Kotaku Monday, December 6, 2021 11:35 PM If you have ever wanted to hear a word repeated so many times that it loses all meaning to you (semantic satiation, it's a real thing), then please enjoy this stream of a man who has committed himself to saying the word "Mario" over half a million times. |
Kotaku Monday, December 6, 2021 8:55 PM Game Workers Unite Australia, a body that had previously been an advisory and support organisation, announced today that early next year it will be transitioning to becoming a full-blown union. |
Kotaku Monday, December 6, 2021 8:00 PM I finally got to see Dune over the weekend (its release was delayed in Australia due to pandemic lockdowns), and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. |
Kotaku Monday, December 6, 2021 6:15 PM This is a conversation that I'm sure has played out countless times across kitchens and living rooms around the world as children, friends and partners patiently try and explain the difference between a video game universe and a tabletop wargaming universe. I just don't know if it's ever been done so smoothly. |
PCGamesN Monday, December 6, 2021 6:44 PM 1.43 is the next big, free update for both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2, and it's set to introduce features like ownable dumpers and new viewpoints. The devs at SCS Software have confirmed that it's also introducing a brand-new truck, which will "tick off a 'debt' we've had towards all the MAN TGX truck lovers for some time". The MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 will be available as of 1.43, as the devs explain in their blog post. "In this upcoming update for Euro Truck Simulator 2, along with all the other new content, we bring new parts and customization options that will allow you to upgrade your current MAN TGX to the long-requested EfficientLine 3 version." You'll be able grab the EfficientLine 3 option either as an upgrade at a repair shop, or as a new vehicle at MAN dealerships. On top of that, SCS says "our vehicle artists are already working hard on multiple new vehicles for both ATS and ETS2". There's no clear indication of whether those'll land during 1.43 or later, however. RELATED LINKS: Euro Truck Simulator 2 system requirements, Best VR games, How to set up your Oculus Rift |
PCGamesN Monday, December 6, 2021 6:02 PM Minecraft 1.18 is officially here, and the revamped world generation has created some astounding new vistas. Yet, as ever, modders are at work expanding on Mojang's game, and Terralith 2.0 has arrived with a host of features to make world generation even more impressive. Best of all, it's not even technically a Minecraft mod. The Terralith 2.0 datapack "adds over 85 brand-new biomes, as well as updating almost every vanilla biome with new and improved features," as the devs at Stardust Labs explain. Just a few screenshots will sell how much new stuff there is here - the volcanoes alone are enough to knock my proverbial socks off. The new biomes and terrain adjust things both above and below ground, and there's a big variety of biome types, too. You'll see plenty of realistic biome types, alongside more exotic locales like "Skylands, Moonlight Grove, and even the elusive Mirage Isles". PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, December 6, 2021 11:15 PM In our Icarus currency guide, I mentioned how completing missions nets you rewards if you check your in-game mail. But, that's solely for the gold "R" currency. We still need to talk about another type of reward that you can obtain. Here's our Icarus guide to help you farm Exotics, the purple currency for the Orbital Workshop, during the Deep Vein Extraction mission. Note: For more information, check out our Icarus guides and features hub. Icarus Exotics guide: How to farm the Orbital Workshop purple currency in the Deep Vein Extraction mission A few tidbits regarding the mission and the Extractor blueprint To gain access to the Deep Vein Extraction mission in Icarus, you'll need to complete a prerequisite: Searchlight Scan. Also, before you actually commence Deep Vein Extraction, make sure that you've got the latest patch. To clarify, I had already obtained the Extractor blueprint in the Tier 4 panel of the crafting tech tree. Based on the... |
PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, December 6, 2021 10:45 PM Back in April, I was able to conduct an interview with Dean Hall of RocketWerkz. The creator of DayZ now heads his own studio, with Icarus as its biggest offering to date. A survival game set in a massive world, Icarus is ambitious in size, scale, and scope. I genuinely found these concepts interesting at first. Unfortunately, the "finished" product is plagued by so many bugs, glitches, and questionable design. Our Icarus review is based primarily on an offline/solo playthrough. My character is currently level 30 and I've yet to complete some of the late-game missions. However, I've already noticed a plethora of issues that soured the experience. The hubris of humanity As the name implies, Icarus is about the folly of humankind. Set in the far future, spacefaring entrepreneurs managed to discover a planet designated as Wolf 1061. Attempts to terraform the planet were successful, at first, until a substance known as Exotic Matter led to an ecological di... |

PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, December 6, 2021 7:40 PM You start Icarus with low-tier materials as though you're a space explorer whose only learning experience came from the Stone Age. Later, you'll have the means to create high-end components for armaments. Here's our Icarus guide to help you craft gunpowder and steel with the Concrete Furnace and Mortar and Pestle. Note: For more information, check out our Icarus guides and features hub. Likewise, you can take a look at our modern weaponry crafting guides for fuel/grenades and firearms (pistols, shotguns, and rifles). PC Invasion - FeedDDD Monday, December 6, 2021 7:30 PM You start your Icarus runs with measly weapons that only tickle hostiles. Eventually, you'll have modern armaments that can deal tremendous damage. Here's our Icarus guide to help you craft grenades with the Machinist Bench and fuel with the Biofuel Composter. Note: For more information, check out our Icarus guides and features hub. Likewise, you can take a look at our modern weaponry crafting guides for steel/gunpowder and firearms (pistols, shotguns, and rifles). How to Craft Fuel and Grenades in Icarus Before you can craft grenades in Icarus, you'll first need to acquire fuel. As of now, I only know of one source — the Biofuel Composter. Here's what we need (remember to unlock the corresponding tech tree blueprints): Biofuel Composter (Tier 3/Machining Bench) 20x iron ingot and 8x copper ingot – Iron ores and copper ores can be mined in caves. Just watch out for cave worms. Once you have the ores, you need the Stone Furnace (Tier 2) to smelt them ... |
