An upcoming livestream will reveal some of what to expect from the game in the near future, but the developers have already confirmed that there will be no new expansion pack in 2021. However, it looks like there are two new major base game updates to help dull the sting. In answer to a question on whether we'd learn about the new expansion pack timeframe soon, the Sims' community manager responds (via SimsVIP) that "the Season of Selves covers October, November, and December". There's no new expansion on that roadmap. The implications are pretty obvious. However, the devs "still have two base game updates we have yet to talk about". Context suggests - but does not confirm - that these updates will be part of the Season of Selves, and thus will launch this year. That Season of Selves roadmap does mention multiple free updates that will "let you customise your space with colour and unlock new ways to play", though it seems the colour bit already landed in the free swatch update. This time, it looks like we're getting another chance for a vote on the next unvaulted weapon, and it sure sounds like the options will be between the combat shotgun and boogie bomb. Downtime for Fortnite 18.30 begins on October 26 at 1am PDT / 4am EDT / 9am BST, though matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before that point. Downtime typically lasts for about an hour or two, and once servers are back up, you'll be able to hop in and see whatever map changes and new content await. The devs are teasing a choice between "force" and "combat" or "groove" and "rhythm" following the update, and dataminers are certain this is a reference to an upcoming vote between the combat shotgun and boogie bomb, both of which were vaulted in Chapter 2 Season 5.
