"What does flirting actually look like?" is one of several, quintessentially Friday-afternoon questions raised by the latest development footage for Paralives, the upcoming life sim with its heart set on stealing yours away from The Sims.

We last covered Paralives in October last year, when the devs confirmed an early access release in 2025. That early access launch, 8th December, is fast approaching, so it's high time we treated this would-be Maxis-feller to some fresh scrutiny. If only to stop ourselves thinking about The Sims 4's harrowing suite of imaginary friends.

Skyrim modders have yet again managed to pull off something remarkable. You know how creating patches to ensure two mods work together smoothly's long been something that requires firing up the likes of the creation kit or xEdit? Well, thanks to a new mod dubbed the in-game patcher, it's possible to resolve issues like that simply by wandering up to the location as the Dragonborn and editing the very make-up of the world.

See a rock clipping through a house because you've downloaded a couple of works that give the same bit of Whiterun a makeover? Just mosey over, grab the misbehaving mineral, and either move it elsewhere or delete it. You'll have make sure you've not messed up anything else in the process before you save your changes, but assuming all the NPCs still have their own heads, you've got your own patch.

Gearbox and Take-Two Interactive's Borderlands 4 has launched to cries of "pretty good" from (some) professional reviewers, and "Stutterland bugfest" from a vocal portion of the Steam playerbase. A Borderlands developer has now responded to these fears in the Steam forums, reiterating that Take-Two at large aren't in the business of "spyware".

New Pokemon Ditto Spin-off Game Is Pokemon Pokopia

During the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, a new Pokemon spin-off game starring a Ditto who makes themself look like a trainer called Pokemon Pokopia appeared. It will launch on the Switch 2 in 2026.

The first video highlighted how gameplay will work. We start by controlling a Ditto who decides to look like a Pokemon Trainer. Once heading out into the environment, we can encounter other Pokemon. By interacting with them, we learn their abilities. So learning Leafage from Bulbasaur will let us create grass in the world. By learning abilities, we can create more in the world. This allows us to make more homes for Pokemon, build things up, and potentially develop a whole community. The footage also showed another, different looking trainer roaming around.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Arrives in Spring 2026

The September 2025 Nintendo Direct meant we got a Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream update and new release date window. There was also a new trailer that showed what we can expect. While it will appear in 2026, we now know it will launch in Spring 2026.

The video began by showing an overview of the island. After that, we got to see the Mii creation suite. We got to see some customization options, as well as how we can adjust characters' personalities and voices. From there, we got to see more mini scenarios and interactions between characters.

Here's the full September 2025 Nintendo Direct. The new Spring 2026 release date window for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream comes up at the end of its trailer segment.

https://www.youtube.com/live/tWIEv_aksvo

The original Tomodachi Collection only appeared in Japan on the DS in 2009. The sequel Tomodachi Life was the first to appear worldwide, and that showed up on the 3DS in 2013 in Japan and 2014 elsewhere. Both of them featured similar sort of gameplay and scenarios in them.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will come to the Switch 2 in Spring 2026, though we don't know the exact release date yet.

Best Recent Indie Games on Lenovo Legion Go and Steam Deck Hades 2 release date switch 2

When Nintendo aired the Switch 2 Direct in April 2025, Hades 2 appeared, and now we have a release date for it. According to the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, it will come to the Switch and Switch 2 on September 25, 2025. We should see it on the PC that day too. Physical console copies arrive on November 20, 2025.

This is a direct sequel to the original Hades and is a roguelike that plays in exactly the same way. Melinoe, sister to Zagreus, is the only person who can stand against the titan Chronos. He's taken her family and declared war on the gods. And so we'll fight our way out of Hades to places like Mount Olympus. There are also socialization elements in this installment, just like the ones present in the original Hades between Zagreus and NPCs.

You can see the new trailer for Hades 2 in the showcase below:

https://www.youtube.com/live/mTv0HmKoUqw

We already had an idea that this game was on the way very soon. Supergiant Games released the last early access patch earlier in July 2025. It was also one of the playable games featured at the Switch 2 in-person demo events Nintendo held.

Hades 2 will come to the Switch, Switch 2, and PC, and the Switch and Switch 2 release date is September 25, 2025.

Review: Illusion of Itehari Otome Game Does Some Major Worldbuilding

Otome games that involve the creation of a whole new world and society end up needing to walk a delicate line between really "selling" the space we inhabit while also ensuring the characters and romance remain at the forefront. It's a challenge a lot of games face! It's happened with games like Norn9, Olympia Soiree, Piofiore, Steam Prison, and Virche Evermore. Fortunately for Illusion of Itehari, known in Japan as Utakata no Uchronia, it's generally pretty good at maintaining a balance between establishing things and keeping things interesting. However, there are a few routes in this new Aksys title that suffer from some pacing and storytelling issues as a result.

Like Steam Prison, Illusion of Itehari is an otome game that takes place in a separated society. People live in a floating city that is supposedly perfect, safe, and comfortable for everyone, with a masked "god" known as The Great Taiju ruling it. Hinagiku is a member of the nobility, responsible for guiding, advocating, and governing people. As you can probably imagine, things are anything but. She's always wondered about things outside the idealized bubble and, after going for a walk one day is nearly attacked. A man named Yashiro steps in to defend and save her life, but loses his memories in the process. However, this altercation opens up Hinagiku to learning more about her society and its secrets and getting involved with people she would normally never meet.

Since this is an otome game that will also involve learning about the city's secrets, naturally many of the people who can be love interests are involved with how things run and exposing Hinagiku to difference facets of society. Naturally, Yashiro is part of that, and his route ends up being one of the most informative for insights into things due to his role in the story. However, we also have a member of what is basically the Itehari military (Yori), the Entertainment District head (Tobari), and Hinagiku's personal assistant (Awayuki). Even Tsuyukusa, who is Hinagiku's childhood friend, ends up being meaningful on multiple levels. I appreciate how everyone does somehow tie into things in ways.

The downside is because Illusion of Itehari is very focused on also going through its mysteries and exposing elements of society, with Hinagiku being an active and involved heroine, it can mean pacing and plotlines vary between routes. I think Yashiro, Yori, and Tsuyukusa all have routes that are generally excellent overall, but the execution of ones for Awayuki and Tobari don't feel as strong. I enjoyed them, to be clear. But there are some that come across as being stronger and more critical to events in ways that better balance information and relationships. Couple that with routes that can be longer than runs in typical otome games, and I felt like at least two of the main love interest storylines feel dragged out. Which is a shame, as the characters themselves are really compelling and well-written.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulngh0iBr5M

At least while you're spending hours with these folks, they'll all look great. Illusion of Itehari is a gorgeous game. Both the standard character sprites for folks are beautiful, as are all the CGs. I do think the eyes seem a little big for everyone, Hinagiku especially, in a way that can be off-putting, but I got used to it. However, there is no character portrait sprite for Hinagiku for her lines, which is disappointing. I always like that option.

Illusion of Itehari is one of those otome games that prioritizes building up not only interesting characters and relationships, but a whole world. The lore can be quite interesting, and the resulting motivations and backstories for everything fascinating. I do think this can be to the detriment of some routes however, as the pacing and execution mean that some are incredibly eventful with great revelations and others plod along and don't add much even if the love interest is wonderful. If you're fortunate enough to connect with one of the bachelors who is also tied to critical, major events on Itehari, then I think you'll have a great time with this Switch otome game.

The otome game Illusion of Itehari will be available for the Switch on September 18, 2025.

Harley quinn looking at a glowing purple tainted egg in fortnite

Recovering hidden items is a task that comes up fairly often in Fortnite story quests. It's always a tough mission to tackle since the island is massive and the items you need could be hidden anywhere. One of the quests you'll come across asks you to collect Tainted Eggs.

These items are quite small and hidden, making them fairly difficult to find even if you know where to look. Obtaining them is crucial for progressing the main storyline in Chapter Six, season four, so if you're having trouble with this one, here's how to collect Tainted Eggs at The Hive in Fortnite.

To collect Tainted Eggs at The Hive for the Egg-cellent Observations story quest series, you need to find and recover two Tainted Eggs. Both eggs are hidden in caves you can visit while exploring The Hive area.

Some other missions in this quest series can be tackled anywhere around the island, but for this one, you must be at The Hive to find what you're seeking. The Tainted Eggs are quest spawn items only, so they won't pop up anywhere else outside of this mission.

You can acquire these items by venturing to the right spot for each one and pressing the button that appears once you're close to them. This button varies by platform, but is displayed prominently as soon as you walk up to the egg. Recovering the Tainted Eggs is easy enough, but finding them can be a lot trickier.

Tainted Eggs locations in Fortnite

There are two unique locations you need to visit to collect the Tainted Eggs, both of which are within The Hive POI. You can look for the white diamond icon while exploring this area to find them on your own, or head straight to the right spot from the start. Here's where to find both eggs.

  • Slightly right of The Hive text on the map, inside a small cave close to a water pool, Slurp Geyser, and Swarmer Nest.
  • Near the far north end of The Hive, in the corner of a cave near the pool.

There are plenty of other important tasks to tackle around the island. Next, you might work on using an Ascender and a Zipline in the same matchdamaging opponents while in a Hammerhead Choppa to help summon the Pink Ranger, and calling in Precision Air Strikes.

Killing Splashzone in Borderlands 4

One of the most important aspects of enjoying Borderlands 4 is setting the FOV to your preference.

While it's always vital to use a Field of View (FOV) that feels natural to your eyes, the importance rises when considering general performance since the game's launch. Once again, the gap between PCs and consoles arises when you're trying to customize the FOV values.

How to change the FOV in Borderlands 4 on PC?

Changing the FOV on your PC is extremely easy. The FOV Slider is available under the Video settings.

  • Open the game and let it load to the main screen. If you're encountering crashes on the way, there is a workaround.
  • From the Visuals menu, go to Basic.
  • There are two Field of View sliders.
  • Field of View is the setting applicable to your in-person view.
  • Vehicle Field of View is the FOV you get inside a vehicle.
  • You can increase/decrease it as per your liking.
  • Once done, save the changes, and your customized FOV will be enabled inside the game.

Screenshot by Destructoid

You can tweak the FOV between 70 and 110.

Can you change the FOV on console for Borderlands 4?

At the time of writing on Sept. 12, it's impossible to change the FOV on consoles. Whether you're playing on an Xbox or PlayStation, the FOV is locked to 70 by default. There is no possible way to tweak this value for console gamers.

Whether Gearbox will ever add the feature to consoles remains unknown. If added, it would be welcome news for those on consoles, as 70 FOV isn't a pleasant experience. Like all shooters, you benefit from having a higher FOV (my sweet spot is at 90), and having the ability to change that is undoubtedly beneficial.

Harley quinn looking at a tuned sensor sending purple waves in fortnite

Story quests are some of the toughest missions you'll come across in Fortnite, as they regularly ask you to find and interact with items you're likely not familiar with. One of the tougher missions you'll come across asks you to tune sensors near The Hive to find demonic energy sources.

This task is quest-specific, so it's not a feat you'll encounter until you're actively working on this mission. If you're struggling to get this one done, here's how to tune sensors near The Hive to find demonic energy sources in Fortnite.

Tune sensors near The Hive to find demonic energy sources in Fortnite

To complete the tune sensors near The Hive to find demonic energy sources mission, which is part of the Egg-cellent Observations story quest series, you need to find and tune three sensors around The Hive. Start by heading straight to The Hive, a key POI you can find close to the northwest end of the map.

Once you're in the right area, look for the white diamond icon. This icon marks all three sensors you need to interact with, making them a bit easier to track down. You're looking for small grey panels that blend in with the rest of the OXR equipment around the area quite well, so it's generally best to focus on finding the icon to make this quest easier.

After finding one of the three sensors, walk up to it and press the button that pops up next to the phrase "Tune to demonic energy." The exact button you need to press varies by platform, but it's always displayed right next to the sensor, making it easier to work through this quest.

You'll know the sensor has been tuned as soon as it starts to emit purple waves. Once the sensor is good to go, you simply need to repeat this same process on the other two sensors to get this mission done.

There are three sensors you need to tune, all of which are found fairly close to the center of The Hive area. Although each one is marked with a white diamond icon, they can still be a bit tricky to track down, so here's where to find them.

  • On top of The Hive name on your map, near the left edge, by some OXR gear near the west entrance to this region.
  • On top of The Hive name on your map, close to the right edge, near some OXR equipment and barricades right by the entrance to this location.
  • Slightly north of The Hive name on your map, near the very top end of this POI.

With this quest out of the way, you can move on to tackling other key missions around the island. Next, you might work on gaining shields using Slurp Geysersusing an Ascender and a Zipline in the same matchdamaging opponents while in a Hammerhead Choppa to help summon the Pink Ranger, and calling in Precision Air Strikes.

An orange Imaginary Friend floating in the air next to a child in the sims 4

There are plenty of exciting activities your child Sims can engage in throughout The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits. No matter what you have them doing, though, you might want to have an Imaginary Friend at their side.

Imaginary Friends are fun and unique companions you can unlock for your Sims. If you aren't familiar with how they worked in The Sims 3, you might be a bit confused about this feature. There are also some differences to the previous system, so here are all the Imaginary Friends you can meet in The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits and everything you need to know about them.

Every Imaginary Friend in The Sims 4

Screenshot by Destructoid

There are just four Imaginary Friends to choose from, but luckily, each one looks drastically different from the rest, giving you plenty of options to choose from. The doll form, Imaginary Friend form, and human form for all four Sims are unique,

  • The Lil Monster is an orange Imaginary Friend with a rainbow spinning hat.
  • The Pretty Pegacorn is a blue, pink, and rainbow Imaginary Friend that's also a unicorn.
  • The Krafty Kid is a creepy Imaginary Friend with white hair and a scary face.
  • The Wild Child is a green Imaginary Friend with blue hair and a fuzzy white hat.

How these Sims look varies depending on what state they're in. In doll form, they're small plushes that sit on the ground. In Imaginary Friend form, they look a bit like Muppets or Sesame Street characters, and are about the same size as a child Sim. If they become human, they retain some of their key features, but otherwise adopt a fairly normal appearance.

There are four unique personalities your Imaginary Friend can have.

  • Goofball
  • Creative
  • Evil
  • Competitive

By default, the Lil Monster is a Goofball, the Pretty Pegacorn is Evil, the Krafty Kid is Creative, and the Wild Child is Competitive. Before you bring them to life, though, you can freely swap out this personality to give your new friend whichever one you like best.

You can select your Imaginary Friends' name before you meet them, too. After bringing them to life for the first time, the personality and name you choose are locked in, so be sure to choose carefully. If you age them up to a teen and make them real, you can modify these aspects again.

What are Imaginary Friends in The Sims 4?

Imaginary Friends are special Sims that start off as a toy and can be brought to life by a child Sim. Once they're given life, your child Sims can interact with them in numerous ways, and they're also the only ones who can see them.

They can be interacted with again at any point to revert them back to their doll form, and switched back and forth as much as you like. Eventually, you can also age them up and turn them into real Sims.

There's plenty more to learn about this expansion pack if you want to ensure you fully explore everything it has to offer. Next, you might review the Gibbi Point map guide to familiarize yourself with this scenic world, check out the pre-order bonuses, and take a look at all new Adventure Awaits items and features.

Borderlands 4 combat screenshot

Borderlands 4 has a host of Banks of Kairos available across different regions, and you can make some hefty profits from them.

Your inventory has limited space, so you can only carry a handful of items. The Bank is your account storage where you can store items you don't immediately need in your Backpack. You can then visit a Bank to transfer these items accordingly. But first, let's find out where you can access them.

First Bank location in Borderlands 4

The first Bank of Kairos in Borderlands 4 is located in The Howl region. You'll have to clear a fair amount of content to access it. Thankfully, missing the Bank of Kairos in The Howl is impossible, as the location is tied to the primary campaign.

You'll unlock the Down and Outbound as part of the primary quests. As you keep completing its tasks, you'll come across the Launchpad town in The Howl. There, you'll notice a building with radar dishes on top. Go inside, and you'll locate a door to access the Bank of Kairos in this region.

Screenshot by Destructoid

If you're confused, travel to the location in the screenshot above. It's hard to miss. You can also use your HUD for a bank locker icon to guide you to the Banks of Kairos.

Not all regions have a bank available, so you should keep this in mind before taking on your next mission.

How to withdraw and deposit from Bank of Kairos in Borderlands 4?

Depositing an item into your Bank is simple.

  • Open your Backpack.
  • Tag the items you send to your Bank.
  • Keep the V button pressed till the transfer is complete.

You can deposit an item into your Bank anytime, but withdrawing it is far more limited. You can only withdraw after accessing the Bank. Interestingly, all the items you sent across different builds will be available. This includes weapons you might have found with one character, but want to use with another Vault Hunter.

You can also increase your Bank inventory space with the help of SDU upgrades. This will allow you to transfer and store more items at any time.

psyduck

A glitch has been found in Pokémon Go's latest event that guarantees anyone who uses it a Special Background Pokémon, and nearly 30 hours after it was first discovered, trainers are still taking advantage of it.

This has led to lots of trainers getting Shiny Special Backgrounds in the latest event, getting you a pretty cool Psyduck that would usually be impossible to obtain. The trick also works for the regular Psyduck, too, though, for anyone looking to snag a rare Pokémon for no risk.

https://twitter.com/g47ix/status/1966142632842744307?s=46&t=eJmY99xyXgy2CJNq1541kA

Performing the glitch is pretty simple. Find the Concierge Psyduck that'll spawn on the map and feed it a Berry. Then, after feeding the Berry to it, keep entering and leaving the encounter until the Berry icon below the Pokémon vanishes. When you see this, capture the Pokémon, and it'll have a Special Background each and every time without fail.

Pokémon don't stay around forever, though, and there is no guarantee you can find it in a set amount of tries, so if you are going through the method for an extended period of time and are worried about a Shiny running away from you, maybe don't take any further risk and catch it. It's entirely up to you.

Also, there is a chance that when you throw the Berry the first time, the Pokémon is already destined to give you a Special Background, so that the trick won't work at all.

We also don't know if this glitch will be fixed anytime soon, or if it'll pass onto future Special Background Pokémon in later events, or is only tied to this one. We advise you to make the most of this opportunity to stock up on these usually rare Pokémon before Scopely patches it out. There is no telling when it'll be fixed, so act fast!

Borderlands 4 Vault Hunters

Like all previous games in the series, Borderlands 4 is about adding as many guns as possible, and you can use a maximum of four.

When you start playing the game, you'll notice that just two slots are available for you to equip weapons. You can equip any gun, but only two at a time. However, there are four gun-carrying slots, and two remain locked when you're starting.

While the game doesn't explicitly state how to unlock the two slots, the job is straightforward.

How to get more weapon slots in Borderlands 4?

You don't need to get any upgrades to get more weapon slots. Instead, all you need to do is play and level up. Leveling up has many rewards, including skill points that can help to improve your build over time. Additionally, you'll be rewarded with the ability to equip more weapon slots.

The third weapon slot unlocks when you reach Level 5. This barely takes time, but you'll have to clear the tutorial (escape the prison) and get your first Safehouse (reward for clearing Recruitment Drive). Once you've done this, you can use the third weapon slot and equip any gun you want.

The fourth weapon slot is also unlocked via the same method, but takes longer. You'll need to reach Level 8 before the final slot is available. This will take some time, as the leveling-up grind becomes slower incrementally.

Screenshot by Destructoid

That said, it will happen naturally as you keep playing the game and clearing the in-game content. Completing the main story missions is the easiest way to get character XP. However, you can quicken the process by accepting side quests.

After you unlock your first Safehouse, you can travel to different areas of the map and meet new NPCs. Some of them will provide you with extra quests to complete. These quests reward you with various items and XP to boost your character growth.

The fourth and final slot unlocks immediately as you reach Level 8.

Borderlands 4 scary mech enemy

The first mission of Borderlands 4, aka Recruitment Drive, throws a headache when you're about to get clearance for the elevator.

The mission, by itself, is straightforward and linear in nature. It involves fundamental tasks that help you grasp the basics, get your Glider pack, and your first Safehouse in the game. However, there's an apparent bug that could trigger on certain occasions. This prevents you from calling the elevator and proceeding with the mission.

Thankfully, this problem is really easy to fix.

How to call the elevator in Borderlands 4 Recruitment Drive?

The Recruitment Drive mission is all about you and Claptrap, as the latter instructs you on what to do. Once you clear the initial wave of the rippers, the next task is to call the elevator. However, the switch you have to press is not there (it's at the top).

You might seem stuck at this point, as there are no further instructions. If that happens, you'll have to restart the process. But before doing so, wait around a minute since Claptrap first instructs you about the elevator. If he gives you no further instructions, you must reload the save. However, I waited for around a minute, which led to Claptrap telling me to go and infiltrate the Ripper base.

Killing Splashzone in Borderlands 4
Screenshot by Destructoid

Once you have infiltrated the Ripper base and eliminated Splashzone, return to the top of the broadcasting tower. From there, use your Glider to hover over to the top to get your first Safehouse in Borderlands 4. To do so, you'll need Claptrap, who is at the bottom of the tower.

To help Claptrap reach the top, you'll have to call the elevator. Here, you'll find that the switch is malfunctioning, but the game won't tell exactly what you have to do. Your next job is simple: go close to the dead junkie lying by the stash right in front of the elevator switch. You'll find a fuse on him to repair the switch and make the elevator functional here.

If you appear stuck at this phase, don't fret. Just wait until Claptrap's instructions load to fix the elevator switch. Claptrap will then come to the top and ask you to deal with a stuck door. Use your melee attack to fix the door and get your first Safehouse before proceeding with the campaign.
