Kotaku Sunday, January 2, 2022 4:45 PM 2019's Resident Evil 2 remake was fantastic, blending the third-person action and combat from Resident 4, with the scares and visuals of Resident Evil 7. But now, thanks to an impressive-looking fan mod, you can revisit this survival horror glow-up in virtual reality, which sounds both exciting and very scary. |

PCGamesN Sunday, January 2, 2022 1:12 PM Redwall meets The Legend of Zelda action-RPG Ghost of a Tale may be getting a sequel if the teases from both the game's creator and the Twitter page are true. If the teases are for a new game, then Ghost of a Tale 2 should get revealed in 2022 - and maybe even released, too. The original Ghost of a Tale released back in 2018, which we described as a "rodent fairy tale version of Metal Gear Solid". There's certainly more to it than that, as the game has influence from the likes of Zelda, Fable, and of course, the Redwall series by Brian Jacques. It's currently sitting on a "very positive" rating on Steam from over 3000 reviews, which is impressive considering it's "90%" the work of a single developer. That developer is Lionel 'Seith' Gallat, who also works at DreamWorks on animated movies such as Despicable Me and The Lorax - and has now seemingly teased Ghost of a Tale 2, or at least something "in store" for fans. |
PCGamesN Sunday, January 2, 2022 12:06 PM There's a new teaser trailer out for one of the most promising-looking horror games in development: ILL, an Unreal Engine 5-powered FPS that seems to be combining Resident Evil 7, Dead Space, and The Thing - and stars the voice behind Resident Evil 2's protagonist Leon S. Kennedy. ILL is the first game from new developer Team Clout, and the team has released small updates and snippets of gameplay throughout 2021 which shows just how disturbing the game is getting. ILL is a first-person horror game built on Unreal Engine 5 with some truly disgusting monster design that gives off Dead Space and The Thing vibes, with the small slices of gameplay suggesting Resident Evil 7 or Condemned: Criminal Origins. The new teaser is the first thing that's been released on Team Clout's YouTube channel and is monster-free and only 45 seconds long, so it's more to showcase the detailed environment, icy atmosphere, and lead actor Nick Apostolides - who's best known as Leon S. Kennedy in the Resident Evil 2 remake. |
PCGamesN Sunday, January 2, 2022 10:50 AM A new game from the team behind indie darlings Chicory: A Colorful Tale, Wandersong, and Celeste is on the way - which may be a sequel to Chicory or a brand new game - and to celebrate the reveal, one of Chicory's creators teased a weird new creature from the upcoming game. After a successful Kickstarter where it raised nearly three times its starting goal, the delightful Chicory: A Colorful Tale released in June 2021. It's an adventure game where you play as a dog in a colouring book. Players have to solve puzzles and help other characters with the ability to paint and colour anything in the game. It's currently rated "overwhelmingly positive" on Steam, and some reviews called it a "clear GOTY contender". Chicory's director and main developer is Greg Lobanov, the creator of Wandersong - a game with reviews so ridiculously positive that Steam thought that users were faking them. Now it seems that Lobanov is back with the Chicory team and is "working on something new". |
PCGamesN Sunday, January 2, 2022 12:28 PM Players have voted an open-world mod for a 20-year-old RPG as Mod of the Year 2021 on ModDB. The epic Gothic II Chronicles Of Myrtana total conversion only released this month but has been selected as the best mod of the year by the community - beating out the likes of Black Mesa: Blue Shift. Gothic II was released back in 2002 as the latest well-received action RPG from Piranha Bytes - who would go on to create the similar Risen series and is currently working on ELEX II for a March release date. The Chronicles Of Myrtana mod is a huge total conversion for Gothic II that features a new open-world, skills, mechanics, story, and even voice acting. It's available on both ModDB and Steam and only released in full on December 10 - and players loved it immediately. On Steam it's currently rated as 'Overwhelmingly Positive' from over 5000 reviews - by comparison, Gothic II itself is rated as merely 'Very Positive' from around 6500 reviews. |
