Sackboy: A Big Adventure Received a Multiplayer Update Today
A new update has just been released for the PS4 and PS5 title Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The patch includes a new multiplayer mode that allows players to play with up to three friends.
Ned Waterhouse, Design Director over at Sumo Digital, detailed in the PlayStation Blog that ten new teamwork-based levels have also been added. The levels will be exclusive to multiplayer and there will be two new multiplayer stages in each of the game's five worlds.
There will be a bunch of new moves that players will be able to try out with their friends. Some will be of assistance while the others might be of annoyance. Some of the new actions will include, slapping, grabbing, and rolling into other players. Some co-op emotes, such as hugs and high-fives, have also been added that allows players to interact with their teammates.
Players will be able to keep their saved progress if they are helping out a friend on some levels. Once players return to their own adventure, their progress will be carried over to their local game.
Finally, PS4 and PS5 cross-play and cross-save functionality have been added to Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Players will be able to transfer their saved data directly through the "Extras" menu item in the pause menu. After, you will just need to follow the directions.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure is currently available for the PS4 and PS5. If you are interested in picking the game up, make sure to check out DualShockers' official review right here.

Among Us Coming To Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One in 2021
After getting a surprise announcement and release on the Nintendo Switch just a couple of days ago, it looks like one of this year's biggest hits, Among Us, will be coming to more consoles soon.
The deceitful party game, which up until a few days ago was exclusive to PC and mobile devices, is set to come to Xbox Game Pass for PC today and Microsoft has confirmed the fun won't stop there. In a tweet, they shared that the game will be coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles as well as Xbox Game Pass at some point in 2021, though they didn't share in what timeframe next year.
*pops out of vent*
Oops, we've been caught. @AmongUsGame comes to Xbox and @XboxGamePass in 2021!https://t.co/gH7wUVqmUM https://t.co/eEvRBV6c5e
— Xbox (@Xbox) December 17, 2020
Although the game only launched on the Nintendo Switch two days ago, developers Innersloth delightedly shared that it is already sitting pretty atop the eShop charts. In the tweet, they humbly thanked fans for their support in helping Among Us reach such lofty heights.
The game originally launched back in 2018, however, found major success this year as players looked to find different ways to connect with friends and family during the pandemic. The title's resurgence has proved unstoppable and it's no surprise that companies like Nintendo and Microsoft want to get involved. It wouldn't be a shock to see Sony announce a PS4 and PS5 release at some point soon.
During the game's surge in popularity, the developers announced they would be working on an Among Us 2, something which they later retracted in order to focus on improving the first game. The game is now starting to bear the fruits of the development team's labours as the next level, Airship, is due out soon.
Among Us has been so popular over the last few months that it has started to transcend the world of gaming. The title has, for some reason, become a very popular search on PornHub and has also been streamed by US politician AOC.

Control Senior Writer Joining Fable 4 Team as Lead Writer
Signs so far for the upcoming Fable title from Playground Games are looking good. The Fable 4 team has recently acquired a talented lead writer in the form of Anna Megill, who held a prominent role in the development of Control.
While you may not recognize her name, you're sure to recognize her work. Megill has been in game development for a whopping 16 years, working on games for ArenaNet, Arkane Studios, Nintendo, and Square Enix. However, her most recent work may e her most notable. Megill was a senior writer and narrative lead at Remedy Entertainment while the studio worked on Control.
Megill is leaving a position at The Division developer Massive Entertainment to join UK-based Playground Games. The team she is joining is already packed with talent from other renowned development studios. Playground Games has game dev veterans from Rocksteady, Rockstar, Ninja Theory and Gearbox Software on its team.
But even so, I wasn't sure this new Fable was right for me. I was like "Is this going to be just a bunch of medieval fart jokes?" But the team's story vision reassured and excited me. It's a PERFECT fit. I can't wait to get started
— Anna Megill (@cynixy) December 17, 2020
Microsoft revealed that it was producing another entry in the long-running Fable series at an Xbox games showcase this past July. No other details on the game, such as a release date or even what form it will take have been revealed.
On Twitter, Megill expressed her excitement for this position. "Fable holds a special place in my heart," wrote Megill. "It came out the year I started in gamedev, and it's the first game I played with a developer's eye." I am personally beyond excited to see what the writer on a twisted and strange game like Control can bring to the world of Fable 4.

DualShockers' Holiday Gift Guides 2020 — The Most Notable Collectibles and Merch to Cop
You're not a real gamer unless you are decked out in video game clothing or have gaming collectibles strewn all about your home, right? As such, it's important to ensure that you have as many gaming-related items as possible to ensure that your gamer license doesn't get revoked.
Collectibles and assorted gaming merchandise can come in all different shapes, sizes, and price ranges. Fortunately for you, we've got a handful of different ideas this year that will cover all of these bases and assist you with your own seasonal shopping just a bit.
Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros.
"Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. is definitely made for collectors, and if you're not one, then you won't find much fun here for very long. […] It really does looks great and Nintendo did a fantastic job retaining the retro style while bringing it into 2020 with some flair. It will fit into any retro fan's library as part of Mario's storied history and will assuredly prove to be a popular stocking stuffer this holiday season for that Nintendo lover in your life."
-Price: $49.99
Annapurna Interactive Deluxe Limited Edition for PS4
If you know someone who is a big fan of collecting physical games, this is one item this holiday season that you might want to give some serious attention. Publishing label Annapurna Interactive is releasing an 8-game collection of some of its most popular releases on PS4 in a sleek set of packaging. Two of the games, Telling Lies and Gorogoa, have also never been released in a physical format before until this collection. iam8bit is only making 2,000 versions of this bundle as well, meaning that it will surely be a sought after item for years to come.
-Price: $199.99
Ori Collector's Edition
Sticking with iam8bit products, perhaps the company's most notable collector's edition of the year is for Ori and the Blind Forest and Will of the Wisps. The bundle comes in a gorgeous box that contains not only both Ori installments but also includes a sketchbook, pin, various pieces of art, and digital codes to download the soundtrack for either title. It's also available across Switch, Xbox One, and PC. If you know someone who is a major fan of the Ori games, this is one collection that they'll surely fall in love with.
-Price: $149.99
Sonic the Hedgehog Face Mask
Even though 2020 is about to wrap up, we'll likely all still be wearing face masks out in public well into next year. As such, why not cop a Sonic the Hedgehog mask for those in your life this year? Even though this might be seen as a gag gift, this is one item that any potential recipients might get some real use out of. We might as well embrace the times we're living in, after all.
-Price: $14.95
Red Dead Redemption 2: Original Score Vinyl
For our money, Red Dead Redemption 2 boasts one of the best original scores of any game released over the past few years. If you know someone who shares that opinion and is a collector of vinyl, Rockstar's official double LP is worth a look. Boasting 24-songs in total, the RDR2 comes in an extremely nice set of packaging, with each vinyl also being entirely transparent, which is a cool touch. Best of all, this package isn't too expensive, either. This would surely be a great addition to the vinyl library of anyone that you might know this holiday season.
-Price: $29.99
Persona 5 Joker Statue
Okay, if you're really looking to put a dent in your bank account this year, here's one item that will do just that. Prime 1 Studio's Persona 5 Joker statue is one of the nicest looking collectibles we have seen this year. While it comes in at a gaudy $700 price tag, this build's quality is immaculate and contains a handful of customizable pieces. The only downside is that this statue won't arrive until late 2021 at the earliest. Still, if this is something you truly did buy for someone in your life this season, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to wait a bit.
-Price: $699
Banjo-Kazooie Statue
While we're talking about shattering your bank account for expensive statues, let's take a look at this Banjo-Kazooie model from First4Figures. Typically retailing for $429, this statue features the iconic bear and bird soaring through the air, with the base of the items being made up of Jiggies and Notes. Currently, if you want to get the item directly from First4Figures, you'll have to be placed on a waitlist, but if you're willing to pay a bit more, you should be able to snag it on Amazon and get it delivered before Christmas Day.
-Price: $429-$525
PlayStation Clothing/Merchandise
The PlayStation Gear storefront typically has a cool lineup of merch to buy, but it has recently gotten a whole new wave of items to coincide with the release of the PS5. Much of this includes new t-shirts, jackets, beanies, and other clothing options, but there are also some rad backpacks, bottles, and additional random items for sale. If you know a big PlayStation fan in your life, the chances are that you can't go wrong with most of what's available from this shop.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales Adidas Superstar Shoes
One of the cooler cross-promotional gaming items that has been released in recent memory comes with Adidas' new Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Superstar shoes. The real-life version of these kicks are identical to the ones that Miles himself wears in the recently released video game. The only negative with these sneakers is that Adidas has sold out of its initial stock, meaning that you cannot buy them for the retail price any longer unless a restock occurs. Luckily, the resale value of this pair isn't too high, meaning you won't have to break the bank if you're looking to pick these up for someone in your life.
-Price: $99-$200
Xbox Clothing/Merchandise
Of course, if we're going to highlight some of the cool new PlayStation merch, we also have to look at Xbox and some of the rad new items that it has released. The Xbox Gear store has let loose a lot of new clothing to line up with the release of the Xbox Series X, but it also has several other collectibles. Whether you're a fan of Halo, Gears of War, or just the Xbox brand as a whole, there are a ton of cool products you can pick up from this shop, all of which come in at pretty reasonable prices, too.

Action-Adventure
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
"Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a worthy follow-up to the previous installment, even if a lot of the core DNA has remained the same. Despite some rough edges, the experience as a whole is one that's hard to put down once you get entrenched. This proves to be doubly true if you're playing on PS5 and are really looking for a game that's going to show you what this next-gen leap is all about."
-Platforms: PS4, PS5
The Pathless
"At the end of the day, the traversal alone is enough for me to recommend The Pathless. It's just fun to get from place to place using your bow; everything else is just a bonus. The overall story is good with performances from Laura Bailey and Troy Baker, the different environments are vast and beautiful, and while the puzzles have a wide range of difficulty, they're still fun to figure out. It's just a shame that there's no synergy between each individual gameplay loop. The Pathless is absolutely worth your time if you're looking for a game with a sense of adventure and a rich atmosphere."
-Platforms: PS4, PS5, PC
Hades
"Hades is the latest and arguably finest entry in [Supergiant Games'] pantheon of exceptional video games. It's absolutely the most gameplay-focused and content-rich experience in their portfolio, and I've practically never found a dull moment within it. In every facet, Hades is an excellent video game, and one of the best roguelikes ever made."
-Platforms: PC, Switch
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
"Ori and the Will of the Wisps is an exceptional adventure that every Xbox One owner should play. Despite its technical failings, it is one of the best Metroidvanias I have played this generation (just behind The Messenger and Axiom Verge). Moon Studios' sequel is filled with moments of beauty both visually and in its storytelling."
-Platforms: Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Switch
RPG
Persona 5 Royal
"Persona 5 Royal is the upgraded version of the immensely popular JRPG that originally released in Japan back in 2016. With this definitive edition of the game comes a variety of new changes which include two new characters and Confidants, a brand new semester and Palace that culminates in two new endings, new gameplay mechanics, and reworked dungeons and boss battles. There are also a variety of new minigames, gameplay balance fixes, expanded character scenes, and so much more. While it might still share much of the same DNA as the original Persona 5, Atlus has packed P5R full of new content that is sure to delight newcomers and veterans of the original with a far more robust experience."
-Platforms: PS4
Final Fantasy VII Remake
"This is still one of the most excellently presented games I've ever experienced, and with a few tweaks for the next installment, that excellence might extend to gameplay and story too. Whatever misgivings I may have going into future releases, it's undeniable that this was an enjoyable 42 hours marred by a single bad one. Even so, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is arguably the best non-MMO Final Fantasy game released in a very long time. Despite my qualms, it's been a welcome Reunion."
-Platforms: PS4
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
"For every minor gripe or negative I came across, there were a dozen positives that I could gush about for hours. Quite frankly, I love Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Everything about the heart and soul of the Yakuza series is here in full force, and the only time it ever really makes me stop smiling is to shed manly tears. Ichiban Kasuga is a fantastic protagonist, and his party is full of fascinating characters in their own right. This is a great story, a delightful open-world city to play around in, and a hilariously fun recontextualization of JRPG tropes in a real-world setting. It all just serves as another reminder that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios are still at the top of their game and that the Yakuza franchise is really something special."
-Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC
Shooter
DOOM Eternal
"DOOM Eternal might very well be the most intense video game I have ever played. Every single shootout that I experienced in my time with it demanded my full attention, but that attention was well-earned. Even though it doesn't quite stick the landing, what's included here is more than worthy of admiration, praise, and perhaps most importantly, your time."
-Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Stadia
Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War
"Altogether, this year's entry in the Call of Duty franchise is as solid it gets. It's not bad, and it's certainly not fantastic like last year's Modern Warfare. Instead, it's par for the course as Call of Duty games go; a great first-person shooter that just about anyone can spend way, way too many hours playing."
-Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC
Cyberpunk 2077
Despite not releasing until next month on December 10, Cyberpunk 2077 is no doubt going to be one of the biggest games of this holiday season. Combining the first-person viewpoint with the RPG elements that made developer CD Projekt Red a household name with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077 looks to give you a lot of bang for your buck and should certainly take quite a while to see all that it has to offer. Plus, the game also features Keanu Reeves in a prominent role, so you know that whoever you end up gifting this one to will find enjoyment with it.
-Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Stadia
VR
Half-Life: Alyx
"As an experience built from the ground up for immersion and creating a fully-realized world, Half-Life: Alyx is truly a game-changer for VR. This is not merely 'Half-Life VR,' but an incredibly crafted game that shows how VR can be used to elevate more in-depth narratives to even greater potential. And, as the game goes on, you'll see how it becomes a crucial part of the Half-Life universe. It's been a long 13 years, and yes, it may not be Half-Life 3, but I can assure you that Half-Life: Alyx is entirely worth the wait and is an experience worth seeing for yourself, if only to find out what comes next."
-Platforms: PC (Oculus Rift, Quest, Valve Index, HTC Vive)
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners
Placing you in the center of the iconic world of The Walking Dead, Saints & Sinners will have you shooting, chopping, and shoving hordes of zombies out of your way in the pursuit of survival. With an enjoyable story and a horde mode that will allow you to rack up as many zombie kills as possible, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners is one of the most exciting VR games you can pick up right now.
-Platforms: PS4 (PSVR), PC (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Valve Index), Oculus Quest
Iron Man VR
"Despite some technical issues and a decent story, Iron Man VR is a great game that makes you feel like Iron Man in the best way possible."
-Platforms: PS4 (PSVR)
Platformer/Family
Fall Guys
"Fall Guys is absolutely the game fans of shows like Takeshi's Castle, Ninja Warrior, and It's a Knockout have been dreaming about. It's like the team at Mediatonic took those shows, added a wacky color palette, and then just mixed it all together until they could bake a cake made out of pure bliss. Even in defeat, I always have this doofy grin on my face. Sitting here typing out this review, all I can think about is playing more Fall Guys."
-Platforms: PS4, PC
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
"There's so much to love about Sackboy: A Big Adventure. The levels are so inventive, creative, and fun to play. The game is filled with so much content, including levels that continue to unlock once you've completed the main story. There's also the ability to purchase costumes, re-do missions to get a higher score, and so much more. Levels are filled with so much variety yet each one fits into each world so well. […] While there are already so many great PlayStation 5 games to play, Sackboy: A Big Adventure is one you shouldn't sleep on."
-Platforms: PS4, PS5
Super Mario 3D All-Stars
"There's no denying that a few improvements would have been nice and some more archival footage would make Super Mario 3D All-Stars feel like more of a celebration, but each one of these games is still a masterpiece and that's what it's all about. The fact that in 2020, we can play three of Nintendo and Mario's best titles in one handy collection, both at home and on the go, is wonderful. I for one am extremely happy this collection exists."
-Platforms: Switch
Strategy/Simulation
13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
Part strategy game, part visual novel, and part adventure title, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim tells a story that spans a number of different characters within an encapsulating sci-fi world. Despite being hard to say much about without spoiling what makes it so great, 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is the perfect game for those looking to scratch their strategy itch while also bearing witness to one of the year's best stories in gaming.
-Platforms: PS4
Gears Tactics
"Despite playing in a completely different style compared to the core Gears games, Gears Tactics still feels remarkably in line with the rest of the series and is a thrilling, worthwhile experience that Gears fans and strategy game veterans will enjoy, while being completely accessible to newcomers. If you consider Gears as chocolate and XCOM as peanut butter, Gears Tactics is how they meet: a combination of ingredients you've likely had before, but together, they just work so damn well."
-Platforms: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Crusader Kings III
"Crusader Kings III is a game that you become completely engrossed in as you play, and obsess over when you're not. I found myself constantly playing out scenarios and strategies for my kingdom, dreaming of the moment that I unite an entire country under my powerful rule, and celebrating the highs while cursing the lows of noble life. Even if you're not a strategy game fan, the person-focused approach to the genre allows for players to build more intimate relationships with your family, allies, and greater kingdom. Not only is it fun, but it's impactful and the experience stays with you long after you close down the game after a long session."
-Platforms: PC
Sports & Racing
Dirt 5
"Dirt 5 is a content-rich, diverse arcade racing game that is unlike anything else among racing titles this year. Codemasters' new direction in the Dirt franchise might not be what veteran off-road enthusiasts would've expected. Still, Dirt 5 accomplishes its mission of expanding to a broader audience with engaging arcade-y gameplay, and sets the series off on an exciting new path."
-Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Stadia
Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions
"In short, Captain Tsubasa is a simple tactics-adjacent sports game with characters you'll quickly grow to love. Nothing here is particularly groundbreaking, but it is so much fun seeing Japan's Golden Generation grow into tomorrow's stars. […] If you're looking for a game that's easy to get into and hard to put down, Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions is as good as any."
-Platforms: PS4, Switch, PC
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2
"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 isn't a simulation, unlike most modern skateboarding games we're seeing today, but instead, it's something fun, enjoyable in short bursts or long sessions. It's a throwback to the past in a way that hasn't erased its charm and legacy; it instead expands on that and becomes one of the finest remakes to come out of 2020 while keeping its original roots intact, but to modern standards."
-Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC

DualShockers' Holiday Gift Guides 2020 — The Best Hardware and Accessories for Big Spenders
Gaming is a hobby that can bring about enjoyment at a variety of different price ranges, especially as we head into the holiday season. Picking up an indie title might only cost you around $10, but you can then drop countless hundreds on larger items that can open up the types of games you play.
Well, if you're truly looking to go all-out with a potential gift for the video game fan in your life this year, there are lots of different ways that you can spend your hard-earned money. Here are our top choices when it comes to hardware and accessories you should have your eye on in 2020, including new consoles, gear, and much more.
PlayStation 5
Yeah, this is an obvious selection, but it's one that's worth mentioning. The PlayStation 5 is surely going to be one of the year's most desirable gifts and, in our own estimation, it's definitely worth the price of admission. The only problem here is that the PS5 is likely going to be extremely hard to get ahold of. That said, if you can lock down a unit for yourself, you'll surely make someone's Christmas morning that much brighter.
-Price: $499, $399
Xbox Series X/S
Of course, if we're going to mention one next-gen console, we're going to also suggest the other. Much like the PS5, both the Xbox Series X and S are likely going to be one of the holiday season's most-pursued gaming items, which means you might have trouble finding either one. While you might need to know in advance which iteration that the gift's potential suitor might prefer, either console is fantastic in its own right.
-Price: $499, $299
Xbox Elite Controller Series 2
If you cannot get your hands on either the Xbox Series X or S this year, then Microsoft's Elite Series 2 Controller is a great fallback option for the Xbox (or PC) fan in your life. Even though it comes in at a pretty steep price, the second revision of the Xbox Elite Controller stands as one of the nicest controllers ever made. Plus, it's compatible across both the Xbox One and new Series X/S models. Even if the Xbox lover in your life isn't making the jump to next-gen just yet, this is an item that will surely improve their gaming experience quite a bit.
-Price: $179
Oculus Quest 2
The realm of virtual reality has arguably never been more accessible, and much of that is thanks to Oculus's new revision of its Quest headset. The Oculus Quest 2 is an all-in-one VR device that doesn't need any additional wires or camera in order to be utilized. This second iteration of the Quest doesn't just improve on the internals found in the first model, but it's also coming in at a drastically lower price. Even though you'll need a Facebook account in order to set it up, the Quest 2 is the best entry point into VR at the moment and could be a worthy present to anyone who has had an interest in the space for quite some time.
-Price: $299
EON Super 64
If the person you're shopping for this year isn't enamored with new pieces of tech, then the Super 64 might be the perfect gift if they're a fan of retro games. In short, the Super 64 is a small device that allows the classic Nintendo 64 to be played on modern HDTV setups. It plugs directly into the back of any N64 and then allows for an HDMI cable to be run from the console to the TV with a picture quality that is better than anything that has been seen before from the platform. Assuming the person you're looking to buy a gift for still has an N64 at their disposal, this is a fantastic item that will give their retro machine a new lease on life.
-Price: $149
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit
Nothing is more enjoyable than having some new toys to play with on Christmas Day, and Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is likely the item that will allow you and your loved ones to have the purest fun in 2020. Taking the tried and true format of Mario Kart and combining it with a real-world RC car, Home Circuit is sure to be a blast for gamers of any age. While you will need to already own a Nintendo Switch to play it, this is one item that should provide a lot of laughs and enjoyment, especially if you have pets.
-Price: $99
Logitech G Pro X Wireless Headset
Logitech is one of the leading manufacturers in the world when it comes to gaming accessories, and the company's latest headset might be its best iteration yet. The G Pro X Wireless Headset is a sleek, well-built item that contains around 20-hours of battery life on a single charge. It's also a step-up from Logitech's previous PRO Gaming headset and boasts improved surround sound headphones with some incredibly comfortable cushioning. If you know of someone who needs a new gaming headset, this is one of the top options available right now.
-Price: $199
Secretlab TITAN 2020 Series Gaming Chair
Secretlab has become one of the most synonymous names tied with gaming chairs and there's a very good reason for that. The company's newest TITAN 2020 Series model is one of the best gaming chairs available and won't only improve your posture, but it will make the simple act of sitting down a joy. While you'll definitely have to break the bank open to cop one of these, the person you gift it to will surely thank you for years to come.
-Price: $459 ($389 for Black Friday)
AndaSeat Fnatic Edition Gaming Chair
Speaking of top-of-the-line gaming chairs, AndaSeat's newest Premium chair is sure to keep your butt comfy for long periods of time. Built out of some of the sturdiest materials around which includes PVC leather, the AndaSeat Premium gaming chair is sure to last you for years and is the perfect chair for either simple office work or long gaming sessions. Not to mention, the chair is specifically on sale this week for Black Friday, meaning that now might be the perfect time to pick one up for someone special in your life.
-Price: $449 (10% off through November 30 with discount code 'THANKANDA')
Nintendo Switch Mario Kart 8 Bundle
Last but not least; yeah, we've got to suggest the Nintendo Switch because it continues to be the hottest gaming item around. After essentially being sold out all year long as a result of manufacturing issues that stemmed from the pandemic, Nintendo is looking to let loose a new lineup of Switch models this holiday season with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe packed in for free. The bundle is set to become available on November 25 and is the perfect entry point for anyone who is still looking to get their hands on Nintendo's current console.
-Price: $299

FIFA 21 — How to Complete the Jesus Navas Player SBC
Today is the final day of FUT Freeze in its current form. The FIFA 21 promo will continue, but it looks like it will also be partnered with a new batch of Road to the Final cards. Will there be even more changes waiting for us on a Friday? Only time will tell. For now, players have a brand new player SBC to complete. Today, it's Jesus Navas making the move from right back to center back. Check it out.

Another #FUTFreeze Squad Building Challenge Player is now available in #FUT21 pic.twitter.com/2G48DH7ntz
— EA SPORTS FIFA (@EASPORTSFIFA) December 17, 2020
In my opinion, EA has really lost the plot with this SBC. Navas is incredibly short for the position and his stats don't really make up for it. That comes doubly so when you realize how many great options La Liga already has at the position. I truly don't understand why you'd complete this at this price point. They're asking around 150,000 coins for a player that is easily replaced. I would steer clear. But if you have to have him, see below for solution inspiration.
Instead of doing this, take some time to do your daily SBC challenge and this week's Marquee Matchups. You might actually get something worth your time in those if luck is on your side. FUT Freeze has slowly gone downhill since that great Marquinhos SBC on day one. Hopefully, they can turn it back around with whatever they drop tomorrow.
FIFA 21 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Make sure to check back tomorrow to see what's next. We know it's going to be some sort of combination between Freeze and RTTF, but they could have something up their sleeve. Fingers crossed for some quality content.

The Callisto Protocol Returns to Dead Space Creator Glen Schofield's Horror Roots
The moment that we saw a Dead Space looking RIG on the back of a character's neck in the trailer for The Callisto Protocol, it was clear what was coming. After the trailer debuted at The Game Awards last week, Geoff Keighley confirmed suspicions by talking to Striking Distance Studio head and Dead Space creator Glen Schofield. To the excitement of many, Schofield announced that he would be returning to his roots with The Callisto Protocol, a single-player, third-person, story-driven survival horror game.
From Striking Distance Studios and the creators of Dead Space, comes The Callisto Protocol – a terrifying, story-driven, survival horror game set in a prison colony on Jupiter's dead moon Callisto. Coming 2022. #CallistoTheGame pic.twitter.com/k9b8KkfpXB

Schofield opened up about the path to making the game in an interview with Polygon when he said, "I spent the last 10 years making Call of Duty, which has been really good to me. I really loved making Advanced Warfare because it was a little in the future. But it was time to get back to something that I just really love. And sci-fi horror is where it's at for me."
Building a studio around him for The Callisto Protocol, Schofield hired Dead Space veterans Steve Papoutsis, Scott Whitney, and Christopher Stone and has confirmed that over 25 developers have joined him from Visceral Games and Sledgehammer Games since the project was greenlit.
While little is known about the game, we do know that it's slated for a 2022 release and that it's set in a prison on Jupiter's second-largest moon, Callisto. We also know that it's set in the PlayerUnknown's BattleGrounds universe in the year 2320 as Schofield told IGN.
Schofield's goal for The Callisto Protocol is simple. During his time slot in The Game Awards, he made it clear when he said, "our goal is to make the single most scariest game [sic] for PCs and consoles."

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Will Now Sell Players XP Boosts
Assassin's Creed Valhalla has been out for a month now. Out of the gate, it was met with solid critical reviews and great sales. And now that we're past the point where most reviewers and outlets have moved on, Ubisoft has made the decision to let players buy an XP boost. This kind of thing has been in Assassin's Creed games previously; however, it's weird that they've waited until now to release these boosts.
Some might remember games like Crash Team Racing who rode high review scores to big sales. Then, they hit the community with scummy, post-launch microtransactions. Importantly, this let Activision skirt the ESRB to some degree, as many parents bought the game not knowing these predatory microtransactions were coming.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is not nearly as bad because they did allow you to buy cosmetic items before this update. So, it's not like they're Trojan-horsing microtransactions into something that shipped without them. That said, I'll always balk at games letting you buy an XP boost. Whether it's true or not, it gives the impression that normal progression is being slowed down to entice me to spend some cash.
Now, it's important to note that Game Informer was the first to spot this. They then reached out to Ubisoft to ask that same question. The answer they got back says that XP rates haven't been changed. Instead, Ubisoft just wants to give players the option to quickly get to the post-launch content and seasonal events they'll be running.
Hopefully, that's true. Otherwise, this is yet another scummy move from a company that's made too many missteps to count this year. If handled well, these can be a boon for players who don't have the time they used to. So, even while I actively push back on all microtransactions, I'm happy that things like this allow those players the opportunity to enjoy their favorite games at their pace. It just shouldn't come at the expense of players who don't shell out extra.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Star Renegades Gets Huge Free Winter Update on PC
Star Renegades launched on PC back in September before hitting the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One last month. The super tactical strategy RPG has a gorgeous array of environments to explore and a range of great systems to keep players interested. While there's already plenty of challenge within the game, developers Massive Damage have released a free update just in time for the holidays.
The update contains a range of new content including a brand new, more difficult planet, a handful of new adversaries and two new behemoths.
The new planet, named Prycon, is a frigid snowy world that is "far more dangerous and not for the weak-hearted." On the new planet, players will come into contact with three new adversaries. Tempest, who can control the planet's climate to benefit his team, Shivver, who is a "cold-hearted assassin" and Ogre, who is described as "one of the toughest adversaries the Imperium has ever created".
The two new behemoths added within the update are known as Abomination and Siren and between them are likely to pose a huge threat to your band of rebels.
We really enjoyed the game, scoring it a 9/10 in our review, saying:
"Star Renegades is, at its core, a tactical rogue-lite RPG that's laden with well thought out systems, a varied cast and a beautiful world. It's an addictive foray across a range of planets in which you lead a bunch of misfits into battle against malevolent enemy forces. It's a thinker's game; a game where you need meticulous planning and a well considered approach in each battle, and I had a blast with it."
