It's that time of the year folks. The weather's getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and Escape From Tarkov is getting Tweeted and Skeeted about again because of a controversial decision. This time, it's because the game is coming to Steam, which in and of itself is a perfectly fine, perhaps even smart thing to do. The thing that's being called into question however, is the answer to a question on the Steam release's FAQ page about whether or not you'll have to buy it again.

There are few occasions where a game tells me it's combining two genres that typically don't go together and it convinces me it's worth paying attention to, but Blanksword, a roguelike RPG, is quite different. In it, you are Blank, an angel stabbed in the head, brain destroyed, who somehow managed to survive such an ordeal - albeit without any memory of who you were. And now, you are on a quest through a series of islands governed by "Literally God" in order to figure out your mysterious past.

There is nothing inherently awful in a game being obscenely long, in fact it can be quite pleasurable to get to know a digital world so intimately. The issue is that I am an "adult" who has to "work" to pay my "bills" and "taxes," so I don't always have time for such things. How some of you manage to fit in multiple playthroughs of Persona games will always be an enigma to me. But, as I sit here in my despair, along comes 34EVERLAST, a game designed to be beaten in "as little as 10 minutes," expressly designed for "busy working adults."

About a month ago, it was announced that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 would only feature four different clans in its base game, with two extra clans coming as day one DLC. This, unsurprisingly, was received like a wet fart on a hot Sunday at church, with publisher Paradox later saying that they would make "adjustments" based on the response. And as confirmed in a press release and new trailer, said adjustments are the fact that these two clans, Lasombra and Toreador, will be included in the base game at launch.

While everyone complains about the technical state that Borderlands 4 released in, whether it's choppy performance or the lack of an FOV slider on consoles, I found myself on the much happier end of the spectrum. Aside from the gruellingly slow start, where I was drowning in weak pistols and absolutely no other weapon types, playing this game had me smiling like an idiot about how it's the best Borderlands yet.

Admittedly, it's a series I've never really clicked with, all previous attempts having ended in boredom. Borderlands 4, though, is different. Almost everything about it, from the world design to the power variety of the playable Vault Hunters, has been improved or refined, to the point where I'm actually annoyed that I have to stop playing so that I can write up this review. This game is consuming me.

Earlier this year, Microsoft laid off a lot of people and cancelled projects at various subsidiary game studios, as part of what company CEO Satya Nadella has whimsically called the "enigma of success". Elder Scrolls Online developers ZeniMax Online Studios were among those making cuts - they buried an unannounced project codenamed Blackbird, which was reportedly a nimble MMO shooter of some kind. In the process, studio head Matt Firor also left the company. Unionised staff members have described the reductions as "inhumane", demoralising and counterproductive, with one worker commenting that "a lot of practical knowledge just disappeared overnight".

Now, studio game director Rich Lambert and game director Nick Giacomini have been chatting a little about where ZeniMax Online Studios is going next. They still have plenty of ideas for new game projects, apparently, but for the moment, the focus appears to be on streamlining the update process for ESO.

As our Nic conveyed earlier this year, Little Nightmares 3's coming out October 10th. That date was unaffected by Supermassive laying off up to 36 people and delaying interstellar horror Directive 8020 in July.

March 7th Alt Evernight Explained in New Honkai: Star Rail Trailer

HoYoVerse shared new details about Evernight, the five-star character alt for March 7th that debuts in Honkai: Star Rail 3.6. In addition to an official HoYoLab article that looks at quips about the character, her background, and gifs of animations like her idle pose, there's a "Keeping Up with Star Rail" trailer dedicated to her moveset.

Editor's Note: The "Keeping Up with Star Rail" trailer and HoYoLab article feature some Honkai: Star Rail Evernight spoilers.

Evernight is established as a Chrysos Heir of Amphoreus, and all of the released media note she is an ally to the Trailblazer and Dan Heng. She fights using an umbrella, which she also notes "looks good in photos." She's an Ice type character on the Path of Remembrance with an Evey jellyfish like memosprite. She can increase allies' attacks, and Evey has some blood knight tendencies for attacks. She can also enter a Darkest Riddle state after using her O Wakeful World, Goodnight attack. That attack sends Evey to attack all enemies, shifts her state, and increases both the amount of damage she takes and deals.

Here's the new trailer for the character:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0XGzj7qJBU

As a reminder, we aren't just getting a new March 7th alt in Honkai: Star Rail after the September 24, 2025 patch, as a new Dan Heng debuts in 3.6 too. He's called Dan Heng Permansor Terrae and is a Preservation unit. Between October 15, 2025 and 4.0, HoYoVerse will give one copy of him away to all players for free.

Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the March 7th alt Evernight will be available via the Remembrance of None banner that debuts on September 24, 2025.

Ranma 1/2 Remake Season 2 Streams on Netflix in October anime

Netflix confirmed the worldwide release of season 2 of the Ranma 1/2 remake anime, and it will stream on the service starting on October 4, 2025. There's also new key art, which shows new and returning characters from the series. Mappa shared a second trailer on YouTube setting the stage for this season's events, and it highlighted the new opening theme song "Wo Aini" by Wednesday Campanella.

The trailer for Ranma 1/2 season 2 seems to begin with Ranma Saotome confessing his love to Akane Tendo, but it turns out they are practicing for their roles in the Romeo and Juliet school play. From there, we see that he's still being pursued by a number of people, like Shampoo and Ukyo Kuonji. There are also plenty of fights, with some involving the young women and others featuring Ryoga Hibiki, Mousse, and Hikaru Gosunkugi. Just like in the original series, Ukyo is the final possible love interest for Ranma to show up.

Here's that full season 2 trailer with English subtitles.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf_pRksXtTw

You can see the key art for this season below. At the center are Akane and Ranma as Juliet and Romeo. On the sides are the girl version of Ranma and Shampoo in maid costumes. On the left, characters like Tatewaki Kuno, Ukyo, and Hikaru showed up, while Mousse and Cologne are on the right above Ryoga. Genma Saotome, in his panda form, is at the back holding the "season 2" sign.

Ranma 1/2 season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix starting on October 4, 2025, and the first season of the anime remake is already on the service. Viz Media handled the manga outside Japan.

Nitori Making FFVII Remake Gaming Chairs, Desk, and Desk Mat

Following a Tokyo Game Show 2025 social media tease from Nitori suggesting it would release Final Fantasy VII items, the company confirmed it is working on two FFVII Remake gaming chairs, a desk with a logo and imagery, and a desk mat. The chairs are expected to ship around November 16, 2025, while the desk and desk mat will appear shortly after around November 20, 2025. Each chair is 29,990円 (~$205), the desk is 39,990円 (~$273), and the desk mat is 4,990円 (~$34). So far, it seems the items are only confirmed for Japan.

Each of the items features elements that reference characters and weapons in FFVII Remake, with the chairs being dedicated to Cloud and Sephiroth, the desk bringing up Cloud's Buster Sword, and the desk mat showing the main party. The Cloud chair has his key art on the back facing the Mako reactor. The headrest has the game's logo, and the pillow has a Buster Sword design. Sephiroth's shows him in a fiery scene, the headrest has the logo, and the pillow has his one wing on it. Panels on the desk show the game logo and Buster Sword. Finally, the desk mat shows the final scene from FFVII Remake. That has Red XIII, Aerith, Cloud, Barret, and Tifa on it, from left to right.

Here's how all those items look:

We'll see FFVII Remake again next year. Square Enix confirmed a January 22, 2026 launch for the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X. The Switch 2 version will be a game keycard release

As for Nitori, two other collaborations are planned. It will sell Street Fighter 6 gaming chairs, as well as gaming chairs and a desk based on Monster Hunter Wilds

The Final Fantasy VII Remake Nitori gaming chairs, desk, and desk mat will debut in Japan in November 2025, meanwhile FFVII Remake is on the PS4, PS5, and PC now andwill come to the Switch 2 and Xbox Series X on January 22, 2026.

digimon godzilla t-shirt keychains

Premium Bandai will sell merchandise like keychains of the Digimon from the Godzilla and Digimon collaboration in Japan. Pre-orders will close on October 10, 2025, and they'll ship out in November 2025. It is unknown if they'll eventually appear in the English storefront as well.

The T-shirt only comes in the MetalGreymon design, and it costs 4800 JPY ($32.80). Meanwhile, the keychains have more variety. You have four to choose from, and they cost 880 JPY ($6.00) each. Your choices are MetalGreymon, SkullGreymon, WarGreymon, and Mugendramon. These Digimon don't look like they typically do in the games or anime. Instead, they're the Godzilla collaboration versions, which depict them like they're being infected by G-Cells.

As a note, since these products are available via Premium Bandai, you will need to be in Japan to access the site. It also doesn't offer international shipping. Overseas customers will need to employ a proxy service if they wish to purchase these products without waiting for resellers.

Bandai announced its collaboration with Godzilla back in March 2025. During the Digimon Con 2025 event, it unveiled the Godzilla edition of the Digimon Color toy. This toy will let you raise 34 different Digimon, including collaboration-specific ones with G-Cells. The G-Cells aren't just a design gimmick, as they affect how your Digimon evolves.

The Godzilla and Digimon merchandise are available on the Premium Bandai website, and will also appear in physical Bandai stores.

A skater flying above the city in skate.

EA's new live-service, free-to-play Skate has launched to massive success, at least in some respects. Garnering a huge player count in its first 24 hours, it's among the biggest releases this year, but its reviews indicate a lot of underlying issues that could adversely affect its longevity.

According to SteamDB, Skate has launched to over 80,000 peak concurrent players, with around 75,000 in the game as of this article. This is a huge following for a skating game, and places the title high on the Steam top-played list and among the biggest launches of 2025. However, despite performing well and attracting a massive crowd, its reviews are majority negative, with only 48 percent of players recommending the game, earning it a "Mixed Reviews" tag on Valve's store.

Player feedback touches on a lot of aspects of the game, from its graphics and art style, which is being deemed "cartoonish" by some (and which I also didn't really like while previewing the game), to performance issues regarding the replay editor, to clunky levels that are impossible to improve manually, as opposed to maps in Skate 3.

A lot of features present in some of the previous games are also not in there, while some reviewers are saying that Skate "is not" the successor to the long-standing series, which has garnered quite a cult following over the years.

Overall, it appears that a lot of those issues I indicated in my preview, and which EA said would be ironed out throughout the game's live-service lifespan, remain in the full release. The title is in early access, though, so a lot of the game is subject to change and improvement.

Whether those will come in time to save the game from huge initial backlash is anyone's guess, so here's hoping EA hears what players are saying and works to make Skate into the best game possible.

The Ill-ledgible quest is one of the harder ones to master in Skate, and one of its five tasks requires you to successfully complete a Triple Flip trick to proceed.

To be precise, you'll have to perform six Triple Flip tricks to complete the task. In my experience so far, the Triple Flip Flick trick isn't easy to do. It's a combination of two separate tricks, and you'll also have to be precise with your controls to land it successfully.

This guide will help you master the art of performing a Triple Flip trick.

How to perform the Triple Flip trick in Skate?

You need to perform the other tasks of the Ill-ledgible quest before proceeding with the Triple Flips. This will allow you more time to land them six times successfully to complete the quest.

To perform the Triple Flip trick, we will use the slightly inclined raised slopes on the base floor. For this trick, avoid any thin surfaces like guard rails. When you're approaching the small ramp, hold the RS down. This should happen right about when you're going to approach the ramp. Ideally, you should be in a crouched position as you approach the ramp.

When you're in the air, quickly flick the RS to the top-left part. To make matters simpler, I have shared a zoomed-in shot of what the RS movement would look like when you perform it correctly. You'll need to flick when you're approximately at the highest point in the air. Good airtime will allow you to perform the three rotations or flicks that are part of the trick quickly.

RS movement for Triple Flick trick in Skate
Screenshot by Destructoid

To run it down once again:

  • Use the smaller ramps on the floor in the location where the Ill-ledgible quest takes place.
  • Hold the RS down while approaching the ramp.
  • Quickly flick it to the top-left when you're in the air. This will complete the trick.
  • Repeat it five more times to complete the quest.

If you manage to complete all the tasks and there's no quest progression, it could be a bug. There have been instances where the quests have failed to save the progress for players, and there's an easy workaround available for all.

A massive tower in Hell is Us.

Hell is Us proved a huge surprise to me this year, as I did not know what to expect when first getting into the game.

Encountering everything that I did about the state of Hadea, the game's fictional nation and setting, which is embroiled in a brutal civil war unfolding in the background, I had to learn more about it.

Speaking with creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletete, I learned about how Hadea came to be, why it was made, and how central a role it plays within Hell is Us, to the point of it being more or less the actual main character aside from the protagonist, Remi.

The director also touched on topics of war, how Hell is Us tackles the idea of it, and how civil wars and events like those transpiring in Hadea differ from professional armies following rules of engagement.

Here is the full interview.

Note: Parts of this conversation were edited or condensed for better text clarity.

Hell is Us has one of the most detailed, atmospheric worlds in the history of video games. Screenshot by Destructoid

In action-adventure puzzle games like Hell is Us, Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones, and others, the backdrop isn't so detailed. They usually just make a setting, while the personal quest of the protagonist is the most important part.

Why did Rogue Factor decide to make such a robust world that's unfolding behind the scenes, away from the personal story of the protagonist, knowing the player won't directly experience it?

Jonathan Jacques-Belletete (Creative director, art director, Rogue Factor): I think there are multiple levels to why we did it this way. One of the reasons might be a bit unconscious, in the sense that I am first and foremost a world builder. This is one of my main skills, and I really enjoy stories that are about the world in which they take place.

Those stories still need to have characters, but I don't get particularly annoyed or upset if the focus seems to be more on what's happening around the main character, or at least on an equal level. So that's a bit kind of like my personal thing.

The second variable I would say is we wanted all the details and all the kinds of psychological aspects of it. I think because of that, by default, it created an extremely present world building that was really on the front row, on the main stage if you want.

And like you said, we wanted Remi, the hero, to be able to interact with it, but we didn't want him to be able to solve it. I don't think it's possible that one human being solves a civil war or any war. It only happens in Hollywood movies or in video games, but not in this video game. Even the UN peacekeepers have never managed to pull that off.

All these things put together led to having this extremely potent, extremely forefront-ish world-building that really became the main character.

When building Hadea's, kings, history, isolationist culture, ethnic groups, character of the nation itself, did Rogue Factor look into real-life nations and cultures to make their in-game counterparts more realistic or feel less fictional?

Jacques-Belletete: Of course we did. To begin with, in terms of [accurately portraying] the civil war, we didn't look just at one situation. We looked at many [wars], like the Rwandan genocide, and obviously the Bosnian War, Sierra Leone, and much, much more. But of course, we took a bit in terms of situations, contexts, what lit the flame, all that.

We took a bit from all of these at the same time. And politically speaking, we also took a little bit left and right as well to build Hadea, to build its background.

Because one thing that you start noticing when you really deep dive into these types of conflicts is that they have a lot of things in common, right? Like the distortion of the past or the weaponization of long past events; like mythical figures or historical figures that nobody cares [about] anymore, [that are] suddenly brought [to the forefront].

You see it in Britain right now with the St. George's Cross. And I'm not making a statement about that at all. I'm not at all saying if I agree or disagree, but I had never heard of that person before. And I really wouldn't be surprised, again, not a criticism, if some people who are now waving that flag didn't even know who that person was three months ago.

[There is also] almost the invention of differences between group A and group B. Sometimes they're exactly the same people. They speak the exact same language. And in order to appear more different, to justify the atrocities and the violence, they will invent or shine even more light on things that have never bothered anyone before. So these tend to be a bit more, less present in certain conflicts and more in others. But they're very, very often there.

So it's really just an amalgamation of all these things that seem to always be present, [such as] obviously nationalism and so many other things, and it created Hadea. And visually speaking, for me, it was a big mix between, yes, Eastern Europe and Southern Europe, but also the English countryside, kind of the mossiness and the greenness of the British countryside. But, yeah, it's very much taken from so many sources where these types of conflicts have happened.

In what capacity did the Yugoslav Wars, and specifically the Bosnian War, since it was the one where religious differences caused the divide, like with the Sabinians and the Palomists [in Hell is Us]?

Jacques-Belletete: Obviously, we 100 percent looked at what happened in Yugoslavia, and the situation between the Serbs, the Croats, and the Bosniaks was 100 percent our inspiration. But there's also a big reference to the Reformation of the Christian Church, back when Protestantism came in and all that stuff. So, like I said, these things are quite common.

[We looked at] the hundreds of years of religious war in Europe between when Luther did his thesis and all that stuff. It's also a huge inspiration. But yes, absolutely, what happened in Yugoslavia, sadly, religiously speaking, where the lines were drawn, was an inspiration as well, for sure.

But it was not the only one.

Hell is Us combines a lot of elements of various genres, so from Souls combat to Metroidvania levels, action-adventure, and puzzle-solving. The themes, though, transcend arcade. They are way beyond video games as a mode of entertainment, especially in their meditations on war, famine, and the effects of contemporary conflicts and how devastating they can be.

So would you describe your game as an anti-war title? And what is your goal in creating such a game alongside the puzzles, history, archaeology, and other aspects?

Jacques-Belletete: It's definitely an anti-war game, but it's even more of an anti-human violence game. [But it's not about] states waging war, one state against another state, with what we call professional armies, and warfare for resources, and stuff like that. I think there are a lot of games [about that], like for example Spec Ops: The Line. It's very much anti-war, and what an amazing game for it.

Hell is Us is kind of automatically anti-war, but we chose civil war because it's a lot more anti-human violence, human barbarity, because it's not about professional soldiers that are paid to do something. Atrocities happen in any war, like country against country; like Americans have done [in the Middle East], professional soldiers have done horrible, atrocious acts. Same with Canadians, something that happened with our 101st Airborne Regiment back in the 90s, they disbanded it because it was absolutely insane.

But technically, as weird as it sounds, there are rules, and there are certain things that nations at war are supposed to do and not do. But when it's people, regular people like you and me, that get to a point where they decide to take out their machetes and whatever weapons they can put their hands on, it's just absolute pure madness, you know what I mean?

It's just absolute insanity that happens, and that's the human barbarity. We tend to think that barbarity was something that happened an extremely long time ago, but it's inside all of us, it's inside me, it's inside you, it's inside everyone. Under the right circumstances, it can all come out.

That's what the game is about, that's what the game is anti, much more than just anti-war, if you can see what I mean.

"We could have gone so much further."

A mural in Hell is Us depitcing people hanged from a tree with the words "Sabinian family tree" next to it.
Themes of barbarity, violence, and cruelty permeate the world of Hadea. Screenshot by Destructoid

Jacques-Belletete: But for example, that graffiti of the hanging tree, and also the hanging tree in the map, that's a very good example. Again, technically, [in] state wars, you shouldn't see things like that. They happen, I'm sure they do. But let's say when the United States and all its allies invaded Iraq after 9/11, I'd be very surprised if there was a tree where American soldiers hung civilians.

But seeing things like this in a civil war, a hanging tree or something of that magnitude, is not uncommon at all. That's where the madness is. So, that's the statement of the game.

And that's why all the emotions, the themes of emotions and passions and all those things come into play in the game, because when you do these things to other people, and sometimes even people that you used to know or know of, it's pure emotions. You know what I mean? It's not mechanical. And that's very much what the game is about.

I've read certain things lately where people say, like on Reddit and whatever, that we pushed it a lot. They're definitely right. But we could have gone so much further. We actually restrained ourselves. And also, there's no gore in the game. It's all about how atrocious a little scenario is.

It's not about gore. It's not about blood. It's just about, holy f**k, what just happened here? And we could have gone much worse. What happens in real life is much worse than what's in the game.

On that point, since you could have gone a lot further, given how detailed this world is, it would be a shame not to see more of it, to experience more of it, maybe even more personally, more up close. So, does the studio plan, or is it talking about perhaps doing more with Hadea, exploring that side of the world, instead of the puzzles, the deep underground kingdoms, lost prophecies, and so on?

Jacques-Belletete: The vibe that we've created with Hell is Us, and the gameplay philosophies and all that, are very much now a Rogue Factor thing, and we're absolutely continuing in that direction. No matter what game we would make, there's a style we want to keep moving forward. Now, if we were ever to go back to the world of Hell is Us, or Hadea, there is so much stuff.

Tomorrow, I could send a synopsis to writers to start novels about the past. Or, as you played, if you paid attention to the details, the Limbic Invasion in the game is the sixth one; there were five before.

Pick any one of the five, and we could have a whole game, or a whole movie, or a whole novel with just that one. We have the people who took part in, let's say, the Second Limbic Invasion; we have their names, and who was the king at that point, who did what, how did the invasion happen, how was it quelled, etc.

And then in terms of contemporary Hadea, there's so much. Now, I don't think, because that's the second layer of your question, if I would make something that's just about Hadea without its past, and all the cosmic horror vibe, [because] I don't think you can separate the two.

I don't think we could make, I mean, technically we could, but I don't think we'd [want to] make like a TV show of just a little village in northern Hadea, with their day-to-day lives, you know what I mean? Do we have information for that? Of course. But Hadea, Hell is Us, is about everything that we've created. Its past, how it's intertwined with its present, and the Limbic Invasions, and all that.

But there's still so much to say, so much to show, and I think we could ride that wave for quite some time.

I know it's probably ambiguous on purpose, but where exactly would Hadea be? I know the game takes place in an alternate version of our world. I saw the UN flag, which had the map of the world. I was actually not expecting the game to be set in our world, so where would you place it geographically?

Jacques-Belletete: Mathieu and I, the lead writer, wrote the game together, the world-building, and then the game itself. We wrote it together, and I don't recall, honestly, in all the years, in all the thousands of hours we spent together creating that story and that world, that we said, Where is that country exactly? It was not important.

What was important was to convey that it's definitely on Earth, right? We can say an alternative reality if you want, because that country actually doesn't exist in this reality, but we didn't even see it as an alternate reality; we just saw it as this world, and it's somewhere in this world.

Now, [about] the ON, we didn't call it the ON to boast a concept of an inverted or alternate reality. I would have liked to call them the UN. We actually contacted the United Nations, and they didn't allow us to use their name; I had to change it. They allowed us to use their baby blue color for their helmet and their flak jacket, even their Pantone code, [and] we were fine with that. We could use the white vehicles with the black stencils on them, but the actual name and the logo, we had to modify.

So that's the only reason it was portrayed as a parallel universe. I had no choice, because if I had had my way, it would have been the UN, the United Nations, and that's it, right? But we couldn't.

One of the reasons I think Mathieu and I never bothered [with geographically locating Hadea], is what's happening inside the country is so atrocious, that if we would have pinpointed in the slightest, at one part of the world, a little more than another, or one people a little more than another, or anything else, we would have gotten into trouble.

So you might feel influences, you might feel philosophical influences, historical influences, natural influences, but at the end of the day, it's all they are, and if you really dissect them, they're from all over the place.

Going back to when we first started this conversation, you said, first and foremost, that you were a world builder crafting histories, whole timelines of events, and so on. What advice would you give to other world builders, designers, or writers trying to create entire worlds, or even one nation, with the history as rich as Hadea's?

Jacques-Belletete: That's an amazing question, and nobody's ever asked me that. That's actually hard to answer, because I think it's something that comes very naturally to me. I'm not sure if I have a specific method or something like that.

It's going to be bizarre what my answer is going to be, because they're not tools that I use, because like I said, it's just the way that my brain works naturally. But my answer is that so many tools exist nowadays that can help you with world-building, like amazing decks of cards that you can buy that help you.

Even though I said it kind of comes naturally to me, I'm an avid reader. The minute a subject interests me, I go on Amazon and even if I'm like, oh, I might use it or not, I'll order 10 books on it, and next day they arrive and I just start reading.

So read, read, read, read, read, read, read, read, is what I would say. Whether it's a theme, a trope, a context or a real history, it doesn't matter. Whatever interests you for your world building, find the best books on it and go read and read and read and read. Always have a notebook with you. Constantly take notes, whatever idea you have. And just tinker, just tinker, just nonstop.

I use Miro and I love it. My brain is very chaotic, and Miro for me is very freeform, free flow. There are no rules on how you want to place your things. I find it very good to put your ideas down.

One of the things that I like the most when I build worlds is creating names, inventing names. I can spend hours just on one name. There's always a meaning in the names, and I take different names. I combine them.

If you look at the map in Hadea in the APC, and you zoom in when you choose what level you want to go to, there's a whole world-building part you [probably] haven't seen, because I've created hundreds and hundreds of towns and cities.

The names of the highways and the names of the regions and everything. That took me months and months because finding the right name for each little village, each little town, they all mean something.

Erling Haaland's gold card in FC 26

Team of the Week will be the first promo in FC 26 when the game goes live on Sept. 19, and TOTW 1 has some fantastic cards.

Unlike some other promos in Ultimate Team, TOTW is based on current footballers. EA Sports will feature the best performers from world football each week and release special cards in Ultimate Team. These cards aren't only better versions of the footballers, but they can also have unique playstyles and roles.

Here are the full details of the TOTW 1 batch and all the cards in it.

Complete list of FC 26 TOTW 1 players

The complete list of TOTW 1 cards went live on Sept. 17 with the launch of the Web app.

How to get TOTW 1 cards in FC 26?

Over the last few years, the Ultimate Edition has guaranteed a TOTW 1 card. This time around, fans do not have that privilege. There are two ways to obtain the first Team of the Week cards.

  • Packs: You'll need to open packs and hope to get lucky to pull a TOTW 1 card. Usually, the safest choice is to open packs that guarantee Rare Gold players. However, you can also get them from Bronze and Silver packs if any Bronze or Silver player makes it to the TOTW. The odds of getting those cards will be extremely low. Look out for TOTW 1 guaranteed packs if they appear in the store or as objective rewards.
  • Market: If you have coins, you can buy TOTW 1 cards directly from the market. The prices of those cards will depend on individual demand and supply.

The Web app for FC 26 is available on PC for all, but the servers aren't working as intended for many at the time of writing.

The Web app is many people's first introduction to this year's Ultimate Team. Users can create their starter squads, complete the beginner SBCs, and more for free. All their progress will be carried over when they later resume their journeys in the game.

However, the servers being out of order is creating problems for many.

When did the FC 26 Web App servers go down?

The exact time is hard to pinpoint, but it appears to have happened right after the servers went live at 6 pm BST. This is the typical content time followed by EA Sports for releasing content in Ultimate Team. I did manage to sign in for a brief period and was taken to the screen for selecting the starter league pack.

Unfortunately, my choice couldn't register due to the current situation with the servers. Since then, all my attempts to successfully log onto the app have failed. It appears that I am not the only one, as social media platforms like X have plenty of examples like mine.

Unfortunately, the servers have gone down in the past. This happens mainly because too many players are trying to sign in at the exact moment, overloading the servers. At the time of writing, it's impossible to predict when the servers will be functional again.

Once the servers are restored, you'll be able to log in to your account and start building up your Ultimate Team squad. The best course of action is to wait till the load stabilizes.

A huge ancient Roman town in Roman Triumph: Survival City Builder.

Anno 117: Pax Romana is just around the corner, slated for release on Nov. 13 this year. However, if you're itching for some antique city-building right now, there's one indie game that you would love, and it just got its huge 1.0 release.

The game in question is Roman Triumph: Survival City Builder, released in full on Sept. 16. The game is just as its name describes: a citybuilder set in the times of the Roman Empire, placing you as a governor of a province deep within Germania. Your goal is to found this new settlement and build it from the ground up, all the while combating various dangers, such as barbarian attacks or mythical creatures who care about nothing but wanton destruction.

All the mechanics you'd expect from Anno are there: taxation houses, military buildings, walls, defenses, industrial complexes, farms, and so on. You can produce an incredible number of resources, use them to elevate your citizens' quality of life, or trade them with other Roman provinces for gold and other goods.

You start with nothing but an idea and work your way up, building homes, temples, courthouses, farms, and so on, until you've grown into a true work of city planning art.

Where Roman Triumph differs from Anno is its heavy reliance on the mechanics revolutionized by Banished, making this title more of a colony survival game than a proper city builder. You must help your citizens persevere through harsh winters, heavy rains destroying crops, barbarians invading to take your money and resources, and mythical creatures like dragons swooping in to burn everything to the ground.

It's a game that's very heavy on the real-time strategy mechanics, but that is only during events of attacks, which are quite rare by default settings (or disabled altogether if that's your prerogative).

All in all, it's the perfect game to sink your time into while waiting for Ubisoft's next title in the long-standing Anno series. It's also on sale in celebration of its full release, so do make sure to get it while it's hot.

Meanwhile, you can also check out older titles like Anno 1800 or, to be more closely related to antique vibes, Anno 1404.

Dispatch Robert with ZTeam

Every superhero needs a "guy in the chair," and in the upcoming title Dispatch, you get to be that guy.

Dispatch sports a gorgeous comic-like animated series style similar to Invincible, light sense of humor, and unique playstyle that really piqued my interest in a private presentation with developers last week. The devs confirmed "actions have consequences" across the choice-based game's episodes.

Clocking in with over 700,000 wishlists on Steam, Dispatch generated a lot of hype during Steam Next Fest in June. Led by Aaron Paul and Jeffrey Wright, it's a narrative-based "superhero workplace comedy" game and the first title from AdHoc Studio, comprised of industry veterans from TellTale Games, Ubisoft, and more.

Today, along with the release date, AdHoc has revealed that Dispatch will be released episodically, taking a page from previous TellTale titles like The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones. With season one, two episodes will launch each week starting on Oct. 22 until all eight episodes are released by the final week on Nov. 12. The devs estimate each episode could take about an hour, with "up to 10" for the full season, "if you're exploring everything."

"We think the release format is an underrated part of the player experience," Nick Herman, co-founder of AdHoc Studio and Dispatch creative director said. "Episodic is a format that makes the story easy to slip into, easy to keep up with, and easy to share with friends. We want the launch of Dispatch to be 'appointment gaming' but with the weekly cadence of a TV show, as opposed to asking people to wait months between each release."

In Dispatch, players play Robert Robertson, a.k.a. Mecha Man, "whose mech-suit is destroyed in a battle against his nemesis, forcing him to take a job at a superhero dispatch center: not as a hero, but a dispatcher." The game tasks you with rehabilitating a group of former supervillains, managing your roster, and "navigating office relationships and rebuilding your suit for a shot at revenge."

Like older TellTale games, dialogue options are important, but managing the roster of heroes at your disposal to decide where and when to send them to emergencies all around the city is also crucial. You can level and power up these heroes, too, so there seems to be a solid amount of customization involved.

The AdHoc devs confirmed they have more stories to tell within the Dispatch universe, but "a lot of it will depend on how the game does" when it launches next month.

San Vansterdam city in Skate

The Session challenge is one of the many quests available in the early access build of Skate, but it has been a problem for many (myself included).

Bugs are expected, given the early access nature of the build, and that applies to certain quests, including the Session challenge. The bug prevents you from progressing and completing the quest to unlock the available rewards.

Thankfully, there's an easy solution to the problem at hand, which you can try before the bug gets fixed with an update patch.

Skate Session challenge quest fix

The Session challenge is part of the main storyline, and it unlocks after you clear a fair bit of the initial content. The first two tasks are simple and easy to complete. Once you complete them, the game doesn't give you any additional information.

The major bug hides the two remaining tasks that have to be completed to finish the Session challenge. Once you finish the first two tasks, there won't be any icon telling you what you have to do for the third step. This is a result of the bug, and you can solve it in two ways.

The Session challenge in Skate

  • Just wait: The solution that worked for me was to wait. During this time, you can roam around other areas and even attempt smaller challenges to get high scores and more rewards. I'm unsure as to how long you'll have to wait, but if you keep doing other tasks, the bug should disappear, allowing you to progress with the Session challenge.
  • Open the Social tab, and teleport to any player. The teleportation has a chance of restarting the challenge from where it got stuck, and you can then resume with the third step. Attempt this step only after waiting for a brief period of time.

Ultimately, if neither of these solutions works, the only alternative is to restart Skate and start the challenge from the beginning. This isn't an optimum solution, but it's the last resort when everything else fails. If you're stuck on your missions that are not progressing, try out this fix instead.

A screenshot from Ninja Gaiden Sigma shows Ryu slicing through enemies

It feels like the last few months of Game Pass have been huge, with titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Gears of War Remastered dropping on the service.

As always, though, some good titles are about to leave the service, so you may want to download and boot up these few titles before they leave Game Pass for good on Oct. 1.

All Xbox Game Pass departures in Sept. 2025

Here's the complete list of all the games that will no longer be part of the Xbox Game Pass after Sept. 30.

  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
  • Ninja Gaiden 3: Razer's Edge
  • Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection
  • Terra Invicta (Game Preview)

It's a shame to be losing the Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection and all of its individual titles, obviously, as they're all solid action titles. The remakes themselves are also fairly good, updating these iconic titles with some great visuals and much-needed adjustments. Still, they aren't too long, so you have a few weeks to finish them all if you have ever wanted to enjoy the ninja life.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a retelling of the original Ninja Gaiden, though it actually doesn't include some of the features from the previous Ninja Gaiden Black release. It has a few changes and improvements, such as the ability to fight on water and shoot arrows in mid-air.

Up next, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is an action-packed sequel that introduces a few more playable characters. You can take down enemies as Ryu, of course, but this time you can also play as Rachel, Ayane, or Momiji.

Finally, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge rounds out this trilogy and continues the adventures of Ryu, Rachel, Ayane, and Momiji. This time, players can collect Golden Scarabs and earn Karma to upgrade their characters, and even unlock new weapons and ninpo. Thankfully, you can even carry these upgrades over into subsequent playthroughs, if you're trying to beat it again on a higher difficulty.

Then, one of the other titles leaving Xbox Game Pass is Terra Invicta, a space-based strategy game with a staggering amount of depth. Described by VICE as "a super dense, terrifying child of XCOM and Crusader Kings," the game has dozens of popular reviews on Steam, with many saying they have lost hundreds of hours in the title.

A FEMA officer demanding more people are given to them

Unlike most No, I'm not a Human items that are available for a fee through the ForRest mobile service, the FEMA Notice is a free and rare item you shouldn't ignore. Strategic thinking is needed for the times when a FEMA Notice ends up in your hands. Similar to the mystical cat, the FEMA Notice can help you in more ways than one, but what exactly are its uses?

Here's everything you need to know about the FEMA Notice in No, I'm not a Human.

What is a FEMA Notice in No, I'm not a Human?

FEMA Officer taking Cat Lady and Twin, telling us "we'll handle the Visitors."
Screenshot by Destructoid

The FEMA Notice appears twice in a single No, I'm not a Human playthrough. First delivered by a FEMA Officer after taking a tenant off your hands, its instructions aren't particularly clear if you're not paying close attention to the Officer's words. While you can't inspect the Notice, its usage becomes apparent when you interact with your tenants.

The purpose of the Notice is to show FEMA who should be taken to quarantine next. It's not an item you have to use, but it's particularly helpful when you're after the more complicated endings.

How to use the FEMA Notice

Handing the Cat lady a FEMA Notice
Screenshot by Destructoid

You'll get the FEMA Notice in your second encounter with a FEMA Officer. The only other way to get one is by letting the burnt fireman in. This tenant almost always appears towards the middle-to-end portion of the game (day six onwards). You shouldn't haphazardly use the Notice unless you're certain who you're sending away is a Visitor; this way, you're a step closer to having only humans in the house by the 14th day. An easy target to use the Notice on is the Cat Lady, who must be let in on the fourth day if you want to unlock the basement and get the cat's help to ensure your tenants' survival each night.

The most important use for the FEMA Notice is when you need particular tenants not to be taken by FEMA (as Officers visit often). The cultists will drop by on the eighth day, where you're forced to babysit them. FEMA will demand two tenants leave with them on the 10th and 11th nights, making it difficult to keep the cultists around without being taken.

You then need a different Visitor in the house on both nights so that you can hand them a Notice (in the morning prior to FEMA's visit). It's risky to send away two Visitors in one go, as losing too many tenants to death or FEMA means the Super Imposter kills you if you're alone by the time he knocks. Therefore, two tenants who are always human should complete the Visitor-Human pair. The best picks for these are the thin man, burnt fireman, little girl, or sewn mouth (if they weren't previously taken by FEMA). Successfully protecting the cultists opens one of the 10 endings, making the FEMA Notice one of the most useful items in No, I'm not a Human.
