Electronic Arts and FIFA are in a bit of a cost dispute, according to a New York Times report stating contract renewal talks have stalled.
With EA's current 10-year contract with FIFA set to expire after the 2022 World Cup, it seems the stalled negotiations over EA's ability to use FIFA and FIFA World Cup branding boils mainly down to money.
According to the report, FIFA wants more than double from what EA currently pays. Double would mean EA would have to pay the organization $1 billion for every World Cup cycle which takes place every four years. Currently, organization earns $150 million from EA for the FIFA license.
Arknights is a popular strategy RPG game that frequently hosts limited events. Players who participate in these events can earn rewards such as furniture and outfits. However, event reruns are a little different and yield Intelligence Certificates instead of the usual rewards. If you're curious about this unique currency, you're in the right place. While […]

Binge, the video game-focused entertainment streaming platform that will launch in 2022, is working on a live-action adaptation of System Shock.
This adaptation will steam exclusively on Binge as a series and is being produced with help from Nightdive Studios. According to Deadline, Nightdive has owned the rights to System Shock since purchasing it from the now-defunct Looking Glass Studios in 2012.
More specifically, Nightdive Studios founder Stephen Kick and director of business development Larry Kuperman will be executive producers for the series. Allan Ungar, who directed the fan-made Uncharted short film featuring Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake, is Binge's chief content officer and will produce the series.
"I've always believed that a live-action adaptation of System Shock would be the perfect medium to retell the harrowing story of Citadel Station and its rogue AI that subjects the crew to unimaginable horror," Kick said. "We're very excited to see the talented team at Binge bring System Shock to life in horrifyingly real and new ways."
Ungar told Deadline that Binge believes System Shock helped redefine what it means to play an FPS and that this series will do right by it and that genre.
As noted by Deadline, System Shock joins a lineup of other video game live-action series adaptations in the works at Binge. The platform is also working on a live-action series based on Ubisoft's Driver.
System Shock is a 1994 game developed by Looking Glass Studios that helped pave the way for franchises like BioShock, Dishonored, and more. It's about a rogue AI named SHODAN that essentially takes over a space station and reprograms/mutates everything aboard the station to kill you.
Do you think System Shock needs a live-action adaptation? What other video games would you like to see adapted for television? Let us know in the comments below!
Switch owners who are subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online can now play The Jackbox Party Pack 6 in its entirety for free for a limited time.
This quirky, multiplayer party game collection is now available as the latest offering in Nintendo's Game Trials series. As we explained earlier today thanks to Europe's upcoming trial, these limited-time events let Switch Online subscribers download and play a full game while the offer is live, without any progression restrictions like your typical demo.
In the Party Game Hall of Fame, Gang Beasts is one of the OG big dogs, alongside Nidhogg, Jackbox, and Overcooked. Gang Beasts is a chaotic, wonky physics brawler that relies on the utter incomp-itude of its players to create mirth and merriment, and much like a massive chocolate cake or a puppy, it's always been a huge success whenever we've pulled it out at parties.
It's strange, then, that it's taken such a long time to come to the Nintendo Switch. It was out in Early Access for years, beginning in 2014, and chances are that if you've played it, it may well have been that EA version. Four years after its official release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, it's finally reached the Switch — which we'd argue is the home of party games. (Of course we'd say that, though.)
Psynoix has announced that Batman will be making a grand return to Rocket League just in time for Halloween, bringing new Event Challenges, cars, items and more along for the ride.
DC's legendary hero will headline the game's annual Haunted Hallows Event which kicks off again tomorrow, 14th October. It'll introduce Batman Super-Villain themed items, a Batman-themed Rumble Limited Time Mode, the return of three iconic Batmobiles, a new Arena variant, and those Event Challenges we mentioned. Here are the details you need:
It is clear Nintendo is planning and developing its successor to the Nintendo Switch as development and planning generally begins in earnest once the launch model is out the door. Bloomberg is one publication which has detailed a more powerful Switch system which some believe will either be a Nintendo Switch Pro and others believe […]
Sometimes, I want the gritty fantasy storytelling of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt without dealing with hundreds of hours of content or an open world map. Xuan Yuan Sword 7, the latest entry in an action roleplaying series that has been a cornerstone of Chinese gaming for almost 30 years, scratches that itch for me. But…
Last week EA hinted that it might be renaming its massively popular FIFA series. Now we know why. According to a new report by The New York Times, the International Federation of Association Football is asking the sports publishing giant to pay $1 billion for exclusive rights to the FIFA brand going forward.
Arkane's recent and well-regarded immersive sim isn't the only death loop of the fall. Thanks to a rare autosave bug in Far Cry 6 that spawns players milliseconds before a death, some players have found themselves stuck in an unbreakable feedback loop, with no apparent way to break the cycle.
On Monday, publisher Raw Fury announced a new first-look deal with dJ2 Entertainment for adapting their publishing catalogue into film and television series. And in the same moment, we've just heard word of a live-action version of the classic action-adventure, System Shock.
The spooky season is truly upon us. Rainbow Six Siege, PUBG, Warframe, Fortnite - the list of the biggest and best PC games getting into the Halloween spirit goes on. Now, Psynoix has unveiled its plans for Rocket League's own October bash, with the game's Haunted Hallows event kicking off tomorrow and bringing Batman, a themed limited-time mode, and more along for the ride.
Rocket League Halloween - the 2021 edition - features a collaboration with Warner Brothers and DC Comics to bring a lot of Batman-themed stuff to the game. First up, there are new Haunted Hallows event challenges that'll offer unlockable supervillain-style items like some Joker and "Gotham's finest" decals, Harley Quinn wheels and topper, a boost themed on Poison Ivy, and so on. Rocket League's Rumble game mode is getting some tweaks to turn it into a Gotham City Rumble, with power-ups now being Batman (and Batman baddie) themed. This restyling lets players use the Joker's boxing glove, Harley's signature hammer (which swaps in for the boot), and Poison Ivy's vines, which replace the mode's grappling hook.
Elsewhere, the game's getting a new limited-time arena - a Gotham Night variant of Beckwith Park - which has been hijacked by Gotham City's supervillains, as its theme reflects.
Want to know how to unlock the Haunted Lost Sectors in Destiny 2? October is the month in which things tend to get very spooky indeed, and often, games have month-long events to celebrate. This year, an eerie new Destiny 2 mission playlist has appeared, and the rewards for completing certain tasks include a whole bunch of treats.
There are a few things you need to do in order to access the Haunted Lost Sectors playlist. Thankfully, this time around it shouldn't be a massive chore to access the missions, and you can get on with farming some Destiny 2 spectral pages to prepare for your first trip inside these missions, where you can redeem them for manifested pages to spend on goodies.
To get you started as quickly as possible, here are the steps you need to complete to unlock the Haunted Lost Sectors in Destiny 2. Speaking of Lost Sectors, if you're curious, you can also find out what the Destiny 2 Legendary Lost Sector is today.
Spooky month is upon us, so according to tradition it's time for obscure slasher movie marathons, ghoulish Twitter usernames, and pumpkin spice foisted upon all of your food and drink favourites. God help us all.
In the game industry this loosely translates to browsing list features about the best horror games - oh look at that, we've got one, too - and spending more trying to choose which middling '00s splatterfest to replay than you'll actually spend playing it. Of course you could try a new game instead, perhaps a shiny upcoming indie game? We've been spelunking in the depths of Steam's upcoming releases tab to plunder Lovecraftian first-person shooters with comic book visuals, pictorial point-and-click adventure games, hack-and-slash mech games, deck-building roguelikes about ritual sacrifice, and much more.
We've cast the net far and wide, so there's a little something for everyone here. Similarly, none of our picks are themed around Halloween, but you'll still find plenty of horror inflected indies on this list in case you're looking for something seasonal.
A great keyboard is arguably key to a great gaming PC experience, especially if you're into competitive FPS games. While many of the best gaming keyboards feature wireless connectivity, there's something to be said about the reliability of a good, old fashioned wired connection, provided that your gaming desk cable management is on point. So, if you're in the market for a new clicky-clacky companion and not fussed about cutting cords, you'll want to check out the Razer Blackwidow Elite over on Amazon, which is currently going under $100.
That's right, Razer's premium, RGB-clad gaming keyboard is currently available on Amazon US for $99.99, 40% off its original MSRP of $169.99. Not only does this keyboard feature customisable macro buttons and a pleasing digital dial, but it's also armed with Razer's Yellow switches, which it claims are the quickest for PC gaming. Naturally, such a big saving means you could also potentially pick up one of Razer's best gaming mouse pairings, like the Basilisk X Hyperspeed.
If you reside in the UK, you can also snag a great deal on Razer's Blackwidow Elite over on Amazon UK, with a 22% discount bringing things down to £140.12. This specific version of the mechanical keyboard is tactile and clicky, so if you enjoy the soothing ASMR sounds that are intrinsically linked to Razer Green switches, this is the keyboard for you.
Want to know how to get spectral pages and manifest pages in Destiny 2? The Halloween event is here, and there are plenty of treats that you can get by spending manifested pages at the Book of Forgotten: lore entries, triumphs, and cosmetics. To get manifested pages, you first need as many spectral pages as you can carry.
Typically, you have to grind for hours to get a handful of spectral pages, but thankfully there are a few ways to trick the system and quickly farm them, no matter if you're on your own or with a Fireteam of like-minded players.
You can only hold a maximum of 75 spectral pages at any time. That said, each method can be repeated and only takes a couple of minutes to complete. Here's how to farm Destiny 2 spectral pages as quickly as possible, with methods for both full Fireteams and solo players. After farming enough spectral pages, run through the new Destiny 2 Haunted Lost Sectors, and you can convert the spectral pages into manifested pages by defeating Headless Ones.
After launching in August, mostly-melee battle royale 'em up Naraka: Bladepoint rated on RPS's list of best battle royale games for its parkour and grabble hook fights. If you're all about the battle and less about the royale, Naraka is queueing up a new game mode for you. The new 1v1 mode is inspired by and named after the movie Bloodsport, pitting sixteen players against one another in an elimination tourney until just one emerges as the winner. Naraka's new Bloodsport mode is kicking off tomorrow for you to go face to face and sword to sword with solo challengers.
November may bring an unpleasant surprise for Skyrim Special Edition players, as one prolific modder has warned that changes in an update will mean a large part of Skyrim modding "is going to be broken for an unknown length of time". While it's common for updates to break mods, supposedly this will require a whole lot more work than usual to get back on track. And there's a risk some will never be fixed.
There are a lot of different sitcoms that have left their mark on fans over the years, but New Girl really managed to capture something special and weird when it started airing on FOX back in 2011. The show captured the hijinks of a handful of loft mates trying to navigate the trials and tribulations […]

The report claims that "the core of the dispute […]

It's only been out publicly for a little more than a week, but Windows 11 has received its first post-launch update from Microsoft. Unfortunately for users, it's not that large of an update. While getting an update is generally positive news, this one is frustrating for those using Windows 11 on AMD Ryzen CPUs. According to Microsoft itself, the first update focuses on security. The only highlight the company mentions is, "Updates security for your Windows operating system". In detail, the update addresses compatibility issues with various Intel "Killer" and "SmartByte" networking software that would drop User Datagram Protocol (UDP) packets. An AMD fix for Windows 11 is coming…soon Currently, Windows 11 has been known to slow AMD CPUs up to 15%, the company claimed. To deal with this, AMD is set to release a driver update later this month to fix the core scheduling concerns. Regarding the L3 Cache latency causing the chi...
Real-world trading and gold farming have been a problem in RuneScape ever since its release twenty years ago. Developer Jagex has punished players for engaging in these activities for some time but is now implementing stricter penalties. Details of these new measures against players who buy gold were posted in a developer blog on the RuneScape website titled "Game Integrity: Real World Trading." Previously, Jagex focused on handing out bans primarily to gold sellers. These are the people who farm gold in-game and then sell it to other players in exchange for real money. However, following today's change in stance these stricter rules will extend to gold buyers too. Under these new rules, both parties involved in any rule-breaking transactions will be considered equally guilty. Clamping down on real-world trading At least at a surface level, real-world trading doesn't seem too problematic. What's harmful about a few RuneScape players wanting to ea...

Hold up, the End of Dragons expansion of Guild Wars 2 is getting siege turtles? Like… giant tortoises mounted with siege weaponry stomping onto the field of battle? Where can I get one? How do I get one? Ideally, those questions will be answered in the series of livestreams ArenaNet has lined up to showcase […]
When I saw that Corepunk's Artificial Core had put up a 15-minute video of the game's PvE experience, my immediate reaction was, "About dang time!" After all, there are some of us who harbor a small but fierce hope that this mixed-genre MMO will actually turn into something special. The narration-free video demonstrates how Corepunk's […]
We've made it past the two-week mark since the launch of Amazon's New World, and this week, MOP's even kicked off a new column detailing our experiences in the game so far. But of course, those experiences are shifting as the game is changing underneath us: Today's early morning patch touched on multiple bugs and […]
