Avowed is the mysterious next game from The Outer Worlds developer Obsidian. It was revealed with the help of a CG trailer last year, which made it look like the studio's answer to Bethesda's Skyrim. Now, according to new information, it is that and so much more.

A new Windows Central report says that the first-person action RPG will feature a number of distinct classes and playstyles. Some of Avowed's systems, such as dual-wielding, are inspired by Skyrim.

Like the Bethesda RPG, you'll be free to equip different weapons on each hand. You could go with a sword or dagger in one, and a staff (or just your hand) in the other for magic spells. Some powerful spells require a two-handed staffs.

As you can see in the trailer above it's going for a hacker / cyperpunk vibe in the 'not-so-distant' future; you can see some of its Steam description below.

The best New World tank build – sword and shield setup

If you're looking for the best tank build in New World, then here's how to build the ideal loadout using a sword and shield. The sword is currently the only weapon in New World that can be used with a shield - although the sword is fairly weak compared to other hefty New World weapons, it can be used to build a highly defensive tanky loadout for both PvE and PvP.

It's important that you equip your sword with a carnelian gem - this provides a taunting perk for your weapon, used alongside the Shield Bash and Defiant Stance in the mastery defender tree. The build is made up of both defender and swordmaster abilities, and although the sword provides strength attributes, it's best to scale up in both dexterity and constitution to withstand damage.

These tank builds are used to defend and mitigate damage so other party members can deal damage, so they're best paired with DPS builds and a life staff healing build. Take note of the abilities that slow enemies, as the tank particularly excels in crowd control, and AoE damage can be used to maximise your efficiency. So here are the best New World tank builds using a sword and shield for both PvE and PvP.

League of Legends devs are switching off /All Chat to battle toxicity

League of Legends patch 11.21 is just around the corner, with the incoming update due to bring a batch of new Dragonmancer skins, balance changes, and more to the live battlegrounds next week. Riot Games has now announced that another, significant update coming with the patch is the removal of the MOBA game's cross-team chat feature, /All Chat.

"In patch 11.21, we're disabling /All Chat in matchmade queues," the studio announces in a blog post, with the reason behind this being the reported increase in verbal abuse this year. "While /All Chat can be the source of fun social interaction between teams, as well as some good-hearted banter, right now negative interactions outweigh the positives," the developer explains. "From what we've been seeing, All Chat's really heavy on negative interactions and doesn't have that much positive at this point, unfortunately," game director Andrei 'RiotMeddler' van Roon further explains on Reddit.

It's worth noting that this is just a temporary removal for now. The studio says it'll be evaluating the impact of /All Chat being switched off on rates of penalties and reports of verbal abuse, and look at surveys and direct feedback from the community, too.

New World patch makes it harder to flip a territory into a conflict state

New World's server transfer functionality isn't here just yet, but the MMORPG has a new update to lay more groundwork for it while adding tweaks and bug fixes. One of the main changes relates to faction missions and the effort it takes to flip a territory into a conflict state.

Amazon Games has adjusted the rates of influence gain so bringing another faction's land into battle will continue to "require significant effort over time". The amount of influence an attacking faction accrues over time has been significantly reduced due to a bug causing it to increase much faster than intended. Defending factions have also had their influence decline lowered to bring things into a better balance.

We also have heaps of bug fixes. The devs have fixed an issue where the tier three fishing treasure chest wouldn't fight back after being hooked, so, you know, prepare for that. Quite handily, Amazon has also fixed an issue where you could be charged the entire cost of an item stack in a different settlement your faction owns.

League of Legends patch 11.21 notes – Dragonmancer skins, Syndra VFX update, /All Chat disabled

The nights grow darker and the air chillier as we make our way towards the end of League of Legends' 2021 patch schedule. League of Legends patch 11.20 has sailed onto the MOBA game's live battlegrounds and its follow-up has now hit the PBE for its fortnight of testing. So, let's see what's in store for League of Legends patch 11.21, shall we?

If you've been keeping a close eye on League's Twitter channels, you've probably had an early peek at the batch of new skins headed its way with 11.21. This patch is all about the Dragonmancer alternate universe, with new styles for Kai'Sa, Karma, Thresh, Volibear, and Yasuo on the way. The latter two are particularly special, with Volibear getting a Prestige Edition, while Yasuo's two skins are legendary variants, bringing new voiceovers, as well as new animations, VFX, SFX, and more. You can check all of these out in the New Champion Skins section below.

Elsewhere, we've got a VFX update coming up for The Dark Sovereign, Syndra with 11.21. "Similar to the previous VFX updates we've made in the past (Ziggs, Zilean, Malzahar, etc), we're working on updates to the visual effects (VFX) of champions whose spell effects are in need of some love," senior visual effects artist Riot Sirhaian explains. "Our aim is to get their VFXs to current League standards and improve gameplay clarity. This time, it's Syndra's turn, for 11.21's PBE patch!"

What are the best upcoming games to keep an eye on this year and the next? Hope, anticipation, agony, and elation - it's the endless cycle of emotions we go through during the annual PC release schedule.

The best New World hatchet build for PvP and PvE

Looking for the best New World hatchet builds? Amazon's new game moves away from the traditional class system found in other MMOs - instead, you have two slots to equip any New World weapon you like, which you can swap between at any time to rack up weapon experience points for every foe you defeat.

As you level up your weapons, you assign mastery points, unlocking powerful abilities and buffs to increase your potency on the battlefield. Each weapon also scales off particular attributes like strength or intelligence, so working out a combination that synergises well is important. The hatchet scales primarily off strength, but also dexterity - this means there's plenty of flexibility when it comes to customising a New World hatchet build.

The hatchet is a particularly formidable weapon due to the Berserk ability, which grants you a substantial attack damage boost, and can be upgraded to increase your movement speed, give you massive health regeneration, and grant immunity to crowd control. Here are the best New World hatchet builds for PvP and PvE.

EPOS H6Pro review – a pricey but versatile gaming headset

EPOS hasn't been around long, but the Demant and Sennheiser fledgling is already making waves within the gaming accessory scene. While the fresh-faced company hasn't got the same level of brand recognition as Sennheiser, products like the EPOS H3 are a testament to the company's ability to provide great audio solutions within the gaming PC space. The gaming brand's latest headset entry, the H6Pro, reinforces EPOS's dedication to peripheral quality. The question is, does the H6Pro do enough to justify its existence and price?

The EPOS H6Pro is far from being the cheapest set of gaming cans on the market, coming in at $179/£149. As a result, the headset's price tag actually bills it against feature-packed competitors like Logitech's G733, a wireless, RGB clad setup, a slightly cheaper headset that's arguably more flashy than EPOS's wired offering.

That said, simplicity is one of the EPOS H6Pro's biggest strengths, and its minimalist approach to gaming audio facilitates a reliable and versatile experience that doesn't rely on fancy features or eye-catching aesthetics.

After the initial release back in July, No Longer Home from Humble Grove and Fellow Traveller has launched the Linux version. Funded on Kickstarter back in 2018, the original plan was to have Linux support so it's good to see it land.

Based upon the real life experiences of the developer, where they were forced apart so they decided to stay in touch and make a game together. Here's what the story entails: "Bo and Ao are graduating university and preparing to leave the flat they've lived in together for a year. Thanks to visa limitations, Ao is forced to return to Japan, leaving Bo in England. Disillusioned by post-educational life and shoved aside by a government who doesn't want them there, both are trying to come to terms with their uncertain futures. And deep under their South London flat, something grows..."

Petal Crash Online is the free update to the original Petal Crash, a block-matching game where you push blocks around and smash them together to score points. It's pretty great actually. A genre of games that isn't overly popular on PC but this is easily one of the best.

This new online mode was first launched on itch.io as a separate game but folks on Steam now have it free as an update download with it now giving you the option to play the original or the online mode when you launch it. The online client was built ground the ground-up to support rollback net-code for nicely synced matches. From the announcement:

Petal Crash Online features all the gameplay modes of the base game, including Tug-of-war, Trash Attack, Clear Contest, and Co-op (complete with rankings!) - but it also features custom rules beyond those available in the board game, such as board size, number of block colors (up to 6!) and even game-changing "chaos options" such as pushable garbage blocks and "tilt controls".

Every character in Petal Crash is available in Petal Crash Online from the start, even the hidden and unlockable ones, and all characters feature a greatly expanded color palette and long list of costumes. Pick your favorite character, costume, and player color to give yourself an instantly recognizable signature look!
