Fable Lands Lead Writer With Anna Megill, Senior Writer On Remedy's Control

fable

It was announced earlier this year that Microsoft's oddball series, Fable, would be returning in some form. What form that is actually taking is still something of a mystery, however, as there's been a swirl of contradicting rumors and little official information outside a few vague statements to be a guiding light to what this thing is actually going to be. It does have a lot of talent behind it, though, from a lot of different places. Today it seems they added one more in a key spot, too.

On her own Twitter, Anna Megill announced that she had landed the Lead Writer position on the project. Megill has been in the industry on various projects for nearly two decades. Her most recent work that many will no doubt know was, however, the acclaimed Control from Remedy Entertainment. She'll start her new position next year.

Fable, as of now, has no kind of official time table but it's planned to come to Xbox Series X/S and PC at some point in the future.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Reintroduced With The Ultimate Halo Experience Trailer

Halo The Master Chief Collection

Halo Infinite, the next entry in the ongoing saga of the Master Chief, was originally planned to be at the launch of Microsoft's latest consoles: the Xbox Series X and Series S. It was not to be, however, as the game was delayed and is now targeting Fall of next year. But there is a lot, and we do mean a lot, of Master Chief already on the system with The Master Chief Collection, and it seems Microsoft wants to get you reintroduced to the Chief.

A new trailer was released for the game, called The Ultimate Halo Experience. The game originally launched on Xbox One with Halo 1-4 and was somewhat infamous for having a lot of technical issues. In the years since, it has added games (Halo 3: ODST and Reach) and developer 343 Industries has polished the game to something of a shine. It just got its optimization update for the new consoles last month as well, meaning it is in the most prime condition its ever been in.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available now on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. Support is also not over for it, as other features are actively being talked about to add down the road.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – Sephiroth Out on December 22nd

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Sephiroth

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai recently went over what to expect from the game's next Challenger Pack, which is Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7. The Challenger Pack goes live on December 22nd and is purchasable standalone for $5.99 or as part of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2. But for those who can't wait, pre-ordering the Challenger Pack (or owning Fighters Pass Vol. 2) will allow for playing a special Sephiroth Challenge.

It's essentially a boss battle and clearing it will unlock Sephiroth, the nine new music tracks and the Northern Cave stage early. This can be done on any difficulty. Unlike Cloud, Sephiroth is touted as being a lighter character who can move very quickly. Utilizing Masamune, he can execute quick slashes and also has different spells to make life miserable for his opponents.

Due to being taller though, he might be caught by attacks that Cloud could potentially avoid. Along with all of the above, Challenger Pack 8 also adds a new Spirits Board based on Final Fantasy which has the likes of Aerith, Tifa and Barret available. The Game Awards 2020 Saw 83% Increase In Viewership Over Last Year

The Game Awards

Ever since it launched in 2014, The Game Awards has slowly turned into one of the biggest events in gaming, easily the most watched single one in the industry. It's managed to surpass individual (and in some cases, combined) viewers of E3, TGS and GDC. The awards themselves have largely been minimized, with many tuning in to see the latest trailers and reveals, with the show always having at least one major moment to keep you talking. This year was no different, in fact, it was even bigger.

As Creator and Host Geoff Keighley revealed on his official Twitter, this year's TGA saw a staggering 83% increase in viewership over TGA 2019. That equates to 83 million livestreams and 8.3 million concurrent viewers. He also posted a chart showing the pretty incredible growth from the first show back in 2014.

While that was the year the show did begin, some may not know it was an unofficial continuation of the Video Game Awards on Spike TV (now called The Paramount Network). When it was announced they would no longer host the show after the 2013 event, Keighley managed to get the resources together to launch The Game Awards and well, its success speaks for itself. The time and date for the 2021 show has not been announced as of yet, but there is sure to be one.

The Callisto Protocol Gets Extended Red Band Reveal Trailer

the callisto protocol

At this years The Game Awards we got the reveal for The Callisto Protocol. A game that is looking to be quite the intense horror affair and is also looking to be a spiritual successor to some degree to the beloved horror series, Dead Space (also, it's set 300 years in the future of the PUBG universe). It's going to be awhile before we see more of the game, but in the meantime we are getting to see more of what we already saw at that event.

An extended, "Red Band," version of the original reveal trailer has now been released and you can see it in full below. There's about 25 seconds of more footage here, mostly focused on the monster attack and extending its gruesomeness. There's also a bit more of a stinger at the end that shows what happens right after that monster attack.

The Callisto Protocol is set to release in 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. If you're curious about the differences between this trailer and the original, you can watch it through here to compare and contrast.

Microsoft Flight Simulator Has Reached Over 2 Million Players

microsoft flight simulator

Microsoft, as a platform holder and a publisher, has changed significantly over the last 7 years since the launch of the Xbox One. The company has now been more platform open than ever before, and more focused on services and subscriptions with their Game Pass initiative. It's also lead to them going back to some old properties, such as the 2020 edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator. It was a welcome return, and one that many are playing.

It was revealed earlier in the year that the game had surpassed 1 million sales by its developer despite launching day and date on Xbox Game Pass for PC. Microsoft has now confirmed that the game has passed 2 million players. While it's unclear how many more sales that is, since Microsoft has stopped revealing sales numbers, it's quite the feat. It's also worth nothing the game has not come to consoles just yet, either, which shows how impressive that is.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is available now on PC with a version of the game set to come to Xbox Series X/S sometime in Summer 2021. The game will also get VR support on December 23rd.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is currently available for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch.

Cris Tales – Synchro System Revealed in New Gameplay

Cris Tales

Cris Tales from SYCK and Dreams Incorporated may have been delayed to next year but it's shaping up to be a gorgeous role-playing game. In a new 15 minute extended gameplay overview, the developers talk about the various mechanics in the game. Check it out below.

Essentially, protagonist Crisbell has the ability to see the past, present and future at any given time. This can be used to change events in the past or future, influencing circumstances as she sees fit (though these decisions are never easy). In combat, this results in different benefits like, say, pouring water on an enemy's shield and then forwarding time to make it rust and thus break with attacks.

The gameplay overview also showcases the Synchro system wherein various team members can combine their skills in combat. It's a good way to get some additional damage and buffs in. Cris Tales is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, Stadia and Xbox Series X/S and will release in early 2021.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure Update Adds Online Multiplayer, Cross-Saves, and More

sackboy a big adventure

The Sumo Digital-developed Sackboy: A Big Adventure launched simultaneously on the PS5 and PS4 last month, bringing Sackboy out of the 2d sidescrollers he's starred in thus far and putting him front and centre in a charming 3D platformer. Though it hasn't been the biggest PS5 launch title, it's been received well by players and critics alike, and now, it's received a new update to add a number of major features to the game.

The biggest of these new additions is online multiplayer, which has been confirmed for some time now, which allows you to pair up with up to three other players beyond just local co-op in any of the game's levels. Notably, the game has also received new content to play through in the form of 10 new co-op levels.

Any progress you make here will carry over to your save once you jump back into single player, so you'll get to keep all the orbs you collect. Additionally, high scores within levels will be given to the entire team as a whole rather than a single player, so everything that all four players do will count towards that score.

Meanwhile, Sackboy: A Big Adventure has also added some crucial cross-gen features. For starters, you can now transfer your saves across PS4 and PS5 (it has to be done from within the game itself). Additionally, cross-gen cross-platform multiplayer is also possible, so you can play with others regardless of whether they're playing on PS5 or PS4.

In our review of the game, we called Sackboy: A Big Adventure "a delightful platformer that mostly does a great job despite playing a bit too easy most of the time." You can read our full review through here.
