete Disney Dreamlight Valley's Button-Maker objective during the Dreamlight Parks Fest event.

Button-Maker duty guide in Disney Dreamlight Valley Parks Fest

Completing the Button-Maker duty during the Dreamlight Parks Fest event requires creating 20 purple buttons in your crafting table using blue and red buttons. Below are the exact crafting materials for one purple button:

  • Blue Button (1)
  • Red Button (2)
  • Dreamlight (100)

Disney Dreamlight Valley purple button crafting menu
Screenshot by Destructoid

In other words, you'll need 20 blue buttons, 40 red ones, and 2,000 Dreamlight for all 20 purple buttons. Once you have these required items, head into your crafting table and scroll through the Functional Items category until you find the purple button option. Whether you craft them gradually or create all 20 at once is up to you.

Once you have made all 20 purple buttons, go back to your Dreamlight duties menu and find the task to claim your cosmetic reward. You'll obtain a Retro Magic Kingdom Map as your prize, which you can use anywhere within your village house.

How to easily find red and blue buttons

Usually, the most challenging part of making purple buttons is getting enough blue and red buttons. Red buttons spawn on the ground outside villager houses, while blue buttons are a potential fishing drop. However, there's a way to make this process easier if you participated in the 2024 version of Dreamlight Parks Fest.

If you took part in the original Dreamlight Parks Fest event and have progressed far enough into Disney Dreamlight Valley's storyline, you'll eventually unlock the Cheshire Cat as a villager. One of his friendship quests unlocks a machine called the Uncrafting Station, letting you break down furniture items and receive their raw materials. You can toss popcorn buckets into here, letting you claim all your buttons and either recraft the buckets or use your excess blue and red buttons to make purple ones.

If you weren't available to participate in Dreamlight Parks Fest 2024 or didn't craft every popcorn bucket, you'll have to find red and blue buttons manually. With red buttons, your best bet is to watch the ground as you run around your village in case some randomly spawn around, especially since they can appear in any biome. If you're hunting for blue buttons, focus on white fishing circles, as these are the only types that spawn them.

Once you have at least 20 blue buttons and 40 red ones, head into any crafting station to make your purple buttons, letting you complete Button-Maker and claim your prize.

Popcorn Enthusiast duty Disney Dreamlight Valley

In Disney Dreamlight Valley, from May 28 until June 17, you can participate in the ongoing Dreamlight Parks Fest event and craft exclusive furniture. During this time, you can complete several Dreamlight duties to unlock additional items, with the Popcorn Enthusiast duty being, by far, the most challenging to finish.

Popcorn Enthusiast duty guide in Disney Dreamlight Valley Parks Fest

Completing the Popcorn Enthusiast duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley requires crafting and placing five popcorn buckets added throughout both versions of the Dreamlight Parks Fest event. The event, which runs from May 28 to June 17, introduces five button types that you'll use to craft each bucket, allowing you to decorate your village and claim your quest reward.

Of the seven popcorn bucket types available in the 2025 Dreamlight Parks Fest event, you only need to craft five to complete this task. Here's a quick list of all seven popcorn bucket options you can make for the Popcorn Enthusiast duty:

  • Cinderella Popcorn Bucket
  • Stitch Popcorn Bucket
  • Figment Popcorn Bucket
  • Pooh's Popcorn Bucket
  • Metallic Mickey Popcorn Bucket
  • Dug Popcorn Bucket
  • Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket

You don't have to wait until you unlock the Dug and Mine Cart Popcorn Buckets to finish this task. Instead, you're free to make the five original buckets introduced during the 2024 Dreamlight Parks Fest event before completing Scrooge McDuck and Mirabel's special quests and receiving these bucket recipes.

To make each popcorn bucket, you'll have to travel around Dreamlight Valley and search for buttons. You'll obtain these buttons by fishing, completing daily quests, and foraging. While you can farm some for an indefinite time, others, such as green, flower, and red buttons, are limited by daily quests and spawn rates, making it impossible to complete in one day.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Uncrafting Station with a popcorn bucket inside

If you participated in this event previously, you can redo the task by using the Cheshire Cat's Uncrafting Station. That way, you can break down each bucket, retrieve your buttons, and recraft them to complete the event's village tasks. The only exception to this is the Dug and Mine Cart Popcorn Buckets, as they weren't available during last year's event.

All Dreamlight Parks Fest Popcorn Bucket recipes

Below is a list of every popcorn bucket introduced during the Dreamlight Parks Fest event alongside their crafting requirements:

Popcorn Bucket Ingredients
Cinderella Popcorn Bucket Green Button (40)
Purple Button (5)
Blue Button (15)
Red Button (10)
Stitch Popcorn Bucket Green Button (40)
Blue Button (15)
Flower Button (20)
Purple Button (5)
Figment Popcorn Bucket Green Button (40)
Flower Button (20)
Purple Button (5)
Red Button (10)
Pooh's Popcorn Bucket Green Button (40)
Flower Button (20)
Red Button (10)
Blue Button (15)
Metallic Mickey Popcorn Bucket Green Button (40)
Blue Button (15)
Purple Button (5)
Flower Button (20)
Dug Popcorn Bucket Green Button (40)
Blue Button (15)
Purple Button (5)
Flower Button (20)
Mine Cart Popcorn Bucket Green Button (40)
Blue Button (15)
Purple Button (5)
Red Button (10)

In other words, you'll need the following buttons to make all five popcorn buckets:

  • Green Button - 280
  • Purple Button - 30
  • Flower Button - 100
  • Blue Button - 120 (90 for recipes, 30 for purple buttons)
  • Red Button - 100 (40 for recipes, 60 for purple buttons)

That's a lot of buttons. While some, like blue and flower buttons, are readily available through fishing and flower collecting, the others require days of questing, foraging, and crafting, making this task much more challenging than Sweet Samaritan and Button-Maker. Fortunately, making all five popcorn buckets allows you to finish the Button-Maker task simultaneously, quickly knocking out two of the three event duties.

Duchess in Elden Ring Nightreign

I think this might be the easiest "What are you Playing" stories I have ever written for Destructoid, and that's saying something because I've only been doing them for the past three weeks now.

Hey Destructoid, how are we doing? Welcome to that segment every week where I talk on for a few minutes about games and then ask you the same old question that's blatantly in the title. Today, we are going to talk about plans for the last weekend of May, but I already have a feeling what a lot of you have planned to play this weekend.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylaXlj14VpQ

Elden Ring Nightreign is out and thousands of players are fighting against the various Night Lords as we speak and I imagine a lot of you are gearing up for a good weekend of playing with friends as you look to unlock everything the game has to offer and hopefully have a good few successful runs under your belt by the time we talk about next week's big releases.

Really, though, there isn't that much else I can think to play this weekend myself. I'm kind of trying to find something to tick time away as next week, a lot of us will finally (and hopefully) get our hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 and have a bucketload of games to play, so I think if there was anytime to try and get through some backlog games you might have—this weekend is the time to do it.

There is also the REMATCH Beta test happening this weekend, and a few other Steam Next Fest demos I really want to try out before they go, like Escape from Duckov. But I haven't really been keeping track of things coming up as been preparing for Switch 2 launch and Summer Games Fest next weekend instead.

So let me know in the comments below if you think I should give another game a look, and what your plans are this weekend, Destructoid!

Dagger dancing by the Robot Wailing Wall for the Whispers in Pieces achievement in Marvel Rivals

There are many unique achievements you can tackle in Marvel Rivals, all of which help you unlock new rewards. Many of these tasks don't give you all the information you need to get them done, which makes completing them a bit tricky, as is the case with Whispers in Pieces.

This task can seem daunting if you're unsure where you need to go and what you need to do, but it's a fairly easy one to knock out once you have all of the information you need. If you're looking to get this one done, here's how to complete Whispers in Pieces in Marvel Rivals.

How to get Whispers in Pieces achievement in Marvel Rivals

To complete the Whispers in Pieces achievement, you need to destroy at least one robot hanging from the Robot Wailing Wall on the Arakko map. It's a fairly tricky task to get done since you have to be on the right map, locate the correct area, and get it done while also trying to help your team win.

Make sure you're playing in Quick Play or Competitive to get this task done. Achievements don't track in other modes like Practice VS. AI, so you need to play a real round to complete it. If you don't want to waste time trying to find it in an actual round, you can load into Practice VS. AI or create a Custom Game to scout the map ahead of time, then load into an official match to head there straight away.

Shatter one robot on the Robot Wailing Wall in Arakko in Marvel Rivals

There are a few steps to this process, so here's a full breakdown of everything you need to do to shatter one robot on the Robot Wailing Wall for the Whispers in Pieces achievement.

  • Visit Arakko. You can only complete this achievement while playing on this map.
  • Find the Robot Wailing Wall. It's a tunnel lit with red light and covered with various robots strung up on the walls. It's right past the second checkpoint on the map.
  • Attack any robot. Use any attack you like to destroy at least one robot hanging from the walls around this location.
  • Complete the match. If you leave early, your progress for this achievement might not be properly counted, so fully complete the round to ensure you get it done.

Robot Wailing Wall location in Marvel Rivals

The Robot Wailing Wall is a tunnel that can be found right past the second checkpoint on the Arakko map. From the attacking side of the map, you can follow the path of the Avatar of Krakoa to find the right spot. It takes a bit, but you'll eventually get there.

From the defending side, you can find it a lot more quickly by exiting the spawn point and heading right. Don't destroy a robot until the match timer starts, or it won't count for this task.

With this task out of the way, you can get to work learning about all of Ultron's abilities so you can master his skillset. If you're looking for more achievements to get done, consider completing Mutant and Proud! next.

Holding the Stitch Popcorn Bucket by Buttons for Parks Fest in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The 2025 installment of Disney Dreamlight Valley's Parks Fest event began on May 28, and although it's only been around for about two days, I can't wait for it to be over. It was already one of my least favorite events, and it's somehow even more annoying this year.

The tedious, repetitive, and frustrating nature of this event feels even worse with the addition of several new time-gated quests. There's so much to do, and none of it seems fun, so after barely starting, I'm not even sure I want to participate any further.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Dug and Mine Cart buckets
Image via Gameloft

The 2025 installment of Dreamlight Parks Fest includes a collection of fresh scavenger hunt quests with Scrooge McDuck and Mirabel. Completing these quests is the only way to tackle the Squirrel! and Mine Time! duties so you can get your hands on the shiny new Dug and Mine Cart Popcorn Buckets.

Just like all other Popcorn Buckets from the past run of this event, these ones are incredibly costly to craft, but they're even more of a nuisance to make since you have to complete several quests before you can even unlock the recipe for them. Scrooge McDuck's quests ask you to mine specific Gems around the village, which is a tricky task since it's mostly luck-based whether or not you get what you're after.

As bad as Scrooge McDuck's quests are, Mirabel's are a whole lot worse. All of her scavenger hunt quests involve tracking down critters around the valley. Since each critter has a unique schedule and is only available on certain days and times, you can't properly progress until you find all of them. The very first one of her quests requires the elusive White Squirrel, so we're all just waiting until Sunday for this creature to show up. If you miss the limited window for this critter or other ones in her quests afterward, you're then stuck for a full week, which just seems ridiculous.

Player dressed as a bee holding Pooh's Popcorn Bucket for the Oh, Bother duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

These quests would be overly complex no matter what, but they seem especially silly considering the rewards are just two measly Popcorn Buckets. This is the main prize you get for all Dreamlight Parks Fest event duties, and sure, they're cool, but they just don't seem worth the hassle.

Because you also have to spend time farming Buttons by fishing, foraging, crafting, and cooking, the Parks Fest event is feeling more like a monotonous bore than an exciting festive experience. It's honestly a bit overwhelming, and I don't think I'm invested enough in some Popcorn Buckets to pour hours into trying to get it done. There's also the pressure of it being a timed event with only a short period when these tasks can be done. If it were longer, I might be a bit more open to it, but as it stands, I'll probably be avoiding most of the event.

I'm surprising even myself with this choice as I've been an avid collector of most items in DDV so far. I've participated in every single event since the game first launched, but this is the one I just can't get behind.

Crafting Figment Popcorn Bucket in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Screenshot by Destructoid

Last year, I did a bit of the event, but even when there was a bit less to do, I couldn't bring myself to push through the whole thing. The furniture versions of the Popcorn Buckets aren't necessities to me, but the added handheld variants in the 2025 release are a lot more appealing.

Instead of gathering the materials to make each one, though, I used the Uncrafting Station to complete the specific duties that unlock them, since they don't disappear when you unmake them. Kind of a sneaky move, I know, but if it means I don't have to spend hours fishing in the hopes of catching just a few Blue Buttons, I'll take it.

Truthfully, most events we get in DDV are kind of a lot to deal with, except for Star Paths, which I always enjoy. I think the event system overall could do with an overhaul, but considering most of them follow a fairly similar format with some of the same gameplay elements, it doesn't seem likely we'll get one. I can handle the rest, but I'm over Parks Fest for good and not looking forward to seeing it unfold or witnessing its likely return each year.

Gladius in Elden Ring Nightreign

The character customization (or class) of Elden Ring Nightreign is slightly different from the older system (from Elden Ring), as it's now tied with skins that you can unlock inside the game.

You and your friends will no longer have to focus entirely on armor, as every "Nightfarer" class has its defensive stats. That doesn't mean your characters will have to bear with the same designs throughout your in-game journey. Once you have unlocked skins, you can equip them with a character of your liking.

Since the first step is to unlock the skins, we will begin from there.

How to unlock character skins in Elden Ring Nightreign

It's going to take a bit of time to get the ability to unlock and use new skins, as you'll have to defeat at least two Nightlords. The first one will be Gladius for all, as it's the only Nightlord to beat in the beginning. All other Nightlords will be locked at first, barring Gladius, so your target is clear.

Once you've defeated Gladius, all the six other Nightlords will be available for hunt. You can hunt any of the six, and your choice doesn't matter. As long as you take down another Nightlord along with Gladius, you'll get the option to unlock and change the appearances of your characters. At this point, a message will pop up telling you a dresser has been fitted to your storage room.

Unlocking Dresser in Elden Ring Nightreign
Screenshot via FromSoftware

At first, you'll have only two available options that you can purchase in exchange for Murk. You'll get a total of 16 different options (two each for every class), but the options will increase as you complete in-game achievements and beat more bosses. Defeating the final boss reportedly gives you a couple of Dark Souls-inspired skins, but I am quite some way off (politely speaking) from reaching there.

Once you have an extra skin available for a character, you can then use it from the Garb menu in Elden Ring Nightreign.

How to equip a skin in Elden Ring Nightreign

Duchess garbs in Elden Ring Nightreign

The Garb Menu can be accessed by pressing the pause button to open the Roundtable Hold Menu. From there, you can check out all the skins that are in your inventory. The menu also acts as a shop for more skins that you might be interested in buying.

Unlocking skins does require a lot of Murk, especially the Darkness variant. You also have to do it individually for every character, so prioritize the class you're using.
